editor: the resurrection of loving-kindness --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:46, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
Thank you today for Alf Ramsey, "about the only England manager to have won a major trophy", done in collaboration with "The Rambling Man and another former editor, whom I remember fondly and would love to see editing again"! - I am happy to share the Main page, the lowly DYK featuring what Penderecki believed, including "this is the day that the Lord has made, ..." from Psalm 118. Today, any day. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:47, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Hey, i would rather do this here than per mail since my address contains personal information. ;) Kante4 (talk) 15:51, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
- Ah. I have 4 images of German press coverage of Bayern Munich 1–2 Norwich City (1993) that I have some questions about. Could you create a disposable email address? --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 16:27, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, did one. How can i give it to you? Kante4 (talk) 06:01, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- Great, did two and can't login to either (correct name + pw)... So you might want to ask another one who is not as stupid as i am in making one, sorry. Kante4 (talk) 07:06, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- The Rambling Man, you know how good I am with tech. How easy is it (/ copyright OK?) to upload the images so Kante can see them? --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 07:58, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- Well I received all four images you sent me via email.... The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 08:00, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- I think Kante went to the same tech school as me and is having trouble creating a disposable email account. Can we upload the images somewhere without breaking copyright? --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 09:18, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- Check your mail, i got it working somehow. :D Kante4 (talk) 09:22, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

So here are our questions
edit- We have no information on team selection (or problems) for Bayern going into the match - is that included?
A: Before the first leg, Markus Schupp was suspended after getting a second yellow card, meanwhile Olaf Thon who was injured for six weeks said he was "fit". (84) In the second leg Scholl was available again. (86)
- We presume they expected Bayern to win. Does it state that? What about winning by a big margin?
A: Uli Hoeneß said before the first leg that Norwich were a "absolute Top-team, especially away from home". "Normaly in England it's "fast-fast", but they play more technical" (84) Second leg: They were confident after beating Kaiserslautern 4–0 at the weekend and that they had a chance if they repeated that performance. Bayern said that were more "robust". (86)
- Are there indications that the German press felt that Bayern were arrogant/took Norwich too lightly?
A: Not really, Beckenbauer said before the second leg that "they were better than Norwich and it would be a bit emberassing getting knocked out as the only german team". (86)
- Do they have any other reasons that they blamed the defeat on?
A: Tactical mistakes. Ziege came off when he was good, players playing on the wrong side and Helmer was not helping Sternkopf. And Labbadia was not playing but two counter-attack attackers which the fans did not took lightly, chanting "We want Bruno". And that Norwich had a good tactic, good discipline. After their first goal Norwich played very deep and Bayern was not playing enough on the wings and did not shoot enough. (85)
- Do they provide any nuggets that we're missing from the article, any context from a German perspective?
A. No.
- Do they happen to mention how many matches Bayern were unbeaten in at home against British sides? (TRM thinks it may be 14 but we don't have ideal sourcing)
A: Nothing.
- What was their opinion of the goals?
A: Lucky after mistakes from the Bayern defense, while getting help from behind so he can forus up the pitch. (85)
- Any mention of Bryan Gunn's performance?
A: No.
- What comments do they make about Matthaus' performance, or any other Bayern player picked out?
A: He should have made more on offense. (85)
- Any comments about Bayern's tactics?
A: See above, number 3.
I know, we're asking a lot. Thank you so much. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 09:35, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- Will be answering them as good as i can today/tomorrow. Kante4 (talk) 12:11, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- You utter star, thank you. No mad rush. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 12:25, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
Kante4, if you can, please indicate which of Kicker issues 84 (1st leg preview), 85 (1st leg report), 88 (2nd leg preview) or 89 (2nd leg report) the information is in! --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 15:44, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- That's it and helps hopefully. If you have any more questions, go ahead. Kante4 (talk) 10:49, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
Fantastic, thank you Kante4 --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 15:36, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

editThank you for article improvements in May! - DYK our list of people for whose life I'm thankful enough to improve their articles? - I have a FAC open, one of Monteverdi's exceptional works, in memory of Brian who passed me his collected sources. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:28, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- Don't forget who nominated you Dweller, this guy, right here. You did well, although not as well as when I passed, so don't let it go to your head. And you still can't format a citation. But that's what I'm here for. Keep up the good work my friend, without this odd project, we'd never have shared so much, so if nothing else, for that I'm am truly thankful. Thank you all so much. You're all lovely. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 12:58, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- That's nice, but comments in the FAC would be nicer ;) - TRM did the GA review, and that was before Brian gave me the sources, and I thought he needed the sandbox for something else, and he began, and died. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:42, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for a prompt question. What a motet is, depends on who uses the word, derived from mot which is French for word. It can be used for almost anything sung, with a focus on the words and their interpretation through music. See also here. For concertos/concerti, see also here. Monteverdi wrote concerto, - I don't know what a musicologist had in mind when making it motet. Certainly not Motet (Bach) ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:48, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- today a composer pictured who wrote a triple concerto for violin, harp and double bass, in honour of the composer who died and my brother who plays double bass. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:16, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

I have nominated West Indian cricket team in England in 1988 for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Harrias talk 10:16, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
Still competent
editHi, see User_talk:Master_Jay#My_song,_"Tools". You restored the admin stuff a while ago. - Sitush (talk) 14:26, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Sitush. Thanks for the message. I'm not sure what you're asking me, or who you refer to as being "still competent". --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 14:33, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) In hindsight, probably not the best example of
a living manifestation of the old-fashioned values my signature aims to encourage
. The comments made there seem to be foul of all the pledges. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 14:35, 29 July 2020 (UTC)- You're puzzling me too. As Sitush hasn't signed up for the Old Fashioned Values, you must be talking to me, but I've not contributed there. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 14:39, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, bad attempt at humour I suppose. It was a light-hearted comment based on a comment you left on Jay's talk page in 2019 after resysopping, which perhaps it didn't age well in light of the aspersions made at the link Sitush left. Nothing directed at either of you. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 15:11, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- Ah. I get it. No, that section has a lot of stuff in it that isn't in accordance with the values, sadly. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 15:59, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- I missed out a question mark, sorry. - Sitush (talk) 15:34, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- I hope I am still competent. I mess up from time to time. Crats are chosen for being level-headed, undramatic and strictly adhering to policy, as they understand it. We sometimes find it hard to interpret policy because it too is imperfect. If you think I'm no longer competent, please tell me how to improve, as you'll find me a listener. But I may be slow to respond for the next while. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 16:02, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- Sitush, you have devoted an unhealthy amount of energy on me and me alone regarding the re-sysoping you disagreed with 18 months ago. It started with you commenting on an unnamed troll post on my talk page, out of the blue. You continued to comment on it. You proactively introduced my name at a recent re-sysop request, and continued to hound me on my talk page. I have never initiated any contact with you, and am only responding to the animus you have induced. Rather than continuing the discussions (which you initiated) on my talk page recently, you have made your rounds to back-talk on other members pages. You disagreed with my re-sysoping. It is noted. But you have continued to single me out for your attention on this matter, which is not productive. If you have something constructive to add to one policy that you disagree with, pursue that policy change. That is far more productive than this sustained personal obsession you have with my existence. I kindly ask that rather than going from page to page, creating many threads, you leave all comments on either my talk page or your talk page. --Jay(Talk) 18:32, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

I like today's Main page, with the TFA (thank you for your FAC comments!) on the anniversary day (of both dedication and our concert), a DYK, and a great photographer who didn't make it soon enough, Jürgen Schadeberg, - more on my talk, mostly about the tribute to Brian who shared his sources. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:41, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
