It looks like the it is Tomy when not in a capitalized font - not TOMY. See [1] and Takara - so I think it should stay at Tomy and there could be no mention of TOMY in any articles...

Fair use rationale for Image:Asatsuyu.jpg

edit

Image:Asatsuyu.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:46, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Takara TomyTomy – Takara Tomy's situation is similar to what JVC has with their names. After merging with Takara, They market themselves as Takara Tomy in Japan and parts of Asia (unlike JVC, apparently. And I saw their Seoul branch uses "Takara Tomy" name.), but their legal name in English is "Tomy Co., Ltd.", and they use "Tomy" for the rest of the world. Hobby use

edit

Tomy is widely known among model rocketry hobbyists (particularly water rocketry) for the clockwork motor mechanisms inside some of their toys. Hobbyists use the motors as lightweight, reliable timers that unwind in a predictable time interval, to trigger mechanical deployment of rocket recovery systems.

I find a lot of Google hits for this, but so far nothing I can use that would satisfy WP:RS.... 00:01, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

Split?

edit

Couldn't the pre-merger history of Tomy be split into Tomy (1924–2006), so the トミー (企業) article at the Japanese Wikipedia can have a companion here? JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 12:04, 20 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Theoretically, sure, but the article is unreferenced. It would have to be rewritten rather than split. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 23:48, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Kind-of agreed. Placing a relevant template right now. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 04:02, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I agree and may do the split some time. But yes references will have to be added. Sceeegt (talk) 14:36, 13 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
