Real Zaragoza v Zaragoza

If you're really in such opposition to the de facto use of "Zaragoza" over "Real Zaragoza", you really need to take it up with WP:FOOTY. As a matter of fact why have you not attempted to change the La Liga, Segunda División, and European football articles if you feel so obnoxiously strong about this point? User:Canon 108 Italy-Germany results again

Hi PeeJay. I wanted to come to you first as you were one of the users to have given some input on the project page about the result of this match with respect to how UEFA classification and Germany's first competitive win over Italy. As you saw, User:Canon 108 believed that it shouldn't be noted as a defeat and rather used the word "eliminated" which could cause confusion as you pointed out. After several other users gave their inputs who also thought that it should be noted as a defeat, with no one attesting to Canon's argument. Canon has still persisted in adding his version back to the Italian and German national team pages against consensus. I've tried to communicate this to him on his talk page, but refuses to listen to consensus. He may also be over 3RR and is also removing the proper ndash convention dashes for some reason. I was wondering what sort of action I could take? Canon insists I talk to an admin and they will tell me the "same thing he is telling me". Maybe I can ask GiantSnowman or Number 57 or someone? UEFA Euro 2016#Match balls

PeeJay2K3 - my absolute apology!!! Should have done a talk, here with you, before doing the reversion a minute ago - per proper etiquette amongst regular editors.

As stated in the note for my reversion, the use of two balls was pulled directly from UEFA's own website, as per the citation, in which they themselves, the "owners" of the tournament, opened with the secondary headline "For the first time in the competition's history, there will be a second official match ball after adidas launched a new design for the UEFA EURO 2016 knockout rounds."

If this is incorrect, then UEFA itself should not be saying it.

Perhaps you are referring to EURO Qualifying using one ball, and the EURO Finals (Group/Knockout combined) using a different ball? I was wondering about that too, and played with being more wordy in clarifying that aspect of the balls. In the end, I took it as UEFA EURO Qualifying Tournament, in 2014/2015, not being considered part of the UEFA EURO Finals Tournament in 2016, and thus I would not need to over-state that distinction. Further to your comments (thank you), I'd have to agree that UEFA is probably referring to the fact that 2016 is the first time that they changed the entire model of ball (Beau Jeu vs Fracas), as compared to the white-paneled vs silver-panelled colour change of the Europass/Europass Gloria in 2008, and again with the singularly named Tango 12 in 2012. Both were a nice touch for the final-final game (and a chance to sell more balls, like comic books and magazines with two variations of their cover?!), but did not signify a change in the ball technology itself.

I am confused by the very-similar-colour too. An article at Soccer.com does state that the Fracas is the same basic ball, but that the Vice President of Design at adidas Football noted that the Fracas "features an innovative panel shape". I did read another article that specifically suggests that the change in ball was due to the burst Beau Jeu during the France-Switzerland group game. With all this oddness, I fall back on UEFA's statement that it is the first ever occurrence of a "second/new" ball. Jmg38 (talk) 00:19, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Since you dont like being templated I will give you this personal message instead. I have filed a report at WP:ANI regarding your behaviour. Honestly, I took my time before deciding to do it and reconsidered multiple times because I know that you are a good contributor and has done a lot of work for wikipedia. But I cant not ignore they way you speak, using bad language against other editors. For example, instead of just reverting a link to an existing article you could have left it until article was deleted, and also notified the editor about notability guidelines. Please try and be nice, even though I know it can be frustrating some times. I dont think anyone wants to see you blocked, but with a declining number of editors we can not attack new editors who are willing to improve and create new articles. They only need guidance. Somerset and Alex Ferguson

Back in December 2008 you made an edit to the Alex Ferguson article where you said that he had played in a friendly match for Manchester United early in his managerial reign against Somerset County Cricket Club as part of a tour of the Bermuda national team of England. This didn't really make sense to me because Somerset CCC are a first class cricket club rather than a football team and why would a professional English football team play a professional English cricket team as part of Bermudian tour of England?

