Welcome Message

I got the following message on my Talk page from you "Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you." Is this a standard message or have I said something to offend? Dispute over a Stephen King short story

Hi, as a long-time hardworking editor of all things Stephen King-related, I wanted to bring to your attention a dispute going on right now over the notability of "Harvey's Dream", a short story in King's newest collection. I'm maintaining that each piece of writing by such a major writer is notable in and of itself, in addition to the fact we have navigation templates for every King collection with articles for every collected piece, yet I seem to be the only one voicing this opinion. I was wondering what you though about this? Jmj713 (talk) 16:00, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Happy editing! I don't know if you, or people who edited after you did it, but there are at least two whole sentences copied, and probably a bunch more from the other sources. I've some substantive objections to set out later, but in the meanwhile I've to remind you that you might have been a bit more decorous here, choosing not to template CG, who has been here for more than four years. 68.248.233.93 (talk) 17:29, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

You have to look in the edit history, because the copyvio tag hides the copyrighted section. I'll try to find a diff for you.Drew Smith What I've done 02:56, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Ah, here it is. [2]. There are at least two sentences taken straight from the URL provided. I don't really have time to check the rest, as I am getting married soon, but I'm sure there are more. Seeing as you've apparently been here four years, I have no doubt the version you originally posted isn't copyrighted, but somewhere along the line someone added copyrighted material.Drew Smith What I've done 03:00, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

IP problems

Hi Ghostface, a while ago you left a "final warning" here, User talk:75.33.204.197. This IP is constantly messing up one page, Daeg Faerch, a boy actor. If you'll look at the article's history you'll see a long string of edits which, by now, are getting pretty disruptive (and I'm about to lose patience). I had tried to make that article a bit more decent, and User:MichaelQSchmidt contributed a filmography (a work in progress, but still), and this one IP insists on changing things around, adding unverified information, trivia, duplicate information, changing headings, etc. Consider keeping an eye on them. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 15:31, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Do you still...

...involve yourself in saw stuff? I was just browsing by and came back across the List of Saw Characters and was wondering what you thought of doing something like this.

Amanda Young

  • Amanda Young was portrayed by Shawnee Smith.
  • Appears in: Saw, Saw II, Saw III

Amanda was a heroin addict who John met at a hospital, and subsequently became one of his first victims. She survived her test and proceeded to become

Not bolded obviously but I thought itd help identify where they come into the films without getting into sectioning which just goes south where they appear in multiple installments. It could probably do with some pruning anyway, at some point there are just characters on there who are completely irrelevant and have no need to be listed like 'Crime Scene Photographer'.Darkwarriorblake (talk) 22:43, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry it probably does look a little confusing. What I meant was what did yhou think of adding something like this:

  • Appears in: Saw, Saw II, Saw III

Under character entries in the list, saves it being divided into sections which causes conflicts where characters appear in multiple movies. And yeah, pruning, I might do it if I can find the energy just to get rid of those non essentials.Darkwarriorblake (talk) 23:07, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Saw

I hope you don't mind but took it upon myself to create a new Saw newsletter, (found here) in order to respark life back into the neglected Wikiproject. I'm going to send it out on Sep 5 unless you have any objections. Let me know your thoughts on it, Thanks, GroundZ3R0 002 (talk) 07:18, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

WikiProject Saw September 2009 Newsletter

The WikiProject Saw Newsletter
Issue V - September 2009
Member news
  • The project has currently 31 members, a mere 2 member growth over last year :( encourage new members!
From the Members

Welcome to the fifth issue of the WikiProject Saw's newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.

It happens once a year... the Friday before Halloween... yes, the sixth Saw is less than a month away from release. Seeing as there is already a director and writers attached (See Here), VI will most likely not be the final entry to the series. Saw VI will be released in theaters on October 23rd.

Also, a Saw first, a video game is coming to join the Saw family. Not based on any movie in particular, the game has an original story set between the first and second Saw films. The game will release alongside Saw VI in October.

