The article Steven Leifman has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non-notable judge of a state circuit court. See WP:JUDGE.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Edge3 (talk) 01:44, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021
Hello IntoThinAir,
Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.
Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.
At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.
There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.
Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

WP:AFC Helper News
Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.
- AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
- The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.
Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Rejuvenate WikiProject Skepticism
Hello - my name is Susan Gerbic (Sgerbic) and I'm writing to you because at some point you joined Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism. This might have been months ago - or even years ago. With the best of intentions the project was created years ago, and sadly like many WikiProjects has started to go dormant. A group of us are attempting to revitalize the Skepticism project, already we have begun to clean up the main page and I've just redone the participant page. No one is in charge of this project, it is member directed, which might have been the reason it almost went dormant. We are attempting to bring back conversations on the talk page and have two subprojects as well, in the hopes that it might spark involvement and a way of getting to know each other better. One was created several years ago but is very well organized and a lot of progress was made, Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Skeptical organisations in Europe. The other I created a couple weeks ago, it is very simple and has a silly name Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Skepticism Stub Sub-Project Project (SSSPP). This sub-project runs from March 1 to June 1, 2022. We are attempting to rewrite skepticism stubs and add them to this list. As you can see we have already made progress.
The reason I'm writing to you now is because we would love to have you come back to the project and become involved, either by working on one of the sub-projects, proposing your own (and managing it), or just hanging out on the talk page getting to know the other editors and maybe donate some of your wisdom to some of the conversations. As I said, no one is in charge, so if you have something in mind you would like to see done, please suggest it on the talk page and hopefully others will agree. Please add the project to your watchlist, update your personal user page showing you are a proud member of WikiProject Skepticism. And DIVE in, this is what the work list looks like [1] frightening at first glance, but we have already started chipping away at it.
The Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Participants page has gone though a giant change - you may want to update your information. And of course if this project no longer interests you, please remove your name from the participant list, we would hate to see you go, but completely understand.
Thank you for your time, I hope to edit with you in the future.Sgerbic (talk) 07:10, 17 March 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter May 2022
Hello IntoThinAir,
At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.
Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.
In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 804 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 852 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.
This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.
If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022
Hello IntoThinAir,
- Backlog status
At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.
Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]
In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).
While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).
- Backlog drive
A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. Barnstars will be awarded.
- TIP – New school articles
Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.
- Misc
There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}
, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:
Very high unreviewed pages backlog: 12749 articles, as of 06:00, 17 November 2024 (UTC), according to DatBot
There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.
- Reminders
- Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
- If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing
{{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page. - If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. New Page Patrol newsletter August 2022
Hello IntoThinAir,
- Backlog status
After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.
Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.
- Coordination
- MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.
- Open letter to the WMF
- The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.
- TIP - Reviewing by subject
- Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.
- New reviewers
- The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.
- Reminders
- Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
- If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing
{{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page. - If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. I'd like to understanding why page edits keep being reverted.
Hello,
I've tried to edit this page a few times: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Atrius&redirect=no and keep getting my changes reverted to an essentially blank page that suggests a redirect to Quintus Atrius. I'm not sure why Atrius Health https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atrius_Health is allowed to have a page, and our parent company Acuity Brands https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acuity_Brands (which I linked to in my recent set of edits) is allowed to have a page, but my changes are constantly being reverted. Why is this the case? What is the difference between the pages for Atrius Health, Acuity Brands, and what I'm trying to do with Atrius? We have a hard time distinguishing ourselves from the company Atrius Health, and this explanation, including our history of acquisitions would be very helpful. We are part of a Fortune 1000, publicly traded company, and we have dozens of press releases across the web that will be provided as reference.
Thanks. Atriusisg (talk) 01:32, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

I see that you created Addiction Rare in Patients Treated with Narcotics, and got it featured at WP:DYK. I don't know whether you still watch the article, but I was thinking of trying to get it to WP:FA and maybe even WP:TFA for January 10 if it can get there in time. I realize that it might not be accepted as FA even if it were as good as possible, since it would probably still be rather short. But at the same time, the brevity might make it possible to get the work done in just a few days. You surely have much more experience than I do in this community, so your participation could be an asset here. DefThree (talk) 02:08, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

- Hi. On the talk page of the article in question I started a discussion about how to complete the article. I think a lot of work needs to be done. Given Nagelkerke's age and academic field, I would say that his citation counts are pretty normal (neither surprisingly large nor embarassingly small). As "the" biostatistician in medical school one supplies the statistical analysis for numerous research projects in medicine and epidemiology. I would like to see some good arguments for notability, since I can easily think of quite a few people in his field in the Netherlands who have no Wikipedia article devoted to them, but who seem to me to have had big impact on methodology with high impact articles in the journals focussing on statistical methodology in the setting of medicine, health, disease. Invitation to join the Ten Year Society
Dear IntoThinAir/Archive 32,
I'd like to extend a cordial invitation to you to join the Ten Year Society, an informal group for editors who've been participating in the Wikipedia project for ten years or more.

