Edit
I noticed you removed one of my edits and I simply quoted from this source. I didn't want to revert back but you can read it yourself [1]. It was very clear and I put the page number. The URL was not correct so I fixed it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ayaltimo (talk) 20:48, 01 December 2020 (UTC)
- I reverted your edit because "Somali people, who are theorized to be immigrants from southern Ethiopia since 1000 BC or from the Arabian peninsula in the eleventh century" isn't a complete sentence, Ayaltimo (also, theorised by whom?). If that appeared in a book, it might be a sign that the book isn't a reliable source. In any case, you need to place direct quotes from sources inside quote marks. Cordless Larry (talk) 21:00, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- I understand sir but I actually completed the sentence with "However, these theories have been rejected by the new narrative deriving from the archaeological evidence that puts forth that the people of Somalia are the indigenous dwellers of their habitat for the last 7000 years." where it debunks these theories. The author of this book is one of the most credible historians for Somali studies. Could you direct the quote inside the quote mark for me? I can learn this way as I am new to Wikipedia and could appreciate your help. Ayaltimo (talk) 21:36, 01 December 2020 (UTC)
- That addition doesn't correct the fact that the original sentence doesn't make sense. It would be better to paraphrase than quote a grammatically incorrect sentence. Cordless Larry (talk) 22:37, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- I think I wrongfully typed it when I was trying to copy the source. It didn't actually say that but I thought it said that. I'm sorry for the confusion. The original sentences actually says and I quote: "Somali people, who are theorized to be immigrants from southern Ethiopia since 1000 BC or from the Arabian peninsula in the eleventh century. The new narrative deriving from the archaeological evidence puts forth that the people of Somalia are the indigenous dwellers of their habitat for the last 7000 years." Can I just quote this instead? There is no mention of Somali migration and I thought this would be important to add. Ayaltimo (talk) 00:45, 01 December 2020 (UTC)
- As I've explained, the first sentence is ungrammatical, Ayaltimo. Perhaps the author meant "Somali people are theorized to be immigrants...". Cordless Larry (talk) 09:33, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- It's actually me again this time because I missed the first line on the last page that says this. "The first contested narrative is the origin of the Somali people, who are theorized to be immigrants." Can I put this down instead since there is no grammatical error? And thank you for looking out. Ayaltimo (talk) 15:03, 02 December 2020 (UTC)
- Perhaps you could propose that on the article talk page, Ayaltimo? Cordless Larry (talk) 15:05, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- To ask for permission to edit when no one opposes this? I made a simple grammatical error but now that is fixed can I just add this? Ayaltimo (talk) 15:11, 02 December 2020 (UTC)
- If you think it's uncontroversial, then go for it, Ayaltimo. Just remember WP:BRD if anyone challenges it. Cordless Larry (talk) 15:15, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- I will put it in quote mark. Do I have your green light? And yes, I will remember it. Thank you. Ayaltimo (talk) 15:17, 02 December 2020 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 23
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sir Charles Asgill, 2nd Baronet, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Frederick North. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Kaikela Sayanarayana as Yama.jpeg
Hello Mr. Cordless Larry,
I have read your message on Speedy deletion nomination of File:Kaikela Sayanarayana as Yama.jpeg. So, how can I delete it?
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Yours sincerely, Liyaqat — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mohammad Liyaqat (talk • contribs) 10:58, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- You can't delete the file yourself, Mohammad Liyaqat, but an administrator can and will deal with my nomination in due course. Please don't upload images to Wikipedia that you don't own the copyright to in future. Cordless Larry (talk) 11:30, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

unionize yoga - new draft page
Could you help me make a change on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unionize_yoga
I want the title capitalized, as in Unionize Yoga,, but was unable to make the change stick and the 'y' in the title is still lowercase.
Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ovaryian (talk • contribs) 03:45, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, Ovaryian. I've move the article to Draft:Unionize Yoga, correcting the capitalisation but also reflecting the fact that it's still a draft. Just for future reference, the invite you received on your talk page was to ask questions such as this at Wikipedia:Teahouse, where you'll likely get a faster response. Revisions on the Zimbabweans in the UK article
Hi Cordless,
My background is in Southern African history and as such I occasionally work to update articles on that region wherever may apply. While I agree with most of the revisions you made, especially on the numbers of Zimbabweans in the United Kingdom, which can be hard to determine based on various methods of measurement and I did hurriedly add figures without citations. I do though, have a few questions about some of the revisions you made. Firstly, I tried to add more well known examples of people of Zimbabwean background such as Chris Martin of Coldplay fame or Heston Blumenthal that general readers can readily identify rather than the more obscure members of the Bhudhu Boys. Was this incorrect? The former clearly identify with their Zimbabwean background as stated in multiple interviews and their Wiki bios. Happy to add sources if necessary but other notable names on the list did not have sources attached so I did not add those to my additions.
