Europe's Norwegian band members edit

i guess some of you havent realised about Europe's band members being from Norway also, which is not a mythical place of some kind

Therefore Europe is a Swedish/Norwegian band - val hallen —Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.72.133.176 (talk) 17:12, 24 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Synth Metal? edit

  • Because of the frequent use of keyboards especially in The Final Countdown, shouldn't Europe be considered a synth/space rock band (just like Whitesnake, who also was a glam metal band that often used synth)? -- Wolfinator-x —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.59.126.254 (talk) 20:23, 24 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

whitesnake dont sound like glam metal, but glam rockVal hallen (talk) 15:43, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hell, upon more listening, this band could be called power metal or traditional metal! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wolfinator-x (talkcontribs) 04:12, 18 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

All or Nothing edit

  • I have this album called 'All or Nothing', but there's no information about it's existence here or on the Europe's official webpage. WTF? -- Cannibal
  • Well I know that All Or Nothing is the first song on Europe's 1991 album Prisoners In Paradise, so maybe you have a single of that song? - Station82o
  • All or Nothing is a 'Greatest Hits' compilation. There are numerous Europe compilations available. I've chosen to list only the compilations that the band members themselves have put together - 1982-1992, its reissue 1982-2000, and Rock the Night. - Aphasia83 18:09, 14 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

categorizing edit

  • I don't think Europe should be categorized as a glam metal band, because they are not. They should be called a melodic hard rock band- ~~Aishah Bowron~~

I agree they are not the best example of a glam metal band, but you have to consider they have been influenced by glam metal. Remember glam metal is not only about make-up and glittering clothes. If you consider songs like Girl from Lebanon or Danger on the Track, you can hear glam metal influences in them. They are very melodic in all their songs though, I can see your point. I think it is right to keep genres as they are now, keeping hard rock, heavy metal and glam metal.FateForger (talk) 17:50, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

1982-1992 edit

  • I recently purchased Europe's greatest hits 1982-1992 and in the booklet, the band claims to have scored two #1 singles in the United States with songs "Carrie" and the "Final Countdown". This is from the album cover and they said that scored four top 20 singles form the album, The Final Countdown. I'm reading the booklet from the album. The band claimed to have scored two American #1 singles- Jason
  • I'm reading the 1982-1992 booklet right now, and it does claim that "Carrie" was number 1 in the US, and that the Final Countdown album scored four Top 20 singles. This is not true, however. "Carrie" was number 3, and "The Final Countdown" was number 8. The two other singles, "Rock the Night" and "Cherokee" were number 30 and number 72 respectively. - Aphasia83 21:05, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • I disagree with you. I just read the booklet and Europe had two #1 singles with both Carrie and The Final Countdown and that they scored four top twenty singles. I agree with the booklet.- Jason
  • I still believe that the booklet is accurate. After all, you don't believe me when I said that Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar on me was a number #1 and Love Bites only peaked at #2. Besides, after the controversy with the book, A Million Pieces, we all know that books can be wrong.- Jason
  • What? I can't remember talking to you about Def Leppard's chart positions, you must have mistaken me for someone else. - Aphasia83 19:19, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • I'm sorry- Jason

Le baron boys edit

  • I put a mergeto tag on Le baron boys, even if you folks don't want to use the material please at least mention it somewhere and redirect so that no-one remakes the article. Kappa 13:06, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Wow, I didn't know there was a Wikipedia page for Le Baron Boys. Thanks for letting me know. I'll be sure to mention it in the Europe article. - Aphasia83 19:22, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Europe being a power metal band edit

Absolutely ridiculous, it sounds nothing like power metal. Can anyone cite it? Psychomelodic (people think User:Psychomelodic/me edit) 11:22, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

They wern't power metal but they were really influential to the genre.

Sales figures for Final Countdown edit

The article currently states that The Final Countdown sold about seven million copies. The actual page for the album states that it was certified 3x platinum, which would put it at 3 million copies. I'm going to change the figure to 3 million unless sources can be found. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matt Gerber (talkcontribs) 07:26, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

why do you care so much about Europe's album sales, it is not a big issue and nobody cares —Preceding unsigned comment added by Val hallen (talkcontribs) 15:13, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Heavy Metal? edit

