Relationship between Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda edit

Hello, I have spent 4 more hours and finished basic structure of Relationship between Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda'. It was a difficult work. Known issues: the article does not have any information on "Ramakrishna Aratrik", "Hymn to Ramakrishna" and "Ramakrishna Vivekananda Movement", I am searching an preparing sources. Could you please copyedit and expand Influence on Vivekananda section (as I was becoming tired the last two sections became short). There are many good quotes of Vivekananda on Ramakrishna in My Master. --TitoDutta 04:16, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Template:Did you know nominations/Vivekananda in California edit

I'm sorry but Template:Did you know nominations/Vivekananda in California needs to be repaired. I was the nominator, per your request on my talkpage, but as my name does not appear as Author, there's a glitch. Re: Nomination edit

No, [Influence and legacy of Swami Vivekananda]] has not been nominated so far. nor the Rousing Call to Hindu Nation. If you give your assent, I'll move Vivekananda in California to Swami Vivekananda in California for two reasons a) similar title in every article, b) some editors try to remove "Swami" from the title Swami Vivekananda, without understanding "Swami" here is not an honorific, but a common name. They have added few templates in Relationship between Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda, I can understand the copyedit template, but, tagging the entire essay for the two sources which are referred everywehere is unacceptable. And eventually if we can not use any RKM, Udbodhan, Belur source, that will be a big blow on me. I'll find Swami Vivekananda temple's sources soon. Surya Namaskra Yagna may take time. I'll explain in my next post. You will get an email shortly. TitoDutta 12:17, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Template:Did you know nominations/Jiddat al-Harasis - I have never seen such a pointy review of one of our articles. What do you make of it? Just FYI, I'm sick with a bad sinus infection so I won't be editing again today; head throbbing. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:32, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Pointy? You disambiguated anorthite to ammonium nitrate! That is far more disruptive than my removing it.
I don't know what to do about the article, but it can't go on the main page with junk science, so let me know if you are going to fix it or what you plan to do. Thanks. --(AfadsBad (talk) 13:45, 3 October 2013 (UTC))

Sangeet Kalpataru edit

This short article has been started as well: Sangeet Kalpataru. --TitoDutta 17:12, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

  • and the article Swami Vivekananda's prayer to Kali at Dakshineswar has been started as well. TitoDutta 02:54, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
    • Musicologist Swami Vivekananda will be a difficult subject, we need to go from Naren Datta being trained by Beni Ostad and to the songs written by Vivekananda. Moreover the subject is disputed, Rajagopal Chattopadhyaya and Sil have argued, Vivekananda was not a musicologist and it was RKM's attempt to deify him. Even if we write it, it'll be a loong article. About Surya Namaskra Yagna, I still can not understand whether we should write on SNY 2013 or SNY or Yogathan, it seems "Yogathan" is the main event, "SNY" is child event, "SNY2013" is a particular year's event.
Swami Vivekananda in Mysore should be relatively easier. Vivekananda stayed there for three weeks, met the diwan and the king etc, please start the article, I'll work there. Another important article is Swami Vivekananda in Chennai. TitoDutta 14:02, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Good idea. I'd suggest you create it and move all those paragraphs out of Protected areas of Chad before the dyk review of Protected Areas; all the attribution is to you. RBN changes edit

Unfortunately a nasty blog article by the Omani desert guy has resulted in an unpleasant thread criticizing our work at DYK. I've made some proposals and some immediate changes. I've decided that accuracy is important enough to make it worth putting more effort into checking content, but that the output at present is too great to get it done effectively. I suggest that we slow down, keep expansions fairly basic and go back to editing in sandboxes again which takes away the five day pressure. I've pulled some of the recent ones which we won't have time to check over before. I've put your mosque article in Wikipedia:WikiProject Rosblofnari/Larabanga Mosque. Can you add citations to every sentence you write so they can be verified by Rosie or I and then they can be removed once checked? It's just if none of us have the time to even read or check the content in each of the articles then we're making ourselves vulnerable to attacks. I've removed the date column in the table which should now become irrelevant as the 5 day restriction will be lifted. Sorry about this anyway, but I think you understand why the changes need to be made.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:37, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

I'll take a look. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:20, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Regarding comments about Protected areas of Chad found @ Template:Did you know nominations/Elephant hunting in Chad, Protected areas of Chad. Can you please doublecheck if the remaining citations appropriately reference the remaining content? If they don't, either add a new appropriate ref, or rmv the content, or let me know and I'll do the same. Thx. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:43, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

I disagree with the notion that a hotel must have an infobox and that the article is gushing. It's a hotel. Most of the info is political. The grey infobox looks ugly IMO. Although I've used it for other articles without a photograph and nice info it seems redundant. If he's going to be picky just let it pass. For the Ghana mosque in sandbox can you cite where you got every sentence from? I can begun checking and copyediting it then. CheCK your email BTW..♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:14, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the refs. As for the reorganization of RBN Current Articles, looks like Dr. B made some changes, which would support the suggestions that articles be written in sandbox and articles must complete a systematic RBN review process before they can be nomed. If you were the sole author on any of those articles, you can nom the article if you wish as it wouldn't fall under the auspices of RBN. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:47, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Contributing edit

