Pertuis is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France.

Located south of the Luberon, this town is also near Aix-en-Provence, a famous town. Pertuis has existed since at least 981, while a castle was first built in the 12th century. It has registered significant population growth in the last 50 years, with a threefold increase during this period.

It is bordered on the south by the Durance, which after having served as a boundary between the County of Provence and Forcalquier County, is now a boundary between the departments of Vaucluse and Bouches-du-Rhône.

Due to its geographical position, Pertuis has always been, over the centuries a strategic position between mountain and sea town has the distinction of being part of a conurbation inter-departmental. It is the capital of the Pays d'Aygues and now it becomes a very important business hub for south-east of the department.

The territory of the Luberon Regional Park

At the heart of Provence, along the valley of the Durance and the gates of Luberon, Pertuis is located in Aygues countries, it is the capital. It is situated about twenty miles north of Aix-en-Provence and came from the 1 in the Community of the Pays d'Aix [1], creating a community of inter-departmental communication. Due to its geographical position, Pertuis or "pertus" in Latin meaning "hole" within the meaning of "transition" has always been a crossroads of communication between the sea and mountains. The town is one of the seventy-seven members of the Luberon Regional Park.

Geology and Relief edit

At the end of the south-east, on the banks of the Durance, the soil is composed of urgonian limestone and marl Neocomian. In addition, between Pertuis Road and Mirabeau and the Durance is a layer of red clay marl alternating with pudding. To the west, the land covers the marine sandstone on which the city is built. The territory of the municipality has an area of ​​6,623 hectares (16,370 acres), which 1,150 hectares (2,800 acres) are irrigable. It consists of a plain about 2,000 hectares (4,900 acres) very fertile, surrounded by Durance over a length of 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) and protected from flooding by nine major dikes. Its maximum width is 3 kilometres (1.9 mi).

The remaining land includes from west to east hill Chanaud (333 metres (1,093 ft) altitude) and the narrow valley of the Eze until Viader, between the hills of St. Joseph and St. John on the right bank and Saint-Roch, Saint Sepulchre and Pivoulier left bank. Then there is the least fertile valley of the Ébrette Vallat and Galance. Finally there are the hills of Loubière and Defense.

Resembling a plateau near the Durance, the slope is more pronounced at the edge of town. Pertuis is situated on the foothills of the Luberon Massif, as evidenced by the hills north-west and those dying from the village since Bastidonne to the east. When coming from the south by Aix-en-Provence shortly after Venelles, Pertuis can see below, nestled in the heart of the valley Aygues, and just behind, behind the scenes, steep slopes and still bright (south side) of Luberon Massif, dominated by the Mourre Negro rising to 1,125 metres (3,691 ft).

The Eze through the town in the northeast / southwest direction and then converge with the Durance which passes the southern edge of the town, in the town Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade [5]. Climate edit

Pertuis enjoys a Mediterranean climate of interior. Continental influences are felt in winter (7 °C (45 °F) mean temperature in January). The temperature variability is important in the winter and shoulder seasons, when midlatitude across France, but it is low in summer, as an anticyclone parking and guarantees a dry and stable. Summers are hot (average temperature of 24 °C (75 °F)), with some thunderstorms, sometimes very violent. Maximum temperatures often exceed 35 °C (95 °F) in the summer, even with spikes beyond 40 °C (104 °F) during heat waves, as in July 1983 [11].

At the junction of several roads, Pertuis is on the itinerary of many transits. The provincial road 973 for the traveler who comes to Avignon or Cavaillon and who will go to the Alps, through the town along an east West. Durance Bridge edit

The Vaucluse is separated from Bouches-du-Rhône by the Durance, we need a bridge to replace theboatto cross the Durance River. This boat, which over time turned into tray with a toll that was shared by the Lords of Pertuis and Meyrargues [13] .

Like many cities that have experienced rapid growth, Pertuis accused of serious traffic problems in downtown and the main entrances of the town.

Parking, high-capacity built below the city center and the establishment of a zone limited to 30 kilometres per hour (19 mph) should encourage users not to circulate in the center. Ultimately, it comes to banning this area to traffic.

Toponymy edit

The oldest form is'Pertusum, attested in 981. In Provence, the town is calledPertusby classical norm orPertusby Mistralian norm. These names refer to the Low Latin pertusium'which means an opening, a passage [29].

Remnants of the Neolithic were found at stations and bus shelters Gargarella. Three mound located in the area of ​​Agnels, the district Mouriéras and Three-quarters were searched. This pillar, which has been halved, is kept at the Chateau Val Joanis [b 1].

