Reminder

Hi, just a reminder that when you add {{GA banner}} to someone's talk page, you have to substitute it, and not transclude it. To substitute the template, write: {{subst:GA banner}} If you simply transclude it, when someone goes to reply, they will be writing on the template itself. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 16:01, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Oh, okay. I did not know that. Thanks for letting me know that. I'll do that from here on forward. Cheers, TBrandley 16:04, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Grey's Anatomy

Hey TBrandley! Are you sure the "quotations within quotations" rule applies to references? Because in your changes if the author wrote, for example, with double quotation mark you changed it in single quotation mark like "Grey's Anatomy" into 'Grey's Anatomy'. But if we follow the logic, if it does apply to references, then when there's no quotation mark, since we put the author's title in the reference, we would have to put a double one, right? However, this would be too much work so I think we should just keep the references as they were before. Do you understand what I'm trying to say? ;) Sofffie7 (talk) 22:05, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Yep. Per WP:MOS; it should be for references too. That's why I made the changes. I'm sure that. But, I disagree, and still think it should be kept as it is now. Regards. TBrandley 22:08, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
All right, just wanted to be sure :) Sofffie7 (talk) 22:12, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
:) TBrandley 22:13, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Can you cite a specific quotation or link from the MOS that confirms this information, please? TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 22:16, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
By the way; obviously I believe you, it's just it would be helpful to know where it explicitly says this, if I were to be giving a source review and the issue was challenged. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 22:22, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! Might I add that I actually found it from here and on one of my FACs both cited by Nikkimaria. She explained to Grapple X, that "Per WP:MOS, should use single quote marks inside double quotes to avoid doubling." TBrandley 22:25, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I found the link/guideline. See MOS:QUOTEMARKS, etc. TBrandley 22:27, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Is there any indication that the guideline applies to references? TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 22:33, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Well, there is also no indication that it doesn't apply to references either. It says that it is "Recommended at Wikipedia." for everything. It is to avoid doubling. Nikimaria cites this concern all the time at FAC's, as do other reviewers/editors. Perhaps try WP:MOS/REF. TBrandley 22:44, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Found it. WP:MOSQUOTE says "When quoting a quotation that itself contains a quotation, single quotes may be replaced with double quotes, and vice versa". MOS:QUOTEMARKS says quotation marks within quotation marks should be single quotes, which is what occurs in titles enclosed by quotation marks in footnotes. TBrandley 16:14, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Please don't cap another user's comments as you did to mine at The X-Files' episodes FLC. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 00:44, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Okay. I'm sorry. TBrandley 00:47, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Nothing major. It just makes it more difficult to check if the comment had been addressed (I forgot the comment I left, lol). TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 00:49, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Okay then. Thanks, TBrandley 00:51, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Random

Hey Tate. Are you interested in horror films? TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 02:56, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Some. No very many though. Are you? TBrandley 02:58, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Very. My favorites would have to be Psycho (1960), Halloween (1978), Scream (1996), and When a Stranger Calls (1979). I asked because I would like to bring Halloween back up to featured status—it was demoted in January 2011—but if you don't like horror films, I guess you wouldn't want to work on it with me. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 03:02, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
No, I can for sure still help you, despite that. That's Grey's Anatomy for example. I don't really like Grey's Anatomy much, but still work with some articles. I'm still happy to help regardless. I try to work with anything in the Film/Television field, and help anything who needs it. Cheers! What help would you need? TBrandley 03:06, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! And you'll be watching Grey's Anatomy's premiere on September 27, right? :-) The concerns cited at the FAR were unreliable sources, and messy citations—not too much of an issue. However, since the standards for featured articles have grew significantly since it was originally promoted, I think there is more information available for it to be comprehensive. Also, the prose could use a good copyedit. But, I don't think I want to work on that article just yet; I really would like to get List of Grey's Anatomy characters to good topic. So, next month, if you could push a few character articles to good status, that would be extremely helpful. Once all the characters are at good status, the list will probably be easier to develop. There is currently no character featured list, so we would really be making a Wikipedia breakthrough if we could get that list to featured status. However, since there are no character featured lists, we have no inspiration for it. In other news, are you planning on doing a Britten family good topic—that would be easy and I would love to help with it. Another easy one would be List of Awake episodes—how many episodes are lacking good status? TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 03:15, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
I see you've went offline. :/ TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 03:17, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Still, just saw this. So: Yep; I'll give the show a try. The season premiere kinda looks like Lost. I'll work on the Halloween article. Sure, I'll try to help with characters. I know, no even for status master The Simpsons. Also, I would like some help on Michael, Rex, and Hannah, for a good topic. I was actually thinking about that. So, help would there would be appreciated. :) I have been working on FC, GA, reviewing, etc., so I haven't got to it, so. Thanks. Also, see User:TBrandley/GT prep. Only a few more, and at 78 percent, were almost done. Cheers for everything. TBrandley 03:21, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good. If you could write the 'plot's, I'd be happy to push an Awake episode to GA. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 03:24, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Sounds like a deal. But, since I'm not very familiar with GA, how would I be able to write some plots? Still going to. Also, if you could push an Awake episode that'd be great. If possible, could you model it with "Nightswimming" and "Say Hello to My Little Friend". Also, if you're a member of the project, I think, feel free to place the {{User Private Practice task force}} WP:PRIPRA userbox on your user page. Anyway, thanks. TBrandley 13:51, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
No, I was saying if you couk=ld write the plot section for an Awake episode, I could do the rest of the article. If you do a GA character, the plots are already there—the unnecessary details just need to be phished out. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 15:38, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh, yeah. How stupid of me. Thanks! I'll also soon get helping with GA characters articles. Any article you want done in particular? Regards. TBrandley 15:41, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Userboxes

