Zionists category

Thanks for catching my accidental addition of an extra category - my browser crashed and I didn't check when I had the page back up if someone had already restored it. –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 23:08, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

No problem at all. Thank you for your nice message. Best regards. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 23:09, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

"Not a reliable source"- Seven Deadly Sins

How is that unreliable? I went over that and I found it perfectly fine. I understand that Wikipedia has a citation policy, but this policy is rejecting sources of accurate information. Can you please this to me? --96.242.163.228 (talk) 00:08, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

The website www.justanyone.com/7deadly.html which you used is not the website of a recognised scholar and as such it is not recognised as a reliable source. Please see our reliable sources policy. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 00:16, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Fastily's retirement

Fastily has officially retired. I wonder a replacement is needed. I've already discussed this in User talk:Elen of the Roads#Another mentor or enough mentors? Also, I have deletion review request for WikiProject Cheers and File:UKTV.svg --George Ho (talk) 17:03, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi George. Personally I don't think that a replacement mentor is needed. I will see what Elen, Begoon and the other mentors think and pitch in if needed. Best regards. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 18:17, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
update: I have requested a temporary mentor. Is this okay? --George Ho (talk) 19:07, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for letting me know George. I agree. You also described the situation well. If you need any help from me let me know. Also if you don't get a satisfactory response from AN you can try contacting Elen, if you haven't done so already and if she is not busy. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 21:53, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Tone?

Hi. I saw this edit of yours. What do you mean by "tone"? --MZMcBride (talk) 23:29, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi MZM. Sorry about that. I wouldn't have reverted an editor like you but I thought your edits changed Fastily's more informal, grittier tone. For instance you replaced "WMF" with the full "Wikimedia Foundation", "Arbs" with "Arbitrators", Fastily's "Good Luck" with a lowercase "Good luck" and so on. You also added some dashes to Fastily's commas. Overall, although grammatically correct, your edits gave a more formal tone to Fastily's comments and in the process some of the personality of the OP got lost in the translation. In addition you added wikilinks to AN/ANI, an action that somehow changes the original intent of the OP. The only change I could possibly agree with is the possessive "its" which was originally misspelled but then I find the original "it's" charming. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 23:41, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
I, on the other hand, would admonish those of whom I knew who read it and didn't fix the typo for me! It's like he's gonna come back and do it himself, is it?
What you say is fair, I suppose. I'll leave it be. It is rather dark that such quit messages can't be understood by people without a decryption key, though. That was the reason I expanded or linked, of course. --MZMcBride (talk) 23:57, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Your intent was blameless and I actually understood it from the start. It's a close call either way and I respect your logic, as I respect you as an editor. Thank you for your fairness and open-mindedness. Take care. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 00:04, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Hagia Sophia

Thanks for catching my mistake re: Hagia Sophia. I stumbled upon the article about the reconversion of the Hagia Sophia into a church, and assumed (falsely, as it turned out), that only one church named Hagia Sophia had been converted into a mosque, then museum. A friend alerted me to my mistake this morning, but when I tried to undo my edit, I saw you had already been there. Thanks for the fast reaction. Now Im off to wipe the egg of my face :-( 85.218.151.214 (talk) 07:26, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

No problem at all. In a wiki there are no eggs thrown for good-faith contributions. :) And judging from your nice message, Wikipedia needs responsible and civil editors such as yourself. So don't be discouraged. Best regards. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 12:11, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Greek debt crisis

Aha! Finally German Expert can contain himself no longer! I am on the case! He has to learn to swallow the bitter pills of criticism! What's his beef? My sources are pristine. Uncomplimentary, sure, but as pure and untarnished as the mountain air one breathes high in the Alps. I'll rejig some of the language, see if that shuts him up. All of my very best wishes. ~ Iloveandrea (talk) 22:58, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you Iloveandrea. I didn't mean to put you to such toil. But I forgot your dedication. :) I'll try to help out if I'm needed. Nice seeing you again. Take care. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 23:02, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
He he he! I've added some more deliciously sourced material about German arms sales and corruption. I know he'll enjoy it. The only case for Germany that I'm aware of can be easily blown out of the water—if he adds it to the article, I will bring in further materials. ~ Iloveandrea (talk) 11:36, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Maybe we can change the section title to "Criticism of the German policies" so the people don't get confused as to the purpose of the section. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 16:07, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I see you've already done it. I'll spare you the pulp of "great minds..." etc. :) Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 16:11, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
I saw a 6k+ response in my watchlist: have you looked at it? do you reckon it needs a response if we are to keep the German section?
~ Iloveandrea (talk) 21:42, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
I saw it when it happened. At about the same time you trimmed it and even the Danish Expert reverted it back to your version after another editor tried his own version. I haven't read DE's 6k comments in detail but I think that you can either edit some more for NPOV and then report on the talkpage or you can reply on talk if you feel strongly about any of DE's comments, or any combination of the above. I'll try to read the section again and engage on talk as necessary or I may even edit the section. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 22:00, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Adolf Hitler article

