Hold your horses, please...

I find it odd that you removed my post to the Troy, Ohio page regarding local author and lawyer John Fulker before I had the chance to link a source or create a page. My edit is 100% factual, as anyone who does a search for "John Fulker, Troy" would quickly learn.

While I understand your desire to make Wikipedia better by providing sources, please give people a chance to add sources. You removed my edit less than a minute after it was posted. This is not fair. Also, you did not follow normal protocol for disputes. You were supposed to contact me to discuss your issue with my edit, not remove it.

There was no dispute. You added a name, unsourced, about a person whose notability and identity were not established by a Wikipedia article. It is common practice when reviewing to revert such edits and it is proper under guidelines. Every day, and frequently, names of non-notable persons are added to Wikipedia articles. If they were passed by when noticed, they would sit untouched when almost 100% of them are added contrary to the guidelines and are non-notable. If you can source the edit, great, go ahead. Please stop undoing my edits. Variety (magazine) reported that Jimmy Dore bought a big walled compound for $1.9 million. It is a FACT, whether you like it or not. why do you insist on using a much hated and politically charged term for the islands of Britain and Ireland. One term clearly signifies the historic dominance of one island over the other. I left this message on your talk page: As I look back at this, it appears to be just a Manual of Style problem. Instead of "NOTE:", a simple statement that these are not "jiggers" or pronounced as such and not chigoe fleas, rather than a direction to the reader would be more appropriate. My message was inaccurate, to say the least, and also neither informative nor necessary. The edits did not justify a revert and a template message. At most I should have simply left a message about my view that this wording was not appropriate and an explanation along these lines. He was a king or "just" a Chhatrapati, not also a Maharaj, as near as I can determine. What is your source for calling him a Maharaj or an emperor? The head of the Mughals was the emperor of the region at the time, was he not? Was there more than one? Donner60 (talk) 03:08, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

IP addresses get reassigned. Since this was just noticed almost five years later, it was almost certainly intended for someone who had this IP address in the past and made a questionable or other type of edit not in line with Wikipedia guidelines. I am striking the message on your talk page because, even though obviously old and outdated, it should be noted that the current person who has this IP address (you) must not be the user who this was intended for some years ago. By the way, since no further messages were left, the person was perhaps not a "vandal" but just someone unfamiliar with the guidelines. Strange as it seems, an ECo user changed the number in my vandalized pages user box by one on January 1, 2021 and left no edit summary. The Editor Interaction Analyser shows no interactions between us. I made an edit the same day and thought I had changed it when I noticed the user box change. Katy Perry's albums: One of the Boys (2008), Teenage Dream (2012), PRISM (2013), Witness (2017), Smile (2020). That's five albums, I couldn't find any other information about a full-length sixth album, though I found one EP that she released under her real name, which I don't think really counts.

The All Music web site counts MTV Unplugged as one of her albums, https://www.allmusic.com/artist/katy-perry-mn0000859589/discography. So Smile is the sixth. The individual page for the MTV Unplugged listing is https://www.allmusic.com/album/mtv-unplugged-mw0001337838. See also https://www.discogs.com/artist/971243-Katy-Perry which lists six plus the EP. The editor that edited this page on 1/12 inserted the certification table for Jewel's previous album 0304.

If you look at reference 24, 25 and 27 on this current edit it leads you to the the sales certifications for 0304.

The Billboard link in reference 27 is the same one for reference number 2 and it shows that this album was not certified and it only sold 377,000 copies.

Even the second paragraph in the intro to this page states It had sold 377,000 copies in the U.S. as of June 2010.[2]

A person adding content to an article based on personal knowledge or experience is are not a reliable source. The editors and readers do not know who that person is and whether they are telling the truth. Wikipedia cannot take user's word for types of edits which could be joke edits, vandalism, invasions of privacy or simply mistakes. It is especially important to avoid this in biographies of living persons. The edits must have citations. Wikipedia guideline pages also point this out. Bully Maguire should me mentioned in the article as it kinda defines the movie overall, especially the iconic dancing scene.

