List of castles in France: I have looked at the users' suggestions and comments and have made a new draft that I think could be the way forward. It uses the basic format drafted by User:M-le-mot-dit and the sort of layour used in the French Wiki.

My proposal, with notes and explanation is at User:Emeraude/Castles2.

For information, other versions are:

Golubac fortress/General policy

Well, since you've targetted yourself for questions, here goes!

First off, there seem to be rather a lot of numbers for such a little bit of text based on the referencing I did for the article. Did I go overboard, and should just stick to numbers at the end of sentences, rather than also in the middle?

Also, I had a couple questions that I stuck on the talk page (except I imagine it's not a very high-traffic article, so who knows when it'll be seen). When sources disagree on dates, how is that usually dealt with?

In the process of finding sources and trying to figure out where the legend part should be, I also noticed that the majority of Golubac is taken word-for-word from the bottom of this page. What's done about things like that? Stick the site as a reference and note that it needs rewriting, or should it be deleted for copyright infringement, or? While deleting seems like the most likely, doing that would also turn the page into something completely useless.

Thousand-Article Anglicisation

Hello STTW. I would like to ask you for your input in this - literally thousands of articles have been sloppily "Anglicised" already (changing "région" for "region", for example, without modifying the phrase around it in the least to provide the proper context/meaning of the term) without any prior discussion at all, and one is continuing this rampage in spite of an ongoing discussion and WP:RFC about it. WPBiography project tagging (copied from here)

My bot currently has approval for tagging WikiProject France and WikiProject Germany only. Any change has to be approved at Wikipedia:Bot requests first. Could you reprogramme your Wikiproject:France bot so it doesn't automatically add its project template to the top of the talk page above all other project templates? It's annoying for those of us in other projects who have created or worked hard on articles without any input from Project:France members to see those pages suddenly claimed for your project. Tagging of Talk:Swiss French

Hi, your bot tagged Talk:Swiss French as being within the scope of Wikiprojet France; of course, no one will mind if the participants come and improve the page, but I thought you may want to doublecheck if this page should really be tagged as such. Swiss French refer to the particularities of the French language as it is spoken in Switzerland; there is a clear connection with French, the language, but not so clear with France itself. Tagging of Canadian articles

Hello. Your bot has been tagging articles related to Canada (mostly to Quebec) with the Wikiproject France tag. WikiProject France tags

I have undone a number of the WikiProject France tabs added to talk pages by STTWbot (talk). They seem to have been added indiscriminantly to pages that have nothing to do with France: for example, Canadian, Belgian, Swiss, Moroccan newspapers, pages on Canadian literature, Canadian schools, as well as pages dealing with the French language, but outside France. please note that it seems that you were tagging pages with such categories as French language, French-language literature, French-language newspapers, French language schools and French-English translators, all categories which may or may not be connected with France. I agree. I've removed the tag from L’amour de loin for example - in spite of the title, this is a work by a Finnish composer. Could you please fix the problems with the bot before you let it proceed any further. It isn't very discriminating and it still isn't respecting the order of templates already on the talk pages. Hi. In response to what feels like "inaccurate project france tagging" onto French-Belgian Project Comics articles, we did revert the first round of STTWbot actions (exclusively Belgian-related articles, shallow French connections) leaving be where there was a case for Project France interest, but now the bot has gone back and re-covered all its incorrect tracks. No, actually is was in relation to the History of France page, among others... I set the importance there to "top", but it remains categorized as "importance unassessed". Germany tagging

Thank you for your work with the stub categories! If you have good suggestions how we can organize the rest of the tagging work, I'd love to hear them (as I don't trust the category system, I'm tagging in a semi-automated way with my AWB account Kusma using AWB when I get around to it, but don't think we should tag several subcategories deep - this has resulted in lots of annyoances and trouble with other project tags). I'm trying to do the tagging slowly and partly by hand, as that means I manage to get an "importance" parameter in when I have heard of the article's subject every now and then. Perhaps we should generate a category list and then have people tackle some parts of it? If you can create a category list, we could work from that. Images and infoboxes

Hi! I'm slightly confused about what I've done wrong with wiki markup for one or the other of those. I added the city infobox to Kutná Hora yesterday, but the picture that was supposed to be at the start of the "Architecture" section, on the left, won't show until the very bottom of the infobox. I'm too impatient to wait for someone to come along and notice/fix it, so... Why's it doing that? Both of those took place long before Wikipedia began to encourage substitution for templates. The way it was explained to me, server load can become an issue if templates are always called rather than substituted. NEMA connector

You changed [[USA]] to [[United States|USA]]. Note that you don't really need to do that; see Wikipedia:Redirect#Don't fix links to redirects that aren't broken, where it says:

In particular, there should never be a need to replace [[redirect]] with [[target|redirect]]. That is, there should be no need to replace a redirect with a piped link to the target if the description is exactly the same as the redirect title.