Secondly, I know the importance of historical context in such articles, however Zimbabwe has been independent for 41 years now and references to 'white Rhodesians' seems as inappropriate as calling Derry, Londonderry or Bangladesh, East Pakistan. Also as this was in the 'see also' section didn't see the need to add references, though I am happy to do. And finally the South African British article, references Zimbabwean Brits as a related group, would adding the same in the Zimbabwean article not apply? Again if this is down to references I can add them as well.
I'm not a regular on Wikipedia so happy to hear your opinion on this, my goal was just to update the article as it has not had a major update since 2006-2010, and recognize the need for more references. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.241.232.213 (talk) 04:19, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, this was a tricky partial revert because you'd changed quite a lot in the article, across different sections. My main aim was to revert your addition of unsourced population figures, but there was some collateral damage. Please feel free to restore anything that you think was removed inappropriately. Ideally, the notable people would each have a source, even if that's not been the case with the article so far. Cordless Larry (talk) 13:31, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Comment: Thank you for the information you provided. At least you made me aware to not to copy word-for-word from cited resources but to describe that in one's own words. I apologize for my mistakes. Now I wanna know that when that copied data will be deleted? Can I still use schools
- There are instructions on the templates at Ichgam that explain the procedure for rewriting the text, Kamilalibhat. If that isn't done, then at some point an administrator will remove the material from the article's history and then the templates can be removed. Ordinarily, it's fine to rewrite material from a source using your own words, but I'm not sure whether https://schools.org.in/ is considered a reliable source. It would be better to use sources with editorial control, such as newspapers and books. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:54, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Comment:Cordless Larry, I nominated myself for the change of my username as my username does not meet the username policy of Wikipedia. But my proposed username is already taken. So, now, where can I request another one which is probably not taken. You can look into the matter here and your guidance will be really inspiring. Thank you. AskBot (talk) 05:53, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- You just need to make a request using a name that isn't already used, AskBot. Could you also explain to me why your user page suggests that your account is operated by Kamilalibhat (see User talk:AskBot#Using multiple accounts)? Cordless Larry (talk) 08:29, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
Hello Cordless Larry, I just want to confirm that when will those templates of copyright violation be removed from the page, Ichgam. I want to rewrite thise sections in my own words. - Kamilalibhat (talk) 04:54, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- It's impossible to predict, Kamilalibhat. They'll be removed when someone gets to them. The process might be speeded up if you follow the instructions on the templates and draft proposed replacement text, but there's no guarantee. Cordless Larry (talk) 09:24, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
Templates were removed
Hello Cordless Larry, the copyvio templates were removed by someone on the page, Ichgam. Now I wanna rewrite that content, may I? Thanks! Kamilalibhat (talk) 14:47, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, Kamilalibhat. You don't need to ask for my permission. Cordless Larry (talk) 16:24, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

About EditorThanos
Hello Larry, hope you are fine. I want to login to EditorThanos to tag some pages for speedy deletion. But I had promised you that I will never use any account other than Kamilalibhat to edit Wikipedia (I want to keep that promise rather than breaking your trust on me). So I want you let me do so. Thanks! –Kamilalibhat ⟨talk⟩ 16:46, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for asking for advice on this, Kamilalibhat. Is there a reason why you can't tag the pages using your main account? Cordless Larry (talk) 17:02, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi Larry, as you can see I was recently granted the rollback permission. Whenever I try to revert the edits using rollback button, it asks confirmation. Does this happen to everyone or I'm the exception? Thanks! –Kamilalibhat ⟨talk⟩ 08:59, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- I don't often use rollback, Kamilalibhat, but that doesn't sound familiar. There's some info at Wikipedia:Rollback#Accidental use of rollback. It would be worth asking at the Teahouse, where I'm sure someone will know more. Cordless Larry (talk) 09:11, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
Crossmedia20 & Highlandhd
Hi Cordless Larry, Thanks for your guidance. I am not able to login from my original account Crossmedia20 as it's globally blocked due to sockpuppet of User:Jagdeep singh bittu. However, I am using the same IP I used for my accounts. I firstly created Crossmedia20 in December 2020 but I was blocked citing the sockpuppet of Jagdeep singh bittu. I had put all my efforts to get it unblocked by giving clarifications and reasons on talk page and in unblock appeals but my requests were not addressed. I was so disappointed and even the genuine page of musician Navi Ferozpurwala, who is having significant coverages in reliable sources got deleted.
