Industrial Hip Hop edit

Shouldn't Industrial Hip Hop be listed as a genre for M.I.A? Some songs i've heard (ie Born Free) definitely have an Industrial sound. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.106.12.57 (talk) 19:29, 2 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ridiculous level of detail for a pretty minor artist edit

MIA's page contains an insane level of detail, much of it of interest to an obsessive fan, and only a fan who treats each of her pronouncements as laden with significance; parts of it read like a love letter to the artist, and seem to repeat irrelevant (and often unsubstantiated) 'facts' which seem to have no bearing on her music. For context, this page is over 3 times the length as that for Public Enemy, a group who have made a far greater impact on music and popular culture. Indeed it is almost as long as the entry for The Beatles! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidlubich (talkcontribs) 14:20, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Davidlubich: first of all, your opinions on MIA and Public Enemy are not of any substance here. We do not care. Second of all, it seems you're wondering why this article is so long? The easiest explanation is that 1. a lot of people care about her and 2. there's an abundance of sources to go off of. and for the record, paper planes has made a bigger impact on the world then public enemy ever will. versacespaceleave a message! 14:27, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Minor artist - Mayor queen
Do you consider.. Charles III or Joe Biden II mayor artists? More interesting? Or do you just not follow their artistery? CS 15:52, 4 April 2023 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by CSjoholm (talkcontribs)

M*I*A initialisation acronym and proper name for girl, boy, agency etc. edit

At present timeplace, stance, Acronymfinder.com lists 83 interesting meanings for M.I.A as initialization. https://www.acronymfinder.com/MIA.html. The most common one in military lore is none of them but MARINE INTELLIGENCE AGENCY, as the main branches of the global armed forces each use to have their own intel organization, and the one for the MARINE is by many considered the sharpest one, being since it has dealt with immigration and customs clearing long time before aero-space travel.

Given Mathangi Arulpragasam themes, looks, one have to consider the likeness and consistency with the theory that she is the incarnation and/or the immortal being of Cleopatra VII of Alexandrian Egypt. She never or at least very rarely in known and publicized interviews acknowledge anything else than she should be something other than a human.

Cleopatra is known as the First Lady. There still is a region of the lower Nile, by the Med named Dametta, Dame One. Maria, Mary, Maya, are obvious and well known names for the first lady, Madonna, of Abrahamitic religions that stemmed out of that area, and a age old tension with the Egyptian Empire that Cleopatra became known for having dismantled in favour for Rome, and her Roman lover, the Emperor and Generals of that empire. Antisemitic Tweet about Sam Bankman-Fried in 2022 edit

On Nov. 13, 2022, M.I.A Tweeted: "'Bankman-Fried' names are powerful." This is a not-so-subtle statement about Jews having too much power, an antisemitic trope. I think this belongs in the article.

In a shorter article I might not think this belongs, but given the level of detail in this article, I think it does belong. Paul22214 (talk) 22:12, 11 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
