Miss Multiverse page deleted

Greetings, you have a very nice wikipedia page and profile... congrats!!!

I have a frustrating issue here... I have created the page Miss Multiverse, it was deleted once before about a year ago, i don´t understand why if it has all the right references, no use of promotion, just facts, there are even winners of miss universe that have participated in Miss Multiverse whom have profiles on wikipedia... and its still deleted as if this beauty pageant does not exist.

There are many smaller beauty pageants listed on wikipedia, we are just not able to comprehend why this is happening, it almost feels as if enthusiasts or supporters of other pageants are deleting this one, it takes time to learn how to use wikipedia and frustrating to see someone just come and delete it.

I will appreciate your help enormously, if you would kindly take a look and figure out a solution.

Best regards,

Jose Cuello (talk) 14:21, 13 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Your article (Miss Multiverse) was deleted on 13 September 2013 following an wp:articles for deletion discussion. The discussion is kept here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miss Multiverse. The main reason the article was deleted is the lack of wp:Notability. One of the main rules of Wikipedia is that only subjects that are notable enough may have Wikipedia articles. The notability of the subject is proved by citing multiple reliable sources that significantly cover the subject (see: WP:42). That is the only way to prove notability. It is not important whether the pageant is big or small, and who participated, but whether there are reliable independent sources that significantly cover the subject. Your article currently does cite some sources, but I can't see what the situation was in September 2013. That version probably did not cite sources, or the sources were not reliable. Again, I can't see how the article looked liked before it was deleted, so I can't be sure. Vanjagenije (talk) 20:03, 13 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
As far as I see, the article is safe now, as the speedy deletion proposal was contested, and the administrator did not speedy delete. Vanjagenije (talk) 20:06, 13 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nominations

You mass use speedy deletion templates in articles by User:Appletreer. But, user Appletreer is not blocked and also articles (like as Aeroport_(Metrovalencia) etc) do not meet any requirements for speedy deletion (articles meet the standards, so). Please reverted your edits, if you want delete these articles, please use Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Subtropical-man talk

Hi! Yes, I know, he is not blocked (yet). Blocked users cannot create articles, so it is clear that he is not blocked. But, he is an obvious sockpuppet of User:Pumpie who is blocked indefinitely. A sockpuppet investigation is open (Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Pumpie) and he will be blocked very soon. I am aware that I should wait for the investigation to be closed before invoking G5, but this is a very well known sockmaster, with dozens of proven socks. His behavior is easily recognized, so I tagged those articles in advance. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:01, 15 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
If user vandalises pages - ok, quickly reverts but this user not vandalises pages. There is no justification to use "speedy delete" templates before end of sockpuppet case. Also, G5 say: "... and which have no substantial edits by others". Part of these articles have been corrected by others. Subtropical-man talk

Speedy Deletion of Protecting African Lions

Dear Vanjagenije

Protecting African Lions PAL is a high profile charitable organisation with multiple celebrities involved including Conor Mccreedy and Rohan Marley, son of Bob Marley.

This organisation is not different to:

1. Save the rhino - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Save_the_Rhino 2. Save the Elephant - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Save_the_Elephants 3. Project Elephant - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Elephant 4. etc 5. etc

The list goes on of similar projects that all have wikipedia pages, why is PAL not in the same category? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michael J Palmer (talkcontribs) 11:04, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! The whole problem with your article is WP:Notability. In Wikipedia, only notable subjects may have articles. Notability is proven by citing reliable independent sources that significantly cover the subject (see: WP:42). At the moment when I tagged the article for speedy deletion ([1]), it did not cite any sources, nor did the article explain why the subject is notable (it did not contain so-called WP:Credible claim of significance). Other articles you mention (Save the Rhino, Save the Elephants, Project Elephant) all cite reliable sources, and that is the difference. Vanjagenije (talk) 11:38, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Talk back 2014 Kuala Lumpur

Hi! Well, Del Potro, Raonic and Nishikori are the only confirmed players to play in the tournament (the defending champion Sousa could also be there but there's no reliable source to use), and since they are the only ones, they have to be seeds at the moment. But no, there's really no source on seeds three months before the tournament. JoseRodil25 (talk) 09:26, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

