Triple Crown
Hello, HAL333
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Joel B. Lewis, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Speeches by Michael Crichton, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.
If you wish to contest the deletion:
- Edit the page
- Remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- Click the button.
If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Joel B. Lewis}}

More stalking
... or plain coincidence? CassiantoTalk 23:12, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- Nice. ~ HAL333 23:14, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- Sigh, HAL333. Must you be reminded to be mindful of the optics? El_C 23:16, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- Ok, ok, it was a little snippy, but the previous comment was only meant to agitate. ~ HAL333 23:24, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- What I'm talking about is supporting right after Cassianto opposed, in a bullet point right below theirs. That was a lapse in judgment on your part. To keep matters deescalating, please keep a wide margin. I'm not saying you can't participate in the same discussions, but aim for sensible distance, please. El_C 23:28, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- Will do. ~ HAL333 23:37, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

- El_C, [1] and [2] are not coincidences. This has to end. One more overlap and it’s ANI time, and I doubt many people would think this is coincidence. Hal333 has never edited the Sibelius article or talk page before, so I do wonder just how he found the discussion a couple of minutes after Cass. - SchroCat (talk) 00:01, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, I am unable to load that. It just times out for me. El_C 00:05, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- The tool can be found at WP:TOOLS. If you still can’t access it, that’s fine, I can just go to ANI for wider input. It’s creepy being stalked so regularly. - SchroCat (talk) 00:09, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, I got it. But this data could just be indicative of active interactions. Hounding is best shown through select individual diffs, which in this case would have to be recent (after deescalation was adopted). But I agree that this latest edit is suspect, which is why I admonished HAL333 for it. El_C 00:18, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- One more page where he magically appears and it’s ANI time. I normally avoid that cesspit like the plague, but stalking is the limit. Given this comment on the Sibelius page, it’s clear he just doesn’t get the problem stalking is here, or how many good editors have been driven off by it. That WMF are looking at bringing in heavier actions for this behaviour should stand as a warning to him, but we shall see if it gets through or not. - SchroCat (talk) 08:34, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- You still haven't provided any diffs. ~ HAL333 12:49, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- When you do it again (and I strongly suspect you will), the individual diffs will be taken from [3] and [4] (where there is enough prima facie evidence for most people to agree you've been stalking, given the closeness of the timings and the number of occasions where you are second to the page) and they will be put to ANI for scrutiny by the wider community. Sibelius better be the very last place where you stalk people. - SchroCat (talk) 13:28, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- Just thought I would drop this here. Evidence of wikihounding by Cassianto:
- Should also note that I have agreed with Cassianto on a few discussions. ~ HAL333 01:51, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think Stale diffs from March and January are actionable for the reason stated in my last comment. El_C 01:58, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- Nah, I don't really care, just pointing it out. ~ HAL333 03:15, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think Stale diffs from March and January are actionable for the reason stated in my last comment. El_C 01:58, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- Comment From now on, there will be no edits from this account that could be considered wikihounding. I expect the same from other editors. ~ HAL333 13:02, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

... for your support for Monteverdi's operas that now became a featured topic! ... exactly 10 years after both Brian and I were declared awesome ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:48, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
- Of course. Glad to see it happen. ~ HAL333 14:57, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
- There's a good related discussion (long though) on Iridescent: in a nutshell, content not layout. Leon Fleisher died, and his article was in a sad state. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:04, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
- That's too bad. I think my next big project will be getting a Morricone related article up to FL status. ~ HAL333 15:11, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
- Excellent idea! Klaviermusik mit Orchester for me (premiered by Fleisher in 2004, composed in 1923, - a DYK), after looking at Joseph Joachim who will be linked from the Main page next set. Compare his wife. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:26, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- And then came Historisches Museum Hannover (as I had wished) where copy-editing was needed ... - so Kammermusik still a red link but hopefully changing today. - Different colour question: one of our goals is accessibility, and your background colour here is a tat too little contrast, - could that be a bit lighter grey without being out of style? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:54, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- There's so much to do and so little time to do it. I adjusted the colors: hopefully they're more tame. ~ HAL333 13:43, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- I like the clear colours, thank you. The link to the music is now blue, - still more detail would be nice, but at least a start is made. Did you check out my project page for an accessibility feature, the one with the deleted talk page? First and last line are almost sufficient ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:51, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

