Congratulations in advance

I forgot to give you your complimentary T-shirt... here you go. ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 13:47, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

I'll just shake your hand and welcome you to the admin corps now. Congratulations on surviving RFA! Your RFA did a crap ton better than mine did... LOL. Just remember that if you need help, input, guidance, thoughts, or if you just wanna talk... my talk page is always open to you, and you're welcome to message me there any time you need or want to. Adminship and doing the right thing can be hard at times; just know that I (and many others) are there for you should you need anything. :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 13:45, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

I also offer my congratulations. I'm not an admin, but it's always nice to see another admin join the ranks. I'm sure you'll make a fine admin. Good luck! Jeb3Talk at me here 13:48, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

Hooray! and congratulations. I was going to give you your T-shirt but I see Oshwah beat me to it. Anyhow, heave a big sigh and have a libation of your choice and enjoy your new title! -- MelanieN (talk) 01:58, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
P.S. Much better than a crappy T-shirt: You are now entitled to put this {{Administrator topicon}} little doodad at the top of your user page, and this userbox {{User wikipedia/Administrator}} wherever you put userboxes. And put this template {{Adminstats/HickoryOughtShirt?4}} somewhere convenient; a bot will soon populate it with your admin actions. If you just want a link to it somewhere rather than the actual table, use [[Template:Adminstats/HickoryOughtShirt?4]]. -- MelanieN (talk) 02:08, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

welcome to the mop corps

Congratulations on your successful RFA!
Though I can't make the Leafs win a playoff series, I can give unsolicited advice, so it's your turn to hear what the puppy told me after my RFA passed –
almost twelve long, sordid, why-is-Katie-still-talking years ago:
  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version. (I got nothing here. It's inevitable. I'd be shocked if you haven't done it already.)
  2. Remember you must always follow the rules, except for when you ignore them. Without exception, you will pick the wrong one to do. (See #5.)
  3. Remember to assume good faith and not bite. Remember that when you are applying these principles most diligently, you are probably dealing with a troll. (You'll attract many more of those now, because mop. They must like to drink the dirty water in the bucket.)
  4. Use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block, because really, what else is there to live for?
  5. Remember that when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity with descriptive terminology.
It will not be a personal attack because we are admins and, therefore, we are all rouge anyway.
  6. Finally, remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

Pass

Hi there, "Congratulations" on your adminship. I put it in quotes because I don't actually believe it's a promotion, only an introduction to new tools. I wish you congratulations mostly because you successfully endured the ridiculous scrutiny of the process, which can be very disheartening. If I have any (unsolicited) advice it would be: if people said "I'm not sure he is very good at ___", just be more careful with ___. In one of my RfAs some folks roasted me for some shortcomings I had in article deletion discussions, so now I opt not to do it on my own unless it's a clear speedy. If there's a gray area, I have no qualms about fielding community input. No shame there. Anyhow, I wish you the best, and you should create at least two more GAs or at least one FA just to thumb your nose at the opposer who made their elitist expectations part of your non-promotion. What nonsense. If you need anything, please feel free to ask. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:04, 2 May 2019 (UTC)

Thank you Cyphoidbomb (and everyone above) for your kindhearted well wishes and advice. Kelly McCrimmon

An article for Kelly McCrimmon was recently created. It needs a lot of citations. Hopefully one of us can get around to it this week. Flibirigit (talk) 18:54, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

Huh?

@HickoryOughtShirt?4:What are you talking about? I am trying to make Mike's page accurate and up-to-date (and decently written). I am not adding "promotional material." Please stop changing the page from accurate to inaccurate and out-of-date. MMT2019SZ (talk) 20:09, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi MMT2019SZ and welcome to Wikipedia. Based on your username and edits it is very clear you have a conflict of interest when it comes to Michael M. Thackeray. Please follow the guidelines I left on your talk page about declaring a conflict of interest. Secondly, all the content you are adding is promotional and unsourced. You are just adding links to websites like "The Innovation Hub" without showing proof it backs up any claims you are making. After properly disclosing your conflict of interest (see WP:DISCLOSE) please read over our reliable sources policy and neutral point of view policy which all pages on Wikipedia must follow. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:12, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Not clear

I don't know what you mean by "making claims" that are "unsourced." Yes, I linked to the Innovation Hub -- people might be interested in finding out more about it. It's not backup for anything. Nor do I know what you mean by "promotional." How can an article describing the accomplishments of a scientist be promotional? If you would prefer that the footnotes link to the paper/patent rather than to the reference list (standard scientific procedure), I will change that -- if you stop trying to take down the page.