After a quick Google I saw what actually happened was United 'toured' Bermuda, playing two matches, one against the Bermuda 'national' team and one against a local club known as Somerset CC or Somerset Trojans.

I'm not sure how this information has remained in the article all these years but since the article is now protected perhaps you could find a way to have it fixed?

Stadium Names

Hi PeeJay... The names "Stadion Narodowy" and "Stadion Miejski" are the official names of the stadia in Poland... "National Stadium" and "Municipal Stadium" are only the English translations... UEFA also uses the official Polish names so is it correct to change the proper official name of a stadium to its translation? We use official names like "Stadion Feijenoord" and "Stade de France" etc then why not "Stadion Miejski"? The official name given to a stadium can't be changed into a translation just like it's applicable for human names... Please have a look at this point... The Stadium at Lisbon

Hi PeeJay... The full name of the stadium is "Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica"... Have look at the 2014 match cover programme released by UEFA and there also the full official name has been mentioned so why not use the official name instead of a nickname? Not overcomplicating... But this is indeed a touch awkward... We are ignoring the official name and using a nickname which is quite strange... If UEFA had published that full name (as you can see clearly in the cover of the final), we should be using that full name at least for the 2014 CL final article... The official cover released by UEFA as well as the Scorecard has the full official name so we should be piping the nickname with the full name at least for this one page of UEFA CL final 2014 as the official source mentions the full name!!! Ok that's good... I'll be listing them down in a post to your talkpage in case I feel any more names need changing... I didn't change this name after the 1st time so don't worry... By the way, my point actually was not to change the article's name itself but rather add the full name in places where the source mentions the full name!!! For eg if we write "Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica" in CL 2014 page by piping then if a viewer clicks on it he will straightaway go to the page "Estádio da Luz"... This was actually my suggestion... In this say we can comply with the official source of a particular tournament and the common name of the page remains as it is... Actually for any international tournament, the official names of the stadia are used in majority of sites!!! Like we never use our nicknames in official purposes and rather use our full names!!! That's why I thought piping would be a good idea as we can use both names!!! This was the logic I actually had in my mind that this might be more informative for viewers!! Also considering that the page is regarding UEFA Champions League , I actually felt that the name used by UEFA should be used in the CL article maybe... The article name of the venue shouldn't be changed based on UEFA's naming but for an UEFA match, I thought only the UEFA official names matter for stadia!!! Hi.. I understood what you said in your last message on the talkpage... I have only one query though.. Have a look here in 2006 FIFA World Cup Group C where the stadium name "Allianz Arena" is piped to the official name for the event which is "FIFA WM Stadion München"... Now my query is that if we use the name used by FIFA for a FIFA tournament in that tournament's Wiki pages instead of the commonly known names, then why should not the names used by UEFA for an event be implemented in that event's Wiki page? For the WC 2006 the stadium name "Allianz Arena" wasn't used and for the 2014 CL final the name "Estádio da Luz" wasn't used... Wikipedia editors have clearly used official stadium names released by FIFA in all WC pages so I think the same should be done for major UEFA tournaments as well... As you said earlier, we should maintain a level consistency, then why aren't we consistent among all major competition's pages??? Should be same for all international tournaments... Please have a look at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and see the official names used there instead of nicknames... Let me know your thoughts on this... Thank you!!! Hey man, how are you? Yep, those guys are ahead of the AM, but they're not forwards as the Madrid's lineup for example. They're clearly behind the CF and should qualify as wingers. He was also not in the squad of the game but he also got the medal, got the honour. Every player of the Real Madrid got this honour, do you know? I think I already write down all what I should say. What do you mean "youth players"? If they are the players of B team or juvenil, of course they don't get the honours, because they are never a part of the first team. What I am talking about is just the first team players. You can't even figure out this point? Is this very difficult to understand? And I repeat this again: Players still can get honours even if they don't play or get into the squad of a game. This is a clear fact, it's not up to you. If a player doesn't get a honour, what do the club give him a medal for? Giving a player a medal means the club recognize the player has the honour. Understand? This can not be simpler and clearer.