Heavy metal needs to be removed from the info box. Europe isn't really a heavy metal band, glam metal can probably stay, but heavy metal should be removed. 68.102.235.239 (talk) 15:32, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

the final countdown is the most well-known symphonic metal song edit

europe's most famous song - the final countdown emphasizes mainly on keyboards and therefore should be considered as a symphonic metal song. the sound of this particular song has resemblence to American Cyborg Steel Warrior's theme song which is also symphonic metal i.e focusing mainly on key boards —Preceding unsigned comment added by Val hallen (talkcontribs) 13:58, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

For a start, you are talking only about one song, and this is not enough. Secondly, the presence of keyboards in a song does not mean it is symphonic metal at all. Lots of Scandinavian bands (a good example is Treat) make a heavy use of keyboards in their songs though having little or nothing to do with symphonic metal. Moreover, you are talking about your opinions and your musical tastes, without providing any reliable sources. I hope these reasons are enough to explain why Europe are not symphonic metal. FateForger (talk) 17:11, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

at least you can mention in the genre of "the final countdown" (song) article that it is symphonic metal also, forget the band what about the song?Val hallen (talk) 17:19, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think I have been clear. The song itself is not symphonic metal at all, and the fact keyboards play an important role in it is not relevant. Finally, you must provide a reliable source for what you say. FateForger (talk) 18:45, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

why dont you give an example of a symphonic metal song, may be i am ignorantVal hallen (talk) 13:16, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

There is no need for such thing, and I am not saying you are ignorant. I am sure you are not, but this is not the point. Personal opinions do not matter here. FateForger (talk) 14:04, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

it was mentioned in VH1's documentary, HEAVY:The True Story Of Metal that 'The Final Countdown' is symphonic metal, regarding the fact whether keyboards should be included in metal music.Val hallen (talk) 14:41, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

listening to Europe's music first then think about adding sources edit

what kind of sources do we need ,is it YouTube?Val hallen (talk) 17:29, 4 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Val hallen (talkcontribs) 17:28, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

No, I am not talking about youtube. Just check this link: Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. FateForger (talk) 18:46, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

This is not relevant. Provide reliable sources. Glam metal is already included.FateForger (talk) 18:54, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

this is only one particular song, why are you taking this matter so seriously, are you a musician?.ok i will try to find reliable sources Val hallen (talk) 13:13, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Europe's Blues Metal songs edit

Europe's song Seven Doors Hotel is MELODIC thrash metal also edit

It is not. Provide sources. it is Power Metal FateForger (talk) 18:54, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

it is you havent heard the song properly, the drumming style of this song by Tony Reno shows similarities to drumming style of Megadeth, which is a thrash metal band.and will provide sources definitely.Val hallen (talk) 13:30, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

i am assuming that you are a musician may be i shouldnt mess with you.Val hallen (talk) 13:24, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Being a musician or not is not relevant. I do not have an obsession for any band, so please stop making impolite insinuations and keep in mind Wikipedia:Civility. The user I mentioned ended up blocked for a short period of time since he did not back up his edits with sources. Anyway, please provide them, I am curious to see them. FateForger (talk) 13:55, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

you are taking this silly matter seriously why? what do you mean by being a musician is not relevant? . I think it would be only right if musicians edit articles regarding musiciansVal hallen (talk) 14:24, 7 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Val hallen (talkcontribs) 14:18, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

this is probably one particular song by europe which is MELODIC thrash metal , and not the band Val hallen (talk) 14:29, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

You are free to think whatever you want. This is not a silly matter at all, but this is not the place to talk about how we think Wikipedia should be. I will not tell you whether I am a musician or not, and I am not going to reply any more unless you back up what you say. FateForger (talk) 14:36, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Circumstances of early 90s split edit

"After ten years of living, recording, and touring together, Europe decided to take a break at the end of the 1992 tour" —that gracefully glosses over the fact that they had failed to get their record contract with Epic/Sony renewed, or get another major label to sign them, for that matter. They never managed to return to their earlier level of success, and "hair" bands were laughed at anyway in the wake of grunge. I don't have a source at hand, but this was widely reported at the time. Overall the style of the article is a bit too fanboy-ish.-- Jimmy Fleischer (talk) 18:56, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Constant changes of musical genres edit

This is a constant problem in the pages of Wikipedia that addresses bands of rock and metal. Most changes occur in pages bands of hard rock and heavy metal. Both genders are very similar and can confuse the listener. Any such change must collect support from trusted sources. Thanks!--Fran1996 (talk) 09:24, 5 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

The song entitled "Six, two, eight" was performed by a band also named Europe but this is not the same band as mentioned in this article.
