Asaboo on Dubai International Academic City

Hi, you had deleted my article on Dubai Internation Academic City.

Its not an advertisement for sure as if you read it, I have mentioned my own experiences which includes the good as well as bad points ( the last topic named "the present situation"). Also, about being copied from the link you gave, i have already given a reference link at the bottom and there isnt more than 1 or 2 lines which are directly picked from there.

I have studied there and hence i know about that place. I have read about it too. Hence, I know a lot of details and stuff about it. Moreover, you can find all that written in my own words. Like the last paragraph, it is totally about the present situation of the place.

Sorry, I really don't have time to discuss the issue, so I'll leave the matter as you reverted it... but, my change is an exceedingly obvious and simple one, so you might want to reconsider, or broach the matter at the talk page yourself. Wikipedia looks silly for noting one Phelps record, but not the other, as both are major news stories.

Is there a way to make sure daily medal count table (under Medalists paragraph) stays fully located in this paragraph. We should out the next paragraph (Athletics) down so the table isn't half-located in Medalists, half-located in Athletics. I tried putting some space into [edit:Medalists] but whenever someone edits the full article again, it turns back to previous mode. I hope you know what I want to ask. It just looks a bit extensive.

Je kakšna možnost da bi za stalno premaknili tabelo Daily medal Count na članku Slovenia at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Locirana je pod odstavkom Medalists, vendar na pol gleda v odstavek Athletics. Treba bo nekako premakniti, vendar če naredim kar tako prostor vmes, se ob naslednjem urejanju znova spremeni in je na pol v enem, na pol v drugem odstavku. Ker pa spada bolj ali manj v odstavek Medalists, bi bilo bolje, če bi bila v celoti tam. Tako pa nastane tudi nekaj prostora za nove možne trditve pod Notes. Upam, da se razumeva. Lep pozdrav. Če hočeš imeti dober članek, je treba navajati vire. Konkretno je tukaj na nekaterih mestih pretiravano z oznakami, na drugih so pa ustrezne, jasno, bralec želi referenco zakaj je en program boljši od drugega itd. Hm... ja. Stavki kot are excellent and extremely fast solving programs so brez navedbe vira pristranske, poleg tega je treba dodati vir iz tretje strani, ne domačo stran izdelovalca. No, pri specifikacijah so tudi ti viri dovolj. Seveda lahko malo počistiš, recimo ena referenca na nekaj stavkov, ki so vsi pokriti itd. Če komu ne bo kaj všeč, se bo že oglasil. Reverting my categories

Why have you just reverted my insertion of categories into the templates? Fine you don't like the logo but to revert my edits on categorizing the templates was bang out of order. Azeri names

Hi,

Namig Abdullayev/Namiq Abdullayev is one such example. I spotted another inconsistency: this article [4], for example, uses the original Azerbaijani spelling in its title and has the transliterated version as redirect. 2008 Wah bombing

No sources? Someone had screwed up the bottom of the article with this edit; that's why you didn't see the references section. Still, I don't see how you could have thought there were no sources, since there were multiple footnotes present in the article. Nevermind, looks like you saw that now. And what's with this bureaucracy over discussing clear ITN-worthy candidates? A number of similar terrorist attacks have been added to ITN in recent months. A few examples: [5], [6], [7], [8], [9]. US water polo

I was hoping that somebody would get around to adding a page for our men's national water polo team at some point. I think it was our only significant national team that still wasn't represented on Wikipedia. Olympian articles

I noticed you were creating many articles on athletes who won a medal in Beijing. If you could, please change future articles to say "who won a medal at the Olympics" rather than "who has won a medal at the Olympics." It is not encyclopedic phrasing to use the perfect tense. Also, a comma does not belong before the word who in this usage. For example, Khetag Gazyumov should read "is a Azeri wrestler who won a bronze medal..."

Wait a minute, these articles don't have references! When you create a new article it must WP:CITE a source! A simple link to beijing2008.cn or nbcolympics.com is fine, but there needs to be something. Thanks for your efforts, Reywas92^Talk 20:42, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

I know about the references. I am planning to expand them a little later. Most of the new articles attract other editors that add the references as well. Unreferenced new articles

As you're busy cranking out articles at the rate of 8 a minute(!!!), do try to remember to include references. You must be getting the info from someplace, no? 71.204.176.201 (talk) 16:50, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

DEFAULTSORT

On all these new articles you're adding, it would be very helpful if you would also include a DEFAULTSORT template just before the categories. Something like: {{DEFAULTSORT:Family_name, Personal_name}} [[Category:Living people]

Otherwise, someone (often me) will have to find all those articles and fix them.

Note that many asian names, especially Chinese, have the family name first. For example, the Gold Medal diver Guo Jingjing's family name is "Guo" and she should have a DEFAULTSORT that reads <nowik></nowiki>. An omitted defaultsort is a common error for an asian-style biography article; it's not a huge problem since the bare article name sorts very close to where the correct DEFAULTSORT would put it. A problem only arises when we have a westernized name with the same family name, "Jane Guo" and "John Guo" should to either side of "Guo Jingjing", but without the comma in her sort key, she would sort before Jane.