The origin of Pertuis is set by some historians to the year 94 BC when the Romans established trade relations with the inhabitants there and opened a counter [32]< group ref = "c"> p 8. </ref>.

After the fall of the Roman Empire, and until the establishment of feudalism, passed five centuries marked by the invasions of Burgundians of Visigoths and Ostrogoths of France, the Lombards and the raids of the Saracens [33].

Middle Age edit

The territory was placed under pertusien feudal domination by a deed of gift drawn up by Charles Martel to Nébulong, son of his brother Childebrand in 739 [c 1]. His descendant, William I Nébulong in 950, donated it to the Abbey Montmajour [b 1]. This donation was confirmed in 966 by Count Boson notified that aHousePertusum. A priory of Montmajour Abbey is established, this donation is confirmed again in 981 by his son William the Liberator [d 1].

A ferry to cross the Durance is attested from the eleventh century[34], and was one of the busiest [35]: it outshines even neighboring bins of Puy and Meyrargues to fifteenth century [36].

In 1011, the three of William son first Nébulong, aggrieved, burned and pillaged the city, but 1019, on papal injunction, they confirmed the donation to the monks Montmajour in exchange for the lifetime usufruct of half of the castrum'Pertuis. The portus'and'Pertuis naves are cited in 1050 and 1119 in the cartulary of the abbey of St. Victor. This was the case of Calixtus II in 1123, and Innocent III in 1203 [d 2].

But in 1208, William Sabran, having put the hand on the County Forcalquier, took the opportunity to relate to its areas Pertuis. This earned him, in 1212, a double papal sanction. Innocent III, by means of Gui de Fos, Archbishop of Aix and Bertrand Durfort, Bishop of Cavaillon threw the ban on his county and excommunicated [d 2].

William of Pertuis Sabran had therefore surrender, but in 1240, taking advantage of tensions between the emperor Frederick II and Raymond Berenger IV of Provence and Raymond VII of Toulouse, he expelled the monks, seized the ferry and the town [d 2]. An arbitration was again made on 5 [c 2]. She decided that Pertuis now and pay undivided was between William and his successors Abbey Montmajour on condition of homage in the hands of the abbot. In 1246, death of William de Sabran, County Forcalquier no longer existed. His son William of Pertuis and his little son Bertrand des Baux de Pertuis retained the Lordship of Pertuis. The abbot, who was head of the order obtained from Pope Montmajour Alexander IV, by a bull dated 17 March 1258 that churches St. Peter and St. Nicolas were placed under its jurisdiction and that the land cultivated by the monks were not subject to tithe [c 4]. In 1296, Count of Provence Charles II of Anjou, wishing to reconstruct the Count field in its entirety, bought the lordship of Pertuis to Bertrand. This leads to an economic revival and Pertuis, with its weekly market, the establishment of exchange, is renowned for the quality of its trade [d 3]; the 1289, it is donation to the nuns of St. Mary of Nazareth House of almsgiving, which, in Pertuis, was to distribute relief to poor [37].

In 1283 a Charter "allows Jews of Saint-Maximin, Lambesc, Pertuis, Istres, Lancon and Aix-en-Provence to have a synagogue and a cemetery giving annually to the Archbishop of aix two pounds of pepper."[38]. While in 1306, the Jews were expelled from France, the Comte de Provence Charles II of Naples guarantees their rights in their states [39].

But in 1310, the manor was again separated from the county of Provence and alienated Bertrand de Got who kept it until his death in 1325. Robert Wise decided in 1333, it was out of question that a count-king paid tribute to the abbots Montmajour [d 3].

In 1343, the Queen Jeanne, her granddaughter, became Countess of Provence. To thank Clement VI to have washed all suspicion of instigating the murder of her first husband, she bestowed Pertuis, in 1355, the nephew of the pope, William III Roger de Beaufort Vicomte de Turenne [d 3]. He refused to turn, to return any homage to Abbe Montmajour and found that it was the latter who was to return it. A compromise had to be found; Cardinal Anglic of Grimoard decided in 1367, the viscount and the abbot would now be relieved of all stripes. Queen Jeanne approved this sentence on 31 [d 4].

