Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, 214.3.138.230. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted.
⚠️ Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest guidelines, before you edit any articles related to the United States military or government. Thank you

  Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, and ideas—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. 2602:302:D89:A9C9:5DFF:2E39:8337:2C8E (talk) 15:50, 13 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution edit

  Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Big Head Todd and the Monsters into Boom Boom (John Lee Hooker song). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 13:17, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

  Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

P.S. You have very curious comments considering that you are a government employee. Liz Read! Talk! 23:44, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Apologize if we broke a Wikipedia rule. We’re at a military facility and saw Gen Henry’s bio on there was pretty skimpy. We knew his official USMC bio was a publicly available document with no copyright. It is inside “dot mil” domain to prevent vandalism, but is provided to anyone who asks for it in PDF, so we pointed to both the “dot mil” site and an example of a site that had reprinted it, then we noted that in the comments box. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 214.3.138.230 (talk) 11:21, 9 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