Your edit included "considered to be one of the most famous scenes in film history." Such a claim needs to be backed up by citations not just the assertion of an anonymous user. Eskimo

Hey Donner, I made a change to the Eskimo wiki page to update the etymology section, clarifying that the term was considered offensive to most Alaskan natives, this is included in at least 2 of the sources already provided in the article, I was just clarifying that although the etymological origins of the term have been discredited, the term is still considered offensive. The wording in the section is a little confusing because it makes sound as if the term is not considered offensive. Even without your edit, the article contains the following text - with citations - "Regardless, the term still carries a derogatory connotation for many Inuit and Yupik." So your edit, which is added to the sentence before, which defines the term, is unnecessary in any event. If not, I would recommend repeating the references after the first sentence as well to avoid controversy. That seems redundant, however.

I just discovered that my adult autistic daughter has been editing Wikipedia articles. She makes lists from IMDb of animated series and movies with their release dates and memorizes them. When she sees a discrepancy of release dates between IMDb and Wikipedia, she tries to change Wikipedia; or if Wikipedia only has the month and year of release, she tries to add the day. Delta Air Lines Flight 841

In December 2020, I tried to edit this page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Air_Lines_Flight_841, to correct the spelling and home town of a person in the article. The article mentions "Jayme Mays of Macon, Georgia". She is my Aunt. My mother was her sister. Her name has an unusual spelling and it is often misspelled. The correct spelling is "Jamye". Her hometown is Pell City, Alabama. It is not Macon, Georgia. My parents were listed as her emergency contacts at the time of the incident, and they lived in Macon, Georgia (where I was born 3 months before the hijacking described in the article). My Aunt is still alive and lives in Atlanta, Georgia. I have been trying to get the Wikipedia article updated on her behalf. She would like her legacy properly documented. I am attaching a few photos of documents that she sent me yesterday. One is a letter from the Delta President. Another is a letter from the pilot during the incident (even the pilot misspelled her name and in a way that is different from the Wikipedia misspelling). The other photo is the customer service award she received from Delta. My Aunt Jamye was originally overlooked for the service award when others received it in 1972. She was given the award in 1979. Her name is spelled correctly on the award. Please correct the spelling of her name and her home town, or allow me to make those edits.

You can also see from the letter from the pilot that Jamye Mays was held at gunpoint "at all times". That is considerably longer and much more serious than having a hijacker having "cocked his pistol at a stewardess". I added the following to your talk page: The citations, or in effect the references or proof, supporting your changes appear valid but are in unusual form. I suggest that you make the changes and put in the edit summary that the references are provided as photos on the talk page. I would also add a footnote to the article stating that references for this information is from Delta official documents and awards which are shown on the talk page. Then put an item on the talk page where you give the explanation and add the photos as proof. It would be good to find a citation, such as a newspaper article that can be found online, although perhaps the age of the incident would make that more difficult. I cannot guarantee that someone else might come along and ask for a more traditional citation but I think you will avoid further issues by adding the notes that I suggest.

As for the copyright of the picture, I think you will need to get the AP to release the copyright if they in fact have it copyrighted. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. The following is from page 3 of https://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ15a.pdf, a government circular on the duration of copyrights. The photo, if copyrighted, would have been created during the period that is the subject of the following paragraph, making the total copyright period 95 years.

"Works originally copyrighted between January 1, 1964, and December 31, 1977. Congress amended the copyright law on June 26, 1992, to automatically renew the copyright in these works and to make renewal registration for them optional. Their copyright term is still divided between a 28-year origi-nal term and a 67-year renewal term, but a renewal registra-tion is not required to secure the renewal copyright. The renewal vests on behalf of the appropriate renewal claimant upon renewal registration or, if there is no renewal registra-tion, on December 31 of the 28th year. For details about the benefits of making a renewal registration, see Circular 15, Renewal of Copyright."

Vandalism on Honda Aircraft Company Page

Hello, You recently marked an edit of mine on the Honda Aircraft Company page as disruptive. I'd like to ask that you please revisit the page in question, and especially look at the recent edits by user Vegnoveg. As you will see, this user inserted the company Harlow Aerospace into the page, despite the fact that this company appears nowhere in the sources. They have made similar edits to other aircraft related pages that were reverted. As another user had reverted Vegnoveg's edits only to have them changed back, I decided to remove the offending section in question. I'm open to suggestions on better approaches, but I'm not quite sure why you'd mark my change as disruptive, as I was not the user vandalizing the page. Thank you. Mr. Hickman often lost articles of clothing in the gym and suspected that his fellow classmates were the reason. He would then proceed to interrogate them on where the clothing might be. The warning message on your talk page does not block your account or current editing but is a warning not to make edits contrary to Wikipedia and guidelines. Doing so can lead to a block. Also note, your personal knowledge is not a reliable source. It cannot be verified. False information could be added based on such assertions and there is no way to check it. This is tried with some regularity. Also, there is no way to know whether this is an insult to the person to which the nickname who may not even know about it.

