Ways to improve Mahta Moghaddam edit

Hello, Microglia145,

Thank you for creating Mahta Moghaddam.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The page currently has a list of many awards, some which are seemingly not notable enough for inclusion. In addition, many of these awards are not sourced. After you have addressed the issue, feel free to remove the tags

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|MrClog}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Cleanup tags edit

Hi, please try to avoid removing cleanup template tags when the issue referred to in the tag has not yet been dealt with. For example in https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ream_Al-Hasani&type=revision&diff=950066531&oldid=950062672&diffmode=source

Thank you for all your work on Wikipedia. :) Kj cheetham (talk) 09:45, 10 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hey! I am sorry, I just learned how to fix the duplicate refs things, so I will actually go change that. I thought it was a cleanup tag saying that I shouldn't cite the same thing twice but that is kind of impossible for some of these pages, but I will go back and make sure that the references just refer to the original reference when I first cited it. Thank you!!

No worries! Yeah you pretty much need to cite the same thing in multiple places for some of the bios. Keep up the good work! Kj cheetham (talk) 12:43, 11 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ream Al-Hasani moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Ream Al-Hasani, is over-promotional. It needs to be organized to discuss first the facts of her career, and then her work, without mixing the two together. It needs to concentrate of the major work, and not make claims for significance that cannot be sourced to reliable third paty sources. Normally, thisis doen adequatelly by listing hte 5 or so mostcited papers--the titles usually indicate the work that was done. All medical claims ,or claims for future medical significance, must meet WP:MEDRS. I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's guidelines and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Article formatting edit

Hi there. Thank you again for all your hard work creating new articles! Two short suggestions though:

  • Please try not to use academic titles such as "Dr" by default, see MOS:DOCTOR.
  • The "References" headings should be level 2 (i.e. primary), which is the same level as the other top level sections, as per MOS:FOOTERS.

Hope that's helpful.

Super helpful!! Thank you so so much! Please let me know if there is anything else :)
No worries! You might like to know that using a colon in the source lets you indent replies on talk pages (which I took the liberty of doing myself in this section!), and ~ ~ ~ ~ (without spaces) can be used to automatically sign your name on your talk pages at the end of messages. Speedy deletion nomination of Carolyn Rodriguez edit

Hello Microglia145,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Carolyn Rodriguez for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:36, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

I would like to contest this deletion and I am requesting more time to write the page. I will make any adjustments that you feel are necessary. Microglia145 (talk) 15:25, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
I did not actually delete this, but I did nominate it to be deleted. User:TomStar81 was the person who deleted it. I claimed that it was mostly a copy of https://med.stanford.edu/profiles/carolyn-rodriguez including a complete copy of awards, and Boards, Advisory Committees, Professional Organizations, and more. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:36, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
In terms of her awards, I did cite them all I believe from the actual source. I can remove the advisory boards (though she is on them all) in the next edition of this page. How do you suggest listing things like this that are facts and already in chronological order? Should I write them in sentence form? and Would you mind helping me get the page back :D Microglia145 (talk) 23:14, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Re:Carolyn Rodriguez edit

I've restored the material you added and move it to User:Microglia145/Carolyn Rodriguez. I would recommend submitting through Articles for Creation (WP:AFC) to avoid a repeat CSD deletion. TomStar81 (Talk) 06:36, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much, how else do you suggest avoiding the same issue I faced? When the person has awards and editorial positions, how do you suggest citing them or listing them so it is not flagged? They were in the same order as the webiste as this is chronological order. Thank you! Microglia145 (talk) 07:36, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your articles edit

Welcome and thank you for your work on wikipedia. There are a few things you can do that will help make your article fit with the style, tone, and guidelines requested. Please read some of the manual of style guidelines and ensure your edits are complying with them. Some examples are the use of sentence case rather than Capitalisation in headings; and not including multiple links to the same articles. Other things include lists of awards and publications being in chronological order. More importantly, your articles tend to be overly wordy and include language that is not strictly neutral and encyclopaedic. Try to stick to facts rather than opinion (e.g. avoid words like "prominent" and "very" or talking about what someone "makes sure" to do). Finally, the infobox templates give guidance as to what should be included in various parameters, so for example Alma Mater is just for the names of institutions, not other details, and awards should be for particularly notable awards, not a wall of text with everything that is in the article later in it. Thank you Melcous (talk) 13:09, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

