Keith D - can you remove the graffiti that is still at the bottom of this page? I have tried but it must be hidden in some way. RobinCarmody (talk) 20:47, 14 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I found it - it was in the team template. I have removed it now. Keith D (talk) 21:21, 14 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

International stats edit

National Football Teams clearly states that, as of this present time, Etheridge has 25 senior caps. Banana Fingers (talk · contribs) is edit warring and engaging in disruptive editing by removing referenced information, without providing an alternative source. Please discuss this here. GiantSnowman 16:30, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Good god! Edit warring?!?!? I've clearly stated in my summaries that NFT is at present unreliable for Neil Etheridge's stats. I'm merely removing unreliable data. From all the people, I would've expected you GianSnowman to know how NFT works! I've already had a run-in with you about this for a different player, Jason de Jong. Let's take it from the top then! National-Football-Teams.com doesn't magically have every international player's stats. The person(s) behind the website has to actually find the match report for a given match. If he/they do, then they enter it into their database. If he/they don't find a match report which has the line-ups for a given match, it will be labeled as "missing data". In Etheridge's case, for the year 2008, the year which he made his international debut, there are three matches with missing data... all from the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup qualification tournament which he participated in! So the current 25 caps is INACCURATE!! Banana Fingers (talk) 16:46, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
No-one's claiming that NFT is 100% amazing and reliable, but by refusing to provide a source proving these three missing caps exist (you still haven't BTW) then yes, you are edit warring and being disruptive. WP:3RR might be worth a read. GiantSnowman 16:56, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Then I suggest you take down the unreliable data which I have tried removing. Nobody might not be claiming that NFT is 100% "amazing or reliable" but by persisting with it as a reference when it clearly isn't reliable (especially by someone who preaches the use of reliable sources) is just ridiculous to say the least! Banana Fingers (talk) 17:01, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
You (still!) haven't proven that the stats provided by NFT are unreliable for Etheridge. Please do so. GiantSnowman 17:03, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
WTF? Seriously! I have already explained that there are missing data for the year 2008! A year which Etheridge have made appearances in and is also his debut year internationally! In general for NFT, if there is missing data for a particular year and a player has made appearances for their country in that year then their total caps is already considered inaccurate due to the fact that it is unknown (for the most part) if that player made an appearance in a match where NFT doesn't have the data. And just for you I've done a little digging..... news reports which mention Neil Etheridge playing in those matches which are "missing data" at NFT. 19.10.08 vs Brunei [1], 21.10.08 vs Laos [2], and 23.10.08 vs Cambodia [3] although this one is a blog, its an entry which copy and pasted the match report from aseanfootball.org (the report doesn't exist anymore on the site but the link is still provided in that entry). Banana Fingers (talk) 17:21, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
So you've shown evidence of three matches played in 2008, NFT has four - how do we know those matches aren't the same? GiantSnowman 17:24, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
OMG!!! Do you have some sort of problem comprehending things? I just said above that those reports were to prove that HE DID PLAY IN THE MATCHES WHERE NFT HAS MISSING DATA!!! If you look at FIFA.com, the Philippines played a total of seven matches in 2008. NFT already has the data for four and Etheridge also already has for caps! I just provided you with evidence that Etheridge played in the other three where NFT doesn't have the data. Now go figure! Banana Fingers (talk) 17:33, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
No, I have a problem accepting things about living people without evidence. Please provide evidence that Etheridge made 7 international appearances in 2008. GiantSnowman 17:42, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Once again, just for you GS.... just for you!!!! Evidence of Etheridge appearing in all seven of the Philippines fixtures in 2008.