Your revert of my edit seems to provide a rational edit summary, I can follow your logic, but please read my last comment at the article's talk page, on why I think your disagreements can be fixed w/o removing the whole point of the Christmas truce from the article. Thank you for your kind comments. I have replied at the talk of the article. It was nice meeting you. :) Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 16:14, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Reply

Well, then, I'll just write this here, knowing you'll revert my edit to your page. I'm sorry if my previous link wasn't good enough, since the main official page is the only linkable, because if you do search around it, you'll see that the url won't change as you go further, but their dates of birth are in that website nonetheless. I have, however, added a new referencing system, hope it works to your linking this time around. Chocolat ≈ Dubulge (Chat Me Up) 00:43, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

No, I will not revert your edit this time because it is quite straightforward and civil. Thank you for adding these new references which, although in Korean, are quite straightforward to follow, look reputable and satisfy our policies of WP:BLP, WP:RS, and WP:V. Best regards. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 00:47, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for your understanding too. I usually get a little worked up over reverted edits on facts that although unreferenced are true and I have to go hunting for the right references when I would want the person who thinks the reference is poor to go look for them themselves, so sorry for that. I'll keep working on good referencing. Chocolat ≈ Dubulge (Chat Me Up) 00:55, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
You are very kind. Keep up the good work. All K-pop articles badly need improved referencing. I tried to check myself through the main website but all I could see were menus for news releases, blogs, etc. Nothing for birthdays. But your new references are easily accessible and much more readily verifiable, so thank you for that. I wish all editors took care as you did to add verifiable information in those articles. Then we would have no problems. It was nice meeting you. Best regards. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 01:03, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you and same goes for me. I'll work on all k-pop articles because I know other articles are safely protected. Chocolat ≈ Dubulge (Chat Me Up) 01:06, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Great. Editors like you are badly needed in this area of Wikipedia, in fact all areas of the project. :) Let me know if I can be of any assistance in the future. Take care. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 01:16, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

For what it's worth, the discussion was listed at WP:3O, not DRN. It was also delisted by me, as there has been no discussion of this dispute on the pertinent article's Talk page; a requirement for listing an article at 3O. Doniago (talk) 17:03, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you Doniago. After you placed your 3O reply on the named account's talkpage, I checked and saw the IP's contribs included a malformed request at 3O. I also left a message but it seems that the IP and the named account have not responded to any of our recent messages yet. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 17:12, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

It is not a matter of being widely acknowledged but that the information is sourced. Many things are widely acknowledged and it is an opinion as somethings that are widely know are not in other parts of the world. A source should have been included and I am glad you have sourced it.Curb Chain (talk) 18:39, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

My interaction with JHunterJ

AniMate told me to leave JHunterJ alone. In other words, without approval, I cannot file RFC/U on him. What do you think? --George Ho (talk) 17:57, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

I have no idea what this conflict is about but I will offer you some standard advice anyway. I think that RFC/U is a pretty big step and quite an involved process not to mention confrontational and time-consuming. This type of process should only be started when other, easier options, have failed. IMO, if the problem is not big or egregious, you should not start it. Other clues include lack of support from other editors for your position, or when you see people disagreeing with you about starting it. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 03:17, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
So my conflicts about JHunterJ's closures on move requests are neither big nor egregious? --George Ho (talk) 03:32, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Do many other editors feel the same way about it as you do? Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 03:39, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
AniMate told me to let go Hunter's comments about Noetica in WT:disambiguation. Do I must? Also, AniMate implies that opinions are not big things and are "rarely right or wrong", unless I misinterpret AniMate's advices. --George Ho (talk) 03:55, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
No idea what the issue is but if there is a problem I think it can be settled between the two editors without your help, especially if they did not ask for your assistance. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 04:05, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Greetings

