Zelda Games being Remade
edit"...yet Tingle has been in every Zelda game since his debut in Majora's Mask except for the remake of A Link to the Past that was released on the GameBoy Advance..." Since when has Zelda ever been remade? (Excluding Japan-Only BS games.) Gho g't it 01:58, 9 January 2007 (UTC) # Gho g't it
Koloo Limpah
edit...Koloo Limpah? I have only played Majora's Mask, but I know Tingle constantly says this phrase in that game. Is that true of all of the others? Perhaps it should be mentioned. --Jacqui M Schedler 18:23, 28 August 2005 (UTC)
- To my knowledge, in Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Oracle of Ages, and Minish Cap, he has always said this. The Missing Link 22:56, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

Tingle IN TP
editSomething just recently came up in some Zelda boards, Tingle could be in Twilight Princess, the STAR shop keeper could possibly be him:
http://www.mdtauk.screaming.net/tp-tingle.jpg -The hood -The birthmark -The clock Could we put "some people speculate that the STAR shop keeper is Tingle" in the article? - Luigi128
Well Ill put it anyway - Luigi128
In the February 2007 issue of Nintendo Dream (aka Nindori, see www.nindori.com), Eiji Aonuma says in an interview that the Star Game shopkeeper is indeed Tinkle. (It's on page 16.) The character has a different name (ダンチョウ Dancho in Japanese), but according to Aonuma he is indeed Tinkle. Here's a rough translation:
Aonuma: Also, did you realise that Real Tinkle also lives in the Castle Market?
Interviewer: What?! Are you kidding?
Aonuma: (With a bit of a nasty expression) He's there, isn't he? In the Castle Town. (Laughs)
Interviewer: Maybe... Is he that star man?
Aonuma: That's right. (Laughs) But Tinkle appears in some other games, so here he's not called "Tinkle". But that star man is the result of wondering what a realistic Tinkle would look like, and he's based on a rough sketch that Nakano (Yuusuke Nakano, Main Character Designer) made at the beginning of development.
Interviewer: He looks so cool, it's hard to imagine that he's Tinkle.
Aonuma: He came out of thinking, "What would happen if a really cool guy wore those green clothes?" [In this game] we've taken references from the previous games and made all sorts of changes.
So there you have it. I think this is definitely significant enough to be added to this page. Thorf 20:50, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
I was thinking there's a more exact match in the Snowpeak Ruins in the form of some of those blurry paintings. Two of them are in the foyer, up the stairs on either side. I don't know if it's intended to be of him, however. Nyperold (talk) 15:40, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
source for Tingle not being back for twilight princess?
editCould someone please provide a reference link for the article for the statement "It has been announced that Tingle will not appear in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess, due to poor fan support in the U.S."? I can vaguely remember either Aonuma or Miyomoto talking about Tingle being unpopular in the non Japanese areas, but some quick googling turned up nothing. If nobody can find anything, I'll delete that statement in a few days. --Codemonkey 01:24, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
- Removed it for now. --Codemonkey 16:27, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
- I removed it again a while back, and once again a google search shows nothing. Since someone insists on adding it without giving a citation, it is probably vandalism, but A Link to the Past (user) is free to add it again with a ‹The template Talkfact is being considered for merging.› [citation needed] if he really cares that much.

editShould there be anything in this article about the fan community's contempt (and frequent derision) for Tingle, concerning both his *ahem* orientation and the extortionate price of his serivces in TWW? Setokaiba✌≝ 15:32, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Appearances Image
editIs the image under Appearances (Z18oa-storyzelda.gif) really necessary or appropriate? It seems to be satirical and doesn't really fit with the rest of the section. Also, the pink fairy woman who appears in the last panel isn't mentioned anywhere in the article and only briefly in the Land of the Legend.net reference. If someone can get them, it might be better to have screenshots of the Tingle in the various games. Opinions? Corbo 16:52, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I added it because it's Nintendo's own view on his appearances of Tingle in the Zelda games, satirical or not. That's why I thought it fitting.
- I made a brief comment on Pingle in the article, just to have it there, though I plan to do a little extra section on 'Tingle characters' a little later on.