  • 13.5.08 vs Brunei [4]
  • 15.5.08 vs Tajikistan [5]
  • 17.5.08 vs Bhutan [6]
  • 17.10.08 vs Timor-Leste [7] The win also marked the fourth straight game that the RP defense and goalkeeper Neil Etheridge did not surrender any goal.
  • 19.10.08 vs Brunei [8] Sharing the spotlight was Fil-British goalie Neil Etheridge as the Fulham reserve came up with several spectacular saves...
  • 21.10.08 vs Laos [9] Striker Visay Phapyounin took a cross from Khaysone Soukhavong to fire in the go-ahead marker in the 60th past RP goalie Neil Etheridge.
  • 23.10.08 vs Cambodia [10] which was taken from here, aseanfootball.org (now a dead link). Sam El Nasa picked up a cross from the right before turning a defender to slot the ball past Neil Etheridge.

Happy?!?!?!?!?!?! Banana Fingers (talk) 17:44, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ecstatic. Thank you very much. I will adjust the article accordingly. GiantSnowman 17:47, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Aww... good for you! Still ridiculous though to say the least! [11] Banana Fingers (talk) 17:56, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

How about you do your part now.... how about finding Etheridge's league stats from his loan at non-league side Leatherhead. Banana Fingers (talk) 18:01, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

What was ridiculous about it? And no, those stats are probably impossible to find, and not nearly as important as international stats. Who's being silly now? GiantSnowman 18:35, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Neil Etheridge edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Neil Etheridge's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Soccerway":

  • From Nick Pope (footballer): "N. Pope: Summary". Soccerway. Perform Group. Retrieved 30 July 2018.
  • From Jazz Richards: Neil Etheridge at Soccerway. Retrieved 22 August 2018.
  • From Sol Bamba: Neil Etheridge at Soccerway. Retrieved 23 August 2018.
  • From Chris Lewington: "Matches of C. Lewington". Soccerway. Retrieved 18 April 2016.
  • From Kenneth Zohore: "K. Zohore". Soccerway. Retrieved 21 August 2017.
  • From Martin Jol: "M. Jol". Soccerway. Retrieved 6 January 2015.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 22:35, 23 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Comments as I'm accustomed to seeing, no major issues at all with GA criteria, so please take the following as you see fit:

  • Avoid single-sentence paras, e.g. opening the lead and closing the lead in such a manner is a little jarring.
  • Would also reduce it down to three paras.
  • I usually just add "association" with football, to ensure we get no complaints from those outside the only real code...
  • " making over 90 appearances " -> more than 90.
  • Chelsea youth team in the infobox and Club career section is piped to a redirect.
  • "He took up the sport of football " no need for "the sport of"
  • " in Fleet, Hampshire where " comma after Hampshire.
  • Caution over those small paras again as we go into the Fulham section.
  • "underwent surgery on both knees." any precursor to this?
  • "2009–10 season " I usually put season inside the piped link.
  • " extension in May that would extend " extension ... extend, repetitive.
  • "in which was his and Rovers first clean sheet of" not sure you need the "in" here. And wouldn't it be "Rovers'"?
  • "end of 2013–14 season" you didn't link that particular season.
  • " with the Saddlers" I think this is just unnecessarily confusing for non-football readers. Just remove.
  • "nominated for the August Player of the Month." this probably needs a link or some context, again for non-experts.
  • "his countries matches" shouldn't that be "his country's matches"?
  • "single goal-enabling" definitely shouldn't be a hyphen, maybe a comma?
  • "kept the scoreline respectable " a little too colloquial for my taste.
  • " 3rd place" third place.
  • "In his home nation, the Philippines, " after the previous section about his international career, I don't think "his home nation" is really needed here.
  • Some spaced hyphens in the ref titles (should be en-dashes).

That's all I have. I'll put it on hold while we get through these, but as I noted, it's pretty much there, these are the icing on a decent cake. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:08, 28 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

@The Rambling Man: Thanks very much for the review, I've amended all of the points above bar one. In regards to adding association before football, I have no real strong feelings either way but the WP:Football MoS would go against that and, more than likely, I don't think it'll last long before someone removes it. I'm happy to add if you feel it's an important addition, let me know your thoughts. Kosack (talk) 20:59, 28 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Kosack, happy with those changes, so I'm passing. Good work. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:35, 29 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