This is the beginning of the dark period in Provence. Armed gangs devastate the region, Pertuis is occupied from 1357 to 1362. From 1384, Marie de Blois tries to reconstruct the field Count, but she faces in Pertuis VIII Raymond de Turenne and his mother, Eleanor de Comminges, Dame Meyrargues for 10 years which will loot, plunder and extort money from the Venaissin County. But the city besieged by the troops of Marshal Boucicault, his son, sent by the King of France, visited June 26 1397 after eighteen days of bombing with gear and bombards [40]. "Raymond de Turenne is among those who customarily wear them right at the tip of their swords and documents in their arms" has justly wrote the novelist Provencal Marie Mauron.

Elzéar Sabran, lord of Ansouis, who had losses during the revolt of Raymond de Turenne, sold the 1 December 1425 whole mountain of Luberon, top to the territory of Cabrières-d'Aigues and La Motte-d'Aigues for the sum of three hundred gold florins [c 5].

To bring reinforcements to Naples, the King René was set up two galleys. On this occasion, the Pertuisiens shed 400 florins in exchange for the exemption, on the whole territory of Provence and County of Forcalquier, tolls and Leiden. This privilege was granted by Letters Patent issued by Queen Isabel de Lorraine on 21 [c 6].

King Rene confirmed the 13 assignments of Cabrières-d'Aigues, La Motte-d'Aigues and Villelaure. Remarried with Jeanne de Laval, and as it loved to Pertuis (which made him a gift of 80 guilders for his wedding), he gave full ownership in the city 26 [c 6]. Lady of Pertuis, in 1474, Jeanne de Laval authorized to hold a market every Friday [d 5].

Pertuis became the French 11, at the Union of the Kingdom of Provence in France, after the death of King Rene [41]. The 2 Mungy Bertrand and Jean Roux took the oath of fidelity, as members of the city, Charles VIII, king of France, Comte de Provence and Forcalquier. Twelve years later, in 1493, Pertuis received from Charles VIII to the inalienable privilege of the Crown and the fleur de lis on his shield, a rare privilege for a city. In 1498, the Carmelites negotiate their facility in Pertuis. Daisy Prayer Cadenet, in 1501 made to install a community of Carmelite [d 1].

The plague raged in Provence in 1520, there were only a few victims in countries of Aigues. What prompted the Parliament of Aix to retire to Pertuis in 1546 to escape the wars of religion and a new plague [b 2].

Yet the city was encircled in May 1562, for eighteen days, by Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy, Count of Tende [b 3] and the troops of Paulon of Mauvanes, captain Protestant. She successfully resisted the head [42] and was again besieged unsuccessfully in 1568 [b 3]. She was less fortunate in 1589, returned when theevilcontagious, name that was given then the plague, which caused 4,500 deaths [b 2].

During the wars of the Catholic League, the city became the seat of government of Jean Louis de La Valette Nogaret, Duke of Epernon and lieutenant-general of the King of France [ [Henry III of France | Henri III]]. There convened in September 1588, an assembly of states. In December of that year and in his absence, the Leaguer s made an attempt to invest the city that was a failure [b 3].

In 1590, the Duke of Epernon summoned the Parliament of Aix in Pertuis. Mostly leaguers, parliamentarians did not moved and they called a meeting of the Commons Marseille. Royalist judges, minority, however, constitute a challenge that parliament of Aix, in Pertuis [43]. The 3, the community of Pertuis asked the Governor of Provence States permission to destroy the castle, building considered too warlike, thinking to be at peace without military cantonment site [44].

But the death of Henry III's parliament recognized Pertuis Henri IV and that of Aix in the Cardinal de Bourbon. These divisions were the occasion for the Duke of Savoy from entering the call of Provence Aix parliamentary [45]. Charles-Emmanuel first of Savoy arrived in Aigues country in November 1599, but failed to turn in his attempt to force Pertuis [b 3].

When peace returned in 1620 The Oratory s arrived in Pertuis and the following year they were installed at Saint-Pierre [d 1]. It was not the same with theevilcontagious. In 1629, the fever touched Aix-en-Provence and part of the parliament moved to Pertuis. These wereThe Great Days of Pertuis. But the following year, a sedition of the parliamentary rebellion turns into when Parliament would reinstate Aix. This episode is known as the Revolt of Cascavèux'orMadnessAachen. {{Magnifier | Revolt Cascaveous}} In 1630 -1631 the plague spread again in Pertuis. It was during this period that Conde arrived in Provence with 5,000 men. Fearing reprisals from Richelieu his personal enemy, the governor, the Duke of Guise, took refuge in Italy.

