wording comment

In current article: "The Holder family has primarily focused on its distribution center up through the 2000s...". But the article reports there are multiple distribution centers, and it's probably impossible to determine the primary focus of a family: wouldn't it be something mundane and family-like rather than relating to the business? Perhaps instead: "A focus of the Holder family management has been the distribution system of the company..." A specific source for the focus assertion, either way, should be provided. I've reworded it some, however the source specifically says "'We haven't expanded a lot since 1996, because we focused on our distribution center,' company controller Robert Campbell said." so they specifically noted its distribution center (which would presumably be the primary one in Harrisburg the article notes they were building. Minor comments

• There's something about "shared names and cities" The city (singular), I'd guess, is Lancaster, PA but that's not clear in the article (or grammatically). Any chance you could find what township in Lancaster County the farmhouse was located in? LC is a pretty big place. And who knows - maybe it was in Paradise, PA, Intercourse, PA, or Bird-in-Hand, PA ? Almost forgot Blue Ball, PA, Gap, PA and Safe Harbor, Pennsylvania.
• Pink Sheets is linked to 3 times. Twice in a row. The sentences are confusing, a stock is not really traded on the Pink Sheets, only listed.
• I'd like to know what percentage of the stock is outside family hands, though this info is prob. not available.
• Some of the stuff about lawsuits in the 1930's and 1944 is not relevant, but all the lawsuits with Hershey Foods are.
• Something more about the family from the Mount article would be good.
• Moose Tracks is pretty famous, at least locally, though I see it doesn't have its own article yet!

I'll come back and do a more thorough review, but it will likely be minor stuff that belongs more on this talk page than on the Peer Review page. This is a pretty complete article, perhaps you could try to give it a bit more of a storyline to make it more interesting. But a basic business like this can seem a bit dull to outsiders, and an encyclopedia can only go so far with a storyline. More info on regional competitors might be worthwhile, but all in all it can be made into (at least) a Good Article. Smallbones (talk) 03:10, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Hmmm...so far none of the sources I've found have mentioned the specific city they founded in (or even a specific month or date) :( Hopefully I fixed the Pink Sheets? The template does the linking automatically, and it may not be necessary in teh prose itself). I'm also curious about the stock, but still working on finding more recent history besides the current stuff...New York Times has tons of articles about them, but their online archives are all pay only so having to go through my university to get them either through their e-journal or article request services. :P For now, I've been kind of putting in almost anything I could find for later parsing out of any irrelevant stuff. I'm still trying to find out how the lawsuit in 1944 was resolved, though may be of a more historical note for post war stuff. :)

And agreed...a lot of business articles seem ignored because people think its boring. I'm finding it rather fascinating researching the company myself. "hershey+creamery"#search_anchor has something on the Hershey-Hershey name problem. The book link to Hershey Park and the "Hershey Creamery" to my reading is another confusion, I don't see it as part of the company "Hershey Creamery." • What was the outcome of the violation of price ceiling charge?
• "the company maintained a 6.2 to 1 ratio ..." What is this a ration of?
• Under "Business model" it would be good to introduce some dates, eg "as of" so that regardless of when the article is read, the reader will be oriented as to the time when this information was true.

Otherwise, the article is very well done.

So far, I haven't been able to find the outcome of that. Would it be better to remove it until a source can be found with the conclusion? Since it happened in 1944, I think it is best to remove it if there is no outcome. Also, the company's president etc. is current as of 2009? —Mattisse (Talk) 20:31, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Price issue

The following was removed from the article until its conclusion can be found:

The Office of Price Administration filed suit against Hershey Creamery Company on January 31, 1944 alleging that the company had sold milk for 18-cents a gallon above the price ceiling that was in place on milk at the time. The suit asked for $236,250 in damages.