Wow a lot can happen when I leave for a few hours. Thanks John from Idegon and David Eppstein for your assistance. So, MMT2019SZ, there are a few problems with the content you are adding. Firstly, we only add links that back up what we are discussing in the article. This is because all content needs to be verifiable. All links must directly state what you typed. Secondly, if you look at similar articles to Michael M. Thackeray, you will see they all begin with their name, birthday, and what they are notable for. Using language like "leading" and "groundbreaking" are promotionally toned. Wikipedia needs to remain neutral. Thirdly, adding on the sources problem, none of the awards you list are sourced at all, nor the additions of early life and eduction and large blocks of text regarding lithium-ion batteries. Since you have quite the obvious conflict of interest, please read over our conflict of interest guidelines. For example, instead of directly editing the article itself please make Edit requests on Talk:Michael M. Thackeray with reliable sources and neutral language. However, the BEST course of action is to stop editing. Wikipedia strongly discourages paid editing and the best way to avoid being blocked etc. is to just let some of Wikipedia's thousands of volunteer editors (with no conflict of interest) edit the page. That is the best advice I can give someone with a COI. You should read over our paid and conflict of interest editing policies which are also stated above. If you have any more questions please leave them here or better yet, ask at the helpdesk for new editors. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:12, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

Hmm yes

Kelapstick, you'll be pleased to know that HickoryOughtShirt uncensored that beautiful article we wrote so long ago. Remember when our kids were babies, and the lines "I know you're not thirsty, that's bullshit. Stop lying" would flow from our lips on an almost nightly basis? Ah yes... Drmies (talk) 02:52, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

While I may not have the "delight" of having my own children, I certainly wish I could have said this to my younger siblings at some point. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:56, 8 May 2019 (UTC)
Oh Kelapstick's children are the real delight. The article was a pretty big hit at DYK too--the publisher sent us copies, so I suppose we were paid editors at least once. Drmies (talk) 03:17, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

OK new admin, I got a question for you to ponder. You may phone a friend. Do we block for irritating edit summaries? Drmies (talk) 04:24, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

Man Drmies, I thought I was done with these questions after my RfA. IMO, I'm pretty sure this IP is trolling us in their edit summaries but their edits recently seem constructive and their edit summaries aren't harassing or violating our privacy policies (unlike some vandals I know). In fact, at the moment, I can think of two regular editors who are very helpful but always fail to use edit summaries despite being asked to. Edit summaries are not a Wikipedia policy and failing to leave one is not vandalism. In saying such, #3 under WP:BLOCKP states blocks can be used to "encourage a more productive, congenial editing style within community norms." I don't think the IP has had enough warnings about edit summaries specifically to warrant a block and I am not comfortable placing such block, especially since their recent edits aren't vandalism or unconstructive. In certain circumstances, however, I can see how they can be applied (especially if it continues to deter constructive editing and they fail to communicate). I think I would leave another warning or two before blocking, if I even did so at all.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:03, 8 May 2019 (UTC)
Ha, it never ends. I agree with you, mostly, though I might emphasize that for Recent Changes patrollers such edit summaries are disruptive because time-consuming. Thanks! Drmies (talk) 13:28, 8 May 2019 (UTC)
It'd definitely annoy me on anything I was working on but not enough to warrant any harsh action --NikkeKatski [Elite] (talk) 14:38, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

personal attack

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia%3AArticles_for_deletion%2F41st_Avenue_%28Vancouver%29&type=revision&diff=896056576&oldid=896055485