- I'll leave it to you whether or not you find it fitting. Just my two cents why I did. Hyrule 20:52, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- I added a note explaining the image. It seems to be alright for now, but screenshots would still be good if anyone can get them. Corbo 09:04, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Tingle in gay list
editIs there any relevance to Tingle being number one on on some dumb list about "gay" video game characters? I'd delete the comment from the article, but someone will put it back again. I'm just wondering if this "info" is really important to know. --SaturnYoshi 03:29, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- I've researched this thorougly, and I guess the link can stay. I ran the list through Google News, and various news sources came up with it ([1], [2], [3], [4]). I think it deserves at least one mention.—♦♦ SʘʘTHING(Я) 08:35, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's OR. Nowhere in the games does it actually state that Tingle is gay, so the information is OR. --Zooba 08:09, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- See below. I think it's less likely that he is gay, and more likely he is either mentally ill or developmentally disabled. -- 12.116.162.162 19:56, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Fictional Characters With Mental Illnesses
editNegative attititudes towards Tingle aside, why in the world is he in the Fictional Characters With Mental Illnesses category? Strictly speaking canonically, he is perfectly sane if not a little obsessed (like you know, a fan) with fairies. Is there any good reason to keep him listed in that category? --Gamehiker 16:12, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- It might be a form of vandalism that has been overlooked. There is nothing to claim that Tingle suffers from any kind of mental illness. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 08:54, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Actual Name In Japanese
editIt appears as though Tingle's original Japanese name is more like "Tinkle" rather than "Tingle," as the phonetic "gu" does not appear anywhere in his original name. Also, the romanization of the first of the katakana comes out to CHI, not TI. Minor quibble. Edited main page to reflect this. I think it's pretty clear why his name was altered for Western releases. BaronVasDeferens
- Well, 'ti' would always come out 'chi', but yeah, it's Tinkle. Obviously kind of a pun on Tinkerbell, since he's a fairy-loving green-suited man that doesn't wanna grow up. Still, I'm forced to wonder if there isn't a chinko pun in there..
- Or just plain Tinkle.. I mean that's.. already both kinda homosexual and a urinary reference. ^_^' Speaking of the ol' boy's real name, shouldn't the Japanese title of his new game be TINKLE's fresh rose-scented toilet paper rupee land, or whatever, not 'Tingle's? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.72.20.191 (talk) 04:50, 6 March 2007 (UTC).
The man frightens small children and I have proof
editI have a little brother, and he likes to watch me play the Zelda games. When I got to the scene in WindWaker with Tingle in prison, he got spooked and scooted in really close to me. Now, this is the boy who had watched Poltergeist, the Christopher Lee Dracula, The Sixth Sense, and even George Romero's Night of the Living Dead without blinking an eye or losing any sleep, yet after seeing Tingle in WindWaker, he had nightmares for two nights. If there are other accounts of this happening, this should be included here and in the WindWaker article. Bucky 07:37, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Tingle merge
editI've taken it upon myself to begin a merge discussion for this character in particular, as he is definitely more notable than that miniature discussion held here earlier. - A Link to the Past (talk) 17:26, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, tingle was even an almost fully playeable charcter in the Wind Waker. The merging request should be removed, he is well over most other recurring charcters in his importance to the story, even ganing his own video game. I personaly like tingle, and find it kinda odd that people go ahead and call him a pedofile. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Djtjj (talk • contribs).
- I'm deleting the tag, as Tingle is a recurring character in the series and, having received two of his own games, is certainly notable enough. --Zooba 08:13, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Different Tingle
editI have edited the Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland section to say "However, due to the way the story plays out and ends, it is almost certain that it is a different Tingle to the one (or ones) in the Zelda series.", but some eejit keeps deleting it.