We would encourage all members to get more involved and if you are wondering what with, please ask either user CyberGhostface or user GroundZ3R0 002, they are more than happy to direct your help into any part of Saw that needs it.

Article News
  • The Saw (video game) article has reached a 'C' class on the quality scale for all Wikiprojects that has it in their scope. A new high for upcoming Saw products and upcoming video games in general.
  • Saw VI has received an official plot synopsis which has been incorporated in the article.
  • The amount of articles in the scope Wikiproject Saw has greatly increased from roughly 23 (active) articles to 40, almost double in one year!
Pages Needing Cleanup
  • Seeing as how we lost List of traps in the Saw film series, we must form together to prevent the other articles getting the same treatment.
  • All real-life actors or directors associated with Saw (James Wan, Tim Palen, Tobin Bell) could use an overhaul to avoid "in-universe" writing perspectives.
  • Saw VI could always use formatting updates and touch-ups to grammar, punctuation, etc.
Monthly Collaboration
  • Not a big surprise, we need to focus on getting the Saw VI article up to par with the rest of the articles. Obviously because it has not been released, it won't be possible to make it as good as the other film articles, but it could still be improved. Try to make its article in the same format (Plot, Cast, Production, Promotion, etc.) as the other films for a start.
Newsletter Challenge
  • Update all Saw articles to include updated information referencing other Saw articles. For example, update the Saw (2004 film) article section on the Saw game for updated release and info.
  • Create an "Impact In Popular Culture" section on Saw articles, seeing as how it is the highest grossing horror franchise in history (before and after inflation).
  • As noted above, the Saw Wikiproject has only grown by two members in an entire calendar year. So, invite new members, show them the ways, and let them know how they can help.
  • The Saw Wikiproject has encountered a drought as far as updates and new information goes. Keep adding new Saw articles as they go along, give new information, and keep the page going in general.

Saw

Hello there, I noticed you are a member of the Saw task force, and therefore have foreknowledge of the Saw series, making you an editor with qualifications to review an article under the scope of Saw. I hope am I not bothering your editing, but I would like to bring to your attention that List of Saw media is currently being reviewed for a possible featured list status, but there is currently a major backlog in the amount of articles waiting to be reviewed. I would like to encourage you to participate in the discussion, found here, if you are interested. If you believe I am disrupting your editing or that my message was an attempt to sway your opinions per WP:Canvas, please let me know so I may fix my methods of bringing this conversation to editors attention, I am simply trying to prevent a backlog on the WP:FLC page. Happy edits, GroundZ3R0 002 (talk) 05:41, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I was wondering if you still have interest in the Saw articles (Saw VI, Saw 3D, the video games, etc)? I noticed you did a lot of work on the the older Saw's. Mike Allen 07:14, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Leatherface

It was a discussion started about 2 years ago. The main reason for the change was because the last image was just a close-up of his face and it was suggested that we needed something that showed more of him as a character (and if possible include his signature weapon). It just happened that there really are not any available images from the first film that either show him they way he should be, or when they did were of any quality that we could use. On the talk page I had like 3 images up for suggestion, and two of them were from the remake. The newer films always have better promo shots that show the characters better. It was just a matter of eeny-meeny-miney-moe because none of the images drew lots of dislike. It was all, "whichever's best" basically. It's not set in stone, but I find it better than the last one and better than any image coming from the original film.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:56, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

The Human Centipede (First Sequence) is currently a featured article candidate

Hi there, thanks for all the helpful edits you have contributed to The Human Centipede article, I thought I'd let you know that the article is currently a featured article candidate!

At the moment I'm trying my best to make positive changes to the article based upon the comments and suggestions on the article review, but any help with this would really be appreciated. The featured article review is here and if you have any spare time it would be really cool if you could have a look at the comments and help make sure the article is meeting the standards that are asked of a featured article. Plus if there's anything you think you can do to help improve the article, or anything important that it's missing, please do go ahead and make the changes!

Thanks for all your help with the article. cya Coolug (talk) 19:44, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Congratulations on receiving the Dr. Heiter Award!