False Warnings

Hello!

I am here from the warning you issued to me. My editing on the page of Lake Sevan is very much justified. I am removing false information associated with the page, and which has received vandalism within nearly the past two weeks. Especially now, after the Azerbaijani president sparked controversy associated with the Lake, many have come and edited the page to alter the Lake's history in their own favor. False information, such as user's @ZaniGiovannis edit, should not be accepted as it add's to the propaganda and controversy. Also, this "claim" never once appeared on Lake Sevan's page until the Azeri's president spoke about it. So why now is Zani adding such info?? Also, the claim constantly being edited in by @ZaniGiovanni has not been proved by historical evidence. Without documents or any other sort of evidence, how can one state such claims? Claiming something does not mean it is true without provided evidence. There is a difference in it being a neutral claim (with much evidence available), than a claim not proven. @ZaniGiovanni is indeed violating Wikipedia's guidelines in spreading false information and contributed to vandalism in one's own liking. I am only reverting this false information edited in my @ZaniGiovanni. Not only that, I have been asking Zani to provide evidence to prove this claim, yet this user denies to. I aim for justice and for the truth, but for users spreading false information like Zani is unacceptable. Next time, please be more responsible in issuing warnings and do much more research on a page than issuing warnings claiming "not justified" to revisions.

Also, if you go to @ZaniGiovanni's talk page, this user has a history with warnings, blocks, attacking other users, and spreading misinformation. Now, this user is attacking Lake Sevan's page and continuing violating more of Wikipedia's guidelines. Zani is not to be trusted with their past severe violations and is now editing several pages, just stating claims and attacking other users.

The bot delivered the wrong level template, and indeed the wrong wording, although that is usually not the case. For that I am sorry for the unintended nature of the message. On the other hand, your edit changed Diodotus II to Diodos. That is inconsistent with the title and in fact you restored Diodotus when you changed it back. Your message could have been more civil and less presumptuous. And also, my edit was correctly changing a the Manual of Style error. If it perhaps carried some other changes with it which I should have noticed, I am sorry for that. I think a more thoughtful and civil message to me would have been more appropriate. The proper way to handle this is to add or change text with adequate citations. Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:Citing sources, Wikipedia:Reliable sources, Help:Footnotes. Wikipedia is written entirely by volunteers interested in the various subjects. In turn, they must follow certain guidelines, noted in the following links to start with, including the summary page of links, Help:Contents. Simply commenting about the omissions you see in articles or here will not advance anything and, as far as articles are concerned, is contrary to the policies and guidelines. Martha Morrison incorrectly linked to Ted Bundu

Wikipedia has incorrect information regarding Bundy being linked to her murder. I have a Clark Countu Sheriffs Synopsis regarding Forrest dated 1978 listing Carol and Martha as Warren Forrest’s victims I have tried several times to correct your misinformation, but you don’t seem to accept it. I am attending Forrest’s trial in September for the murder of Martha Morrison. I’ve been involved with Forrest since at least 1974 when Martha was murdered, as my sister Jamie Grissim was his first victim. You are not a reliable source. The editors and readers do not know who you are and whether you are telling the truth. Wikipedia cannot take user's word for types of edits which are often joke edits or vandalism. They must have citations. Wikipedia guideline pages also point this out. I have left links to these pages on your talk page in addition to the specific template messages.

If it is a known fact, then there must be a source. Wikipedia provides citations for readers who may question content. "Known facts" are not reliable sources. "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution. Wikipedia:Verifiability."

The following quote from a Wikipedia policy page. Wikipedia:No original research, is also relevant here: "Wikipedia's content is determined by previously published information rather than by the personal beliefs or experiences of its editors. Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it. The policy says that all material challenged or likely to be challenged, and all quotations, needs a reliable source; what counts as a reliable source is described in Wikipedia:Verifiability."