I used your userbox header, if that's ok with you.Lucky102 (talk) 15:18, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Also, how come some pages have comments between dates, and some don't? By dates I mean birth and death, etc.--Lucky102 (talk) 15:26, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
Of course! Go ahead, use it. Glad someone is reading my user page. Also, that's just my choice. Happy editing! TBrandley 21:47, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Notice

Hi, The Rambling Man said that List of Grey's Anatomy cast members did not meet MOS:DTT. Therefore, he had a user (RexxS) give me a recommendation on what could make the table accessible. I acted upon his advice, and completely rewrote the 'cast' section of the list. You supported the list at its candidacy, so this is a courtesy message to inform you that the list has been significantly changed since you supported. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 22:15, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

I already saw over my watchlist. Okay. Thanks for letting me know! It's fine now again. TBrandley 22:25, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi TBrandley, could I ask you to take a look at the above nomination and see if I've addressed your comments sufficiently? Thanks. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:06, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Oops, I completely forgot. Right, I'll check. TBrandley 01:10, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
  • No problem, thanks for reviewing! — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:32, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Jackson Avery

Hey Tbrandley, this message to let you know that I did a bit of condensing for the storylines as Joey asked me to but I don't think it's ok yet; I just don't know what else to remove. I'll ask Joey to finish ;) --Sofffie7 (talk) 21:30, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Okay, thanks for letting me know! I'm still working on other sections. TBrandley 23:22, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

A-class nomination

Hey there TBrandley, I ran across your recent A-class nomination. I've never heard of that nomination before. How did you do that? I've been seriously considering if Folding@home is worthy of A-class. Maybe you could take a look, or enlighten me on how to do a A-class nom. I believe it uses the same grading criteria. Thanks, • Jesse V.(talk) 00:19, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Yeah, I only just found about A-class recently also. It's actually very simple: firstly, you create the page "Talk:PAGENAME/A-class nomination" with the text here, just copy-and-paste it. Then, create the page. After that, place the A-class review on the article's talk page. If that article is passed for A-class (some get a peer review first), then consider getting someone to copy-edit the article for a fighting chance at FAC. Cheers, or, and by the way, here is the A-class, and here for criteria. TBrandley 01:43, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! • Jesse V.(talk) 02:55, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Colors

Hi, it was revealed that the colors are perfectly permissible. That said, please don't revert because an edit war on an FLC will lead to a fail. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 04:50, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Question

Hey, I'm doing the plot for Slack Water, and I'm using the recap you gave me on TVRage. That said, the website just keeps saying "reality 1" and "reality 2"; which is green and which is red? TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 05:06, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

"Reality 1" is the red reality, and "Reality 2" is the green reality. Thanks, TBrandley 05:08, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
Got it. Thanks, TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 05:16, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

I hate to do this, but could you finish up the plot on "Slack Water"? I did as much as I could, but the plot is just too confusing. When you're done, I'll begin my work on the rest of the article. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 17:11, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

For sure. Awake is a confusing series, like two different shows, with two different realities. I've just finished up my GA review of that article. Also, my work on Jackson is at my sandbox. Plus, could you take a look at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Nightswimming (Awake)/archive1. A billion thank you's! TBrandley 17:16, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
Ok; are you going to finish it now, or should I work on the article right now? I don't want an edit conflict. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 18:25, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
Well, actually, could you do the rest? Then, after, I'll finish up the plot summary if that's okay :) TBrandley 18:27, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

The Revolution link does not violate any one of those rules. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.203.222.115 (talk) 19:33, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

On my talk page, you gave me a bunch of prod. links; you wrote Radio Times, but there's no link provided. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 01:36, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Sorry; [1], and all other individual episode links for there, by clicking on Awake at top of link I provide you, because you can say "he later directed this", etc. Also, due to your work with Awake, would you like to join the Awake task force? Cheers, TBrandley 01:39, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Sure. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 01:40, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! You should place the Private Practice and Awake WikiProject userboxes on your user page. Cheers, TBrandley 01:41, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Done. You better get going on Jackson Avery, I'm almost done with "Slack Water". :-) TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 01:45, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Yep, I'm still working on it. TBrandley 01:55, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Lol

I see someone liked my idea of a project header! Only problem is that you repeated "People love the show. Seriously." -- "Seriously" is a Grey's Anatomy catchphrase. Get your own ;-) TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 03:32, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Lol. :) Well do. TBrandley 15:07, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Domenico Piccichè