Also note that for names that contain accented characters, we MUST remove the accents to get correct sorting (it's a long story). For example, the track star Blanka Vlašić has a DEFAULTSORT that reads {{DEFAULTSORT:Vlasic, Blanka}}.

Sadly, there are a lot of other special rules, but the above covers 98% of all personal names your likely to see in Olympic rosters. Studerby (talk) 15:51, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

I think you accidentally deleted Mary Boone. I'm confused, because there was no request or discussion, as is typical when an article may be considered unencyclopedic. Patria affair

Could be, but most of the media refer to it as affair, what is in compliance with common name guideline (at least most of the people would look for it under that name). The guideline you quote recommends to use the word affair only in well established cases - this indeed is not historic case but will probably be in some time. So renaming now and renaming back in a couple of years? Hm... doesn't make much sense for me... Do we have any other alternative names we could use? And what part of the article do you think could contain POV? I won't object the usage of the word affair if the allegiations are proven. However, using this word now seems pov to me. Per Affair: 'Affair' may be used as a euphemism and in some cases to add glamour to an illicit liaison or it may be used to slander. In addition to that, we're talking about the English not Slovenian (and sensationalistic) name. In English, we have 512 hits for "patria affair" and 892 hits for "patria case" using Google. --Eleassar ^{my talk} 16:26, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

But for Olympic pages this infobox {{Olympic Games Cycling}} is for the main page Cycling at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the infobox {{Footer olympic champions road cycling men}} is for the winner (in this case Samuel Sánchez) and for the special result page like Cycling at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's road race. Yes really! :) No sorry, there isn't a more specific box. And I don't think that it is necessary to create a special infobox for every event. But for a long time I have the idea in my mind to give a link to every special event via the year in all these infoboxes. So you can go to every event and to every champ. Like this:

Hi. The article was deleted (twice), because it reads like an advertisement. Remember, WP is an encyclopedia, therefore it is inapropriate to include things like Published rates for tickets is at $8 for a 2 day pass and $5 for a 1 day pass. According to the organisers, children under the age of 6 get in for free. I suggest you start the article from the scratch, if you have any problems, feel free to ask. Speedy deletion of "The Varangian Way"

Apparently I missed the warning that this article was up for deletion, because I definitely would have argued against it. I do recall that there was a lot of material just copied straight from some source, but being an album article, there was plenty of legitimate material in there as well (song list, credits, album art...).

So could you undelete it? If you don't believe wikipedia should be carrying album articles with only basic info, then you've got a lot of work to do. --Gueneverey (talk) 18:04, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe song lists and album credits are copyright infringement. If they are, then every album article in wikipedia must be a copyright infringement. The Spokesman

Hi,

I'm curious to find out why you decided to delete The Spokesman page. It is the journal of the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation and is edited by Ken Coates. The latter are both listed. The journal has been in circulation since the early 1960's when Bertrand Russell first published it. I believe, therefore, The Spokesman should be re-listed as it is a valuable source of information and has several endorsements and fans such as Noam Chomsky and Kurt Vonnegut (who was a great friend to us).

Hi. It seems that the article I deleted was about a different newspaper, this was the first sentence: The Spokesman is the student newspaper of Princeton Day School, in Princeton, New Jersey. Its circulation is 1600 and includes students, employees, parents, and alumni of the school. And the notability of that one was not established. The problem now is that I am one of the few admins active there so when I am not around, good stories sometimes don't make it on Main page soon enough. Bonny Doon Village Airport

Good day and thanks for all of the work you put in to making Wikipedia a better place and your patience in helping educate contributors such as myself who isn't aware of all the changing details required for articles. I logged in today to verify and update some information on the Bonny Doon Village Airport in Bonny Doon, CA and noticed it had been deleted for it's lack of notability, and therefore had been removed from the List of airports of Santa Cruz County, California, and the links removed on the Bonny Doon, CA page as well. Two comments on those items and then we can proceed in whichever direction seems right:

Removal from the list of airports seems incorrect because the last item on the Notability page mentions: "Airport lists: A list of airports for a country or region may contain the names of all airports, notable or not." so it would seem that charted private use airport could be restored to the list of airports.

As for the notability of Bonny Doon Village Airport, I can see from the previously existing article that it might not qualify, and it still might not, but wanted to add some details. The airport was a public use airport from 1930 through 1964 when it transitioned to private use. The airport property is open to public agencies as needed quite often. For example, the property is the primary base of operations for wildfires in that area housing both rotary wing aircraft and crews when actively working fires. Not aviation related, but the site is publically available for astronomy, amateur radio operations, community art and wine festivals, and I believe Boy Scout camps on a regular basis. With the airport being such a center of that small community I had believed it warranted a page providing it's history and current information. DanDawson (talk) 22:08, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

TODALS appears to be a valid term (mnemonic) to describe the items that SHOULD be present on a good map:

Title - (every good project deserves a name!)

Orientation - (usually in relation to N/S/E/W, but even something like "that way to Lake Michigan" gives a clue as to which way to orient the map to the ground).