That editor is making personal attacks and generally being uncooperative. However, I realize there is no recourse so let him win. If you want examples of his bad behavior to other people, I could do that but I'm not going to waste my time chasing down bad people like that. Wikipedia is like that, letting bad people win. Aerostar3 (talk) 03:53, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I do not see anything at that link that represents a personal attack on you. I see a comment concerning a rambling, hence somewhat unclear, sentence you wrote, but I happen to agree with that statement (even though I might not have made it) and I shouldn't think you should consider that a personal attack. You might instead think of it as constructive criticism, since good written expression is something generally expected of Wikipedia editors. That is absolutely the only thing in the linked comment that I can imagine you referring to as a personal attack, and I can assure you it wouldn't be thought of as such at ANI. General Ization Talk 04:00, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Is it ok to remove an entire article except 2-3 sentences then AFD it, where voters will see the article is only 2-3 sentences? Seems like sabotage. Do one or the other, not both. Aerostar3 (talk) 04:46, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Sorry, you'll need to be more specific. I'm not going to go searching through another editor's edits to find what you're referring to. I was responding to your complaint that someone had engaged in a personal attack at the link you specified. General Ization Talk 04:48, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
Also, if the removals were of unsourced or otherwise improper content, in an attempt to determine how much, if any, of the article was salvageable, it's entirely possible to do just as you describe (in fact, I imagine I have done it). General Ization Talk 04:49, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

It seems I'm the subject of this thread. Let me be clear, Aerostar3, you are engaging in WP:HOUNDING by following me around in various discussion threads (Talk:Seattle crane collapse, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/41st Avenue (Vancouver), Boundary Road (Vancouver)) after our initial dispute at Talk:Paine Field (where you made comments that can be considered rude and potentially harassing). Contacting random admins (including here) without proper notice is also not becoming of a good member of the community. Please refrain from bothering other editors. SounderBruce 04:58, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

(talk page watcher)Aerostar3, bringing this here is highly inappropriate. For one, you are placing an unfair burden on a brand new administrator by asking him to act unilaterally in this case. If you feel after all that that been written here that you have a valid complaint, take it to ANI. I should hope after reading this you won't, but if you haven't been dissuaded, in light of what SounderBruce has written above, I'd strongly suggest reading BOOMERANG prior to doing so. Thank you

Thank you for stepping in at User:MarchjuIy, though I'm not sure {{userpage blanked}} in it's most basic form is actually the best template for that page even though I know it was added in good faith. It seems to imply that only problem with the page/slash account was that it violated U5. If that template is going to be used it might be better to elaborate on why the account has been blocked and the page has been blanked using the | parameter, or use another template (maybe {{Locked global account}}?) instead. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:57, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

Marchjuly Thank you for bringing this up. I actually didn't add that, another user did, but I will fix that right now. I have my own fan base too. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:59, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for taking a look at this. As I said, the "blanked" template was added in good faith by the Chris troutman, who seems to have first noticed the bogus account. Only a few edits were made with the account, but maybe whoever did so had/has a beef with not only me, but also with Srich32977 since that's the account they "decided" to try and block. Would it be possibly to prevent the same thing from happening with an account such as Marchju1y, MarchJuly or any similar tweaks on the spelling of my username per WP:DOPP or is it not worth the bother at this stage? -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:54, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
Marchjuly, you can register those accounts yourself and then request they be blocked (or not), listing them on your userpage as doppelganger accounts. What am I missing? How was that even possible? If you wish (BEANS) email me an answer. Wow. My hater only calls me a cockgobbler. Lol. John from Idegon (talk) 03:05, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

I have recently finished my rewrite at the Fred Page article, and I will get back to Kirke shortly. I am doing a quick upgrade at 2018 Memorial Cup. I have added a section for the 100th anniversary, and am working on a detailed bid process section. I also wanted to add proper game recaps as well. Do you have time to help clean up the existing material that is unsourced? I want to get this ready to nominate for DYK by Mar 3rd. Thanks! Flibirigit (talk) 05:18, 29 April 2019 (UTC)

