Articles for deletion nomination of Midnight Radio and Television

I have nominated Midnight Radio and Television, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Midnight Radio and Television. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. -- Boing! said Zebedee 20:58, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Over the Hills and Far Away (song)

  • Hello. You moved Over the Hills and Far Away (song) as an uncontroversial WP:RM request, but I had moved the request to Contested and notified the requester. Can you please move the article back and begin a Move Request discussion if you wish? Thanks. Station1 (talk) 18:42, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
  • It seems that you changed this request from uncontroversial to controversial, while I was obeying the uncontroversial move. I have put in Talk:Over the Hills and Far Away (Led Zeppelin song) a controversial-type discussion request for this reverse move. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:13, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Discussion about the deletion of empty categories

There is a discussion about an "empty" category, you deleted here - User_talk:Nyttend#Deleting_empty_categories

I think you should bear in mind that some categories are "empty", mainly because certain individuals have been emptying them, arguably a form of vandalism. There appears to be no safeguard against this.

There was a long discussion about renaming the category - Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2009_October_1#Category:Israeli_Fascists - but it was emptyed DELIBERATELY, because of people wishing to airbrush a particular aspect of their past.--MacRusgail (talk) 16:17, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Elizabeth II

Anthony, there was a spelling error in your posting of the closure message in the archive of the vote in March on the EII discussion page. As an admin who gets bugged by spelling errors I went in to correct it. Nothing else was changed. I hope you don't mind. (BTW Glad to see my idea of archiving votes, etc, proposed many years ago, is still going strong. It was a hell of a battle to get people to accept the idea of keeping records at the time.) I'm not sure "uncontroversial" is quote the correct term for the movement of the user subpage content into Light tank given that the overall outcome of discussion was no consensus for move. GraemeLeggett (talk) 21:20, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

File copyright problem with an image

Thank you for uploading File:Aa Manchester,UK ash fallout from Eyjafjallajökull 00.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. AzaToth 19:48, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Aa 09a nasasuit flagfound.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Aa 09a nasasuit flagfound.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Reinstating protections

Hi, could you I offer a little reminder that you need to reinstate any protections on an article if you delete them for histmerges or the like. Newman/Haas

  • Is there some reason you moved Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing to Newman/Haas Racing? The editors were arguing based off unverified speculation and they knew it. The move was completely in violation of Wikipedia policies. EeepEeep (talk) 23:56, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

  • While the issue has become controversial, it's been in discussion for well over a week without any movement by any of the parties involved-do you think you can take a look at it and do some admin-type things? Or at the very least, make it more widely known? I don't really know much about the page moving process... Bduddy (talk) 06:02, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
  • There's really no debate here. The advocates of the page move have been unable to produce a single piece of verifiable evidence to support their proposal, so it has to stay where it is. That's all there is to it. EeepEeep (talk) 08:27, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Poojah

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Poojah. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Poojah. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

Re this edit - when writing on railway topics, we normally wikilink to stations and not places, but Battersea Park railway station was already linked earlier on, so I've removed your link to Battersea Park. As for Pouparts Junction - I've left the link alone, because there never has been a station of that name; but on the linked article I've added a map, moved it to a more specific stub ({{UK-rail-stub}} instead of {{transport-stub}}), and also added {{TrainsWikiProject}} to it's talk page. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:24, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Histmerge help

Hi. I need an admin to move a partial history into a cut and paste article due to housekeeping several bad moves. I wasn't sure if listing it with db-histmerge would solve the problem because it only involves a partial edit history. The current article is located at Kaupulehu, Hawaii. There is a missing series of eight consecutive edits from the page history which occurred between 17:00, 21 May 2010 - 19:57, 21 May 2010, and were made by a single editor, W Nowicki. You can find all eight edits here:

  1. (cur | prev) 19:57, 21 May 2010 W Nowicki (talk | contribs) (7,116 bytes) (lava flow and crater) (undo)
  2. (cur | prev) 18:58, 21 May 2010 W Nowicki (talk | contribs) (6,257 bytes) (even less advertising and more citations) (undo)
  3. (cur | prev) 18:43, 21 May 2010 W Nowicki (talk | contribs) (6,154 bytes) (describe access, citation) (undo)
  4. (cur | prev) 18:29, 21 May 2010 W Nowicki (talk | contribs) (5,895 bytes) (correct perp, more link auditing) (undo)
  5. (cur | prev) 18:21, 21 May 2010 W Nowicki (talk | contribs) (5,876 bytes) (derrive name from usual place name source) (undo)
  6. (cur | prev) 17:49, 21 May 2010 W Nowicki (talk | contribs) m (5,355 bytes) (moved Four Seasons Resort Hualalai to Kaupulehu, Hawaii: The resort is only one notable thing at this location, so use location as title, not Hotel name) (undo)
  7. (cur | prev) 17:48, 21 May 2010 W Nowicki (talk | contribs) (5,355 bytes) (add some history) (undo)
  8. (cur | prev) 17:00, 21 May 2010 W Nowicki (talk | contribs) (2,662 bytes) (remove some blatant advertising that was in there for far too long) (undo)