With no choice left, I created User:Chopra1995 and faced the same situation. Just these two were my Ids and I would request you to check the nature of my edits from these ids, you will find every thing similar but rest of Ids created by Jagdeep Singh Bittu have different nature of edits. He used mobile web to make edits, made copyright violations, never tried to interact with administrators from any of his sockpuppets. I am very keen to edit Wikipedia and keep it up to date. I wanted to invest my time by keeping this encyclopedia updated but my two months gone wasted just because of Jagdeep Singh Bittu's mistakes. The area of interest was similar but the intention and nature of edits were completely different.
In the last, I request you to pls help me in unblocking Crossmedia20 so that I can give a fresh start and could learn more things from administrators like you. Removal of sockpuppet tag of Jagdeep Singh Bittu will help me a lot and I can continue happy editing. I hope you understand my situation and do the needful. 122.173.229.11 (talk) 17:55, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- I suggest you post this explanation at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Jagdeep singh bittu, where the case is being investigated. Cordless Larry (talk) 17:59, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- I have posted it. 122.173.229.11 (talk) 19:54, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Larry, I am still waiting for someones response on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Jagdeep singh bittu to my message. Could you pls suggest what should I do. Shall I start editing from User:Highlandhd or I should wait till the investigation ends? — Preceding undated comment added 17:11, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- There's nothing formally in place to prevent you from editing at present, Highlandhd. I've tried to speed the sockpuppet investigation along a bit. Cordless Larry (talk) 09:03, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks Cordless Larry Highlandhd (talk) 09:30, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
RE: Relativity between Two same things discussion
So what I meant by saying that was that it is important to take a middle stance between conflicting sources, For example: I prefer CNN over Fox news, But I still watch both news programs. I did not intend however, to suggest using unreliable sources, an example on this is that I would most certainly take a stance agreeing with an article that NASA published over one created, by say... a local newspaper, I may agree with that newspaper on many things and favor them over NASA, due to their proximity and relevance, but it simply lacks the resources to do research on the same scale as NASA, but I would agree with it over NASA, say on something like whether or not someone in my city just won an election to become mayor, due to their expertise on local matters.
The reason why I said to take the middle ground was in the case of two sources, that either are of equal relevance to the situation, or are at contrasting political views, this approach also assumes that another, reputable, source does not exist in the middle ground... in which case, if one is present, I would use that source rather than the others.
As to the point that you made on citing WP:NPOV, which tells us that we should be "representing fairly, proportionately, and, as far as possible, without editorial bias, all the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic" (yes I just copy pasted your copy paste XD), This is a valid point, and a good observation that I should have put into my post, my focus with this was on the part without editorial bias, and the best way I saw to uphold that was by cross-referencing even things I automatically would take as true fact, which I saw as relevant to the argument, which I was seeking to deescalate, I was seeing the political nature of the argument, and to me, Neutrality would be the best counter to this type of bias. I was not saying to use an unreliable source, but meant by my comment, that in cases of conflicting views on events, It is best to just stick to the middle-ground to avoid losing the neutral stand-point in the midst of unclear fact, if a News source is arguing with another, Typically, in my own personal experience, the one sitting quietly in the corner raising their hand, is generally more accurate then the other 2 loudly arguing their side of the story. Ultimately, avoiding news agencies altogether would be ideal, but I understand that it is something that is much easier said than done, and in many cases, might be entirely impossible altogether. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kiritami (621) (talk • contribs) 17:38, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation, Kiritami (621). I doubt that the editor you were responding to was arguing from a position of good faith, but I appreciate that you are. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:01, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
-thank you for getting me to put up an explanation, I likely would have been bored without having to provide one. Kiri621x (talk) 16:46, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
Un canard?