This is very helpful. Thank you so much and I will make some changes to previous ones and address these issues in future articles as well. Thank you again!! Microglia145 (talk) 02:11, 7 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi again, regarding how to capitalise section headings, the manual of style recommends "sentance case", as per MOS:HEADINGS and MOS:SECTIONCAPS. Kj cheetham (talk) 09:43, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, yep I have been trying to do this in my recent pages but I have not yet gone back to adjust headings in the older ones. I can do that though. Thank you again for these comments, I really appreciate them and I do my best to incorporate them. Microglia145 (talk) 17:34, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Style tip edit

Hi there, Thank you for keeping up the good work creating article. :) Just a small suggestion - watch out for words like "innovative" and "pioneering" when describing people, as they can be seen as promoting rather than just presenting facts. Chopping edit

Please note that I chopped out a good quarter of the content of your submission about Dr. James.

Facts only, only facts. Nothing that pertains to things inside Dr. James' head, so nothing about how dedicated she is or what her goals are. Focus on her, not on the organizations she co-founded or what they do. DS (talk) 00:41, 9 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

okok sorry about that, I wanted to make sure the mission of the organization was emphasized as I watched her give a talk and understood deeper what she was trying to achieve. I will make sure to keep it about her and not the organization though. Thank you!!

December 2020 edit

Hi Microglia145! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Adji Bousso Dieng that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Kj cheetham (talk) 12:00, 29 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Kj cheetham! Thank you so much for this note. To be honest, I was not at all following this specific definition, but now that I know I totally will. Thank you for letting me know!

Re-creation of page for Dr. Fatima Cody Stanford that was deleted by Cayabi edit

@microglia145

I see that you specialize in creating pages for minority and women scientists. I had previously created a page for Dr. Fatima Cody Stanford which was live from December 2018- October 2020. It was taken down by cayabi who stated that it was a copyright violation. This was unfortunate because the material that I developed for this page was later used by other sites and not vice versa.

So, now we have a great physician scientist without a page. Would you consider creating this on her behalf as you have more experience than I.

Here is a link to the content that was included in the initial page: https://wikivisually.com/wiki/Fatima_Cody_Stanford Here is some other information: https://everipedia.org/wiki/lang_en/fatima-cody-stanford

A link to her full CV and site is here: https://scholar.harvard.edu/fatimacodystanford/home CV: https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/fatimacodystanford/files/fcs_cv_1.21_revised_0.pdf

Images for your articles edit

I couldn't help but notice that you created an article about a female scientist nearly every day for much of 2020. (You stopped in 2021; but it's a hard job, understandably.) Anyway, you might want to know I am trying to help by illustrating those of them that I can. Your work is appreciated! --GRuban (talk) 15:06, 4 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

One minor thing - I notice you've been creating most of these articles with the subjects' middle initials. That's only needed rarely, either to disambiguate between two or more subjects that otherwise have the same name, or in the very rare cases when they are best known with those initials (George W. Bush; Ulysses S. Grant). In general, most people are known without the middle initial (Carla Rothlin, Lindsay De Biase...) We can always have both forms with one as a Wikipedia:Redirect to the other, but we should have the short form where possible. --GRuban (talk) 15:44, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Susan Mackinnon edit

Hello Microglia145 -- Thanks for contributing the above article; can't believe we didn't have one already! I'd suggest pruning the personal material drastically to focus on her surgical achievements. However, I think you will also need medical project-compliant sources for all medical claims, even in a biographical article; refer to Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources (medicine) for details. Are there any academic journal articles celebrating her achievements? Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 01:15, 29 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

These are great suggestions! Thank you so much! I will add some more surgical achievements for sure. I am not sure about academic journal articles celebrating her achievements, but I will look into this as I am sure it exists, though sometimes it doesn't for women sadly :( Microglia145 (talk) 01:51, 29 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Do you have access to the WP:Wikipedia Library? That often has lots of useful content, though it can be a bit hard to find it, and sadly most of the major medical publishers aren't included. Best of luck! Espresso Addict (talk) 02:04, 29 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Arghavan Salles edit

The article Arghavan Salles has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Self promotional vanity article about unremarkable physician

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 28 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