It is not speculation, it is obvious. The ending of the game, the true ending if one collects everything, has, SPOILERS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, Tingle being reverted to his old self, becoming rich, and no longer being Tingle. Couple that with the fact that the Tingle in Majora's Mask is merely a middle-aged man dressed in green due to his love for fairies rather than a magical being which needs rupees to survive, and this is clear. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.143.137.213 (talk) 23:36, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- So where is this absolutely definite confirmation that Tingle never changes after the events of Rosy Rupeeland, then? And I am no eejit, Mr. Lack of Good Faith. Haipa Doragon (talk) 23:52, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Since the issue of multiple Tingles is already addressed in the article, there is no need to re-add this unless a source can be provided that explicity states it to be the case. `If such a source can be provided, feel free to re-add the information and provide the source. Any attempt to re-add it without a source will be reverted. Rhindle The Red 06:10, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Alright, but can we at least remove the thing which says it explains how he becomes the Tingle seen in other Zelda games, since we don't know for sure that he is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.159.20.27 (talk) 15:39, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Merge in Balloon Fight DS here
editPlease take a look before voicing an opinion Tingle's Balloon Fight DS As you can see, it was never officially released, it was given only to Japanese members of Club Nintendo and is basically a permanent stub. It would bulk up this article though and eliminate a stub while not losing any information. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 19:11, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- The release to members of Club Nintendo *was* an official release. I, personally, don't mind if it is merged, but I can't see the point of it. There is no reason to assume that it will be a "permanent stub", as many of the missing bits *can* be found. Will they? Who knows? But merging a page for the sake of it seems pointless to me... Rhindle The Red (talk) 04:42, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Its not pointless, its part of building a featured topic, so the stubby articles are merged so we have bigger, more comprehensive articles that can be featured. If there ever is any information to come out, it could have its own article again, but that is speculation on my part. For now, it's stuck. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 20:53, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- I just don't see how merging a separate, but related, topic makes Tingle any better. It just makes it less focused, to my mind. Leave them separate and work to improve them both would be my suggestion.Rhindle The Red (talk) 04:17, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- But that is the point, is that it can't be improved, there are not nearly enough references, which is the idea behind the merge. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 02:14, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Wait. One person (who proposed the idea) was for the merge, one was against it and the merger was never proposed on the TBF page. How did this happen? TheUncleBob (talk) 17:04, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
- I would oppose this merge. If it comes to it, you might be able to get it into a FT as an audited article of limited subject matter, however as there are no minimum length rules when it comes to GA, I would hope that you should be able to properly research the article and get it to that standard - rst20xx (talk) 22:14, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Three people have stated opposition to the merge, while one person is for it. Can we kill this idea now? TheUncleBob (talk) 14:35, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- Does Tingle's Balloon Fight DS have anything that would allow it to have a competent article? - A Link to the Past (talk) 19:14, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'd say as more of an article than Zekkyō_Senshi_Sakeburein. There's a pretty decent article already there. TheUncleBob (talk) 04:11, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Are there any cross-references between Kororinpa and The LoZ series? -Thibbs (talk) 20:16, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Category suggestions
edit- Fictional salespeople
- Humor and wit characters
- Comments? - A Link to the Past (talk) 07:14, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Salespeople I can definitely agree with per his roles in MM and TWW, but I'd say, with the sources the article currently has, Humor and wit is too opinionated. Strictly, the best way to back up the latter category is to provide first-party information stating that is his purpose. Haipa Doragon (talk • contributions) 15:25, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Creator of Tingle
editWho created Tingle? Well, during this interview by Nintendo of Europe, Kensuke Tanabe (producer of Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland) said that Tingle "was created in a very relaxed manner by a character designer at EAD, who was also in charge of character design of F-Zero and Star Fox." This description would fit with the designer Takaya Imamura, who served as the art director of Majora's Mask and did indeed design the original F-Zero and Star Fox characters (at least the respective articles say so). Furthermore, Imamura's name appears under "Very Special Thanks" in the credits of Rosy Rupeeland. So, is this interview a definite answer on Tingle's creator or would it be too speculative? --Grandy02 (talk) 12:53, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Definitely too speculative. Unless there's an explicit statement somewhere that confirms this, Wikipedia shouldn't cover it. Haipa Doragon (talk • contributions) 22:52, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. --Grandy02 (talk) 13:13, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Tincle?