The 24, Captain of the Guards of Louis XIII Nicolas de L'Hospital, Marquis de Vitry, killed Concino Concini favorite of the Regent Marie de Medici, a reward he was promoted Marshal of France. Louis XIII having become king of France, he appointed the Marshal de Vitry, governor of Provence, 22 chooses Pertuis as the seat of his kingdom. The arrival of the marshal was preceded by its reputation of "strong character", a reputation that eventually recognized Provencals not misused. At the beginning of the XVIIth century several religious orders settled in Pertuis. In 1604, the Capuchins laid the first foundations of their convent on the ground that had been granted and overlooked the valley of the Durance [c 7]. In 1620 The Oratory settled north of Saint-Pierre with a small chapel dedicated to Saint Joseph [c 8]. In 1628 moved to another convent, the nuns of Saint Ursula [c 9]. Another convent was born in Pertuis, the convent of St. Clair, which was founded in 1635 by Madame de Lacepede and completed in 1643 [c 10]. Their works busied in 1640, of patients affected by the plague, that year, made only a few victims [b 2].

Modern edit

From the XVIth to XVIIIth century, the country houses grow on and around the town at the same time as the local economy. It is, among other things, the cultivation of mulberry trees for silkworms [46]. It's that time of great buildings that will bring the city's population at 4000 people in 1789.

In 1701, the brothers Pierre and Jean Giraud endowed Pertuis hospice charity to serve as an asylum for old people and orphans [c 11]. The plague raged again in 1720, causing 345 deaths [b 2]. It's 1752 that date, in Pertuis, the first institution of free schools for the education of poor [c 12].

The estate and castle of Val were given in 1753, Toussaint de Joannis, procureur [b 4]. The following year, he asked that his field of 300 hectares (740 acres) be erected in fee. Despite the protests of the inhabitants, the king agreed to commemorate the services rendered by Mr. de Joannis as president of the Court of Auditors Aix [c 12]. His letters were confirmed for the erection Val Joannis in 1774 [b 4].

The 24, a decree of King Louis XVI ordered the permanent removal of the Abbey Montmajour. In the property division of the abbey, the bishop of Vence inherited the rights to Pertuis for a fee to the Bishop of Saint-Paul-Trois-Chateaux. At the beginning of XVIII}} {{e, Pertuis is booming. To cope with increased volume of trade in wheat, the Parliament of Provence requires the city to build a new barn (now the City Hall Annex). Winter 1789 is very strict, the corn is frozen and March 26 the hungry crowd looted the granary [47].

The French Revolution pertuisiens divides into two camps: the Reds, Patriots or support the Revolution, and the Blues conservatives. Each camp is found in a group of penitents, white or black. Following the massacres of pertuisiens on 15 [c 13], reason finally prevailed and both sides reconcile themselves to the "Capuchins" (now the Place Jean Jaurès), but this is only an appearance. Indeed, fearing problems, the mayor allowed to commemorate the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille. Among the rising Federated Marseille to Paris, there are 45 volunteers pertuisiens.

In 1790, appears a quarrel between Apt and Pertuis for the award of the chief town of the district. Apt is finally chosen.

The 12 was created the department of Vaucluse, comprising the districts of Avignon and Carpentras, but also those of Apt and Orange, which belonged to Bouches-du-Rhône and the Falls Township, which belonged to the Bass Alps.

The siege is maintained in Pertuis from June 1795 to May 1796.

In March 1797, the moderate party, aided by some citizens from Manosque, seized the monastery and destroyed three quarters [c 13]. The remaining buildings were sold to various individuals.

The Church of St. Peter, converted theater in the First Empire, opened again to the Catholic faith in 1820 and was specifically assigned to the Grey Penitents. The city council of 25 vote its final decommissioning [c 14] ..

A suspension bridge is built in 1835 (sixth bridge over the Durance) [48] and 1880, a railway track Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).

Between 1879 and 1896 the politics of Pertuis was stirred with seventeen years of elections, following the resignations individual and collective, dissolution and removal of the mayor Augustus Callier [Note 2], who was mayor four times, alternating mayor, council and even no mandate [49]

In October 1887, Gustave Lancon installs a power plant in Pertuis (the first in France, which still exists today, but who does more for a very long time) for electrification of streets pertuisiennes. Contemporary Period edit

Shortly after the invasion of the "free zone" by the German army, the 25,theLangemark, a battalion of SS, established his headquarters in the city. He controlled a AAA battery placed in Villelaure, and an anti-tank company [b 3].

A year later, the SS received the backing of five hundred troops in the month of September 1943. Their arrival was preceded by important police operations and the occupation of the post office. This did not prevent the Strength to sabotage the railroad, having blown installations in the station SNCF [b 3] .