You blocked an IP, 88.136.189.166 (talk · contribs), who's devoted to articles about France and people of various nationalities who live in various other countries. Normally I'd call 85.27.124.232 (talk · contribs) stale – they've not edited since 21 February – but given the length of the block, thought it worth mentioning. 85.27.124.232 is Belgian rather than French. Their tastes in subject matter closely resemble 88.136.189.166's; the interaction analyser found two articles they'd edited within hours of each other, and 85.27.124.232 has edited List of French people of immigrant origin and Moroccans in France. Do you hear quacking? BlackcurrantTea (talk) 13:00, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- Possibly, BlackcurrantTea, but the issue with the blocked IP was mainly addition of unsourced (made-up) statistics, whereas this other IP seems to be more interested in notable people. Given that the address hasn't been used for a few weeks, I suggest we leave it for now but keep an eye out for anything suspicious if its use resumes. Cordless Larry (talk) 12:23, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- Ok. Thank you for taking a look. BlackcurrantTea (talk) 12:51, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
Helping other editors
Hi - Rather than carrying on the conversation on the Asgill page, I hope you will forgive me for raising an issue with you on your talk page. I have quietly been writing content for wikipedia since the early days of the platform: mainly military biographies, company histories or, in more recent years, articles on public buildings. I used to regard it as a "public duty" to devote some of my time to helping others by responding to edit requests. That is how I can across Anne and had been helping her for many years. I voluntarily decided to withdraw from working on edit requests some 6 months ago after being criticised by an admin for adding a few sentences, which I regarded as well presented and factual, to an article on behalf of a conflicted editor. In my view, there is not much point in assisting in this area if it is not appreciated by the community. But my reason for raising the issue with you is that the whole edit request system seems to be broken. There is a backlog of some 224 edit requests going back over four months which, in my recollection, is as bad as it has ever been. Meanwhile paid editors are not complying with the edit request system: you just have to look at Ferrexpo, Kingspan and Ocado to see that that conflicted editors are now inserting text directly into articles with impunity. In the real world there would be leadership from seniors to fix a broken system but because wikipedia is a community such issues never get addressed. Your thoughts would be welcome. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 23:52, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for raising this, Dormskirk. I realised that there was a backlog, but not that it was quite that large. For a while, one editor was spending most of their time responding to requests, but then for whatever reason they stopped and the backlog appeared. We shouldn't really be reliant on single individuals to do this work, obviously. Would you be happy for me to raise this, mentioning you, on the administrators' noticeboard? Cordless Larry (talk) 12:50, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, that would be great. Many thanks. Dormskirk (talk) 13:20, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- (coming from the thread) Dormskirk: thank you for your contributions and past work attending to that queue: it is appreciated. –xenotalk 15:25, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- Xeno - Thanks for that. Best wishes, Dormskirk (talk) 15:57, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

Saw your thoughts on a certain talkpage about linking to specific pages of an online source - this is a bit of hack and may not strictly be best practice but it works.

Suddenly you put two of the articles for deleting, that's ok, no issue, but in one of the articles you said "paid editing" so kindly don't assume it from yourself. I created those article from these section https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested_articles/music and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_United_States/Requested_Articles
Administrators and Editors posted there that the article should be created by Danny Dean and Teddy Dief so i created the article from there, so how is it paid editing? --Static Hash (talk) 13:53, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation, Static Hash. The message I posted on your talk page said that "the nature of your edits...gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic", not that you definitely do have such a conflict of interest. Rather than deleting these messages, it would be better if you responded to them, explaining that you aren't engaged in paid editing, if that is indeed the case. Cordless Larry (talk) 14:23, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
Cordless Larry First of all, you should have asked me instead of deleting those two pages as one person has asked me on my talk page, but you put the deletion tag without even responding to me, so it's useless to clarify to you that I am not here for paid editing. I just created the articles from the Wikipedia section and that's it. I am not using multiple accounts btw, thanks for everything and if I was doing paid editing here then the administrators and the editors who were involved in editing the page with me would have notify me anyways thanks. --Static Hash (talk) 14:31, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- I haven't deleted the articles, Static Hash. I nominated them for deletion and discussion will now take place. The deletion nominations aren't because I suspected you of paid editing, but because the article subjects don't seem notable. Cordless Larry (talk) 14:43, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
Cordless Larry Sorry Administrator sir, I totally disagree with you, if those two pages were seriously not passing the notability of Wikipedia then the administrator and other editors would have nominated for deletion by themselves when they were working :) but today suddenly two pages you nominated for deletion means because of the edit which I made yesterday and that's how you start interrogating all my articles but no issue have a good day sir :) But I'd like to clarify again, I am not here for paid editing not for any policy violation so if any text or article shows promotional instead of nominated for deletion you should have remove that line or paragraph :) Btw on this page Danny Dean a 14 years old editor was working on the page and if it was not notable or not passing the WP:GNG then he would have nominated it for AFD in January 2021.