Ok. I will try to improve the article. But I give you only two examples: Andrea Ferrante that has also a weebly site, and Jurgis Karnavicius that has no sources at all! No CDs, nothing. I don't think that Domenico Piccichè is less important... only because he has a weebly site! Can you give me some other suggestions? Thank you! --Wikiim (talk) 09:27, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

K; the main problem is that the article has no high-quality reliable sources that pass WP:RS, and the article would get listed for deletion. Andrea Ferrante has sources from iTunes, which proves his notably, and Jurgis Karnavičius has one good sources there. His notably needs to be proven. Cheers, TBrandley 15:10, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. I will work on it! --Wikiim (talk) 07:31, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Grimm

I suggested it be added to the NBC Monday schedule and you reverted it, but I only added it after you suggested adding it. Why suggest I add it if you knew it was on the 2011-2012 schedule and you were going to revert it? Darrenhusted (talk) 15:47, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

I was mistaken then. Guess I was on the wrong talk page, feel free to add to the 2011-12 schedule. Cheers, TBrandley 15:49, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

It's already on there. Darrenhusted (talk) 16:59, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Hey, Tate. You've been doing really good as the monitor, but just a reminder that you should always warn users/IPs who you revert. Thanks, TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 00:35, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi, medical school has resumed recently, so I have been extremely busy. Depending on how much work I am given the rest of the week, I may not be able to do any major editing on "Slack Water" until this weekend. Apologies, TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 04:10, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. Good luck at medical school. I started school on the 4th. :0 TBrandley 22:40, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

GOCE word counts

Hi. Just to let you know that I've adjusted the counts in your section of the drive page, as we count words, not bytes. There's a word-counting tool described here. It fails to count words in lists and tables, unfortunately, but I've included the words in the list in Arrested Development by copying them into MSword and using its word-counting tool. I've also changed the annotation from *O to *R, as they are requests, not tagged articles. The bonus is the same, so that's a minor detial. Kind regards, --Stfg (talk) 16:31, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Something else I noticed: Changing section titles as you did at Arrested Development (TV series) is not regarded as "copyediting", and can actually be considered a fairly major change. There is nothing wrong with proposing a section title change, but it is usually best to consult with the article's primary editors on the talk page, to see what they think. Other than that, though, the copyedit you performed looks good! TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 18:56, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Good point, thanks TRLIJC19. It applies to requested copy edits rather than the tagged articles. Also, when changing section headings, it's desirable to place an {{anchor}} template so as not to break any section wikilinks. --Stfg (talk) 19:08, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
K. Thanks for your tips! Well do that from now on. Cheers, TBrandley 22:25, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Awake task force invitation

Hey TBrandley, I thought I would finally get back to you about the task force invitation. Joining task forces on Wikipedia is not my thing. I'm really freelance when it comes to editing articles on actors, TV shows, films and such. Thanks for the invite anyway and keep up the good work. :) QuasyBoy (talk) 23:02, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Okay, I do see your point. That's okay. Happy editing! TBrandley 04:09, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Recommendation

Hi, Tate. In your signature, the links to your talk and contribs are so small, they're barely clickable. That said, I think you should divide the links in the text evenly. So it would be: TBrandley. It would certainly be more functional. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 04:04, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Good point. Done. Are you clicking on those links, etc. (please say yes, please lol)? Cheers, TBrandley 04:07, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
Much better! Yes, I click them when I need to navigate to your talk page and/or user page and contribs. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 04:08, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
That's awesome! :) TBrandley 04:10, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

List of Indian Premier League centuries

Hi. Thanks very much for spotting that List of Indian Premier League centuries had already reached FL and for taking action. In cases like that, I like to check whether there's still a requirement, so rather than delete such requests, please could you mark them {{on hold}} with a comment similar to the one you put in your edit summary? In this case, it was still fairly poor, and both the most recent copy editor and the FLC reviewer had not realised that cricket always uses the term innings (which is singular) and not the American term inning. Thanks. --Stfg (talk) 18:09, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Oh, it's no problem. Just here to help. And, yes, sure, I'll do that from now on. Cheers, TBrandley 19:30, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

The Big Bang Theory Psychoanalysis Section

Hello there! I notice that you removed my contribution about psychoanalytic implications in the Big Bang Theory show. My contribution is sourced with corresponding episodes, and it is informative, according to discussions I have held with friends who have watched the show and have missed these implications. Therefore, people will be interest to read, and they may get something from the show that they would otherwise miss. Thus, I think that this section has its place in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ngyi1983 (talkcontribs) 21:12, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not a fan site, and should not contain pointless trivia. Furthermore, there are no references; use {{cite episode}}, or an actual web reference. Please have this stuff elsewhere, like Wikia.com, or feel free to put your work in your sandbox. Shouldn't be in the actual article, however. TBrandley 21:18, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
Citations must directly support claims, and the episode references that Ngyi1983 added do not do that. The whole section constititues original research, with much of it being WP:SYNTH. --AussieLegend (talk) 21:48, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
Agree. Thanks for commenting. So, Ngyi, you have lots of guidelines that full section violates. Please also see my above comment. Regards. TBrandley 21:52, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Having added references, I disagree that my section is any different from respective sections on science and religion. The characterization "pointless trivia", compared to details on characters sexual relations throughout the article seems a little funny. Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ngyi1983 (talkcontribs) 22:22, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

