Untitled edit

This page used to redirect to "Women in Mexico," which only contained a brief section on Violence against women. I have started a new article, originally drafted in my sandbox, about the different forms of violence against women and the situation in Mexico, the roots of these types of violence, and the legislation created and its effects. Activism and Protest edits edit

I plan on contributing to this section by adding in the activism and protest sections with edits on the “Un Día Sin Mujeres” protests that happened. Including more information about the women's experiences and the government’s actions to it and the women’s perspective on the government’s actions. This is important to add to understand every aspect of the protests and see what those in or close to the government thought of the protests and the impact of them and the women’s opinions. UPDATE: Contributing to the "Cultural & Economic Roots", "Impunity", "COVID" and "Film" Section edit

Hello everyone! I plan on possibly contributing to this article by first updating the "Cultural & Economic Roots" section as it does not include enough information about the historical origin of machismo and marianismo. In order to understand why there is a high rate of femicides in Mexico, context needs to be provided behind marianismo and machismo, including its relation to colonialism. In addition, I plan on updating the impunity section of the article. Not much data is provided to let the readers know to what extent are femicide cases being dismissed by Mexican Authorities. Also, since COVID-19 there have been an increase in violent acts against women. By adding this new section readers will be updated on how the pandemic had other non-health related consequences. Lastly, I plan on adding a "Film" section featuring "Luchadoras" a documentary based on violence against women in Mexico. Rovalle234 (talk) 22:42, 1 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

After reviewing the article one more time, I also plan on adding a subsection,"Maquiladora and NAFTA", under "Femicides in Cuidad Juarez" because this is an additional important reason as to why there are a lot of female killings in this area. Lastly, I plan on adding another subsection, "Underrepresentation of Femicides" under the "Femicides in Cuidad Juarez" section because it is important readers know that femicide statistics wont always account for all of the actual cases because they are either categorized as Intimate Partner Violence or are underreported.I have a more detailed list of my suggestions/plans for the article as well as resources in my User Page.Rovalle234 (talk) 07:06, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have decided I will be adding the edits listed above to the article. Please view my sandbox for a more detailed list of my edits as well as recourses that will support the sections. Excited to start soon and open to any suggestions! Rovalle234 (talk) 22:48, 29 September 2022 (UTC)Rovalle234Reply

Hello everyone! I have just posted my first edits on the article. I first added a cultural references section and added a documentary under "In Films". Next I added more information regarding Mexicos impunity rate as well as women's lack of trust in the government. I kept the original content that was on this section I just moved the placement of sentences, so the information would flow better for readers. If you only want to see my edits, please view my sandbox draft. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions! Rovalle234 (talk) 02:31, 14 October 2022 (UTC)Rovalle234Reply

Illogical nonsense edit

"Femicide in Mexico", after defining femicide as "intentional murder of women because they are women." immediately jumps to treating every homicide of women as a femicide, which is clearly a logical fallacy and makes whole article worthless. 85.193.212.205 (talk) 14:40, 18 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge of General Law on Women's Access to a Life Free of Violence into Violence against women in Mexico edit

This law does not seem to be notable, and can be merged into the violence against women article instead. Other options may be better but I can only think of this. Spinixster (chat!) 07:31, 8 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