Some editors have the mistaken impression that fixing redirected links improves the capacity of the Wikipedia servers. Because editing a page uses much more resources than following a redirect, the opposite is true. It is inadvisable to worry about performance anyway.

Personally, I'd think that if following redirects was expensive, the MediaWiki developers would optimize it so that it wasn't expensive any more. I don't think there's any real reason why it needs to be expensive.

Project news Criteria for B-Class status: The assessment criteria for B-Class have been changed. {{WikiProject Germany}} template now has 5 switches, B-Class-1 through B-Class-5 that correspond to 5 easily checked criteria that an article should meet to be assessed as B-Class. The advantage of this system is that now there is a clear boundary between Start-Class and B-Class articles. Authors of articles that were assessed as Start-Class now get more direct feedback what they should improve to attain a B-Class rating. All of our B-Class, Start-Class and Stub-Class articles now need to be checked whether they meet any of the B-Class criteria. This is a major effort, and we need your help! If you want to help, but don't know how, please post at the project talkpage. Cities and municipalities task force A task force dedicated to creating and improving articles on all German cities and municipalities has been started and is looking for help.

I have linked some of the redink terms to appropriate Wikipedia articles, I have unlinked titles to books that in all likelihood will never have articles. Some of the names remaining as redink probably ought to have at least short articles. I have placed a "needs footnotes" box on top of the article. WikiProject Newsletter n°1

Bonjour and welcome to the first WikiProject France newsletter!! It should become a monthly special of our project, but until the next issue, here are some points to consider for the month:

• In an effort to determine the active members from the inactive, all members are asked to simply sign on my special userpage.
• I have slightly rearranged and updated the Project page, putting all the featured lists in collapsible tables. This unclutteres the page and you only have to see them if you want to. Give your feelings at the talk page.
• I have made a Wikipedia advert for our project, Image:Qxz-ad108.gif, what do you think? Personally I feel the words need improving ...
• There are still map problems at Template:French commune - any help at resolving them would be greatly appreciated.
• What about starting a monthly drive? We currently have no Featured Portals (except for the Basque Portal which really isn't French any way), so how about improving Portal:France??? I don't know what's exactly wrong but the criteria can be seen at Wikipedia:Featured portal criteria.

Hi. Sorry, perhaps my tagging was a little hasty, however, I still tend to agree with my initial assessment. The article as it stands, is extremely short, providing little context. It is totally unreferenced, with no reliable third-party sources to establish any notability. While I daresay being part of the organisation you mention (I don't really understand economics!) does make it likely that it is notable, firstly, notability is not inherited from membership, and secondly, the article does not cite any sources asserting such notability.

Remarkable Gardens of France

STTW, Thank you for your note. I enjoyed going thru the article on the Remarkable Gardens of France. I agree that when it gets too long, an article tends to be difficult to read, one reason being that other editors may decide to add to one section & the whole article becomes out of balance. The idea of making it on the model of the List of castles in France is excellent, and that could be the start of a collection using the same type of map, for food, climate, (wild) plants & animals etc. (which may already exist). Bot for WikiProject Egypt

Could u please make a bot for adding the {{WikiProject Egypt}} templates to the talk pages of Egypt related articles that are in Category:Egypt and it's subcategories. I have done more than a hundred yesterday which took me a lot of time and it would require a lot more if I continue to do them manually. Please consider doing them like your bot for WikiProject France and WikiProject Germany. It would save me a lot of time and would make WikiProject Egypt a lot better. Currently I'm instead of improving Articles I'm adding templates, which is time consuming and unrelated to the encycolopedic entries. Please help. Just a template saying that the article is there but unnaccessed or like the bot for WikiProject France it cheks for other quality and importance scales. your help is greatly appreciated and will be noted on the WikiProject Egypt main Page.

WP GER tagging

BLP

At the moment there is a drive to delete unreferenced BLP. A lot of the older articles can be sourced quite trivially, but then again a non-German speaker might have problems understanding the German google results. So I'd rather we as a project give the list a once-over rather a combination of robot like taggers and deleters. Agathoclea (talk) 21:12, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