Hello Dr.K. I hope you have been well since we last interacted. I have a question related to English and proper grammar, and saw you listed within Category:User en-5. Today I appended the following in a discussion: "We are all editors, and perhaps we all have or will make mistakes; even if our mistake turns out to be calling another mistaken; who was not." Is that a correct presentation or should it be "...perhaps we all have made or will make mistakes..."? Also am I taking too much liberty in using the semicolon? Thank you in advance - My76Strat (talk) 17:57, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi Strat. How are you? I am very well, thank you. It is always very nice talking to you. It should be the latter: ...perhaps we all have made or will make mistakes... as the formulations for both tenses are complete. The semicolon is fine. Best regards. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 18:09, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Greek debt crisis

FYI, I have now posted a reply to Danish Expert. ~ NotOnIsraPal (talk) 16:41, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

And you've got to admire the heartless old lady, haven't you? "Stuff you! Stuff your children! Pay your taxes!" Thankfully, others were equally disgusted.

The moral weight of Christine Lagarde's matronising of the Greeks to pay their taxes is not strengthened by the fact that, as director of the IMF, she is in receipt of a tax-free annual salary of $468,000 (£298,000, plus perks).

John Weeks
Professor emeritus, University of London

To hear that latter-day Marie Antoinette Christine Lagarde tell someone rummaging in bins for food he should pay his taxes is obscene. She should resign.
Michael Paraskos
London

Interesting that she doesn't seem to be aware that Spain was running budget surpluses: "Asked if she is essentially saying to the Greeks and others in Europe that they have had a nice time and it is now payback time, she responds: 'That's right.'" I'm not going to lie to you: I simply despise her and those like her. ~ NotOnIsraPal (talk) 21:30, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

I can understand your idealism but somehow I can't see any cheer in this drama. I just hope it gets resolved. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 00:40, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Garry Kasparov

Rollback can't be used for non-vandalistic BLP violations like here, even if it gives you an exception to 3RR.--Jasper Deng (talk) 04:26, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

While I appreciate the technical advice on the use of rollback, given that rollback is the fastest way available to remove this trash talk from Kasparov's BLP, how much longer would you have liked the grave insults to have remained visible to hundreds of thousands of readers of his article? I think common sense prevails over rigidity of rules. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 04:33, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
Guess what feelings the IP experiences.--Jasper Deng (talk) 04:34, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
IP or no IP if I added this trash talk on anyone's article I wouldn't be surprised about the reaction. If someone adds such heavy insults on a biography they should have the presence of mind that they may encounter some opposition. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 04:38, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Orly Tatiz

Hello, Dr. K. I'm a bit new to Wiki, so forgive me if I am posting here incorrectly. If so, it is not at all purposeful!

You cut some material that I linked to on the Orly Taitz Wiki page. I posted info related to Taitz' passport. I did reverse your edit; allow me to explain more. I have also added a discussion on the Taitz Wiki Talk page about this issue. I would love to discuss this issue there as well.

Taitz posted her passport on her personal website, her Senate campaign website and IIRC, her Senate FB page. Because Taitz is currently running for national office and has run for state office in the past, her date of naturalization is relevant. IMO, Taitz' passport matters as it is the only concrete evidence Taitz has presented of her US citizenship and thus, naturalization.

I have simply noted that Taitz personally provided her passport on June 3, 2012 and that it was issued in 2004. This is more factual that an OC Register article claiming Taitz' citizenship info.

In your edit notes, you said my edit was a "good faith" error, but didn't explain anything else. I did edit how I posted the info incase you thought I wasn't being neutral. Before continuing any more edits, could you post your thoughts on the talk page first? Let's not engage in an edit war ... I won't do so. I wish to resolve this as pleasantly as possible. Truly!

Best wishes to you. Funnyhaha71 (talk) 21:47, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

After School

If you make a bit more compelling of a case, I'd probably protect. Can you show me examples of edit warring in the article history?—Kww(talk) 10:36, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your enquiry. Although the point is now rather moot since the article got protected, you gave me the idea to document this edit-warring and I added a section on the article talkpage because it would be really useful to document this disruption for future reference. The section can serve as a useful reference of the problems the K-pop articles face with the edit-warring about unsourced band-member positions. Best regards. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 19:46, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

A beer for you!

