This article is 75% about the fact that Le Gallienne was a lesbian and who her lovers were, sort of breezing through her accomplishments and the entire reason she's worth learning about today. I will clean up the article myself if it comes to it, because it's really maddening that the article is mostly about her sexual partners instead of her artistic achievements. Eva Le Gallienne was a theatrical genius and unparalleled in her time, yet all we really get in this article is who she dated. Clarify, please

Le Gallienne was presented with a special Tony Award... in honour of her work with the National Repertory Theatre.

Does this refer to the American Repertory Theater (1946-48), or is it a general reference to repertory activity in America? Valetude (talk) 15:34, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

I believe the theatre's actual name was the National Repertory Theatre, not American Repertory Theatre, nad is for her work with that theatre (and her career in general) that she received a Tony. BMK (talk) 02:38, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Le Gallienne as a translator?

I learned that Le Gallienne translated Ibsen, and seeing here that her mother was Danish, that makes sense. I would be most interested to see some expansion of that area of her work here. Many thanks to all who contribute.Sradovsk (talk) 14:38, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

Eva Le Gallienne (1899–1991) was a British-born American stage actress, producer, director, translator, and author. A Broadway star by age 21, Le Gallienne gave up her Broadway appearances to devote herself to founding the Civic Repertory Theatre, in which she was both director, producer, and lead actress. Noted for her boldness and idealism, she became a pioneering figure in the American repertory movement, which enabled today's off-Broadway. A versatile and eloquent actress herself (playing roles ranging from Peter Pan to Hamlet), Le Gallienne also became a respected stage director, coach, producer and manager.

The Sewing Circle

The description of the sewing circle code in the article for lesbian circles was actually never known in Hollywood.(1920s - 50s) The phrase was coined by Kenneth Anger in the Hollywood Babylon books (1970s) and contains many false allegations.
