2019 Tampa Bay Rays season

The 2019 Tampa Bay Rays season was the Rays' 22nd season of Major League Baseball, and the 12th as the "Rays" (all at Tropicana Field). The Rays clinched a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2013 and defeated the Oakland Athletics in the Wild Card Game. They then lost in the Division Series to the Houston Astros. This was the Astros' final season with A. J. Hinch as manager and Jeff Luhnow as general manager; both were fired in January 2020 after MLB investigators confirmed that the team had used electronics to steal opponents’ signs during the 2017 season and postseason.
