A word to the contributor edit

Good work, but just a minor point. WP:MOS asks that references/footnotes be put after punctuation, rather than before. I have changed the first few. SGGH ping! 16:54, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm not a writer so if you think I'm wrong feel free to ignore me, also I haven't checked which bits you wrote, but things they come to mind:

  • I don't like 1st ODI/3rd Test, numbers should be spelt out (first/third).
    • Agree, I'll change those with the references, next edit. Harrias (talk) 07:06, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Numbers under ten should be spelt.
  • "At 6ft 5in, Caddick was a successful bowler for England for over a decade" That seems a strange choice of connected statements, was he not so successful when he was six foot four inches ;)
    • I completely agree, its a horrible sentence. It was part of the original lead before I touched the article, I just haven't done anything major to the lead yet. Personally I want to expand the article and know everything about the subject before I can decide what is notable enough to go in the lead. I might try and put a half fix up at some point soon. • "He shone on the tour, and went into the following season with a lot of confidence." That needs a reference or should be removed.
    • I'll reword / remove / reference. Harrias (talk) 07:06, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • "He thus travelled to his native New Zealand with a point to prove" To me that phrase makes it sound more like a newspaper than a encyclopedia.
    • There is this article which uses the phrase so it could actually be alright once cited.
      • I'll reword / remove / reference. Harrias (talk) 07:06, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • "he seemed to take it with an aggressive streak to his game" Is there a ref for his aggression or is it based on the fact he took wickets?
    • Not sure what I based that sentence on, or even if I wrote it! Will look into it, and as above reword / remove / reference. Harrias (talk) 07:06, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

    • Hello there i saw a request for ideas for this page. Well i remember reading many articles about the Gough / Caddick attack perhaps being the best in the world at the time (post Akram + Younis). In tandem these two were deadly, ripping through teams together, Pakistan and West Indies most memorably. Just a thought. (Scopey123 (talk) 15:22, 10 September 2009 (UTC))Reply