Thank you for the barn star. I've been editing off & on for a few years in a couple of articles that I care about, but yours was the first barn star I ever received. Cheers Erik and thank you very much for the great drink and your nice message. I am glad you appreciate the barnstar which you so richly deserve. It seems my action, ever so indirectly and serendipitously, helped defuse a small dispute. Although I must admit that it was very difficult reverting an editor I respect. But I guess all's well when ends well. Take care. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 03:26, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

A wise friend told me never to trust Greeks who bear gifts; it is advice I have always followed. Even if some kind Greek person offers to buy me a beer, I shout NO! and then politely explain why: Troy. That's just the way things have had to have been since Troy. I wonder if Greeks accept presents from each other for birthdays and Christmas... If I were Greek, I wouldn't trust my family to buy me gifts, because I would always remember Troy. Fanzine999 (talk) 19:53, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure why this mention of Greeks bearing gifts but regardless, don't forget that the Greeks of the Trojan War were engaged in warfare and you know how the saying goes: All is fair in love and war. Subsequent millennia of reliable gift-exchanging between the Greeks and the Barbarians, sorry, their friends, prove that the Greeks are as reliable gift-givers as any. In fact look at the current austerity crisis and the Troika and tell me who the bad-faith gift-givers are. For sure it ain't the Greeks. :) Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 02:07, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

My editings

I edited a few pages such as T-ara and Secret(South Korean band). On Secret's page the birthday and positions were already there, i just edited it to make it more organize. And for T-ara, i added 2 more members, Areum and Dani, because they are the new members of T-ara. I would understand if you take Dani off because she is not joining the band until December but Areum is officially in T-ara. My editings were nothing wrong, i just made things more organized and added RIGHT information about the members. So please stop giving me warnings. Adding birthdays and new members is not unsourced information because it's true. Birthdays are official and cannot be unsourceful and adding new members are official according to their companies. So stop giving our warnings unless the information is COMPLETELY wrong or untrue.

- Ishaarontrinh (talk) 20:31, 7 July 2012

No. It doesn't work that way. On Secret (South Korean band) the birthdays and positions are not referenced so you cannot add them back until you reference them with reliable sources. Same goes with the T-ara. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 03:35, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)

Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:

It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.

At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).

Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.

If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:14, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Do you know about chess?

I was reading about this: Greek gift sacrifice. I wonder why it's called that... Skirtsy (talk) 14:51, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Sounds really dramatic. Often times these names are elliptical and of unclear origin. In the article it mentions that the name may be related to the Trojan Horse saga. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 14:56, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Take care. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 03:29, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Chiding?

Hi. It was this comment — especially the "I take it that you think these comments are no big deal" part — which led me to say what I said in the WQA request about my "being chided for my perceived inaction". You certainly have a right to your opinion on this issue, and although I won't object if you decide to revise what you said, I really don't feel any need to press for a retraction. — Richwales 23:24, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Thank you Rich for the clarification. The phrase you mention was definitely not meant to chide you. Rather it was my take on your position. It was not meant as criticism of your position in any way and certainly it was not intended to show my displeasure for any perceived inaction. I am well aware this is a volunteer project and it is not my intention to press any volunteer to do anything, especially an admin. I am sorry for any misunderstanding and I hope this clears the matter. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 00:12, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Nicosia status

Hi Dr K. I don't understand where you stand on the Nicosia status edits. In my opinion the edit is simply unacceptable as it does not take into account the international view whatsover. This view being the "occupation", which has suddenly been completely wiped out from the status and replaced by the vague "de facto". Is this the balanced view that wikipedia represents? If people insist on not discussing extensively on such crucial matters I can see another edit war starting. I don't understand why the proposal is considered the consensus when there hasn't really been much of a discussion. There's been one single suggestion and only 2 typically turkish-biased users that have fully agreed with it. The greek (and international) views and arguments have not been taken into account at all. On the talk page, most of the discussion has been on other users' behavior rather than the proposed edit. I am still trying to form a proper discussion but some people keep reverting and claiming a consensus has been reached. I'd appreciate if you had a view on the issue itself on the talk page and perhaps contribute in finding a commonly accepted solution. Thanks. Masri145 (talk) 10:44, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Masri. As I explained on the talkpage I think that the current version has not been adequately discussed and may need improvement. The only reason I self-reverted was to indicate that I valued Rich as an editor and wished that he would come back, despite our disagreements. But I think the current version needs more rigorous discussion. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 19:43, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
I don't mind discussing changes and I am willing to find a compromise as long as the text is based on reliable sources. It seems that some people just want to force through a highly biased version without adequate discussion. I would appreciate if you had any views on the current text. Thank you. Social Security Death Index

