Cyril Michael Hetsko, M.D. moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Cyril Michael Hetsko, M.D., is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) In addition, there appears to be a WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 11:39, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I am not paid for this article. :) Dr. Hetsko is a distant relative. The article was written with a contribution of his sister Cindy and information I have gained from American Medical Association (his BIO). I have personal knowledge about about his life from discussions with him and spending time with him in the past. I hope this helps with your review. thank you. Hi, thank you. I have a question thought. The sources, that I have availabe are pdfs, personal knowledge, information from his family, bio from AMA, how can I use it? thank you. based on his active years, it is difficult to find sources online. Zuzilicious (talk) 13:13, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi, unfortunately personal knowledge, family interviews, private archives, and similar materials are not acceptable; we can only accept published sources ('published' meaning made available to the general public, and remaining so).
The sources don't have to be online (see WP:OFFLINE for advice on using offline sources), nor do they have to be in English. They do, however, have to be reliable, independent, and ideally secondary sources.
HTH, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:18, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I've moved this back to drafts, for two reasons:
  1. Firstly, the article is almost entirely unreferenced, with the first citation appearing way down in the 'Education' section. This is a clear violation of WP:BLP, which requires inline citations of reliable published sources supporting each material statement, anything potentially contentious, and all private and personal details, in articles on living people (which includes the recently-deceased).
  2. You have stated that the subject is a relative of yours, which means you have a conflict of interest (COI) and are therefore not allowed to publish this directly, but must instead go through the AfC review process.
Please do not move this into the main article space yourself. Thank you, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:14, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Understood. As far as COI goes, I am like fifth cousin born in Slovakia, but OK.
I have added citations.
So you mentioned I should not move it the main article space, so I assume I should address this with you?
It is my first wiki article, obviously, and English is my second language, so.... thank you for your patience. Zuzilicious (talk) 14:32, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
When you feel the draft is ready, you can submit it for review by clicking that blue 'resubmit' button, no need to let me know. Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:51, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I will now move the draft. I hope it is acceptable now. Thank you in advance. Zuzana Zuzilicious (talk) 12:49, 28 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Just to remind you, I did not say you should move the draft into the main space when you feel it is ready, but rather that you should submit it for review. Given your relationship with the subject, and therefore your COI, you should not be publishing this directly yourself. Thank you, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:18, 29 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Notability

edit

Hi again,

Having re-read the Cyril Michael Hetsko draft, I feel I need to also bring up the question of notability, which is a key requirement for inclusion in the encyclopaedia.

The most common way of establishing notability is by citing multiple independent and reliable secondary sources providing significant coverage of the subject, per the general notability guideline WP:GNG. However, the sources cited in this draft are mostly primary, and many are papers etc. authored by the subject himself. None of these contribute towards notability. The Madison obit seems to be the only one that satisfies the GNG standard, and it alone isn't enough.

There are also some special notability guidelines, such as WP:NPROF for academics, or WP:ANYBIO for biographies of people who have achieved extraordinary things. However, I didn't see anything in the draft that would obviously satisfy either of these, but if you do wish to make a case for this, you need to clearly demonstrate which of the many possible criteria is met, and what evidence there is to support such an assertion.

Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:49, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:CMH WisMed.pdf

edit

A tag has been placed on File:CMH WisMed.pdf requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.wismed.org/Wisconsin/wismed/News/medigram/2022-medigram/november-17-2022.aspx#Story9. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.   Hello Zuzilicious! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 02:38, 29 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Copypaste move

edit

It seems you have copypasted the Hetsko draft into an article in the main space. This is a very bad idea, as it loses the draft's edit history, as well as creating various other problems. Please do not do that again. Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 19:58, 29 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

ok, thank you Zuzilicious (talk) 20:25, 29 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
