Brazilian inventions edit

Hi. Among the most controversial claims is that a country invented something. Since claims are controversial, you need to explain in each article that you add a category to why you feel that particular invention belongs more to Brazil than other countries. Please bear in mind that Wikipedia is WP:NOT a soapbox. Nor is it for political propaganda. You will find that many people will disagree with even very well established claim. you might want to consider whether you want to be involved in such arguments. November 2009 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Zeebo Extreme, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 23:23, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Zeebo Extreme edit

A tag has been placed on Zeebo Extreme requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Proposed deletion of List of shopping malls in Brazil edit

The article List of shopping malls in Brazil has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unmaintainable and unencyclopedic list lacking in sourcing. Also mainly consists of redlinks

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Divebomb is not British 19:14, 26 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Boomerang Volei.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Boomerang Volei.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. License tagging for File:2 Coelhos.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:2 Coelhos.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Difference edit

With reference to your talkpage comment at Spoleto (restaurant), yes. You can continue to contribute, and there is a difference. I'd suggest looking at WP:NPOV which is our policy about neutral point of view. NPOV involves no 'advertising' or 'peacock' expressions. Basically, no enthusiasm. Their product might be the greatest taste explosion since the first chicken got barbecued, but you can't say that. You have to give information that doesn't look like promotion, and that little example of mine is pure promotion. Look at the articles about the other chains. If you find anything in them like that, let me know. I didn't look into the references, but so long as they comply with WP:RS (our policy on reliable independent sources), and give more than a directory listing in terms of talking about them (and don't go into floods of obviously PR Dept supplied buzzwords), they should be OK. Try to think as though you were preparing info for the sort of judge who would ask in a court, "And who or what are Macdonalds, hmmm,?". (The real life one who asked who were the Rolling Stones knew perfectly well - he just wanted to get the info into the court record... That's your job here.) Good luck. File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Once Upon a Time Was I, Verônica.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Once Upon a Time Was I, Verônica.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 23:22, 11 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Elena (2012 film) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Elena (2012 film) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Speedy deletion nomination of Dental Departures, Inc. edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dental Departures, Inc. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. GSK 06:35, 27 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Paco Casal.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Paco Casal.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Proposed deletion of Barry Maher edit

The article Barry Maher has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This individual does not appear to meet the notability requirements listed at WP:BIO.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Abhinav Girdhar edit

Proposed deletion of ICD London edit

Hello, Flaviohmg. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, ICD London, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Ivanvector (talk) 04:40, 23 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Young Dread.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Young Dread.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. January (talk) 17:36, 29 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wow, the lists, especially about the Brazilian co-production, are very interesting. However, I really don't know what other Wikipedians would say... Albeit, here there are lists for virtually everything... Are you aware of List of fictional films, List of books about video games, List of former child actors from the United States or List of films with a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes? The Upper Footage edit

Hey, I've reverted the additions you made. I'm not adverse to changing some things, but the problem is that saying that the coverage was positive is that it's not as simple as that. The reviews for the actual film weren't that great all around. People loved the marketing but not the actual film itself. There's a big difference between the two, as the marketing is not the same thing as the film itself. There was a huge edit war with what I believe was the film's director, who tried to edit the article to be more promotional in tone. Because of that, I'd like it if we could discuss this on the talk page of the article before making any huge changes. I know you're not the director, but this should still be discussed because it's rather contentious to change the entire reception section to change it from saying that reception for the film was mostly positive when really... it wasn't. The reception to the marketing was positive, so saying that reception for the film was positive is a bit like saying that a movie was well received and reviewed because people liked the trailer for the film, even though they didn't actually like the film. Although I do have to say that the reception for the marketing wasn't entirely positive either, though. It was mixed. It was more positive than the film's reception itself, but it was still mixed.

Also, Examiner is not a reliable source in any context for several reasons, which is why it's on our blacklist. First of all, the site has had accusations of plagiarism against them. Secondly, it's kind of an "anyone can submit" type source. Thirdly, I've had multiple people say that people can pay to get their stuff reviewed or otherwise covered on there. There's more to it, but the thing is that nothing from that site can or should be used. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:24, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Oh, also- the Screen Rant source was already in the article and the part about the YT vid being titled Socialite Overdose was already in the article. I did re-add the NYC part, but I'd initially removed it because it wasn't in the SR article. We've got to be very careful that we have sources that back stuff like that up as far as titles go. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:38, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • We can change the wording for the marketing reception to say that there was skepticism over the marketing and leave out the mixed part, though. Most of the "mixed" part comes from the fact that a lot of people were very skeptical about all of this. In any case, we have to be very very careful about how we phrase things because the director has tried to use this page as a place to promote himself and in so doing, he's wiped out a lot of valid information. I would really like to avoid him coming back on here and starting up all the stuff he did last time. You can see some of it on the talk page from my end, but essentially we had someone come on here and accuse me of deliberately skewing the information because I worked for a horror website and was upset that I got fooled. He never outright said he was the director, I think, but it was fairly obvious that he was either the director or someone involved with him. It got really messy and the page got semi'd for a while and I think the editor got blocked for disruptive editing. There were other things said, but I'm detailing this more because I want to emphasize how carefully we need to go about all of this. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:50, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.

I noticed you worked on this article: [ https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fábio_Porchat&diff=599695973&oldid=599682516 ]

. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

  • dates
  • years
  • commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to The Upper Footage may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "{}"s. Proposed deletion of Mobiquant Technologies edit

The article Mobiquant Technologies has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Company is not notable. References given are primarily press releases, no reliable citations. Most of the editing has been done by single-use accounts, used only for this article. Article is not accurate, even a brief Google search will confirm that it is based in France. An article on the same company was deleted last year (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Mobiquant) and I do not believe that anything has changed since then.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Upper Footage edit

I've reverted some of the information. The problem here is that we need to guarantee that these sources are usable. Daily Grindhouse looks to be a blog type source. I'll run it through the RS noticeboard. I still think that the page should read as "mixed" as even the more positive reviews were mixed in how they covered the film. Even AICN, who is almost guaranteed to give a positive review for any given film they review, was mixed on what they felt about the film. Also, I noticed that you've created a page for the director. Since he's only known for this one film so far, it might be better to just redirect this to the Upper Footage article.

I do want to ask this, just to set my mind at rest. Have you been asked to edit the page by the director or anyone involved in the production? If so, then I would really appreciate you being up front about this. I don't think you're a sockpuppet or anything, but I'm just concerned that you might have been asked by the director/crew, who is probably the same person who came on to the page and made several personal attacks under various different sockpuppet accounts. That's part of why the edits to this page need to be done very, very carefully and the sources need to be looked at as well. If you want, we can always get a third opinion in here if you're concerned that I might have a vendetta against the director for whatever reason. (I don't, but this was one of the claims made, among others). I would just recommend that you take any advice from the director with a grain of salt because of all of this. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Replaceable fair use File:Sergio Kato.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Sergio Kato.jpg.

Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 17:49, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