Some of the preexisting citations need to have a proper cite template, as they are just bare URLs. Flibirigit (talk) 04:18, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
Yes, I've noticed that. I've also noticed some are not properly linked to the correct page.   Doing...HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:19, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

That is much appreciated. Are you able to help with game recaps, similar to what is it 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs? Do you know anyone else who could help as well? Flibirigit (talk) 04:36, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
I think PensRule11385, Eh Oh Canada, and DetroitFan7 (all of whom have helped at similar topics) might be, although don't feel obligated guys! I'll start working on the game recaps. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:41, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
Yosemiter, might you be interested too? Thanks to anyone who does help, and please add proper citations. Flibirigit (talk) 04:43, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: I am assuming you meant something like this? HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:54, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
That's a good start. I would probably go a step further and cite the game report with any important game play, such as who scored the most goals in the game, or a goaltender with a shutout, or a game with a lot of penalties/or a brawl etc. Flibirigit (talk) 05:07, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
Aaaannnndddd my wifi just cut out. I don't know where you are, but there's a storm here that I guess took out our wifi. I'll try my best via cell phone but this may be a tomorrow project. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:22, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
No worries, we made some good progress today. PS., my location is on my user page :) Flibirigit (talk) 05:58, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
Oh see I understood your userpage as you were born in Oshawa. Anyways, internet is back on and I have expanded the blurbs. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:54, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
Born and raised, and still here. The updates to 2018 Memorial Cup are looking good. I'm going to expand the introduction, the Road to the Cup sections, and a blurb on the awards. Flibirigit (talk) 22:18, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
I'm working on the round-robin game recaps tonight during the Blue Jays game. I should have them online before going to bed tonight. We might have this ready to nominate for DYK by tomorrow! Flibirigit (talk) 03:18, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Game recaps are done. I think we're almost there. The introduction will need expanding now. Is there anything else you can suggest? Flibirigit (talk) 04:55, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
No, I think you've done a fantastic job Flibirigit. I'm going to try and bluelink the redlinks that pass NHOCKEY (such as Glenn Gawdin) before the DYK goes up. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:00, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for all of the help. I will work on the introduction tomorrow, and and other proofreading to finish the nomination by Thursday. I plan to request May 18 as a special occasion request of the one year anniversary. Flibirigit (talk) 05:07, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Please look into the coach Mario Puliot, and the red links the selection committee. We already have Kirke in progress, but Robison and Fortin are glaring omissions. Flibirigit (talk) 05:22, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Not so sure about Puliot, I would go with no, but I agree with you on Robison and Fortin. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:48, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Akpata appears to pass GNG at a quick glance. Puliot had a lengthy career as a college coach in U Sports, and recently won Coach of the Year in the QMJHL. I believe he would pass GNG considering French language resources. Flibirigit (talk) 05:55, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Okay, great! I think I'll start with Robison tomorrow. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:56, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Please check out User:HickoryOughtShirt?4/Ron Robison. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:49, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
It's a good start. I see you used a newspaperarchive clipping too. I suggest adding another sentence to the introduction. Flibirigit (talk) 20:41, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion Flibirigit. I'll probably move it to mainspace tonight during the Hurricanes game. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:29, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
I will start working on Mario Pouliot later tomorrow. Flibirigit (talk) 03:09, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Sorry for my unexpected recent bout of inactivity, real life has gotten in the way. You are very generous to include me in the DYK nomination, you really did most of the work. I can begin Fortin Tuesday and I am still actively working on the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award list as well. Two articles should be up by mid May. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:37, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
No worries there, we all get busy. I should be finished Pouliot by Wednesday. I also looked into Michael Akapata, but he does not appear to pass WP:GNG, since all coverage is local Windsor city politics. Flibirigit (talk) 14:28, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Thanks for the understanding. I've begun Jack Gatecliff at User:HickoryOughtShirt?4/Jack Gatecliff however it is difficult to find reliable sources online. The "best" I found it this which is obviously unacceptable being a fan forum. Do you have any sources you know of?HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:59, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
I am going to copy the last comment above into the journalist discussion further up your talk page. Flibirigit (talk) 18:12, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