Hey, Dr.K, thanks for your comments on my Talk page. I haven't said a thing, partly because I don't respond to editors who attack me and partly because there are enough stalkers responding for me. :-)

As for the death index, it's a bit confusing. As I understand it, there is no official index except if you pay the SSA for a subscription. Thus, all the others, including the one you linked to are unofficial. In addition, even the official index is only good to the extent that someone reports a person's death, and the SSA says there may be errors in it (not surprising).

I know that tributes.com is claiming it is getting the data from the index, but it's not clear what its source actually is - the official index? something else?

Although I didn't respond to Radiohist on my Talk page, I did post a comment at WP:RSN if you feel like taking a look at it.

Regards.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:09, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Bbb23. You are very welcome. This is an interesting case and one of the reasons I replied on your talk was to show to the OP that there is reasonable doubt regarding the sourcing claimed by Tribute.com, hoping that s/he could see that and therefore moderate their stance. The hosting site claims that this is the death master file 30 November 2011 edition. I am not sure about the death registration processes for addition to the master file and there may be a more recent file edition than November 2011, but the available evidence shows that there is no registration for this person. Per common sense as well as BLP we must err on the side of caution and not include any information in the article until better sources emerge. I'll check your post at RSN, thank you for the invitation. :) Take care. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 01:47, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Hmm, if she did in fact die in August 2011, then the November edition might not have the material yet. Interestingly enough, tributes.com does not say the precise source of its data. Always a pleasure talking to you.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:59, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Likewise Bbb23. :) Thank you. As far as the November 2011 edition I was thinking about the same thing. It is possible that there was no time to include her in that edition. I am also not sure about the frequency of these publications. But until we know more details we cannot make any call yet. I see also that there is the same consensus currently at RSN. I'll keep an eye just in case more information becomes available. Best regards. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 02:25, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Tenedos Edit

Thanks for the attention to the Tenedos Page. I posted a response in the Talk section on that page about the Charanis source. If you have input, it would certainly improve the page. AbstractIllusions (talk) 03:09, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I left a comment there. Best regards. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 03:11, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Re-read the section this morning and think it is much tighter now. I like the full quotation to the Jacoby/Dumbarton Oaks source and think that section is vastly improved. Thanks.AbstractIllusions (talk) 14:19, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
It was a pleasure working with you, and you deserve all the credit. I only provided very limited logistical support. :) Best regards. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 14:34, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Fiat 500 and Mini

Hi - re. Fiat 500, I am sorry - I think i had done the same with Mini. I wanted to move the current models to original names and the old generation under the same name but with the production years between brackets. Unfortunately was not possible to move to "Fiat 500" and "mini" pages the "Fiat 500 (2007) and "Mini Hatch" pages as "Fiat 500" and "mini" already existed. I apologize in case i did wrong, not sure what i potentially had to do. Thanks in advance for your advice. regards, --Ravanellidiciamo (talk) 13:47, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. I added a new repair report. at the Centre for cut-and-paste page-move repair. Next time you should propose the move at the article talkpage so that it can be discussed before any actual page-move happens. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 13:52, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

It's at ANI now. This area is a real headache. Socks, pov nationalistic arguments, misuse of sources, use of terrible sources, etc. Dougweller (talk) 07:57, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Thank you Doug. I am not very familiar with this area of conflicts but if the recent activity at the article of Turkey is any indication this is really a tough neighbourhood. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 10:04, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Volkswagen article moves

Per Talk:Volkswagen Type 5C discussion, The artical should be named Volkswagen TYPE 1.