So, as there are no sources, that information has to be removed. Wikipedia only accepts verifiable information (see: WP:Verifability). By the way, tournament seeds are always announced few days before the tournament, so there is no way to know seeds for a tournament three months in advance. Those three players are the only confirmed players as of today, but there will be much more players, and we cannot know how they are going to be seeded. WP:Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. Wikipedia only accepts verifiable, sourced information. Vanjagenije (talk) 09:31, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of John Timlin

Hi Vanja,
I am a drama undergraduate at Flinders University Adelaide and my current research is in the area of Australian New Wave drama from the late 60s into the early 80s. I apologize for my clumsy first efforts on this page and have since polished up the page. Let me know if it is of a more acceptable standard.
I'd like to also make you aware that as my current paper is on the Australian Performing Group which was responsible for a tremendous shift in Australia's theatre and thus influenced our nation's future culture and psyche that I'll be expanding on the pages Australian Performing Group, La Mama Theatre (Melbourne), The Pram Factory, Jack Hibberd, Kerry Dwyer, John Romeril, Graeme Blundell, Alex Buzo, Kris Hemensley, Barry Oakley, Bill Garner, Bruce Spence and their collective works. I'll continue to read wiki entry tutorials and endeavour to strengthen my encyclopedic style. Thank you for your moderation.

SirJulio (talk) 12:10, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I proposed your article (John Timlin) for deletion because the WP:BLP policy says that every article about a living person has to cite at least one reliable source. The article did not cite any source at the moment I tagged it for deletion. As I see, you added some references, so it is OK now. The article still needs to be categorized (see here how to do that: Help:Category). The article is also an WP:Orphan (there are no links from other articles to that one), so it needs to be WP:DE-ORPHANed. Otherwise, it looks good. Feel free to edit other articles, but remember to always cite wp:reliable sources because of the wp:verifability. Vanjagenije (talk) 18:39, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Regarding deletion of images

Hi,

Thank you for notifying me about how my 3 uploaded images regarding the Risk Everything campaign are under violation of Wikipedia rules. However, I would like to draw to your attention that these images, released by Nike, Inc. are copyrighted but are part of their promotional press kit which is meant for free usage by media and publications, including encyclopedias. How do I remove the Violation tag from the image?

Thanks-/--NAIRMayukh 15:09, 22 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! First of all, you have to understand Wikipedia's rules regarding copyrights. Wikipedia accepts only images, files, and text that is in the public domain or is freely licensed. Freely licensed file means that the author agrees that anybody can use the file for any purpose (including commercial use) under certain limitations (share-alike and attribution). Otherwise, if a file is not in the public domain, and not freely licensed, it is called non-free. Wikipedia allows uploading non-free files only in limited, strictly defined cases (so called "fair use"). Now, the images you uploaded are not freely licensed. Author (copyright holder) allows for them to be used in encyclopedia, but he does not allow for them to be used by anybody for any purpose, so they are still non-free. So, you may upload such files only under strictly defined fair use criteria (See: WP:NFCCP). All ten criteria have to be fulfilled in order to use non-free file in Wikipedia. You did not fulfill critera No. 3 (minimal usage) by uploading three images of the same subject. And, you also did not fulfill critera No. 8 (contextual significance) because there is no need to have images of the advertisement campaign if we can tell all about it in words.
So, in short, if the author agrees to allow an image to be used in Wikipedia, that is not enough, that image is still non-free. Wikipedia only accepts images that are in public domain (no copyrights) or those that are freely licensed (author agrees that anybody can use for any purpose). All other images are non-free, and can be used only under fair use criteria, but those images you uploaded do not fulfill those criteria. You can learn more about Wikipedia's copyrights policies here: WP:CFAQ. Feel free to ask me if you need some more help. Vanjagenije (talk) 15:30, 22 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Gann Church article improvement

Hello Vanjagenije, regarding the Gann Church article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gann_Church) I made a first start, but there is indeed little information available on the internet about the church. I do have a photo of the church made on my holiday trip and the information I put in the article about the church is from an information-sign nearby the church. So I want to update the article at least with a photo of the church.

