Speedy deletion nomination of History of Hindu Mathematics : A source book

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on History of Hindu Mathematics : A source book, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:24, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia, Solomon7968

Although some prefer welcoming newcomers with cookies, I find fruit to be a healthier alternative.

Hello, Solomon7968, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay.

Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Proposed deletion of Bibhu Bhattacharya

The article Bibhu Bhattacharya has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No WP:References

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- ɑηsuмaη ʈ ᶏ ɭ Ϟ 08:25, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Your invitation to participate in a Wikimedia-approved survey in online behavior.

Hello, my name is Michael Tsikerdekis[1][2], currently involved as a student in full time academic research at Masaryk University. I am writing to you to kindly invite you to participate in an online survey about interface and online collaboration on Wikipedia. The survey has been reviewed and approved by the Wikimedia Foundation Research Committee.

I am contacting you because you were randomly selected from a list of active editors. The survey should take about 7 to 10 minutes to complete, and it is very straightforward.

Wikipedia is an open project by nature. Let’s create new knowledge for everyone! :-)

To take part in the survey please follow the link: tsikerdekis.wuwcorp.com/pr/survey/?user=30006171 (HTTPS).

Best Regards, Michael Tsikerdekis (talk) 08:22, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

PS: The results from the research will become available online for everyone and will be published in an open access journal.

UPDATE: This is the second and final notification for participating in this study. Your help is essential for having concrete results and knowledge that we all can share. I would like to thank you for your time and as always for any questions, comments or ideas do not hesitate to contact me. PS: As a thank you for your efforts and participation in Wikipedia Research you will receive a Research Participation Barnstar after the end of the study. --Michael Tsikerdekis (talk) 07:50, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Bahiroji Pingale, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Moropant Pingale (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:03, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Rename

Hi - you can request a rename by following the instructions at Wikipedia:Changing username. Warofdreams talk 13:32, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

Please read the instructions and follow them. You need to leave a request on one of the linked pages, not contact a bureaucrat directly. If you have any specific difficulties understanding the instructions, let me know. Warofdreams talk 16:43, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

Your speedy deletion nomination

At the article Gireesh chemrakadan, I noticed you put a speedy deletion tag; however, it was under the wrong criterion. The article had no content except a rephrasing of the title so it should have been deleted under A3 rather than A7. Since you put the tag the main contributor has removed it and I've added the correct tag. Just to let you know. AndieM (Am I behaving?) 06:24, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Arellano (Manila North) High School

Hello Solomon7968. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Arellano (Manila North) High School, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not a blatant hoax. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 15:01, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

I had a question about this also. Why did you think this a hoax? If it really is, we want to get rid of it. Please respond on the talk page of the article DGG ( talk ) 15:46, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
  • I think I have made a mistake because it was about a school and the first sentence on the article was about americans occupying phillipines. And you are right it is not a hoax but needs wikifying. Sorry for any trouble. Solomon7968 (talk) 15:55, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
yes, it needs work. Perhaps you can help. Thanks for recognizing the error. DGG ( talk ) 19:42, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Redirects to Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Deoghar

Regardless of the manner in which they were created, these titles are presently redirects. They do not qualify for speedy deletion under criterion R3 because they are not new, and the purpose of G6 (housekeeping) is radically different from deleting redirects that someone sees as implausible: it permits deletion for purposes such as history merges and page moves. Feel free to take these redirects to WP:RFD, where redirects that do not qualify for speedy deletion are discussed and potentially deleted. Nyttend (talk) 23:31, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Asif socks

Hi. Thanks for raising the Frank blatt SPI. I have replaced it with Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Princeneil, (a) because Princeneil is much the oldest account, created last September, (b) to add today's new one, Frank jhon (talk), and (c) because I don't think checkuser is necessary at the moment - these are all DUCKs, and as he creates a new one every day I doubt if there are sleepers. If this nuisance persists, it may be worth asking for CU in case there is an underlying IP that could be blocked, but I don't think we're at that stage yet. Application of Urine therapy

I've declined your speedy - the one you used is only for very short things like 'Jake is a poggy snaffler', which don't give any real indication of who, what or why. This is rather long, and is clearly about taking the piss - literally. I'm thinking about what to tag it with, so if you have another idea, feel free... Peridon (talk) 11:24, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I see you tagged it {{db-spam}}. I have an even better tag - as so often with long screeds, it was a copyvio, and I have zapped it as such. JohnCD (talk) 12:15, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Megan Nicole