--Static Hash (talk) 14:48, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- You're welcome to make these arguments in the deletion discussions, but I'd point out that sometimes articles languish on Wikipedia for years before editors notice that they don't seem to meet the notability criteria. Cordless Larry (talk) 15:02, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
I appreciate your clarification at the AFC Helpdesk
Thank you for making that clarification. As I am sure you can see, I have some concerns about the editor, concerns I have tried to make clear while seeking to remain businesslike. I have now fully stepped away from conversation with them after one final contribution on their talk page this morning.
I also share some of their concerns about the reviewer's lack of communication, but have chosen to AGF that their time on Wikipedia may be limited sufficiently that they find themselves unable to make a reply. Fiddle Faddle 07:51, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, understood, Timtrent. Editors who appear to be using Wikipedia for promotion (whether they realise that or not) shouldn't be prioritised over volunteer reviewers. I just thought there might have been a misunderstanding about the outing issue, so wanted to clarify that. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:57, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Inquiry about your removal of a wikipedia edit?
Hi Larry, I'm writing regarding your recent message on my first Wikipedia edit as below, I don't think I have written anything imbalanced or wrong. Really appreciate for your further comments, as I wish to write and share more on Wikipedia.
Copy/paste your message in my talk page: I'm Cordless Larry. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Malaysians in the United Kingdom seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. - Hello, Anaspauzi1617. I thought some of your wording was promotional (e.g. "is devoted to promoting comprehensive Islamic values and excellence"). The sources you cited were also published by the organisations concerned, whereas ideally content should be based on independent sources, which are about but not by the organisations. Regarding Deletion
Hi Cordless Larry, you recently deleted an article G4 because of recreation so allow me to explain. The page https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Raybak_Abdesselem&action=edit&redlink=1 was deleted in Jan 2021, I recreated it with 5 new news article including Olympics detail but instead of creating a draft I accidentally moved the page, so please undelete the page or move it to draft so it can be reviewed again. Deleting the page without being review is unfair so please restore the page and move it to draft so I can make this page better and few more references. I repeat the previous references were used but with the new one that says about the athlete in-depth even olympics.com has mentioned the athlete and Tokyo Olympics has featured him too. --Static Hash (talk) 06:07, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how you managed to accidentally move the page, Static Hash, as that's quite a complicated thing to do, but in any case, I'll assume good faith and restore it as a draft for submission to WP:AFC. Cordless Larry (talk) 13:12, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
- Hi I just click on the moved button and moved the page, that's what I did yesterday accidentally, anyways thank you so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Static Hash (talk • contribs) 13:18, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
Pretty Loud
Thanks for the reinforcement on Pretty Loud, and the link. I've incorporated it (perhaps not very smoothly...) - in fact, I had just discovered it shortly after posting this page. Martha (talk) 21:50, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- No problem, Martha Forsyth. I don't have time to work on the article now, but the key is to summarise what the sources tell us about the band, rather than writing about the sources (as you've done with "Pretty Loud has been getting attention, especially in the European press" and "Another interview appeared in the Albanian press"). Cordless Larry (talk) 21:57, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks again - I got into a little mess within the past hour and I think I've been messing up things other people had fixed....as I said above on the Talk page, I'm going to try to get out of the way now and let things settle down. (It was reference #4 that I'd messed around with.) Martha (talk) 23:29, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
Reinstating an article (follow-up to your response)
Hi, and thanks for responding on my query: Better content would require sources, but the article was redirected because of a lack of them. Are you able to suggest any? Wikipedia's notability requirements dictate that we need substantial, independent coverage, which in your case could be profiles in newspapers or perhaps cricket magazines. Cordless Larry (talk) 20:09, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
I have a few links I could immediately find below, but can share more and obviously add textual content that would be of interest to read and share. Please let me know how this can be achieved in order for the article to be reinstated once approved:

Tafari Benti
Tafari Benti is an ethnic Oromo, why change it? Amhara Man 06 (talk) 08:39, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
- Because you didn't cite a source and you used a misleading edit summary, Amhara Man 06; you weren't fixing a typo. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:42, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
Did you remove the sentence where I said Mengistu was Oromo under his biography? I Cited a source next to it Amhara Man 06 (talk) 08:53, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
- No, Amhara Man 06, that was someone else. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:55, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
Can I change it back? I cited the source Amhara Man 06 (talk) 08:57, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
- If you make an addition to an article and it's reverted, the best thing to do is start a discussion on the article's talk page, Amhara Man 06. See WP:BRD on this. Cordless Larry (talk) 15:45, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
The person who reverted it is on an anonymous account, and also I cited a source(Mengistu Haile Mariam) why remove it? Isn't that vandalism Amhara Man 06 (talk) 21:22, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
- They explained their revert using the edit summary; it wasn't vandalism. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:46, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
My Draft on LaTonya Holmes
I tried to create a page about LaTonya Holmes because I thought since all these other voice actors and actresses have information about them on Wikipedia, I thought she would deserved one too. But unfortunately my information and sources were not approved. They show insignificant coverage and does not qualify as a Wikipedia article. And that IMDb is not an acceptable source. Do you think you or some other experts on Wikipedia can edit this article or make it even better? If you think this is not worth making or a complete waste of time then I understand. Thank you for your time.