Hi, Tjeerdnet! First of all, you should sign every post you write on a talk page (see here: WP:SIGN). You are welcome to add a photo to the article, if you are the author of the photo. You should upload your photo to the Wikimedia Commons. Commons is Wikipedia's sister project made for uploading free files (like images, videos and so). You can upload the photo using Commons' upload wizard (here). When you upload the photo, you can easily include it into the article. You can read here how to insert a photo into the article: Help:Files. Vanjagenije (talk) 20:05, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello Vanjagenije, I added a picture of the church ruin to the page. It is very difficult to find any online resource about this church ruin. Tjeerdnet (talk) 20:30, 22 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

The photo is very nice! You can try to find some sources using there: Wikipedia:List of online newspaper archives, List of academic databases and search engines, List of digital library projects. Vanjagenije (talk) 20:36, 22 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Propos Marjan Vahdat article deletion

Apologies for any ignorance since I am quite new, the english article Marjan Vahdat is a straight translation of the preexisting french article by the same name at https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahsa_Vahdat --sourceless and all. I'll be more careful to be sure things are verifiable in future. Stevenwestwork (talk) 23:56, 22 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! First of all it is not allowed to translate articles from French Wikipedia to the English one without attributing original authors, since it would be a copyright infringement. You can learn more about translating articles here: Wikipedia:Translation. Second, I do not really understand how is it possible to translate French article on Mahsa Vahdat into English article on Marjan Vahdat, since Mahsa and Marjan are two different persons ([2])!? French Wikipedia and English Wikipedia are two completely independent projects. If an article exists in French Wikipedia, it does not mean that there has to exist the same article in English Wikipedia. Your article (Marjan Vahdat) is tagged for deletion because the WP:BLPPROD policy says that biography of a living person may be proposed for deletion if it does not have any reliable sources. Your article has only one source ([3]), but that source is written by Mahsa Vahdat & Marjan Vahdat themselves, so it is certainly not reliable. Vanjagenije (talk) 14:31, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! You uploaded a photo to Wikimedia Commons (File:Kaif & Rahman on the premire 2.jpg). Commons only accepts photos that are either in the public domain or that are freely licensed. The photo you uploaded was already uploaded here more than four years ago, and with the copyright tag. Now, if you are the copyright holder, you'll have to prove it and to send your permission to the Commons:OTRS team. If you are not the copyright holder, then you'll have to obtain permission from the copyright holder and to send it to the Commons:OTRS team. When you do that, the photo may be un-deleted. Hi! First of all the source was not cited. Second, the official web site of the subject of the article is not an independent source, and Wikipedia needs reliable, independent sources (see: WP:42). Wikipedia's WP:TRIVIA guideline also says to avoid creating "lists of miscellaneous information" in the articles, and your "Interesting facts" section was just that. Vanjagenije (talk) 14:06, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion contested: Health World Inc.

Hello Vanjagenije. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Health World Inc., a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 23:42, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Also contested/declined, the speedy tag on Baron du Potet. I was going to leave a note saying just that, but glancing over this talk page I see that you are probably too quick on the draw a bit too frequently. Please slow down. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 04:22, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • How do you mean quick? I tagged "Baron du Potet" for deletion more then 3 hours after it was created, and at that moment it looked like this. What exactly was wrong with that deletion request? Vanjagenije (talk) 08:19, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • I believe it makes a credible assertion of importance. "Quick" here wasn't about time between creation and tagging, but rather about time invested. This is what Google Books has (well, my Google Books; don't know if you see the same), and the very first hit is Eliphas Levi's The History of Magic, "Among those who are devoted to magnetism it is therefore important to know who are in earnest. Among these, M. le Baron Du Potet must be placed in the front rank, and his conscientious work has already done much to advance the science". That's what I mean.