Pressure resistant grew stronger over the months. The 16, a company of guerrillas hung Germans on the road Villelaure. During the battle, lost his life a resistant and a stele was erected there. During this period, several Jewish families (Polish, German and Russian) fled to Pertuis, but they were arrested between 1942 and 1944 and deported to the camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau {{Link [50].

Trends in policies and outcomes

Pertuis has a left-leaning voters locally and orienting right at the national level. In effect since 1945, only two non-socialist mayors were elected: in 1982, Pierre Fructus UDF (although in 2008 he had supported the list of Socialist Party) and Roger Pellenc UMP since 2008. The councilors are also elected socialist. By cons to legislative and presidential vote in the city right.

Local Elections

Cantonal

Township of Pertuis as part of the second series of cantons and was renewed during the cantonal elections of 2008 The election was held on March 9 and 16 along the [ [French municipal elections of 2008 | elections]]. For the General election of 2007 for the Second District of Vaucluse, the first round saw Jean-Claude Bouchet ( UMP) happen slightly in the lead with 32.69% ahead of Jean-Louis Joseph ( SP) with 31.08%, followed by Maurice Giro (Miscellaneous Right) with 10 , 99% and Nicole Bouisse ( UDF) with 7.28%, no other candidate than the 5% threshold. The second round has seen the head Jean-Claude Bouchet with 50.40% (constituency results [53]: 55.28%) against 49.60% for Joseph Jean-Louis (electoral result: 44.72%). Greater abstention in Pertuis respectively 43.93% and 43.45% in both rounds in the constituency (37.93% and 38.68%) [54].

National Elections

At the Presidential Election 2007, the first round saw stand out clearly in the lead Nicolas Sarkozy ( UMP) with 31, 22%, followed by Ségolène Royal ( SP) with 24.26%, François Bayrou ( UDF) with 18.26%, Jean-Marie Le Pen ( FN) with 11.81% and Olivier Besancenot with 4.37%, no other candidate exceeding the threshold of 3%. The second round has seen Nicolas Sarkozy in the lead with 55.25% (national result [55]: 53.06%) against 44.75% for Segolene Royal (national result: 46.94%) with a turnout in both rounds of 81.35% and 82.36% (against 83.77% and 83.97% nationally) [56].

Referendum

The Referendum on the EU constitution (poll of the 29) on 12,708 registered 8,634 voted, representing a stake of 67.94% of the total (against 69.37% at the national level [57] ) or forbearance from 32.06%. There was a strong victorynotwith 5,084 votes (60.02%), 3,386 votes (39.98%) having spoken to 'and 164 (1.90%) were blank or spoiled votes [58].

European

At the Election 2004 European, Michel Rocard ( SP) came in first with 33.29%, followed by Francoise Grossetete ( UMP) with 12.86%, Jean-Marie Le Pen ( FN) with 12.71 % Thierry Cornillet ( UDF) with 9.36%, Jean-Luc Bennahmias ( ecology) with 7.84% , Manuel Gomez ( Communist Party) and 6.58% Patrick Louis ( MPF) with 5.56%; none of the 15 other candidates not exceeding the threshold of 3.5% [59].

At the European Election 2009 Françoise Grossetete ( UMP) is topped with 24.86%, followed by Michele Rivasi (Europe Ecology) with 18.06%, Vincent Peillon ( SP) with 17.26%, Jean-Marie Le Pen ( FN) with 8.43%, Jean-Luc Bennahmias ( Modem) with 8.13%, [ [Marie-Christine Vergiat]] (Left Front) 6.68% and Raoul-Marc Jennar ( NPA) with 5.48% and no other candidate exceeding the threshold of 3.5%. The turnout was 36.62% [60] 39.64% cons for District Southeast (5e constituency) < ref> (in English) "Election of 7 June 2009 in South-East". Ministère of the Interior. </ref>.

European Elections

European referendum on the Treaty of Maastricht (poll of the 20) on 10,071 registered 7,059 voted, representing a stake of 70.09% (against 69.70% nationally [61]), a absentee 29, 91%. There was a victory fornowith 3,704 votes (53.92%) cons 3,166 votes (46.08%) who were in favor ofyes , 189 votes (2.68%) were blank or spoiled [62].

Municipal Administration

Because of its size, the municipality has a council of 33 members (Article L2121-2 of the Code General Local [63] ). The 2008 election returned 26 counselors for a list of Roger Pellenc majority (47.44% of votes), 5 Councillors for the Socialist Fabian Perez (35.25% of votes ) and 2 list various right Trinquier Noelle (17.31% of votes) [64].

