Speedy deletion nomination of Island Pictures edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Island Pictures requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. FunkyCanute (talk) 09:54, 11 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, this message is to let you know about disambiguation links you've recently created. A link to a disambiguation page is almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. McLintock! edit

Hi thanks for the corrections to the PD list. I've been working on it over the past week or so to better comply with sources. I think the problem with McLintock! is the refs are linking to court case decisions. That may be considered a primary source. Do you know if there are any secondary sources that mention the case, like in a newspaper or magazine or book, so we can Verify the primary source? I think we may need that, for Wikipedia purposes. Green Cardamom (talk) 02:13, 9 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Excellent, one enough two even better, thanks! If you know of more I'm trying to find secondary sources that show any film is in the PD, it's been hard. Maybe Billboard is a good source. Green Cardamom (talk) 03:22, 9 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Calvin and Hobbes, hoaxes? edit

Hello, Freshh. I noticed on AfD that you posted these userpages for deletion, then redirected them to a relevant policy. First off, it's not a hoax if these were created in the user's userspace; perhaps he intended to move them into the article namespace once they were finished. These articles do not qualify for AfD; if not just drafts of a later article, you should have taken them to WP:MfD instead. I would also advise against hastily redirecting to WP:Do not create hoaxes in such instances. dci | TALK 04:21, 30 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

I do understand the sockpuppet deal, so please don't think I'm ripping on you for doing this; I think that MfD would probably have been a better route. dci | TALK 04:23, 30 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • I'm pretty much here to say the same thing DCI said. Userspace pages should go through miscellany for deletion rather than the AfD area. I also want to caution you about redirecting things to the hoax page. That would be considered by a lot of users (and a lot of admins) as vandalism. You might have had good intentions, but it would still be seen as vandalism because it doesn't actually solve anything. I've closed the AfD via a non-admin closure (hopefully I did it correctly). You could probably successfully delete them through MfD, though.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 06:14, 30 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jeez, that's a lot of pretty detailed info you removed. Is it not true? Have you tried looking for sources and not been able to find any? Or if it's not true, what is the actual recent history and status of these properties? For uncontentious material that's likely true, it's often a good idea to tag them as unsourced and wait a while for someone to come up with the sources, or even better to dig up the sources yourself. Freshh reported it to RFPP, which was back logged so no one saw the issue promptly. I have, however, declined the requests. Page protection is not the best tool for dealing with this situation as the user was using a small number of IPs across a large number of pages. Most likely, he would just jump to a new page when one got protected. Blocking and if necessary range blocking would be far more effective... Speedy deletion nomination of Act III Communications edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Act III Communications requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.concordmusicgroup.com/news/concord-music-group-village-roadshow-pictures-and-act-iii-communications/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. 1997 Fox fanfare edit

What I'm saying about this is true. Fox is still using the 1997 recording of the 20th Century Fox fanfare since 2010 and Fox doesn't want ANYONE to record the newer version of its fanfare. My reason for this is copyright reasons. I just don't know if its true. --Rod14 (talk) 15:42, 26 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Global account edit

Hi Freshh! As a Steward I'm involved in the upcoming unification of all accounts organized by the Wikimedia Foundation (see m:Single User Login finalisation announcement). By looking at your account, I realized that you don't have a global account yet. In order to secure your name, I recommend you to create such account on your own by submitting your password on Special:MergeAccount and unifying your local accounts. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Unforgettable (2011 TV series), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page A&E. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Replaceable fair use File:Mark Christopher BFI.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Mark Christopher BFI.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 02:54, 4 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Unexplained changes to Highlander edit

Hi there. I saw you made some changes to Highlander (film). It looks like you fixed the runtime to match the source provided, but you also moved a production company to become a distributor, even though this data was sourced. Maybe you could explain why you did this on the talk page. Thanks. If you're going by data provided by the IMDB, you should be aware that it's not a reliable source, as it's user-generated. Feminist films edit

I notice you added the category Category:Feminist films to the article Cinderella (2021 film).[1]

Please note WP:CATV "Categorization of articles must be verifiable. It should be clear from verifiable information in the article why it was placed in each of its categories."

While I believe the category is probably true, the article does not yet seem to contain anything to clearly verify that this category does apply. The category may be removed if there are no sources in the article to actively prove it belongs so I hope you will take the time to add some relevant sources to make it clearer. -- 109.76.198.157 (talk) 23:19, 21 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Wfor-1995.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Wfor-1995.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 16 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