Can you merge those eight edits (and anything after it, but not before it) into the new page history of Kaupulehu, Hawaii, or anything that should be merged? I want to maintain the old page history of the redirect (Four Seasons Resort Hualalai). If you don't think the old edit history should be moved, that's fine. Viriditas (talk) 22:14, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

  • The whole history of Four Seasons Resort Hualalai (except the last 4 or 5 edits) should be histmerged into Kaupulehu, Hawaii, as it is a continuous history. Sometimes an article on one topic does gradually evolve into an article on another topic. This happened with a set of articles on the subject "black sheep" and similar.
I suspect that this histmerge is impossible, anyway, because page Kaupulehu, Hawaii is stored on http://en.wikipedia.org/ and Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is stored on https://secure.wikimedia.org . Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:17, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is now back on http://en.wikipedia.org . Some Wikimedia system glitch? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:39, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the reply. I don't want the history of FSRH to be merged into Kaupulehu, as the page move should not have occurred in the first place. The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is a separate topic from Kaupulehu that can be expanded and was kept as part of an AfD that occurred in 2009. After withdrawing the nom due to a snow keep, the OP began the process of arguing that the article wasn't notable, and another eventually agreed to merge to Kaupulehu, but the article was moved instead of simply redirected to the new topic. I've made a few comments over at Talk:Four Seasons Resort Hualalai and I may restore the article depending on whether or not I have time to do the research and add the references. So, the history should be separate anyway. Viriditas (talk) 05:29, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
  • Update: I'm working on User:Viriditas/Four Seasons Resort Hualalai in my userspace, so I do plan on copying this over to the redirect when I'm done. The redirect has the current history of the Hualalai page. Viriditas (talk) 20:41, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Question about page move

I'm trying to get active in the move process, as a result of stumbling across Category:Requests to move a userspace draft. However, I haven't been active at WP:RM, so I don't quite know how that page works. (I see a list of requests, which I take to be open requests, is there a log of completed requests)?

My particular question relates to this move

I'll first note that Wikipedia has manged to create a need for a process, by creating the {{move draft}} template, but if someone has articualted process, I haven't seen it. As a consequence, I'm making it up on the fly. In short, I review the request, if the article meets a very low hurdle, I move it, but if it is seriously deficient, I decline the move an post specific suggestions for improvement on the editor's talk page.

In my view, an article with no references should not be moved.

In addition WP:RM explicitly notes:

1 Processes beyond the scope of this page

Separate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves: ...

  • Moves from User space - (new/unconfirmed users only) add {{move draft}} to the top of the article.

So I am puzzled that it was handled at WP:RM

Don't get me wrong, I'm struggling to clear the backlog at Category:Requests to move a userspace draft, and would love some help, but I'd like to see us put together a coherent process.

Any thoughts?--SPhilbrickT 13:00, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Problems with a disruptive rollbacker

Hi! I would like to evidence you the continuous rollbacks by user:Colin Gleen of my wikification of Ferrol. My editings consisted in adding a standard infobox, removing all POV parts, purging some sections which had no role in an encyclopedia, and other format adds. The article is now decent and in the same path of most other Spanish cities ones, while this guy continues to restore his versions full of errors, unsourced statements, questions, unencyclopedical details etc. Thanks and good work. --'''Attilios''' (talk) 12:40, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Ciao! It seems that user:Colin Gleen is now using a sockpuppet identity, user:Michael Peer, to restore his horrendous, antiwikipedic version of Ferrol. Can you stop him? By the way, this user is easily recognizable for he's dedicating himself only to Ferrol, with articles full of useful stuff but full of POV and amateurish digressions (for example, in an article about a journal published in that Spanish city, 75% of the text spoke about Ferrol's economic crisis...). Let me know and thanks in advance for help... --'''Attilios''' (talk) 13:13, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
I would notice that user:Colin Gleen is keeping reverting Ferrol, Spain to his horrendous, unwikipedic version, now using another sockpuppet (see Ferrol:History for the new one). Is there any chance to block this crazy guy? Thanks and good work. --'''Attilios''' (talk) 09:18, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Check what he wrote in my talk page with his new sockpuppet identity, user:Gladys Tuffnell. --'''Attilios''' (talk) 20:47, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Bi Rain and Park Kahi