Porter and Jick letter
I do not blame you for any problems with the article on the Porter and Jick letter, as you were building an article from scratch. However, recent improvements have been repeatedly reverted for reasons that have nothing to do with content. Specifically, see this revert and compare the two versions. It appears to me that the revert restored structural problems, awkward phrasing, misleading statements, and one clear factual error. It also removed good additions that helped to explain how the letter came about and why such misrepresentations might have later occurred. Perhaps you could undo this revert and make further changes as you see fit. 151.38.160.141 (talk) 00:59, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- I will take a look at this, thanks. IntoThinAir (talk) 01:02, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- I know that I'm a problem user (as much as I've tried to convince myself otherwise). Just focus on the content of those edits (which no one else seems to be doing). 61.220.170.133 (talk) 02:13, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- You do not need to waste your time dealing with messages from these abusive sockpuppets. By all means look into it, if you want to, but you owe this guy absolutely nothing. Not your time, not your effort, not your consideration. He is only here to steamroller over all our rules for his own objectives which, as far as I can tell, are nothing to do with Addiction Rare in Patients Treated with Narcotics and everything to do with an obsessive desire to "own" Wikipedia. DanielRigal (talk) 09:13, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Even if that were true, it's still wrong to summarily revert good edits. Neither you nor anyone else who has reverted on that page seem at all concerned about actual content. 61.220.170.133 (talk) 14:40, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

Mark Joseph Stern moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Mark Joseph Stern, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 12:52, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
Please can you add reliable third party sources to establish notability? Do you have any connection with the subject of this article? Thanks — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 07:22, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
- I have waited four days for your reply to this, as I was keen to discuss with you first.
- The first issue is that creating articles without reliable references is incompatible with holding the autopatrolled right, so I'm afraid I need to remove that. I note that this applies not only to the article linked above, but also Brandon Garrett, which I have tagged. It seems to me that notability has not been established for these subjects, and possibly not for some others too.
- Secondly, the page reviewer flag may also need removing, unless you can convince me otherwise?
- Thirdly, could you answer the question about having a connection to the subject of the article? Have you ever edited in situations where you have a conflict of interest? And, sorry to ask this, but have you ever edited for pay?
- Fourthly (and very much a minor issue), why do you create new articles with an edit summary of "Reference edited with ProveIt"? I guess this is automatically produced by some tool, but it seems to be an inaccurate summary when you are creating a whole new article!
- Looking forward to your response on the above — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:57, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- Eight days on, and you have not made any response to my points, or made any effort to adaquately source those two articles. Are you planning to respond or not? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:51, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
- First, I will concede that the notability of Stern is questionable, and I have had a difficult time finding independent sources for that article. However, while there are not currently many sources in the Garrett article, I am rather more confident of his notability due to his academic accomplishments.
- Second, I have not reviewed any pages in awhile so if you do not think I can be trusted to do that, you can remove that flag as well.
- Third, I do not have a personal conflict of interest with Stern. I have edited for pay in the past but have not done so for many years now, and certainly did not do that with the Stern article.
- Fourth, I have been using ProveIt for years when writing articles from scratch and that is what it autocompletes the edit summary with, and this is the first negative feedback (or indeed any feedback, as far as I can remember) I have received on that, but I will be happy to write more informative edit summaries when creating articles in the future.
- Lastly, I apologize for the delayed response, since I am not as active on here as I once was. IntoThinAir (talk) 02:30, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. If this a one-off lapse then there is no issue at all, because we have all made mistakes. You say there is no conflict of interest in this case, but can you explain your relationship to the account Mjsdc549? I notice that you added an image to the article which was uploaded 4 minutes earlier by this account. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:28, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- Yes I can, I was exchanging Twitter DMs with Stern and, just after telling him I had created a Wikipedia page for him, was explaining to him how to upload an image to Wikimedia Commons. He sent me a message telling me he had uploaded the image, and so I quickly added it to the article. IntoThinAir (talk) 14:40, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