How's it going

Hey, TBrandley, how's it going? I'm just about done with "Slack Water" on MS Word, and should be able to put it online by the end of the week. I understand you're on a wikibreak, so don't feel rushed with Jackson Avery's article. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 03:17, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Also, congrats on the promotion of "Nightswimming"! I am gonna nominate Sadie Harris very soon; how does it look? TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 20:29, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! I will take a look for FA at your nomination soon. TBrandley 23:07, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive mid-drive newsletter

  • Participation: Out of 37 people signed up for this drive so far, 19 have copy-edited at least one article, about the same as the last drive. If you've signed up but haven't yet copy-edited any articles, every bit helps; if you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!
  • Progress report: We're almost on track to meet our targets for the drive. Great work, guys. We have reduced our target group of articles—August, September, and October 2011—by about 44%, and the overall backlog has been reduced by 58 articles so far, to around 2600 articles. The biggest difference between this drive and the previous one is a stronger focus on large articles, so total word counts are still comparable.

Hi, Tate :-) I hope you're enjoying your WikiBreak. When you return, can you review Sadie Harris at its featured article candidacy? Thanks, TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 21:46, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

By the way, you may want to return really soon. The issues brought up at Awake's FAC have been sitting for some time now, and I fear it may be archived in the next promotion/archival round. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 15:06, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Don't worry, I am returning tommorow, as planned. The only reason I took a Wikibreak in the first place was due to school work mostly. Thanks, TBrandley 15:29, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Glad to hear it. I'd hate to see Awake archived again. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 15:34, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Yep, me too. Trust me, I'm getting the shakes. A true Wikiholic, whatever lol. Cheers, TBrandley 15:38, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
That's how I felt when a user opposed Sadie Harris. Luckily, though, he striked it and supported. After an image review, I'd say it is ready for promotion. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 15:40, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Sigh. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 16:05, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Arr, oh well. I will keep trying. TBrandley 01:47, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

Outstanding GOCE requests

Hi. You appear to have two GOCE requests marked by you as "working" -- Arrested Development (TV series) and all things -- but you haven't edited either for several days. What is their status? Best, --Stfg (talk) 14:04, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

Im still working on them. Currently on Wikibreak, be back soon. TBrandley 23:07, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. Please could I ask you in future not to pre-book articles that you aren't going to do straight away, as it may result in delay to the progression of articles that other copy editors would have taken up. Also, we have a rule that a copy editor should only take on one request at a time. Regards, --Stfg (talk) 08:20, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
Okay. Sure; I'm back now and will be working and editing the articles. Okay, I didn't know yet, still a "newbie". Cheers! TBrandley 13:21, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

Ian Fleming FAC

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first James Bond film, SchroCat and I have the above up for FAC and we would really value any comments or concerns that you may have. I really hope you can join us. -- CassiantoTalk 16:43, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

Of course, for sure, after all you've done for me. I'll leave some comments briefly. Cheers! TBrandley 01:48, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

"Theatre, film and drama" GA section change proposal

Hello, TBrandley. I've proposed some changes to the "Theatre, film and drama" section at GA, and I noticed you voiced some similar concerns. You can find and comment on my proposal here: Wikipedia talk:Good articles#.22Theatre.2C film and drama.22 section change proposal. Thanks. -- Wikipedical (talk) 04:32, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

Sure. TBrandley 13:25, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

A-Class reviews

Hey man. I saw you were going to leave comments on "all things" for a bump to A-Class; do you think you'd be able to look at "Gender Bender" as well at some point? There's no rush as I have a good lot planned to work on for the next few weeks but eventually I'll come back to it. I can do the same for any article you'd like to see given that bump too, if you'd like; I can leave some stuff on the talk page like I did on "all things", that way someone will be able to add the second opinion whenever possible. GRAPPLE X 17:09, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Certainly. Also, I'm looking at "Two Birds" for A-Class. A perhaps "A-class" version is in one of my sandboxes. I'll take a look at your A-class stuff ASAP. Cheers, TBrandley 02:42, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
The sandbox draft looks good so far; always good to see Howard Gordon writing again too. When you go live with it ping me for a review. GRAPPLE X 03:02, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Yep, Gordon is a good writer. I will let you know once ready for A-Class, same goes for yours. Cheers, TBrandley 23:07, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
Which articles would you like reviewed for A-Class? I'll get on it. Back from Wikibreak! TBrandley 01:46, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
Hope you had a good one. Well, "all things" has had comments already so if you join in that'll make two editors, so it could be promoted. Of lesser importance is "Gender Bender"; I'd like to see it bumped but you'd be the first to comment on it if you did. Thanks, dude. GRAPPLE X
Actually, I can't do "all things", as I am copyediting it. I was going to, but decided to do that instead. :) Anyway, I'll for sure leave some comments for "Gender Bender" very soon. Cheers! TBrandley 01:51, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
Technically if you're copy-editing it then you'll at least be happy with the prose, then. :P GRAPPLE X 01:55, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
Yep, pretty easy work. :) TBrandley 02:01, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
Done, have added all comments to there. Cheers! TBrandley 01:57, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