Date - (geological features may not change very rapidly, but man-made features are changing all the time. Good to know WHEN this map was valid!)

Author - (WHO made the map might help you to determine just how much to believe this short-hand representation of "reality")

Legend - (what does that squiggly line mean?)

Scale - (how near or how far the important features on the map from where YOU are now is an essential element in a useful map)

Alternatively, in terms of the classic five "W"s of good journalism:

Who - author What - legend Where - orientation and scale Why - title When - date

I think the definition that I saw in the deletionpedia file had some other item in the "S" position.... But without a SCALE, I think the map is probably not worth the electrons it was written with...

My daughter had a homework assignment where she was supposed to include all of the TODALS elements on her map.... so even if it isn't a POPULAR term, it's still a TERM and it is still being taught.

Please restore the Anti-cliché page. It deserves to be on wikipedia. I disagree with its deletion. Ironically, you can't even find it in any web-dictionary. Anti-cliche is a neologism that is a literary device which exists in the transgression and subversion of language norms. If we delete this page then we by the same logic must delete trope, slang, neologism, and many many many others. In its state (before it was deleted) it may have been a 'stub', but it certainly deserves inclusion in the wikipedia.Winjammer (talk) 07:47, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Could you please explain more fully your deletion of Thomas Hartmann (USN). I started this article. Whoever tagged it with {{prod}} did not comply with the convention that those tagging articles for deletion advise the contributor who started the article.

I'd like to know what justification this tagger offered.

I have had some wikistalkers. I'd like to know who this tagger is. I'd like to know if it was one of my wikistalkers.

Please correct me if I am wrong. If there is a problem with a {{prod}}, and it really would have been contested, if the tagger had advised the article creator, admins usually just revert the deletion? But the article might then be nominated for deletion, correct?

If I asked you for userification, decided the article was worth going through the hassle of an {{afd}}, then I would be entitled to move it back to article space?

I created this article when I started the article on Thomas Hartmann (USAF). Thomas Hartmann (USN)'s share of that work probably worked out to about two hours.

Well, I am sorry, but restoration to article space is not what I requested. I requested you to userify the article, and give me a chance to review whether I wanted to try to defend the article at an {{afd}}.

As you know the wikipedia has civility policies. Participants are asked to try to reach decisions through civil, reasoned discussion. I see the wikipedia as trying to cultivate a culture of collegiality, civility, tolerance, and the assumption of good will. It is a work in progress, but one can generally rely on that culture of civility on most talk pages.

I find the complete opposite on the wikipedia's deletion fora. It seems to me that the wikipedia's intention to cultivate a culture of collegiality there are failing. It seems to me that a subculture of intolerance has arisen in those fora -- and that breaches of the wikipedia's civility policies are so routine there that they pass without comment, or possibly without the regular participants even noticing.

I find participation in those discussion extremely unpleasant, due to the subculture of intolerance and incivility.

I believe my request was a reasonable one. I believe you should have userified the article, or, if you had some objection to doing so, told me to take it DRV, for userification.

I am assuming you had no malicious intent in mind when you chose to restore the article to article space, and nominate it for {{afd}}, rather than comply with my request. But I believe you erred in your exercise of authority in doing so. And I think I should tell you I am unhappy with your choice.

Please restore Papa Nero (song)

Hi. I noticed that the article Papa Nero (song), which I had created some time ago, was deleted earlier this year. Unfortunately I have been kept away from Wikipedia for several months, and only noticed the fact now.

Please allow me to beg for the article to be restored; or at least, copied to my personal area. It appears that the reason for deletion was "non-notable". However, I would argue that it is in fact more "notable " than many other articles in Wikipedia:

1. It seems that the song was moderately popular in Italy around 1970. I would bet that more than a million people in the world still remember the song and its name.
2. As far as I know, it is the only song in the Venetian language that has got a significant media exposure (at the Sanremo Festival) and significant record sales, outside the Veneto region.
3. As such, it is an important reference in the Venetian language article, on which I have extensively worked in the past; especially about the modern usage of Venetian (which is almost dying out). In fact, I wrote the Papa Nero article mainly as an acessory of Venetian language.
4. For the same reason, the song is of more-than-usual interest to the few and scattered Venetian language speakers, Venetian emigrants and their descendants all over the world.
5. The article contained linguistic and cultural information (such as the Venetian text with English translation) that is hard to find elsewhere, especially by readers who are not Italian or Venetian speakers.

If the article is unsuitable for Wikipedia, I would still like to post it in my private home page here at my University. Unfortunately, it did not occur to me that I should save a copy... Please help. All the best, --Jorge Stolfi (talk) 22:55, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Vantage Master Master data

Hi Tone. Could you tell me a better place to put my data on Vantage Master characters? (page deleted was Vantage Master Masters.) There's now a dead link to it on the Vantage Master page. It really needs a tag showing that it's a secondary level article, the Vantage Master page gives the full context but the Vantage Master Masters entry adds some data that new players can use to decide what Master they would like use as their character.

Deletion of recently emptied category

Hi. Hm... I don't really know how to check if a category has been empty for 4 days because it's not seen in the history and there are no articles in it to check.
