Comment edit

Mirza is also a title used by Mongols

And so it is. I'll add that to the article. Please sign your "talk" posts with ~~~~ - UtherSRG 16:39, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

Note: Mirza is also the genus name of the giant mouse lemur. 71.217.98.158 00:47, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mirza usage in Persia/Iranian edit

What the article said seemed wrong to me (from what I remember), so....

My mother is Iranian. Born and raised there. And only moved to Canada (at my Dad's request) after marrying my Dad (who is a Canadian). (So she's an expert on this.)

I asked her and (I'll update the article to reflect that.) --Charles Iliya Krempeaux 22:50, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Meanings of "mirza" edit

In Kazakh as in other turkic languages from former USSR 'mirza' means 'mister'--AlefZet 14:01, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Today edit

In the article it says...

"The name today is in use mainly in the the Indian subcontinental"

That's not accurate. The title is still used in Iran. --Charles Iliya Krempeaux 07:35, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mirza Meaning in Circassian Feudal social System. edit

Mirza is used by some Circassian royal families; Mirza signifies pure royal linage when both parents are of the same rank. When appended to the surname, to signify Prince..--Adyga (talk) 12:30, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth edit

Mirza was used by polish nobility (szlachta) families, they have (Tatar) origin, but 'sum' is Latin word. It means 'I'm': Polonus nobilis sum - I'm polish nobleman. Polish Murzyn is from Maur (Latin: Maurus, en.: Moors), not from mirza. Sorry for my English. --Kynikos Vodyanoi (talk) 05:02, 12 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Feminine version? edit

Anyone know what the feminine of "Mirza" is? As in, "princess"? Is it the same term or a feminine form? I've heard conflicting views on the internet about this, as apparently there are some women with the first name Mirza. --Snowgrouse (talk) 22:37, 28 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Kyrgyz spelling edit

why can't I use Kyrgyz spelling in introduction section? it is still in use in Kyrgyzstan, not only there but in all Central Asian countries, meaning "Mister" and female form is "Myrzayim", i.e. Mrs.

Because this is not done in wikipedia. Word translations belong to wiktionary. This is English wikipedia, and we usually don't list translations into numerous other languages. - Altenmann >t 21:24, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

WP:LEAD edit

Based on the content of the article, I expanded the lead a bit, and listed the names of the states/dynasties that adopted and used the term "Mirza". I should also note that I believe the article is in need of more citations and reliable secondary sources. --Kurdo777 (talk) 12:15, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

History edit

the second para had some uncited text that I removed. It basically just rephrased the history of Mughal india in 8-9 lines that the article could do without. (Rajshahi jela (talk) 10:17, 25 January 2011 (UTC))Reply

Persian kingdom edit

The list of Highnesses needs a bit of context, i.e. an introductory sentence saying why they are listed. —Tamfang (talk) 21:28, 8 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

– There was an undiscussed cut-and-paste move from this page to the base title, which will need to be history-merged; the disambiguation page was moved to Mirza (disambiguation) via an improper title. Is there a clear primary topic for Mirza? –LaundryPizza03 (d) 09:08, 13 November 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. Clyde!Franklin! 21:42, 20 November 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. Steel1943 (talk) 20:22, 28 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

  •   Administrator note I have restored the dab to its original location at Mirza, since there were no significant edits made after the copy/paste from Mirza (name). That being said, the question is still a valid one as to whether there is a clear primary topic (or not). Primefac (talk) 14:55, 14 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Relisting comment: The "MirzaMirza (disambiguation)" part of the move request was just added to this request. In other words, this relist is procedural due to the additional page being listed. Steel1943 (talk) 20:22, 28 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. The name page, with is not the primary topic. Best to have a disambiguation page at the base title.  — Amakuru (talk) 21:25, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