I guess it's obvious I copied the Simpsons portal ;)

Lol. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 00:44, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

Also, I'm so impressed with the A-class review setup for WP:AWK! Can you do this for WP:SGH? Thanks, TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 01:04, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! Sure; if you'd like, please give me a bit of time though. I actually copied that, you make know. Unrelated, I have been planning to transfrom the Awake force into an actual "WikiProject" it would be "WikiProject Awake" instead. Good idea, any thoughts also? Thanks! TBrandley 01:25, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
That's fine. I'll try to copy it too; if I can't, I'll let you know. I think turning the task force into a project is a good idea; there's certainly enough articles for it. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 01:31, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

Power Play (Cheers)

Cheers (season 2) is recently created from my sandbox and have duplicated relevant material of above article into season 2. I wonder if you can take away its GA. I am planning to merge the article into season 2. What do you think? --George Ho (talk) 22:18, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

Yep, sure. Good idea. TBrandley 23:05, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
Done. Click here. --George Ho (talk) 23:10, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

ACR

Hey, there's some formatting issues with the set up for Awake's ACR; mind if I fix it? TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 00:13, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Nope, not a all. All of, Wikipedia is the "free encyclopedia that anyone can edit", and it's a "free country". Go right ahead. Cheers! TBrandley 00:19, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Ok, everything's sorted out. Please press the 'initiate the nomination' on Awake's talk, and be amazed ;) TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 00:41, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Wow, thanks so much! Awesome. Also, I just created a A-Class review delegate/coordinator template for both WP:GA and WP:AWK. Would you like to use it? Regards, TBrandley 01:00, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Sure, I also have some things to go over to ease our jobs as delegates/coordinators:
  • The review pages tell us when to fail/approve the nomination. The first thing to do, when you make a decision, is to add {{ACRClosed|approved|reason for approval (brief)}} or {{ACRClosed|failed|reason for fail (brief)}} to the bottom of the review page. This lets nominators know the outcome of the review quickly. Then, remove the article from the nominations page, and add it to the log under "Approved nominations" or "Failed nominations". Then, update the class to 'A', remove the nomination notice from the talk page, and update the article history. After all this, tag the discussion as closed. Let me know if you get all of this. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 01:09, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Yep, I got all of this. Thanks! TBrandley 01:11, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Also, do you think more "delegates" should be found, as for lots of purposes, including if both of us have an article nominated, also like that at WP:FAC. Opinions? Thanks, TBrandley 01:16, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

I don't think so. FAC is a big process. We're not gonna see loads of action around here, and one delegate is good. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 01:18, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Yep, I suppose so. Thanks! TBrandley 01:19, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Archived FAC

"The following is an archived discussion of a featured article nomination. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the article's talk page or in Wikipedia talk:Featured article candidates. No further edits should be made to this page." -- You're not supposed to edit previously archived FACs, lol. You should probably revert those edits. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 02:18, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Arrested Development GAN

Hello, TBrandley. I saw you copyedited the Arrested Development page today. I had nominated it for GA last month and am wondering whether you'd at all want to review it for GA status. Thanks. -- Wikipedical (talk) 19:43, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, but I can't review it. The rules say that an editor whose made many contributions to an article cannot review that same article for GA review. Regards, TBrandley 22:44, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Watch those edit summaries

Let's try to remember WP:CIVIL when writing edit summaries. You can make your point without being sarcastic, and in once case, bordering on insulting. Remember, too, how WP:BRD works. --Drmargi (talk) 00:03, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Joseph Grimaldi

I currently have the above listed at peer review as a result of a lot of work and research which I have conducted over the last couple of months. I would be extremely greatful for any comments you may have and would welcome any feedback or suggestions. Many thanks in advance. -- CassiantoTalk 02:16, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Sure; I'll try to have a look ASAP. TBrandley 13:41, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Cristina Yang

Sorry to bother you, but could you get going with the GA review for Cristina Yang? It's been sitting for four days with your name signed as reviewer, and an additional six days before you signed on. Thanks, TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 20:52, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Good articles (Participant Clean-Up)

Hello, you are receiving this message because you are currently a participant of WikiProject Good articles. Since the creation of the WikiProject, over 200 user's have joined to help review good article nominations and contribute to other sections of the WikiProject. Over the years, several of these users have stopped reviewing articles and/or have become inactive with the project but are still listed as participates. In order to improve communications with other participants and get newsletters sent out faster (newsletters will begin to be sent out monthly starting in October) all participants that are no longer active with the WikiProject will be removed from the participants list.