Done Mario Pouliot. Are you still interested in Serge Fortin, or some of the notable 2018 Memorial Cup players? Flibirigit (talk) 20:47, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

@Flibirigit: I'm still working on Glenn Gawdin (player). I can post my progress in my sandbox if you want. It was previously deleted under WP:G5, which is unfortunate, but the deleted content wasn't much anyways. Serge Fortin is a bit more complicated since almost all sources are in French. He will just take some more time to chew through the translations. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:51, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
No worries, as long as we're making progress and not duplicating each other's efforts. Flibirigit (talk) 20:56, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Glenn Gawdin is   Done! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:49, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

Unfortunately my only reference is my long time history and friendship with both Dick and son Jimmy. The statement that Jimmy was Dick & Jeannie's son and Lana was his second wife is incorrect. I was actually there for the albums cited but will see if I can find citations and re-submit if you think it'll fly but can guarantee that everything I wrote is spot on accurate. Thanks for such a quick response! Ription (talk) 23:07, 16 May 2019 (UTC)Ription @HickoryOughtShirt?4:

Hi Ription and welcome to Wikipedia. I appreciate your earnest to bring factual information to Wikipedia and your understanding that everything must be cited to a reliable source. Unfortunately, original research such as personal knowledge is not enough for Wikipedia as all content must be verifiable. I would move cautiously in topics you have a personal connection with as it may hinder your ability to be neutral, which is a key pillar of Wikipedia. A good way to avoid this is to make edit requests on Talk:Dick Dale where other editors can examine/comment on your edits beforehand. I also suggest you check out the helpdesk for new editors and the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:15, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

DYK for 2018 Memorial Cup

On 17 May 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2018 Memorial Cup, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the 100th anniversary of the Memorial Cup (trophy pictured) was celebrated by the Canadian Hockey League with a commemorative coin, a postage stamp, and a Santa Claus parade? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2018 Memorial Cup. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, 2018 Memorial Cup), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

No conflict of interest

@HickoryOughtShirt?4: Hello! You said I have a conflict of interest with my most recent update on the National Cathedral School page, but I do not. All of my information came directly from the school's website. Thanks so much!

@Mepelson: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, you are incorrect. You are adding the same (copyrighted!) information 71.246.229.173 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) was, and they claim they are an employee of the school [1]. Unless this is some absolutely weird coincidence, it is safe to assume you are the same user. Being a paid employee of that school is a direct conflict of interest. Instead of creating an account you should've read my messages and warnings. You need to read our conflict of interest policy and stop adding copyrighted and promotional material to National Cathedral School. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:05, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

Do not change Facts..

@HickoryOughtShirt?4

Do not change facts,

1) Asaram is in a list of Fake Baba, see link https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/asaram-gurmeet-ram-rahim-on-fake-baba-list-meet-the-14-faces-hindu-sadhus-want-boycotted/story-JYEQQkSYOOBFFQzKfbD7UP.html Also He is not a Sadhu, Sadhus are SANYASI(who had gave everything including family). But this is a person who had wife, children, relatives, properties etc... Also Sanyasi's first dharma is Brahmcharya (Stay away from woman in all sense and way) He is not Sadhu in any sense.

2) He might be known as Bapu by his followers but not by majority of people. And Bapu is a word for respect, which such criminal does not deserve.

Request not to change facts.

Cale Makar Height/Weight

Hi - There are several edits on the Cale Makar article for height/weight, the first few requesting a reference. It looks like it's back to 6'1" (which appears close to correct by my eyes seeing him skate next to other players live during warmups at rink level at the Avs home playoff games). I still don't see one given but it's likely I don't know where to look. Can you help me to know where the reference ended up being for that information? Thanks very much.