  • Per your recent moves of those two pages: I think you should have proceeded with a bit more caution. Both of those moves have been the subjects of recent discussions (see User talk:EunSoo and User talk:SKS2K6), and are definitely not non-controversial, per WP:COMMONNAME. I think they should be moved back pending a proper move discussion. Regards--ShelfSkewed Talk 06:14, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
  • SKS and I are still in discussion but the common naming is not only the issue but the adaption to Wikipedia as well. Also SKS suggested that I make the Request for Moves on both pages and that is what I have done. EunSoo (talk) 06:15, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
  • "Still in discussion" is the relevant point. The moves should not have been listed or made as uncontroversial.--ShelfSkewed Talk 06:19, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
  • This move was not only a bad idea, but what you basically did is rename the article "Rain Rain". "Bi" means "rain" in Korean. And then Anthony even went as far as go through the the article and say that he goes by "Bi Rain", which he doesn't. This should have been discussed extensively on the article's talk page before taking action. Groink (talk) 06:23, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Yes but SKS was the one who gave me the idea of putting in the request and the discussion is on our talk page and not on the musicians talk page, between the 2 of us, thus it doesn't count. EunSoo (talk) 06:23, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
  • I have moved them back to Rain (entertainer) and Kahi (entertainer). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:27, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Page moves

Good work

Anthony, please allow me to compliment you on how you've handled this recent page-move foofaraw. You were actually more helpful than the rest of us to a new user who doesn't yet understand the ins and outs of Wikipedia. I know we've had some differences of opinion here and there, but I've always noticed and admired the great volume of good work you do (including and especially dealing with all the messes that crop up on the cut-and-paste-move page). I don't know if you are scholar, but you are certainly a gentleman. Give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back. Regards--ShelfSkewed Talk 14:55, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Never on Tuesday

  • The page you moved was created to sidestep a block. Never on Tuesday was changed to a permanent redirect in 2009, after it was recreated several times post AfD. The page still has no significant content. Would you please return it to the protected redirect for Brett Ratliff? Horrorshowj (talk) 06:39, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
  • But what is the connection between Brett Ratliff (an American football quarterback born on 8 August 1985) and Never on Tuesday (a film made in 1998 when Brett Ratliff was age 12 or 13)? Page Never on Tuesday never mentions Brett Ratliff. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 13:40, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
  • I have no idea. Adam Rifkin, the films director was the redirect. Wow that one is embarrassing.13:42, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Top Gear

  • Please can you move Top Gear back to Top Gear (disambiguation), this is a controversial move and should not have been made without a standard RM discussion, there certainly wasn't one highlighted on any of the relevant talk pages. The person requesting the move should be informed of the process for starting a discussion on controversial moves. There are masses of links now broken throughout the encyclopaedia because of this careless request. Thanks for your time. Jeni (talk) 22:31, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Never mind, I guess you've gone to bed, I've put a temporary fix in awaiting another admin to come along and make the final step. Jeni (talk) 22:50, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Un/Controversial moves

  • Hey. I know you've been moving pages at the request of User:EunSoo, but please be advised that these page moves are controversial as they go against both consensus and established Wikipedia guidelines. For example, Jessica Jung should not be at Jessica Jung, as she goes by simply "Jessica" in her professional life. Her surname, although correct, should not be included in the page name.
His controversial moves, listed at the talk pages of both Talk:Rain (entertainer) and Talk:Kahi (entertainer) have shown that the user's moves are indeed controversial. However, the user continues to move, or ask to move, pages regardless of other editors' comments.
So I guess my request is, could you please undo the move so that it can be properly discussed on the talk page? Thanks in advance.  :) SKS (talk) 23:05, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Hold on a sec. SKS are you basing this on my history of moves. So because I submitted a couple of moves you disagree with you suddenly think that my moves are negative. It is quite clear that Jessica is not only called Jessica but also Jessica Jung. You see this is what I am referring to so because someone is called Jessica that means it should be Jessica (entertainer) that makes no sense, espacially when she is also popluarliy known as Jessica Jung. Why would you add her job title at the end of her name when you already have a page with her second most popluar name (as a redirect)?? EunSoo (talk) 03:02, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
  • To User:SKS2K6: Please which move is "the move"? Which page do you want me to move to where? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:18, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Wait a sec Anthony is that even allowed? Do the rules say that an article can't have the subjects last name in it? Cause I don't see it in the rules. If so explain to me why Im Yoona is not Yoona or Yoona (entertainer) because this is actually getting me angry now. Since Anthony is the mover then we need his opinion on this because if it was against the rules then Anthony wouldn't have moved it and just set it out for discussion. Not every article move needs to be based consensus. And this is a prime example that because Wikipedia already has a perfectly good title for her and it is being used as a redirect page. EunSoo (talk) 07:09, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
  • In 11-13 November 2009 there were moves back and forth between Im Yoona and YoonA. (Here, 'Im' is not 'I am' but a Korean surname.) Anthony Appleyard (talk) 10:00, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Am I breaking any rules cause I have read the disambig. page a few times and I don't understand why I am being opposed?? If Im Yoona is fine then what's wrong with Jessica Jung? EunSoo (talk) 10:11, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Im Yoona was decided after some discussion because the page was created some time before the rest of the Girls' Generation solo pages, when Yoona was more notable than the rest of the members due to her acting. I believe she is credited under "Im Yoona" for dramas (this is in Korean, but see this news article. As such, Im Yoona makes sense. Jessica Jung doesn't make sense according to Wikipedia naming conventions, because she goes by her first name "Jessica" professionally in all that she does. (Probably because there are no other Jessicas in South Korean entertainment.) Therefore, it doesn't make sense to add her surname to the page name. EunSoo, I know that you're having serious issues with the way Wikipedia names pages, but all the pages are (well, were) at their current locations for good reasons. SKS (talk) 14:19, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
  • That's just it doesn't makes sense because:
  1. The rules don't say you can't use the surname
  2. She is also called Jessica Jung and if not then why is it in her article
  3. Jessica is already taken, thus Jessica Jung is another alternative.

