Booze cruise → Alcohol tourism – Limiting this article to what is described in the UK as a "booze cruise" prevents the scope of this article from incorporating similar practices elsewhere, such as trips from Finland to Estonia to buy cheap alcohol: see e.g. [1] [2] [3]. feminist (talk) 10:15, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

• A generic title would be better, but I'm not sure "alcohol tourism" is necessarily it. That phrase seems more commonly used to describe people travelling to a different country to drink alcohol, whether that's present-day Brits on holiday in Spain, or Americans travelling to the Caribbean in the 1920s. --Lord Belbury (talk) 11:18, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

• Weak oppose: The proposed title sounds like it is about tourism activities for people who like to drink a lot while they are travelling. That is not what it is about. (The current title somewhat has that problem too, but the proposed move would further aggravate the problem.) Also, per the remarks by Lord Belbury and Rreagan007, is this proposing to broaden the scope of the article to include all border crossings in the world that are intended for alcohol purchasing? If so, a more precise description would be something like Alchohol purchasing tourism or Cross-border travel for alcohol purchasing. —⁠ ⁠BarrelProof (talk) 17:27, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
  • Or even more broadly, Shopping tourism or Cross-border travel for shopping. Why limit it to alcohol? The phenomenon is basically the same regardless of what is being purchased, and the article already discusses tobacco products as well as alcohol. —⁠ ⁠BarrelProof (talk) 19:44, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

• Probably makes sense since WP is not a dictionary unless there's a significant amount of content to say about the term "Booze cruise" beyond a dictionary definition. I'd only heard the term here. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:40, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
• I think there's value in having an article dedicated to the specific phenomenon discussed here. Rather than expanding this article's scope, I would suggest just creating a separate article at Alcohol tourism (or whatever) that discusses the broader phenomenon, with a summary of and link to this page. • Oppose - As the article states, "This article is about the British practice of buying alcohol and tobacco products from mainland Europe". As it is about the British practice, WP:MOSTIES dictates that British English is used, and in British English, the WP:COMMONNAME is booze cruise. --Ykraps (talk) 08:30, 20 February 2022 (UTC)

• Weak oppose for the proposed generic title sounding more like the concept of people travelling somewhere to drink alcohol, not to buy it. The arguments for the article defining a "British practice" seem circular, though, I don't see any reason why the article can't have sections about Finland and other countries where it also happens, with local names for the practice being included.
