John Carter (movie) edit

Hello. You reverted an edit I made to this article on this movie's financial impact on Disney. The revert was on grounds that the information was "redundant and outdated". The source I used was the Financial Times of yesterday (!) and their assessment of Disney's second quarter results. I am not sure how this qualifies as outdated! The FT is arguably, with the Wall Street Journal, one of the two leading English financial dailies, and their assessment of the film's overall financial impact thus comes from a reputable source. The statement that you reverted back to reported that the film had done well in Russia -- but it is hard to imagine that this particular market is going to make much of a dent in the overall financial picture.

I realize that the film has its fans, but when it comes to its finances, the article should reflect reliable third party reporting. Nandt1 (talk) 17:29, 10 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Disney 200 million write down info is old. And it's already been mentioned in the article. All the other sources published later had determined that the loss would be significantly less than 200 million. Krystaleen (talk) 03:26, 11 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Whatever the ultimate picture turns out to be, Disney has indeed taken the $200 million write down in its books. I would suggest that, at this stage, the financial impact of the film is, for many observers, its single most noteworthy aspect. As such, it seems to me to belong in the lede. I am making a short entry to this effect. And although I rather strongly feel, as explained earlier, that the Russian market has little relevance to anything, I am showing respect to other views by leaving that reference in the lede. I am hoping others will reciprocate in kind. Nandt1 (talk) 20:12, 12 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
P.S. I see another user at the John Carter discussion page takes objection to the use of the FT as a source on this. I've therefore substituted a direct quote from the statement issued by Disney itself as the source. Since this seems a little opaque on the exact size of the write down, I've taken the $200 million figure out of my text (including the lede). Nandt1 (talk) 20:53, 12 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
The Russian market is not the only market the film succeeded in. It was a pretty big hit worldwide, but in Russia it broke the record or something like that. It was big worldwide, in fact the only country it was a flop in was US. Krystaleen (talk) 08:02, 13 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please keep the new image. edit

On the Taylor Kitsch page, there were two images on there the older one you were referring to was this one that was originally there was this file: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:TaylorKitschFeb12.jpg an image that I uploaded months ago. Then someone uploaded a file was this file: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Taylor_Kitsch,_2012.jpg - which didn't have correct permissions or source. Today I uploaded a picture from this month from the Savages Premiere from Monday June 25 2012 and the image I uploaded was latest and correct permissions & source on the file. So please can you carefully follow edits next time. Please keep the latest image file from the Savages premiere dated June 25, 2012. Link to latest image: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:TaylorKitschJun2012.jpg Many Thanks & Kindest Regards. ~ Randomgurlx (talk) - 5:43 PM GMT - 29 June 2012 —Preceding undated comment added 16:43, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

actually all the images have correct permission, flickr is alright. Between the two old images, the more recent one, this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Taylor_Kitsch,_2012.jpg is preferred because not only it is more recent, it is clearer too. However the newest one is even better.--Krystaleen 16:59, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Edits edit

On Robert Downey Jr's article page I would agree to go to the talk page over bold/big changes but not for minor edits when I am simply going by manuels of style and wiki guidelines. In those cases, they don't require the use of a talk page because they don't require consensus when the edits I corrected were straight up incorrect and I merely fixed them. So try not to revert an edit as minor as that especially when an editor gives you their reasons and you dont give yours. Much appreciated :) Lady Lotus (talk)

I stand corrected for the filmography, but the the single quote ' you removed is obviously not right, it needs a closing ' at the end of the sentence:

I didnt realize until now that it was part of the inner quote said by gibson. my bad, i thought it was a typo and just randomly there. fair enough :) Lady Lotus (talk)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Nick Carter (musician), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kevin Richardson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Regards edit

user Krystaleen I am amazed by your firm edits at Backstreet Boys. Apparently an editor behind an EP recommended to me to edit Backstreet Boys. You do fine job here. Usually I am very firm and decided about my work here so I really loved the outcome. You make great work!

All the best: The Mad Hatter (talk)
Thank you for the kind words! I loved your edit too, you removed some things that I myself had considered removing.--Krystaleen 19:15, 30 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Remember our consensus at List of best-selling music artists for Trimming? edit

An editor Subtropical-man has re-created List of best-selling music artists (50 million to 69 million records) despite our consensus. I have nominated it for AfD. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of best-selling music artists (50 million to 69 million records).--Harout72 (talk) 00:30, 5 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

There was no clear consensus to remove content from Wikipedia (Trimming), but only to reduce the size of the main article. Not counting the author's opinion, user Gabe19 - did not specify how, Jax 0677 support splitting, You and Bluesatellite ‎ support trimming. This is not clear consensus. Also, big changes by Harout72 have been made after two days of discussion and between only four users. Too fast. Please give more time for discussion rather than 2 days and quickly change. Should be more opinions from more users. Ok? Thank you. Subtropical-man (talk) 00:39, 5 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:The Moffatts 2012.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:The Moffatts 2012.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 12:32, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

You're making my head hurts. I don't know why you think it fails the non free usage criteria but if you think so then by all means just delete it right away. There's no need to wait a few days. I can't find any replacement on flickr or anything that is free. Thank you.--Krystaleen 13:37, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:The Moffatts 2012.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:The Moffatts 2012.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:44, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