If you are still interested in being a participant for this WikiProject, please sign your user name here and please help review some articles so we can reduce the size of the backlog. If you are no longer interested, you do not need to sign your name anywhere and your name will be removed from the participants list after the deadline. Remember that even if you are not interested at this time, you can always re-add your name to the list whenever you want. The deadline to sign your name on the page above will be November 1, 2012. Thank-you. 13:35, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Word count for Ed, Edd n Eddy (season 1)

Hi, I saw your edit summary about that on the drive page. Yeah, the page size tool doesn't work on tables and bulleted lists. Mostly, they aren't text, and should be excluded anyway, but in those episode lists, the only thing one can do is to paste into a word processor and use its word count tool. This gives a high count (because the headers get counted as well), but we won't nickel-and-dime you about that. I've done it for Ed, Edd n Eddy (season 1) for you. Cheers, --Stfg (talk) 09:26, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! TBrandley 14:10, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
Welcome. I've just done it for "...Amor Fati" too, but the page size tool is enough for that one. Are you having trouble getting it up and running? --Stfg (talk) 16:08, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I guess so. TBrandley 17:25, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

Update for: WikiProject Good articles (Participant Clean-Up)

Sorry for having to send out a second message but a user has brought to my attention that a point mentioned in the first message should be clarified. If user's don't sign on this page, they will be moved to an "Inactive Participants" list rather then be being removed from the entire WikiProject. Sorry for any confusion.--Dom497 (talk)15:25, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) As the guy who wrote a lot of the earlier two-parters, I definitely did note on them that they were continued from/in another episode. See this quote from Colony (The X-Files) for an example: ""Colony" is a two-part episode, with the plot continuing in the next episode, "End Game"."; this is present in a large number of these articles. GRAPPLE X 21:20, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Fox program list

While I can appreciate the work you put in, you have to understand that that all these network programming list articles are supposed to be just nuts and bolts lists. They don't need all the extra stuff on top of it. All the pictures and whatnot added on aren't necessary for what this article is supposed to be, and that's merely a list of programs.

Again, an "A" for effort, but wrong place, wrong time. Vjmlhds 04:32, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

No, there are not. Who says? Read my edit summary: I'm sorry, but I am taking this to FLC and that is based on the requirements per WP:FL? TBrandley 04:34, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

I've requested that List of programs broadcast by Fox be placed under temporary full protection to stop the edit war between the two of you. I hope you two can resolve this argument soon. Regards, Davejohnsan (talk) 03:49, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

Either do it for all the networks or don't do it at all...why should Fox get special treatment...it violates WP:NEUTRAL Vjmlhds 01:10, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

That is the single stupidest thing I've ever heard an editor here say. Why is Hamlet a featured article but The Merry Wives of Windsor isn't? Editors are free to work on whatever content they so desire. Your actions, Vjmlhds, are utterly disruptive. I'll be bringing you to WP:ANEW for gross violation of the 3-revert rule if you blank the article again; you've already violated it enough to warrant a block as is. GRAPPLE X 01:13, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Fox programs

Tate, this edit was inappropriate. I'm not saying the actual edit was bad, but the matter in which you performed it was. Rollback should never be used to edit war; it should only be used on clear-cut cases of vandalism. If the edit war escalates, and an admin sees that you used rollback, your rollback rights will probably be revoked. Be careful, TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 00:02, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I was just about to use TW, but then accidentally used rollback! Then, I figured that there was no point in going back. TBrandley 00:04, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
I clarifyed things up by reverting my mind while explaining, then undoing his again, as you may know. Thanks! TBrandley 00:07, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Good, it would suck for you to lose those rights! Also, this is gonna be a busy week for you. With GA returning, there's gonna be a lot of unwanted content/vandalism hitting the GA articles. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 00:09, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
That's fine, unless I'm not online at those times. ;0 Same for PP? TBrandley 00:16, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Yes, PP premieres tomorrow night. My MacBook charger broke yesterday, so I've had to use some old Dell. I absolutely hate Windows computers, so I won't be doing any article development this week. However, I ordered a new charger, and it should be here by the weekend. Also, thanks for promoting Yang. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 00:36, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
That makes two of us. I always use a Windows, but then again, I got used to it. :( Mac's are awesome. A friend of mine said that suck. Wow; where does he get this stuff lol. Your welcome for the promotion. TBrandley 00:39, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Hmm, I got my first MacBook after high school graduation. The one I use now (13" MB Pro), was given to me after college graduation. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 00:46, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Cool. Basically everyone I know uses Windows :0 lol. TBrandley 01:08, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

Also, I noticed you always forget to update the project classes on an article's talk page when promoting an article to GA. Always do this, or the article won't be classified as good on the project pages. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 01:13, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

On the subject of the article; that final ref could really do with being split out into several individual page cites rather than a 500+ page range. Even splitting it by chapters (if there are chapters) and using the range for each of those would be better; with a range that large you're essentially just citing the whole book at once. However, brave choice; it's an unusual but interesting topic to handle. I believe there's some good material out there on how the mid-to-early 90s really saw the channel taking off under the success of The Simpsons and The X-Files if you want to further augment the prose. GRAPPLE X 01:45, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