Hi Rick426 and welcome to Wikipedia. Sorry for the late reply, real life got in the way and I wanted to give you an in-depth answer. Firstly, I don't know where 6'1 came from but his University bio says 6'0. I want you to know that I often find contradictory information regarding personal biography information for athletes. For example, Akil Thomas (another hockey player) was listed as being born in Brandon, Florida on Eliteprospects in June 2018. However, when I began researching I found he was more often listed as being born in Toronto (including in a personal interview with the subject). After I posted such information (with reliable sources) to Wikipedia, his Eliteprospects biography changed to reflect this [2]. I can see that ESPN, NHL.com, and Eliteprospects all say 5'11 and if you cite such sources, you will likely not be reverted. Getting an athlete's correct measurements is difficult, as teams often try to make them seem taller than they are. If you are interested, I found this ESPN article very informative and interesting. Hi IP and welcome to Wikipedia. I am not sure how one corelates with the other? Wikipedia has a very specific definition of what Spam consitutes as (see WP:SPAM) and I don't believe this article fits that bill. Please stop disruptivly blanking that page as it is disruptive and without meaning. You can propose deletion through WP:PROD or deletion discussion but it must fall under our deletion criteria. Hi HickoryOughtShirt?4. I'm not sure I agree that this page was G11, although the style could certainly be improved in places. Would you please explain your reasoning? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:17, 22 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi MSGJ and thanks for this message. I apologize for the prolonged reply, I was at work. Yes, I'll admit that may have been a borderline case. While I have absolutely seen, and tagged, worse, the article reeked of name dropping/spamming festivals and awards without any citations to support these facts. Tie into that the promotional username and BAM! However, in saying that, I have read their now-accepted unblock request and won't object to the draft being reinstated if you'd like (especially since they seem to understand that it is not mainspace ready at the moment). Hello my friend

I tried to post a funny picture but the edit filter said something about editing. Do you know why? Thankyou

Hockey One page

Hi, I don't know why the editing on this page keeps on being removed. I want to simply alter the text? I work for Hockey Australia and desperately want this amended.

We won't upload any images or photos, just text!!!!

Hi Hockeyaust and welcome to Wikipedia. Firstly, what is your relation to Somerfordben. Both of you are adding text that is clearly copyrighted without proof of ownership or allowance. That's the first issue. Wikipedia has very strict copyright rules. If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The second biggest issue here is your conflict of interest. Are you aware that if you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation.? I suggest checking out Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure and reading some of our important policies regarding reliable sources and neutral point of view before continuing to edit. If you continue to re-add copyright violations you will be blocked. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:41, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

Oh right, sorry man. I had no idea. Can you specify where the text is copyrighted? Is it possible for me to re-write it? I thought the issue was with the images, so happily stopped trying to upload them.

To answer your questions, I have 2 accounts, so also somerfordben...

Additional question

24. What do you intend to do with your admin hoddie and the Admin's Canadian maple syrup when it is given to you? --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 02:12, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Please see WP:REALNAME

You declined a UAA request as saying it should be taken to COIN but it in case of living, notable persons, the policy is to prove their identity first — when the name of the user is exactly the same as the person, You are welcome to use your real name, but in some cases, you will need to prove that you are who you say you are. The user in question is M. Shayne Bell who has an equivalent article at M. Shayne Bell. Your decline rationale is faulty. --qedk (t c) 16:04, 28 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi QEDK and thanks for this message. I apologize for the late response, I was sleeping and later at work. My understanding of WP:REALNAME is that it is discretionary whether to apply it or not. The page states "If a name is used that implies that the user is (or is related to) a specific, identifiable person, the account may sometimes be blocked as a precaution against damaging impersonation, until proof of identity is provided" (emphasis mine). However, upon further investigation, it appears this user was making unsourced accusations against a living person regarding their sexuality that the edit filter caught. In light of this, that is a blockable offence. I thank you for your patience and for bringing this to my attention. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:54, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
No worries at all, I just thought your decline reason didn't match the situation at hand, I know that WP:REALNAME is indeed discretionary (as a lot of blocks are). But, just the fact that someone of the same name was editing the article is a big red flag and something that mostly warrants a block, until and unless they are verified from beforehand. Thanks either way! --qedk (t c) 04:22, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