Within the Agglomeration community of Pays d'Aix the town has 7 Councillors Community: Mayor as Vice-president of the community and 6 councilors (five from the majority and 1 of opposition).

List of mayors

In 1789 in 1799, municipal officials (mayors) are directly elected for 2 years and re-elected by the active citizens of the county, taxpayers pay a contribution of at least 3 working days in the town. Eligible are those who pay tax at least equal to ten working days.

In 1799 in 1848, the formation of 22 Frimaire VIII (13) returned to the election of the mayor, mayors are appointed by the Reeve for municipalities of less than 5,000 people. Restoration introduces the appointment of mayors and municipal councilors. After 1831, the mayors are appointed (by the king to the municipalities of more than 3,000 people, by the prefect for the smallest), but the councilors are elected for six years.

From 3 to 1851, mayors are elected by council to the municipalities under 6,000 people.

In 1851 in 1871, mayors are appointed by the prefect, for municipalities with fewer than 3,000 people and for 5 years from 1855.

Since 1871 Mayors are elected by the City Council following his election by universal suffrage.

Pertuis is the capital of Township totaling fourteen municipalities 32,492 inhabitants 2006. The township is part of the Borough of Apt in 1801 (except from 1926 to 1933 where it was Cavaillon) and Second District of Vaucluse.

At the beginning of the century were 2 Pertuis hospitals,General Hospital Charity(from the legacy of the brothers Giraud and inaugurated in 1719) andhospitalSaint-Jacques (rue de Croze name its founder Melchior de Croze inaugurated in June 1707) [37]. The chapel * Saint-Roch. In 1528, the city council decides to {{citation}}: Empty citation (help). We must wait for the epidemic of 1640 that pertuisiens perform this vow. Antoine and Barthelemy Puget pertuisiens two masons, built in 1651, a small chapel nave ceiling with a door decorated with semicircular bosses. The chapel was inaugurated on 10. City Hall edit

In the late eighteenth century town house was transferred to the current building, was the mansion of the family Croze, acquired by the city in 1827 [249] . Municipal Theatre

A building belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Mikaelly was bought by the city into a theater in 1912 [252]. Family Mikaelly ensure its implementation. The disappearance of the husband was transformed into a cinema hall. In December 1976, the city acquired the rights attaching to the theater in order to restore the building. It is administered by the city as a municipal theater [253]

Cinema edit

The film is calledPertuisthe Luberon has three halls for 501 seats [254] and is directed by Yasmine Borgesson (who also directed the filmCigalonat Cucuron). It is also classified as anart filmand tests [255]. The game library created in 1991 byFriends of the Maternity of Pertuis,associationAGame Library in Pertuis actually began operations in 1995 through the provision of a local 60 metres (196.85 ft) by the city of Pertuis. The toy library is open to the public year round. Its location in downtown Pertuis is strategic because a city is neo-rural population exploding, a large proportion of the population comes from immigration and gypsy families in the process of settlement. It has an inventory of 1,200 games. Located in the green space of the Garden of Europe, it allows children to play outside also. In addition to the game site and ready for gaming and the toy library runs creative workshops for children, and days in different communities such as nurseries, campgrounds, schools, recreation centers, retirement homes.

School of Music edit

In 1936 is creating theMusic Cityand1951Harmony Durance Luberon in the music school to become municipal 1981. The municipal association of South-Luberon music is created in 1990, 12 accedes Commons: Pertuis, La Tour-d'Aigues Villelaure [[Cucuron] ], Grambois Ansouis -Cabrières d'Aigues, Saint-Martin-de-la-Brasque, The Bastidonne -d Peypin Aigues and Vaugines. But due to financial difficulties and other disputes since 2008 municipal association of music is dissolved by order of the sub-prefect of Apt on 15 at the request of 11 municipalities and opposition of a (La Tour d'Aigues) [259]. The academy became the Municipal Conservatory of Music in Pertuis which hosts over 400 students and operates in primary schools in 11 municipalities for the 2010/2011 season [260]. This is one of the few music schools in the region to offer all types of instruments (violin alto cello [[flute] ], clarinet oboe The saxophone s, trumpet trombone snorkel piano harpsichord acoustic guitar and electrical lute percussion and [[Battery (music) | battery] ]. The conservatory occupies the premises of the old charity hospital (northern, the southern schools are Albert Camus and Georges Brassens).