Skirmish at Adamstown

Skirmish at Adamstown - what campaign do you think this would be? First thoughts were Monocacy or the 1864 Shenandoah Valley campaign, but it seems to be too late for either one. Just to be sure I checked Lewis's Guns of Cedar Creek and Spaulding's Last Chance for Victory: Jubal Early's 1864 Maryland Invasion and it doesn't seem to be in either one. Source is just a table in Dyer, so that isn't very helpful. Article says that commanders were Benjamin F. Kelley and John McCausland, but that's not backed up by the source and I didn't think McCausland was in Maryland that late in 1864. Not sure where to best look for sources without knowing the associated campaign - do you think this is related to one of Mosby's raids somehow? Hog Farm _Talk 05:02, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

Just put this on your talk page: Just wanted to say I have been offline and just saw your question. E.B. Long, The Civil War Day by Day, shows a skirmish at Adamstown, MD on October 14, 1864. As in almost all instances where a minor action is noted, Long shows no further details. This occurred the day after Mosby took up a section of the B&O Railroad near Kearneysville, west of Harper's Ferry, seized $173,000 from two Union Army paymasters and burned a train, according to Long. That certainly puts Mosby and company in the same area the day before the skirmish but that doesn't necessarily mean they were involved. As you noted, the Battle of Cedar Creek was only five days later so the skirmish would not seem to be connected to the Shenandoah Valley campaign of 1864. I will look into this further tonight. Definitely Mosby. Sifakis, Compendium of the Confederate Armies, Virginia, page 146, shows 43rd Cavalry Battalion, Partisan Rangers, in action at Adamstown on October 14, 1864. Regarding you warning

Hello! I noticed you warned the new user Tuqamajeed about their edit on an Iraqi prince recently. This editor removed referenced content and explained that their reason for doing so was that homosexuality is not accepted in their culture. They also add content of their own without references, stating that the information comes from the family of the subject. They do not appear to understand Wikipedia rules. I hope its okay for me to inform you of this, since I noticed that you took an interest. I have reverted their edits myself, but if they contest it, I don't think I have the time and energy to deal with it as I am due to travel soon, so I thought it would perhaps be okay for me to direct your attention to it. The source is from 2014 when she had won 9 awards. Since then, she was won two additional awards (which are individually sourced in the table) bringing the total to eleven. Battle of the Wilderness

Hello @Donner60: I'm working on getting Battle of the Wilderness to GA or A-class. Last time I checked, it had 9,164 views in the past 30 days. Because of the high number of views, I certainly do not want to replace the article with something that is not satisfactory. I have a replacement draft in User:TwoScars/sandbox4. I kept many of the maps and a lot of the text, but added information about the cavalry and many more citations. My next task is to review each citation. A big weakness for me in Wikipedia is adding too much detail, and I have already cut some things out. I also have reservations about still saying the battle was May 5 through May 7, when Gordon C. Rhea call his book "The Battle of the Wilderness May 5-6, 1864". What would be extremely useful would be if someone would look over the sandbox draft, while the current Battle of the Wilderness still exists, to make sure I will not ruin a highly-viewed Wikipedia article. I don't need a detailed look—the new version will still go through Peer Review, GA review, and maybe A-Class review. Thanks TwoScars (talk) 20:59, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

I was reviewing changes, not the entire article. I agree with your interpretation of the text block and the citations. I have removed it. Your edit appeared to be promoting a YouTube channel. YouTube is generally considered an unreliable source. although there may be some exceptions if they comply with guidelines such as those quoted here. Perhaps you can justify the addition in an edit summary if it meets the guidelines if your wish to add it again. Note: Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources: "Most videos on YouTube are anonymous, self-published, and unverifiable, and should not be used at all. Content uploaded from a verified official account, such as that of a news organization, may be treated as originating from the uploader and therefore inheriting their level of reliability. However, many YouTube videos from unofficial accounts are copyright violations and should not be linked from Wikipedia, according to WP:COPYLINK. See also WP:YOUTUBE and WP:VIDEOLINK."

Generally, communications on aspects of articles are not private and should only be on talk pages, not on personal e-mails. Also, Wikipedia guidelines discourage identification of a person's name. That means if you have an account, you are encouraged not to use your name in the e-mail address. If you do not have an account, you can include your e-mail address in your profile for private correspondence. (You edited under an IP address; I do not know if you still do so or have an account since your message is not signed with four tildes.) Some people disclose their names and identity but this was once estimated to be about 5% of users. While the chance of a problem resulting from such disclosure is small, and might well just be transfer of a snarky comment to e-mail rather than talk page, it is not non-existent.
