Thai football records and statistics

edit

I've moved some statistical information to a new page - Thailand football records and statistics. I'm hoping to create a new page with all recordable information on it and try to keep the main pages for Premier League, Division 1 etc to a minimal and generally just explain the league structures etc, but keep records on another area to be viewed.

Clubs and Stadiums

edit

I have taken out the clubs and stadiums section as i don't thiunk it is really need for this page that describes the history of the league.

I have however, moved the information to the Thailand Premier League 2009 page as i think it is more worth while in there.

However, i think we should have a All Time Members section to show which teams have taken part in the Premier League since it was formed in 1996/97. Druryfire (talk) 21:11, 8 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cut-and-paste move reverted

edit

The RM discussion above (#Requested_move_21_February_2016) was closed as "not moved" but someone went ahead anyway and did a cut-and-paste move. I have now repaired that per WP:ADMINGUIDE/CP, restoring the title agreed at the last RM.

If editors still feel that the title should be changed, please follow the process for contested moves set out at WP:RM#CM. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:41, 7 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was: page moved to Thai League T1. (non-admin closure) TonyBallioni (talk) 14:44, 14 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thai Premier LeagueThai League – Per the above two sections. A cursory Google News search reveals that the title has since been widely adopted. I don't think there's any significant potential for confusion that a dab hatnote can't solve. Most of the Google Books results mentioned in the earlier discussion are also actually OCR errors for "that league". Paul_012 (talk) 08:51, 7 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 22 April 2017

Moved as proposed. Substantial evidence supports the consensus that this is basically an example of the "ATM Machine" problem. bd2412 T 02:09, 13 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

– Soon after the page was renamed from Thai Premier League following the above discussion, the editors BTechTV and KungDekZa have moved this and related articles to Thai League 1, etc, without following procedure, and have since been reverted. However, I think the previous consensus was pretty weak, since it wasn't based on any strong evidence and was sparsely attended. A cursory Google News search reveals that most mentions are in the form of "Thai League 1" or "Thai League (T1)", which seems to support BTechTV and KungDekZa's moves. Pinging BrownHairedGirl and Ministerboy who contributed to the previous discussion. Paul_012 (talk) 04:58, 22 April 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. • Oppose for now. I am open to evidence of usage in English-language reliable sources, but the nominator's vague wave at an unlinked cursory Google News search is not evidence. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 10:32, 22 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
    • Remember, though, that your original suggestion for "Thai League T1" was only paraphrased from the article's lead sentence, which isn't cited to any reliable source either. Anyway, here are the links to searches for "Thai League 1" and "Thai League T1", for convenience. --Paul_012 (talk) 14:13, 22 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
      • Thanks for the pointers, Paul 012. However, numbers gained from the start page of Google search are misleading. You need to go the end, and find out how many hits there actually are. In this case I find:
  1. 358 hits for "Thai League T1"
  2. 173 hits for "Thai League 1"
That's the opposite of what you found from looking at the first page of results. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 20:08, 26 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • @BrownHairedGirl: As I previously noted, most of the results for "Thai League T1" actually appear to be matching "Thai League (T1)" in the text of the articles, which follows the official usage. ESPN FC, which provides most of the results, is itself inconsistent, and uses both Thai League, Thai League (T1) and Thai League T1, probably indicating that they aren't being very careful with the terminology and shouldn't be relied on. More tellingly, Google news searches return zero results for "Thai League T2", T3 or T4, but does give hits for "Thai League 2", 3 and 4. Even if the evidence isn't clear for the top level, the lower divisions should definitely be renamed. --Paul_012 (talk) 06:25, 27 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Procedural comment It seems to me that we have a persistent problem here with two editors (BTechTV and KungDekZa) moving a large set of inter-related pages, not just without consensus but against a recently-formed consensus. This is not the first time that these two have done this with these articles, and the result has been a long period of instability. There is a very good reason for following consensus-building processes, because it avoids the situation we are in here of a large set of interlinked articles and templates being moved back and forth.
I am sure that there is a reasonable case to be made for either title format; I am open to evidence of which one better fits the policy at WP:AT. However, whatever format is used should be agreed by consensus, and changed only by consensus.
The two editors concerned were pinged at Talk:Thai League T3#Requested_move_22_February_2017, but chose not to participate in the discussion. If this continues, some sort of sanctions may be needed. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 10:50, 22 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Article title

edit

Despite the latest RM having corrected the titles for the Thai League 2, 3 and 4 articles, the title of this article, Thai League 1, still doesn't appear to be correct, at least according to official use. All official use of the title refer to it as "Thai League" or "Thai League (T1)" (T1 being an abbreviation). Given that Thai League was previously disputed as the article title, given that the name was also used by other sports, this should probably be renamed to Thai League (football) or Thai League (T1). --Paul_012 (talk) 06:40, 9 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