editWhat the hey? Shouldn't that be Tinkle? Granted, either way is just an approximation of the Japanese, but clearly, Tinkle makes much more sense as an anglicization than Tincle.76.226.200.238 (talk) 00:23, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Main image
editThe current main image shows Tingle's appearance in The Wind Waker. However, in his own series it seems that they prefer one specific appearance (notably bigger head), as seen in Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, the recent DSiWare title and the upcoming sequel of Rosy Rupeeland. What do you think, shouldn't the main image rather show this version of Tingle? --Grandy02 (talk) 13:10, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- I would say yes.Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 22:28, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Tingle's Japanese name
editAccording to the article, Tingle is known as Tincle in Japan. It would make sense, since it's Chinkuru. However, it seems the only official sources to back that up are some URLs of nintendo.co.jp. In the Japanese version of Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, the Punch-Out!! parody boss fight uses the spelling Tingle (screenshot). And one downloadable file on the site of the recent DSiWare title (link) is called "tingle_saver.zip". Well, maybe Tingle is also valid because of rendaku or something (sorry, don't know Japanese)? Anyway, it seems that there is still no definite romanization of Tingle's name in Japan, so maybe we should change the current statement to the following:
- Tingle (チンクル, Chinkuru, also romanized as Tincle in Japanese materials)[1]
Would that be okay? --Grandy02 (talk) 13:35, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- Nobody answered, but I felt so free and changed it. Tingle is the only official romanization used in a game in Japan as far as I know, and this spelling has also been used for the alternate box art of the Japan-exclusive Tingle's Balloon Fight DS. --Grandy02 (talk) 11:26, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Creation and conception
editThese two pages at Nintendo's Japanese website might be very useful for the "Creation and conception" section: [10] [11]. Both are parts of in-depth interviews, the first one on Majora's Mask, while the latter one is about Tingle's recent starring appearance Irozuki Tingle no Koi no Balloon Trip. It's entirely in Japanese, but I don't know the language, could anybody translate? The latter page even seems to confirm what the interview I mentioned before implied: that Takaya Imamura created Tingle (a photo of him "dressed" as Tingle is next to Tingle artwork from Majora's Mask). Help, please! --Grandy02 (talk) 13:10, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: pages moved as proposed. I think there's a consensus for the first and a mild consensus for the second/not a consensus for the primary redirect to Paresthesia. If someone wants to open up a discussion about that outside of this, they're free to do so. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:17, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
– The term "tingle" has a strong historical connection to the subject at Paresthesia, which the redirect Tingling sensation targets. For this reason, in addition to the character being notable as well (but not more notable than the concept of the sensation sometimes called a "tingle"), there is no primary topic. (Also, I chose the disambiguator "(character)" for this request instead of "(The Legend of Zelda)" since this character seems to have a video game series independent of The Legend of Zelda.) - Support per WP:ASTONISH, a Google search doesn't return the character on the 1st page of results but an Images search does. Its not clear how much weight we give to Google since most of those are simply dictionary results but at least we do have Tingle (song) so its not like its the only topic here with this title. - Support per nom, per WP:ASTONISH. No primary topic, move disambiguation page to basename. Paintspot Infez (talk) 22:58, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support well spotted. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:58, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
- Powerful Support I think every word-named character on Wikipedia must have this!!!! Vaati the Wind Demon (talk) 13:14, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support first, Oppose second - should be a redirect to Paresthesia Red Slash 21:01, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support alternate move to Tingle (The Legend of Zelda) and ONLY that. Make Tingle a primary redirect to Paresthesia. I think it's fine, since the Tingle series is a clear Zelda spinoff.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 04:55, 28 July 2019 (UTC)
- Agnostic on the proposal but oppose a redirect of tingle to paresthesia. — AjaxSmack 15:34, 28 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support first, Oppose second and instead primary redirect to Paresthesia. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:29, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Source
editA pretty lengthy source about Tingle, if his notability is ever questioned. Sergecross73 msg me 01:26, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
No physical description?
editIt looks like the recent revisions to the article have left it without a physical description beyond "creepy", "35-year-old" and "green costume". Does this section need to be restored from the old version?

- I mean there's "He is a 35-year-old man who is obsessed with the "forest fairies" known as the Kokiri and dresses up in a green costume". Doesn't really need a lot else?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 15:04, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
- Tingle is consistently short, pudgy, rosy-cheeked and decked out in Flavor Flav bling, all deliberate and very much a part of his identity. SaidSwans (talk) 12:01, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