I've checked the Ghana mosque article fully and should be OK for DYK. Can you try to take extra care with source attribution as the article had multiple wrongly attributed sources. If you create any more content like the Estonian castle, please ensure that you source every sentence written in it, otherwise you're making it difficult for me to find the source. If you can source every sentence unless the whole paragraph is from one source I'd be very grateful. That way once checked I can remove the source if it is oversourced. I feel that the only way we can continue contributing together is that we're extra careful with the content and strive to be as accurate as possible, but this means reducing our output to only a handful of articles a week. I know you understand.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:17, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks I'll look into it later. If it's OK by you can we work on maximum 2-3 articles at anyone time, 1-2 ideally and then you can post it at DYK if you want once checked and then start another. That way the workload needed to check won't seem too great as I do have other work I do on here. Perhaps you could continue with your Indian temples/Hindu stuff, or if you feel like working on more articles for RBN perhaps keep them in your own user space until the RBN main page load is reduced and then post there, I and Rosie can do the same if we feel like starting something and there's already 2 or 3 articles on the page..♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:52, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Yes, that's fine, on the Ghana mosque. I'm going to post my thoughts about collaborative writing on the RBN talkpage later today regarding "Doveryai, no proveryai"/"Trust, but verify"; please join in the conversation. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:48, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, but we have to deal with the auditing more systematically than the notes you wrote on the Audit page. The review needs to be more like what we're doing with cassava. The review doesn't have to have a fancy box and it doesn't have to look like a GA-review, but it has to be systematic. I think Dr. B's recommendation to move cassava and its review into RBN sandbox was a good idea and we should do that for every article we back-audit. I think the community is expecting sandbox article creation and/or sandbox back-audits so let's stick with that process. I know you'll notice it, but wanted to mention that I started a separate section, "Current audits", on the RBN page under "Current articles". --Rosiestep (talk) 14:56, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Yes, can you ask him, although I thought Rosie was able to do it?♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:38, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

I moved Kahuzi-Biéga National Park to Wikipedia:WikiProject Rosblofnari/Kahuzi-Biéga National Park as it appears you were asking about that on Dr.B's talkpage. I see you had Materialscientist move the castle, which is great, but remember, I have the tools and can do that for us. Check your email. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:24, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

No worries about MScientist doing the move! I should have been doing them for us all along as I've been an admin since 2009. I figured I'd finally speak up as we're going to have more articles to move around. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:35, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Book status edit

It'll take some more time than expected, I went to the DTDC courier office today, they told it'll need 300 something to send the book in courier. Now sending a 100 book by 300 courier is a bit high. I'll try the book post of Indian Postal Service tomorrow morning. I don't know about Indian Post's timing. If you are going somewhere else in next few days, please inform me within next 12 hours i.e. 10 am 29 October 2013 I'll send it by courier immediately. TitoDutta 14:18, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Way forward edit

I've emailed and left my primary concerns about collaborating on the RBN talk page. Perhaps if the rush is no longer there and you can learn to reread sources/your content and copyedit your own work the work needed to process articles you've written might not be as much. My honest thoughts about this matter on the talk page came after I checked my watch and was annoyed that I'd lost an hour of my time just looking into sources and rephrasing it. If I have to do that sort of thing day in day out I really don't want to continue. Let's give it a go anyway. I think we all need to be more careful with everything from now on, and I don't just mean the blogger. Please no new articles though until we've cleared this month's articles, having to do that and new articles is too much. perhaps create some stubs or add minor details to some of the unsourced Indian villages/temples in the meantime if you're still eager to create at the moment, but let's keep away from nomming thing for DYK right now... The Estonian castle though should be OK to nom now, I take responsibility if it has issues.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:18, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Some issues in the article in Current audit needing addressing, thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:26, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Don't be too hard on yourself and feel too dejected Nvv. It's easy for others to criticize, but problems or not, encyclopedia writing is a very difficult business and it is extremely easy to introduce errors into your writing. I've just added to Bardaï, Chad and I almost made 3 or 4 errors alone in the text I added by initially misreading the sources, e.g I read March 1986 and only spotted December 1986 when the actual attack took place at the last minute. There may still be errors I introduced, we can never be fully sure on anything we write about that we're not experts on. Feel free to check over my work on it. Anyway, we can at least slow down and try to be more careful from now on, and I think our work will be better for it, even if we like anybody who writes an encyclopedia isn't immune to making errors. I hope you appreciate my honesty in that I fear that if we don't work together to check each other's work then I fear you/we might encounter a nasty investigation at some point, we're better than that of course, so let's live up to what is expected of us as experienced editord.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:22, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Of course.--Nvvchar. 14:37, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Mourdai Depression didn't even have errors and is a decent starter article but she still picked on it.No please in some people. We'll go back to working through the A-Z once the currently month's auditing is done. If we share the workload more and generate less articles it should be easier to monitor things. We can only improve from this I think, and it takes more pressure off yourself to mass produce content to keep up woth the 5 day deadline! Have you considered doing some improvements on villages in the area you grew up perhaps? Most Indian village articles are a shambles sadly. Just spotted that my place of birth doesn't even have an article St David's Hospital, Cardiff. The old hospital was knocked down in the 1990s. We should have an article covering the old hospital and the new one. Architecturally it was quite notable. We'll have to work on that one sometime..♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:08, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