EunSoo (talk) 17:02, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Hi Anthony. I haven't been very involved in this controversy, but it seems from reading the talk pages for EunSoo's various moves that he/she doesn't understand WP's naming and disambiguation policies and keeps initiating moves in spite of opposition and patient explanation by a diverse chorus of editors. I hope that EunSoo can be persuaded to start properly characterizing his/her moves as potentially controversial rather than sneaking them in as uncontroversial; in the mean time, is there a way to implement some sort of administrative moratorium on his/her move requests? Apologies to any parties involved if I haven't learned the full story from my reading of the material on various talk pages and am misrepresenting anything. --Atemperman (talk) 19:40, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Sefa

A tag has been placed on Sefa requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Infinity chat

Hi Antonoy, I have removed the chat-section about "Limited infinity" which anon user 213.158.199.137 inserted to the talk page for the 3rd time now, and to which you kindly helped correctly formulating the intended equations. I hope you don't mind my removal of the section again, as this is clearly a case of WP:FORUM. I have left a 3rd level user warning on the anon's talk page. Masonic temple (disambiguation) move

In this edit you implemented a requested move. I had requested exactly that. However, there has been much discussion, and I agreed with a different proposal that it should be moved to "Masonic Temple" instead. Your move did not close the discussion or resolve the issues there. Could you revisit and comment in the discussion section please. It is confusing to me and to others, that it appears a capital A Administrator has visited and rendered judgement, when clearly it is not resolved by any consensus. Your acknowledging that it is not resolved (and perhaps that you should not have implemented the move yet) would be appreciated. --doncram (talk) 15:34, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Vektor

  • I noticed you moved Vektor less than 24 hours after a move request was started, despite opposition. I'm not sure why that was necessary. As you know, move requests are usually open for about 7 days to allow time for editors to develop consensus. While I would have no problem with a move if there is consensus, I am surprised at your rush. Would you please consider undoing this move and reopening the discussion? The dab page can be moved to Vektor (disambiguation) in the meantime if you like. Station1 (talk) 22:09, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Okan

  • I think I may have got myself in a muddle here, putting the wrong thing in the {{db-move}}! What I meant to end up with was: Okan for the article about the Go competition, and Okan (disambiguation) for the dab page. A previous editor had moved the Go comp to a disambiguated heading, without updating any of the incoming links; none of the items on the dab page are uses of "Okan" alone (mostly they are people with it as given name), so I think the Go comp should revert to being at Okan. Can you help sort it out? Sorry for any confusion. PamD (talk) 20:30, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
  • That depends on whether the Go competition is the dominant meaning of "Okan". Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:47, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Well, it's the only entity called "Okan", which I thought made it clear. But I'll back off - and have amended the template which generated most of the incoming links which the previous editor didn't bother to update. PamD (talk) 06:49, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Should a dab page be given categories such as Category:Turkish masculine given names? I don't think so, another editor does! I think the category would only be appropriate for a page about the name, which this dab page is not. PamD (talk) 06:52, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Qamdo (town)

  • Hi Anthony. Can I ask for your help in sorting out a move that you were previously involved in as administrator. Qamdo (town) is clearly the primary use of Qamdo (the prefecture and county are named after their capitals, which are the town). I have moved the existing page, a disambiguation page, to Qamdo (disambiguation), but admin help is required to move the town article to Qamdo. There really is no need for the (town), which is generally deprecated for placenames. I have updated the hatnote on the town article in preparation.