Beatles

I didn't check this myself (yet), but the explanation is here: The_Beatles#Discography_section. A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 00:55, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. I thought that since it is a featured article any information removal should be properly justified. I personally find the information interesting and relevant but who can argue against MOS especially in a featured article. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 01:03, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Well, it would have helped if the other editor had said, "See talk for explanation" in their edit summary. But they didn't, which is why I wanted to let you know that there was a reasonable explanation. I hate to revert other editors, so can you please self-revert? If not, no big deal. I'm sure that this can be worked out on talk. Thanks. A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 01:08, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the courtesy. My edit was reverted already before I had the chance to do it myself, although I don't agree with the edit summary provided for the reversion, namely that the info was unsourced. I am sure the sales history of the Beatles albums is well established and sources should not have been difficult to find. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 01:22, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Compromise de Tenedos

Please see newest proposal for a compromise solution along the lines of many other similar places with similar naming situations. Really interested in any input. AbstractIllusions (talk) 13:18, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you Abstract. I'll have a look. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 15:52, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Sigh...

Anon IP 108 is still unhappy about Xenophon and is back in the article talk page ranting about how evil I am that I suggested he learn to edit wikipedia and add some of his material if it could be properly sourced, formatted, and verified. I tried taking it to his/her talk page, but it escalated there, I started getting pissed, so I just decided to quit responding and removed that talk page from my watchlist. I guess doing so brought the IP back to the article talk page. I suppose you probably want to just avoid the whole situation, but if you think you can wipe the spittle and calm matters down, I certainly would be glad to see it happen. I'm really trying to disengage, but I find it difficult to do so in the face of ad hominem rants. I frankly am not even sure at this point what argument he is even making, other than the right to publish his entire term paper in the article... Montanabw(talk) 22:56, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Moving Burma to Myanmar - ongoing poll

This is to let you know that an ongoing poll is taking place to move Burma to Myanmar. I know this happened just recently but no administrator would close these frequent rm's down, so here we go again. This note is going out to wikipedia members who have participated in Burma/Myanmar name changing polls in the past. It does not include banned members nor those with only ip addresses. Thank you. About your recent edit on the Tenedos talk page

Hi Dr K, I don't think you should have removed E4024's comment from the talk page.

E4024 : BTW Greece does not let enter into its territory Turkish citizens born in places in that country and bear the Turkish names of their birth place in their passports. We are dealing with this mentality here.

I was going to respond to him with a link to a story a few years ago where Turkish border authorities refused entry to people who had passports with Kurdistan as their birthplace. There was also a funny case where a Kurd could not get a Turkish passport because their real name required use of banned Kurdish letters. Try to avoid removing their insults from the talk pages. Let all the editors see what they have written. Confront their insults with some thoughtful replies instead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HelenOfOz (talkcontribs) 13:28, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Helen. You make an interesting point. It's a tough call. I am aware of the dilemma; should one leave offensive comments and respond or redact them based on policy and ignore. Since WP:FORUM and NPA applied I chose the latter, saving an unnecessary diversion from the debate about the renaming. In the process perhaps the other editor may have understood the policies a little better. He modified his edit, for the wrong reason and not one based on actual policy, but his edit summary shows some cause for hope. I think that this particular editor shows signs of adapting his discourse to a real civility level and I respect that. That's progress imo. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 14:25, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

WP:AIV

You appear to be experiencing RAS syndrome. ⁓ Hello71 17:20, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Kekemato99

Hi, Dr. K. I declined your request at the vandalism noticeboard ("WP:AIV") to block this account since the problem seemed to be more about disputed content and edit-warring than about the plain vanilla vandalism (per WP:VANDAL) that WP:AIV is for.

I did, however, leave the person a warning at User talk:Kekemato99#Administrator's warning telling them to get consensus on the article talk pages before touching anymore articles. If they fail to heed this, feel free to get me or any other administrator to block them. --A. B. (talkcontribs) 03:59, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

That didn't last long. I've blocked them for a week. If they repeat this after the block expires, I recommend blocking indefinitely.
Has this editor used any other accounts or IPs that you're aware of?
Thanks for watching over our content! --A. B. (talkcontribs) 04:01, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Thank you A. B. for your prompt action and your kind comments. I have filed multiple reports at AIV over the past weeks, even months, on the subject of K-pop article disruption. This has been going on for years. Constant edit-warring about unsourced birthday and position information, sometimes even blood types of group members, even among the IPs themselves. Just today Jaysonlee84 (talk · contribs) was indeffed due to the same behaviour. There are many socks but the most prolific one was Ryanjay1996 (talk · contribs). Due to their proliferation I have not been able to file any other SPIs recently but I will check to see if that would be possible. Best regards. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 04:16, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