About the book source, I don't really understand what to really do regarding that. I do however have information about The Simpsons gave the channel success, but not The X-Files, I'll look. Thanks! TBrandley 01:49, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Well currently you have nearly 40 cites to "Brooks, Tim & Marsh, Earle (2007). The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows (9th ed.). New York: Ballantine. pp 1-1566." (I now see it's one thousand five hundred pages, not just five hundred). Each of those individual cites could point to a specific page or small page range using {{sfn}}, otherwise it's not really helpful to include that page range at all. For instance, your first ref might be "Brooks & Marsh 2007, p. 67", the next might be "Brooks & Marsh 2007, pp. 101–106", etc. That'll make it much easier for each reference to be verified if someone wants to check it in the book. GRAPPLE X 01:53, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Not sure. Honestly, actually, when I started working on this list (about even one and a half weeks ago), that book source was already there. I don't know which page or anything about that or the page. Perhaps I'll try contacting the person who added those book sources in the first place. Cheers, TBrandley 02:05, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
It might be available to preview on Google books or Amazon. You don't even need to be able to fully read it; searching for a programme's title will show you which page it's mentioned on, which is really all you need for all it's being used for. GRAPPLE X 02:09, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 72 hours for edit warring. That was just flat out ridiculous. You've been here a long time, you know the rules--it doesn't matter if you are right, you MUST NOT edit war. I've blocked the other editor as well. When you come back, talk about the issue on the article's talk page. If you can't agree, user dispute resolution. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Request reason:

I believe I should be unblocked. Yes, I do know the rules, I have been here awhile, I have violated WP:3RR; sorry. But despite this, I personally believe those revert edits that was very much reverted was constituted as vandalism. It had reliable sources, and he removed details, that was not uncontroversial to the subject, or article in any way. The other editor didn't like that article had been improved, unlike others, such as the CBS program list, as well as all others, expect for the Fox one which I had expanded. That same editor blanked the page List of The X-Files episodes, which is a featured list, and he didn't explain for that at all! I believe that both constitutes bad faith, despite the assuming good faith guideline. Sorry, but I believe that a block is a little harsh. Sorry again. Just a note, the issue in hand have been resolved as of yesterday. I promise to go by WP:BRD from now.

Decline reason:

For such an extreme case of edit warring, I would expect a very compelling explanation. "They were vandalizing" would in fact be a valid reason, if only it were true. I would suggest you review WP:VANDAL and re-evaluate that position. Beeblebrox (talk) 01:52, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Request reason:

I'm sorry, but I am human. I made a mistake. Also see the above request that I made.

Decline reason:

Your block is for a blatant case of edit warring. I've just spent an hour and a half going through your entire editing history and it's clear that although you claim you know the rules you are just not able to stick to them. Primarily, there is a maturity issue here, and if this block were a lot longer I still wouldn't consider shortening it until you can demonstrate that you can edit with responsibility and understand that Wikipedia, its GAs, and its FAs are not some kind of game. This current block is very short and you can weather it out, but in your short time here you have managed to repeatedly break just about every rule in the book so be aware that if you step out of line just once more, there can be no 'Sorry, I forgot' type of excuses and you're going to be blocked for a very long time. Block message:

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "TBrandley". The reason given for TBrandley's block is: "Edit warring".

Decline reason: Procedural decline clearing template. Autoblock issue resolved. Tiderolls 03:37, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

I don't know if it helps but I fully support this request, TBrandley has only ever been an enthusiastic creator and reviewer of quality content and isn't a liability in the slightest to the project; I have already expressed my belief at the relevant WP:ANEW threat that his reverts were simply fighting vandalism. GRAPPLE X 23:03, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
I agree. • Jesse V.(talk) 23:09, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