For your contributions to The Human Centipede (First Sequence) I present you with the Dr. Heiter Award. "Feed!"

Hi there, thank you for your contributions to The Human Centipede (First Sequence). When the article was first started in October 2009 is was but a tiny stub that was immediately tagged for deletion, but thanks to the efforts of wikipedia editors that tiny acorn has grown into a great oak tree of an article. The Human Centipede (First Sequence) is now a Featured Article and on the 17th June 2010 the article received its 1,000,000th page view! The article routinely receives over five thousand views a day and is in the top 1,000 most viewed Wikipedia articles!

On Halloween 2011, the article was the Main Page Featured Article!

The Dr. Heiter Award was created to reward editors who have made positive contributions to the article. It can be presented by any wikipedia user to anyone who has helped the article grow. This might be by adding new content, fixing any errors or reverting vandalism.

Thanks! Feed!

Just wanted to say thanks for the support through this whole thing. It's much appreciated!

I think the article is indeed FA worthy. Best of luck with that, and happy new year. Treybien 31 December 2011 14:22 (UTC)

Randall Flagg

One of the biggest things you will get hit on is not having any section that discusses the character's reception in literature and/or film. Any reviewer would probably argue that the page is not "comprehensive" without it. Then you're going to have to becareful of the non-free images. That's quite a bit of non-free images just to show different looks of the character. You need to ask, "If I did not have them, would the reader suffer any?" I haven't read the article in a long while, so I don't know the quality of the information or writing, but those are probably the biggest issues you will run into at a FAC.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 19:29, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

I just opposed your nomination, which I hope you don't take personally. I see that, going back to the first nom, you have been trying to get this to FA status for the better part of five years. Thank you for all the work you've put in. Once the content has been augmented to be comprehensive, I would be happy to copyedit the article for you before you bring it back to FAC. Just ping me. --Laser brain (talk) 22:09, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
It's been a while, but I don't recall RF being mentioned in The Dark Tower series by name. At any rate, you should provide an inline citation to a secondary source (such as Furth) when making the statement that Walter=Flagg. My overall suggestion, though, is that you devote a section in the article to discussing the literary discussion of identities that Flagg assumes in King's work. Some of them King admits to, and some of them are speculation in the fan community. Scholarly works have almost certainly be written about the topic. --Laser brain (talk) 23:59, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
Oh, thanks for the links. Clearly it's time for another re-read on my end. Well, if it's stated that explicitly in the text, it probably doesn't need a secondary source. --Laser brain (talk) 00:18, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Your question

Well, first let me way that I am humbled that you would ask my opinion. So, I have a couple questions to give you a full answer. What article do you want to use them in? Looking at it might make a difference in my answer. Second, do you have a sandbox to play with them in? I ask because I like pic 2 on face value because of the dawn/dusk feel of it - and they are both looking at the camera. But after you have worked with them - cropping etc - I might have other thoughts. If this extra work would be a hassle don't worry about it and you can use my recommendation as is - until 20 other editors write you to say "how could you possibly choose that pic?" :-). Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 06:14, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

This also has given me a chance to see your userpage and I wanna say I too think Lost is great. I hope that you are looking forward to the second season of Game of Thrones (although if you've been with the books for years I know the TV version might not be as fun as what your imagination has created). I think that you might enjoy the British version of Life on Mars. It constantly plays with one's perception of the story you think you are seeing. Of course, you might have seen it and not liked it and that might cause you to doubt my opinion of anything!! :-)) Thanks again. MarnetteD | Talk 06:14, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the link. Things look good on that article. With the size reduction necessary to fit in the infobox I think that is the better pic as their faces are more distinct. Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon and Miles Morales

Which article, and which passage in the article, is your question in reference to? Nightscream (talk) 18:23, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Okay. In answer to your question, I'd say that that passage clarifies that the topic of the Morales article has nothing to do with the topic of the cartoon article, as they both have the same name. This clarifies for the uninitiated, who may come across the article(s) that the two have little to do with one another. Nightscream (talk) 19:11, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