- See, the term was coined in 2005, 4 years before I joined, 7 years before met the problem: Reach consensus. It stops being humourous when they want to ban your friend (who admittedly committed sins such as adding an infobox to The Rite of Spring on TFA day - today's featured article. - Read that discussion on the article talk, and you've seen it all.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:24, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- It's just so trivial. ~ HAL333 15:18, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- Yes. The line "Please let's not add another eyesore to another beautifully crafted article." sums it up for me, and what could you possibly answer? (You may have seen that I tried. Also I like the editor, and think we are on good terms, - which may be more important.) You will also have seen that - years later (2015, next archive) - the "eyesore" was added by so far uninvolved minds, and the great Brian Boulton did not object, just help. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:29, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Margot Robbie filmography
Films that have been released are considered primary sources and do not need additional sources. I can point to dozens of filmography pages on Wikipedia that do not include sources to simply list the film and their cast. That’s ridiculous. Especially when you consider (rightly) that IMDb is not s reliable source. I only included that because of your asinine assertion that a filmography needs sources when the film has already been released. Please get some kind of consensus about this because you are misunderstanding Wikipedia policy. Rcarter555 (talk) 05:17, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- Rcarter555 If you knew IMDb was not a reliable source, why would you add it? Please see Wikipedia:Featured lists - you'll find that every single featured filmography has a reference for each role. I've written multiple featured filmographies - I think I would know. ~ HAL333 11:26, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- I don’t care how many filmographies you have written, a released film or tv episode is considered a primary source and additional sourcing is not required. Per Wikipedia guidelines, one of the definitions of a primary source is “artistic and fictional works such as poems, scripts, screenplays, novels, motion pictures, videos, and television programs” To remove legitimate credits because you’re hung up on this defeats the purpose of the filmography. I have started a comment section on the relevant talk page which I welcome you to participate in, but do not revert these legitimate credits unless and until you can get s consensus. DYK for Jack Nicholson filmography
On 10 August 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jack Nicholson filmography, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that during his acting career spanning over 60 films, Jack Nicholson received 12 Academy Award nominations, more than any other male actor? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jack Nicholson filmography. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Jack Nicholson filmography), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Thank you, excellent! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:20, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
Infoboxes
Hi. I use infoboxes all the time. I want a quick overview of things and to see when the subject died or what his/her accomplishments were.
I dislike reading Wiki articles. Most are poorly written and inaccurate. A good infobox is just fine.
I see you're trying to add infoboxes. I see too you're having problems with consensus. Maybe I can help. But in all honestly I don't login to this site too much.
If you want to add infoboxes and want consensus, you can let me know. I'm with you all the way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BlueJackfruit (talk • contribs) 03:25, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks! I appreciate the sentiment. ~ HAL333 03:53, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- While I appreciate the sentiment, you get around 10 opposed each time, so would need to have 50 to make a difference in consensus, and it's not good for relations among editors + a waste of time that could go into article writing, - that's why I stopped arguing. Needless to repeat: some argue as if it was infobox OR lead. I never understood why they can't coexist, and nobody I know suggested to change the "beautifully crafted" leads. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:54, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- ps: recommended reading today about music, for harmony ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:57, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- I agree with that Gerda - it's been a while since I initiated an infobox rfc or discussion. Instead I've been able to pass some featured content. But I think I have to hold the line and participate in discussions, as Leonardo da Vinci said, "Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence." ~ HAL333 13:45, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

- A first for me today: a featured list (= a featured topic in this case) on the Main page, see Wikipedia:Main Page history/2020 August 21, an initiative by Aza24 in memory of Brian. - I wish he was with us. DYK that Brian came to my talk right before the arbcom sanctions to tell me of an experiment (CM means Claudio Monteverdi, and BB Benjamin Britten), and again? - While SchroCat, Tim riley and others knew him in person, I only met him on these pages. He and Tim offered me to participate in the FAC for Messiah, a great honour, - my first. (Next was Kafka, also in collaboration, and with Brian thoroughly reviewing. Only the third was a solo, BWV 172.) His last generosity was offering me his collection of sources for Monteverdi's Vespers. I was naive and just thought he had turned to Antarctic exploration. I guess he knew he would not live to use them. Quite a legacy, - again a great honour. Look. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:08, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

Uncollapsing infobox Frank Sinatra
Hi. I saw your edit history and SUPPORTED an infobox for Frank Sinatra.
The opposers don't have proper arguments. I think much of it comes down to the difference between amateur and professional writers.
Professionals understand that Nobody Wants To Read Your Shit, whereas the amateurs here on Wiki don't have a clue about what it's like to write for paid contracts.
This is why these amateurs are so possessive about their articles, and why they want to force users to read them (ie, do away with infoboxes).
PS. If you check the sources for articles written by some of these amateurs you'll see they are often very wrong. BlueJackfruit (talk) 09:56, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
- Actually, I wouldn't call some of those editors amateurs. A lot of them are retired academics or just really bright guys and gals. Some of their works here are well beyond anything on Britannica. I just disagree with them on one or two trivial things, but beyond that I admire and respect them. ~ HAL333 14:30, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
WP:AE is the worst Wikipedia has to offer, - I've been there, and try to avoid it like a virus, sorry for no help there. - For a glimpse at the best Wikipedia has to offer, look at collaboration. - I'd change this thread header. One of the bigger misunderstandings that the RfC is about the FS infobox. It is only about collapsing it (a kafkaesque idea to collapse what should be available at a glance) or not. - Best wishes for your GA efforts. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:41, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
NEGRO
Hello again.
See this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negro
In the first paragraph [after the intro] the article has this:
Around 1442, the Portuguese first arrived in Southern Africa while trying to find a sea route to India.
This is completely wrong and [obviously] unsupported by the sources. The error, YEAR 1442, seems to have been in place for over a decade.
Will you correct this? BlueJackfruit (talk) 05:29, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
- Do you have any reliable sources that support another date? ~ HAL333 14:17, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

By removing entire sections in one swoop because some of the facts were repeated earlier, you end up removing other, not previously mentioned facts. Please be a bit more careful in preserving relevant content added by others. QRep2020 (talk) 13:52, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

British slang
Regarding [9], I'm British and I've never heard anyone use the term 'messers'. Though I may simply be unaware of it, I think it is much more likely to be a typo for 'Messrs' given the context. 82.19.214.50 (talk) 14:41, 7 September 2020 (UTC)

If I could ask a favor ... I can tell from List of paintings by Thomas Cole that you know what you're doing here. You supported the other list (List of descriptive plant epithets (A–H)), and I made exactly the same edits on both lists in response to FLC comments ... so in terms of the things that FLC reviewers tend to care about, the two lists should be identical. If you have a chance to review the other list, I'd appreciate it ... it's been stuck for a while now with just two supports. I'll keep an eye out for your future FLC noms (whether you review this one or not). - Dank (push to talk) 19:36, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