Charle Barkerson — Preceding unsigned comment added by Charle Barkerson (talk • contribs) 15:13, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- You'd be best asking at the Teahouse about this, Charle Barkerson, but the basic problem is that you haven't cited any soures in Draft:LaTonya Holmes. Everything in an article should be referenced to a reliable source, and those sources need to demonstrate that there is significant coverage of the individual concerned (so profiles in newspapers, magazines, etc.). Related ethnic groups
Hi Larry, hopefully the discussion about the relationship between ethnic groups will now run its course at Talk:English people. During the process, I placed the warning tag on Alssa1's page as he appeared to be involved in a history of repeated edit reversion at English people without discussions being opened. If that's wrong I'm happy to remove it. However, the warning he placed on my talk page was no more than a tit-for-tat retaliation and I'd be grateful for your approval to removal it. I only made 2 edits of the article which AFAICS does not qualify as edit warring. In fact, if someone reverts my initial reversion, I usually do one more re-revert and encourage them to follow WP:BRD as I did in this case. Can I remove the tag or does that need a third party? Bermicourt (talk) 16:46, 9 July 2021 (UTC)

- No problem, Gushiken.Wiki. The best approach is to find sources first and then to summarise them in an addition to an article, rather than adding something and then retrospectively looking for a source to support it. Everything we add to Wikipedia should reflect what reliable sources say, not our own understanding of a topic. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:24, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

- Hi Gushiken.Wiki, I saw your contribution over at United Kingdom and this conversation. I have no idea how to reply to any talk pages :kekw:
I have read the wiki pages. It does not make any sense for me, and it would be better if there was a graphic explanation, which it doesn't have. The only ones I understand/understood was that the materials are supposed to be either physical or something. Is there a graphical explanation (basically a chart/image) for secondary sources?
Also, Wikipedia's system of talking makes me unable to reply to anyone (the explanation makes me even more confused than understanding, like literally every page here), so I would like help if you can send an image/link an image of an example of how to reply, like am image that shows which text should be where. I would be very grateful if you do. I have copied and pasted templates from edit source for everything, and there is nothing about how to make an edit become a message/talk page message, which would be sent to the recipent as an alert that someone has replied. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Misser420 (talk • contribs) 10:26, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I don't know of a graphical explanation of primary and secondary sources, Misser420. To reply at the Teahouse, go to Wikipedia:Teahouse#Can someone explain in detail what reliable secondary sources mean? and click the "edit" link next to the section heading. You can then add your reply or comments at the bottom of the edit window that opens up for that section. See Help:Talk pages for a general guide to how discussion pages work. Cordless Larry (talk) 17:01, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
I have visited the Help:Talk page, which has been even less than useless. It is not useful at all, and I am only able to reply on a mobile device, because there is literally a reply box where I can reply like this (I am currently typing on my phone to reply at this time). I think I might have understood what the secondary sources/primary difference is, but I'm pretty much sure I'm wrong (It would be helpful if someone just drew the entire thing on paint with boxes and text to make it simple to understand). Anyway, thanks for trying. Misser420 (talk) 16:08, 3 September 2021 (UTC)

- Hello, NNYArtist. Please see Commons:File renaming for instructions. Cordless Larry (talk) 06:24, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
Yes .. thank you .. the problem falls under item 3. .. To correct obvious errors in filenames .. I lack the authority at Commons to change the file .. could you change it for me. Thank you Ted — Preceding unsigned comment added by NNYArtist (talk • contribs) 16:07, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- I don't have permission either, NNYArtist. You'll need to follow the instructions at Commons:Commons:File renaming#How to rename a file. By the way, I notice you're uploading images to Commons using a Creative Commons license, but from the descriptions it's clear you're not the copyright holder, so you can't release them under that license. Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled
A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:05, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