This is not a fan club voting page. You can rest assured that an admin is quite capable of deciding. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:46, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
Oh dear, how sweet of you to get a few supportive comments confused with "fan club" mail. I cant speak for Grapple, but I for one do not consider myself as a member of a "fan club" of anybody's. These are a few supportive comments that balance out the negativity that being blocked generates. Incidentally, I am so pleased you were there to point out this isn't a "fan club voting page"...phew! -- CassiantoTalk 12:41, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
I actually appreciated these above comments for me. Yes, you decide since your an admin, but there's nothing wrong with any supportive comments. Regards, TBrandley 23:23, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I was in a dispute with Vjmlhds recently, and when I saw he was blocked, I found you. You seem to be a dedicated editor, so I have some advice. I've been a few of these "person trying to improve a page vs. person trying to maintain status quo arguments" and it can be incredibly frustrating. I understand why you reverted the other guy so many times - when you work hard on a page, it can be quite upsetting to see your hard work immediately reverted by someone else. I've encountered Vjmlhds many times and quite frankly I'm amazed he's only been blocked twice. He falls under the category of "revert first, come up with a reason why later." But, you did go far above and beyond 3RR. You simply have to sit it out. My main point is that you shouldn't let this get you down. I've seen some great editors get slapped with a block, which pretty much kills their enthusiasm for wikipedia. And in this case, the admins are being quite harsh to you (not with the block, but with their words). I hope once this block ends that you don't lose your enthusiasm for editing. -- Scorpion0422 17:06, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your advice. TBrandley 23:00, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Regarding the admins' latest comments by Kudpung, including "but in your short time here you have managed to repeatedly break just about every rule in the book so be aware that if you step out of line just once more" you know, that was my past. I don't know if you noticed that my last block was way back in April 2012. Since then, I have been trying to become a better editor, and forget my past. Your making that hard. "its GAs, and its FAs are not some kind of game" I know that. I mean, sure, I look getting articles up to GA, FA, etc., everyone does, but I don't believe it is a game, I'm also helping Wikipedia! Again, I am hoping that my edits are getting better. Sorry, but your comments really hurt, and come off as insulting, especially the first one I noted, as well as others though. Regards, TBrandley 23:17, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Don't worry about it too much, the admin is just trying to scare you. I'm sure he didn't mean it this way, but you should take it as a challenge: Improve yourself and your abilities and show him what kind of editor you can be. Some of the best users I know started out with vandal tendencies and have broken "just about every rule in the book". And, in my experience, 90% of admins are jerks (particularly those that try to scare away content editors), so don't let it get to you. -- Scorpion0422 02:26, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm sure the admin is being a little bit strict so that these very block or issue doesn't happen again. I'm sure too. Thanks for your input. TBrandley 00:23, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Yes, TBrandley, you also know, more than many, that I especially do a lot to help and support our younger editors, but even when I was a school teacher, I occasionally had to send some of my favourite students out of the room. I do indeed have a reputation on Wikipedia for being sometimes blunt and strict, but always fair. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:17, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I did violate so yeah you do certainly did make the right choice now that I think about it further. Just a little bit strict I suppose. Sorry. Your a good editor and admin Kudpung! I used to break rules all the time, since I didn't understand any of the rules, seriously any of them at all. This block is only minor, and short, so it doesn't really matter much. Sorry again for the above comments regarding your comments about me. Cheers, TBrandley 00:18, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
When you block expires, don't forget that you are always welcome to come to my talk page for any help or advice. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:26, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
Why certainly. Thanks!   TBrandley 01:36, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Can someone please note at the categories for discussion for Category:WikiProject Awake that "Awake task force" has been changed to "WikiProject Awake" and that their is a separate template for that. It should be all merged to "WikiProject Awake" not "Awake task force". Thank you. TBrandley 01:21, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Added it for you. GRAPPLE X 01:27, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks!   TBrandley 01:36, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

I submitted {{unblock-auto}} above, for an unblock, due to it being extended automatically. Why did it? It should be expired now, the other editor, ‎Vjmlhds, is editing again, and I'm still blocked, I can't edit. Why?! TBrandley 14:02, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Can someone tell an admin about the above (autoblock)? No answers throughout the whole day. Thanks, TBrandley 00:35, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

No worries, unblocked now. Thanks anyway, TBrandley 01:04, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

GAN section changes followup

Hey TBrandley, was wondering whether you might take a look at the revised proposal to revise the "Theatre, film and drama" section at GA, since you had also voiced concerns on GA's (archived) talk page. You can find it at Wikipedia talk:Good articles#.22Theatre.2C film and drama.22 section change proposal. Thanks. -- Wikipedical (talk) 06:21, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

Hey

Hey Tate. Glad to see your block expired. When you get a chance, we need your input at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Grey's Anatomy/Administrative board. Thanks, TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 15:28, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Also, thanks for agreeing to review "Going, Going, Gone". If you could do that one fast, that'd be helpful, because it's at DYK, and it would be nice if any issues could be pointed out during the review. By the way, what did you think of the GA premiere? TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 05:08, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Sure! Regarding the episode, I felt that it was sad, while parts of the episode were boring, though I certainly enjoyed the episode's ending where Meredith demanded to get of the plane, and thereafter. Though most was sad, there were a couple funny scenes with that Miranda Bailey. No offense to GA or you, but the music in the episode gave my a headache, arr. Oh, well. Overall, the episode was good, and will for sure be watching the second episode next week, after those two comedies on CBS right before  . Cheers! TBrandley 05:59, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, their music is very emotional. Do you have a Netflix account? If so, when you get the time, I recommend watching "It's the End of the World/As We Know It", "17 Seconds/Deterioration of the Fight or Flight Response/Losing My Religion", "Walk on Water/Drowning on Dry Land/Some Kind of Miracle", "Now or Never", "Sanctuary/"Death and All His Friends", "Song Beneath the Song", and "Flight". Those are the 13 great classic GA episodes. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 15:10, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
Nope, but I have Hulu Plus, and other stuff I use to watch television and films. GA is there, there's just no CBS! Yeah, I watched the first little bit of "Flight", but then didn't continue to watch. The others may be good, though I don't think that "Song Beneath the Song" will be my style. TBrandley 15:27, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
"Song Beneath the Song" was weird, but a classic. However, the other episodes are a must. They will really get you to appreciate the series. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 15:36, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Farine reverted the list back to the way he/she wants it. I'm trying to reason with him/her. Also, just a friendly reminder to comment at the admin board page, and review GGG ASAP. Thanks, TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 18:26, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Also, I just got Hulu Plus! TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 22:12, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
Cool.   TBrandley 23:11, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