I didn't deleted for lack of notability, but because it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, and avoid Buy Online... they liked her and her voice (but dont we all )... She has a very large, loyal fan base... talented singers, beautiful artists, and personalities that can effortlessly grab your attention. It is rare, however, to find all three of these attributes in one person.... much of the rest is in the same spamtalk. It also looks like a cut-and-paste from an unknown and possibly copyrighted source, but didn't check for that because it was all spam anyway. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:52, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

The 4th hunger games book

Sorry to decline your request, but the context was clear enough. The information wasn't, though, being unsupported rumours, so I've prodded it. I've found what I think it stems from - http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/285486-dying-out-4th-book-in-the-hunger-games-series and put this on the talkpage. You're welcome to prod2 the thing if you wish. Peridon (talk) 17:24, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

'Context' is really for the "What the heck is THIS???" type of thing. Like a title of "Figgery" and a content of "Wardle Johnson was a baker.". Peridon (talk) 17:28, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Sambaran Banerjee

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sambaran Banerjee requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you.  IShadowed  ✰  03:50, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of K. Sambasiva Sastri

The article K. Sambasiva Sastri has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. inre Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/100% Love (2012 film)

Just a polite note. The attributes you chose as deletion reasons rarely apply to recent films. Please take a look at WP:OEN. I do agree that sourcing is the issue, and would be a valid deletion rationale (but sourcing and notability seem worth addressing). Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:37, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

I agree that it is a recent film , but the problem with tollywood film industry is they create 150 films per year and 90% of them are commercial films (they do not get an award and people forget them even after a month). There are some internationally acclaimed directors like Rituparno Ghosh and others where individual films matter. Now in case of the director here Rabi Kinagi I belief that a list of his film is better than creating separate articles for every film. Solomon7968 (talk) 07:20, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
Many, many films... whether made in India or elsewhere... do not make the cut. Not stating that 110% Love will or will not, but If any film is found to meet WP:GNG and the basic criteria of WP:NF, then we can have an article. My visit here was simply to inform that the WP:NF#Other evidence of notability is a section set more for older films as attributes we may consider only when the GNG is failed. If this one ends up not meriting a separate article under guideline, then inclusion in a list of his films is sensible. Thank you for the suggestion. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 09:09, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
Wikipedia is very much lacking in coverage of pre internet age quality films. The problem is that all of these Rabi Kinagi films are itself frame to frame copied from older classic films. I will request you to once read the wiki article on Rabi Kinagi. I surely belief the 100% Love (2012 film) article is not going to see any edit in future. Since Wikipedia is not Newspaper there is no need of these kind of articles. Solomon7968 (talk) 09:19, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
I agree that pre-internet films have poor coverage within these electronic pages. Their age often makes online coverage difficult to find. Hardcopy sources are fine if found and offered... and I have created or improved a number of such articles myself... on some very old films. But it is hubris to opine that any article might "never" be edited, as they may well be when additional sources are found. And, as Wikipedia does not have the limitations and constraints of its hard copy cousins, we can have coverage of ANY topic, older films included, that meets inclusion criteria. See WP:NOTPAPER. EMC: Swedish Gold "Sockadockan"

Hej!

I am Swedish Gold.

The EMC Deletion Discussion was closed last night in favor of retention. Hurrah for common sense!

At the instigation of Lukeno1994, my "price" is now to be investigated as a "sockpuppet" I have made a comment on the Sockadockan discussion you should read.

I was not informed and only found out by accident as I have been asked to analyse matters before a formal complaint is sent to Wikipedia Trustees. Ive seen some pretty bizarre actions by Luke. One was just after I started probing the probity of "Epic Crusader", last night where he wrote a message to the administrators begging for the deletion discussion to close (but he did not post that at the foot of the thread). Second, he summarily banned a Swedish user from Umeå last Saturday morning because the user let Lukeno1994 know that was upset to find out that the original author "Jono2013" had (apparently) collapsed last week due to stress brought on by the successive deletion debates etc.

Luke seems to have special powers to block users without any response, but he claims to be 18.

You were right to defend EMC. Please email me if you wish.