Speedy deletion is a special process which circumvents, sometimes, community-sourced discussion. You did not do a good job seeing if the claim to importance could be verified or not; if you had run into a lazy admin this could have been deleted, and the Baron surely is notable. See also User_talk:Bbb23#Baron_Dupotet and User_talk:Yngvadottir#Baron_du_Potet, where you'll see that fortunately Bbb23 is a conscientious kind of guy. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 16:16, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Which part of the article exactly made a credible assertion of importance? That he was a baron, that he was a homeopathic physician, or that he wrote two books? Non of those sound as important to me. Vanjagenije (talk) 18:37, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Maybe the combination of all of them, with a claim to a reference, plus the article on another wiki, a ton of Google Book hits, and that it was contributed by a good-faith editor? But look at it the other way around. You nominated for speedy deletion, it was declined, editors picked up the ball, we have an article on a subject whose notability is unquestionable. That it was a poorly written/verified stub is not great, but in hindsight, Bbb was right to decline. And that is why those who nominate for speedy deletion should really, really, look a bit further than just the bare facts of the article; they should do some work based on what can be inferred or easily gathered.

I'm an admin. It is my job to decline or accept such a nomination. It behooves me, as it behooves the nominator, to do some of that legwork. Not because we want to pat someone on the back, necessarily, and forget all about rookie mistakes or infelicities, but because that makes our project better. I am happy to report that I learned this (in whole or in part) from the master, DGG. Drmies (talk) 04:51, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Let me ask you: how would you feel if someone, early on in your wiki career, had nominated Dok čekaš sabah sa šejtanom for speedy deletion? this doesn't make a credible claim of assertion, one might argue--and the article still lacks basic verification for the facts that can make it notable, so if someone cites WP:NALBUM and redirects it to the band, you might not have a leg to stand on. Anyway, if you had seen that nominated for deletion, and it was in fact deleted, you might have quit. Drmies (talk) 04:57, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes, I agree with you. You were right when you declined speedy deletion. I know that I made a mistake. I am doing a new pages patrol almost every day, and I tag many articles for speedy deletion. Almost all of them get deleted, but of course, I make some mistakes. I think it is not possible to do such a job without making mistakes. But, I just propose articles for deletion, so if I make a mistake, the administrators are there to decline it. And every time I make a mistake, some of the administrators are there to tell me that I should stop doing patrol. I fell kind of stupid. I patrol hundreds of article, and then, just because of few mistakes, someone tells me to stop. Vanjagenije (talk) 09:05, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Everyone makes mistakes. I don't think anyone is telling you to stop--just to be careful. I'll give you an example from way back when: [4]. I corrected myself in my next edit, and the article made it to DYK. Drmies (talk) 14:50, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I made some pretty stupid errors also at the start. In fact, I still sometimes make errors--it is very difficult to do better than 98 or 99%, and although there are some people here who claim to be perfect, I've don't really believe them. DGG ( talk ) 16:28, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sairam3133770147 (talkcontribs) 12:01, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! You should leave your posts at the bottom of the talk page, not on the top. That is the reason I'm answering so lately. And you should sign every post (see here how to do it: WP:SIGN). Wikipedia articles need to relay on reliable, independent sources that significantly cover the subject (see WP:42 for more information). What you added to the "Giridhar Murali" article are not reliable independent sources that significantly cover the subject. Your source [5] is just a photo of the subject, no coverage at all. Another source ([6]) just mentions him, but there is no significant coverage. [7] and [8] are just lists of results, no significant coverage. [9] just mentions him, without significant coverage either. If you want the article to avoid being deleted, you'll have to cite real sources, and to cite them properly. Your style of citations looks very messy. Learn here how to cite sources properly: WP:CITE. Vanjagenije (talk) 18:48, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dear Vanjagenije, I don't care if it is properly cited. Just go in and fix it for me. I am becoming very impatient, so get back to me after fixing it. This is extremely important. thanks???.?.? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sairam3133770147 (talkcontribs) 20:12, 26 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Oh, sorry, but that is not the way Wikipedia works. You should not expect that somebody else do your job, that is very impolite. Wikipedia's WP:BURDEN policy says that "the burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds [...] material". That means that you, as the author of the article, are the one who should add sources to the article. If you feel that this person is important, than you have to prove that he is important by citing reliable sources. If you don't know how to cite, you can learn it here: WP:REFBEGIN and here: WP:INTREF. I can help you if you have any problem, feel free to ask me. But, please, do not expect me to do your job. By the way, you did not sign your post, again. See here how to sign: WP:SIGN. Vanjagenije (talk) 20:47, 26 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

The thing is, I really don't understand what is wrong after reading your message. I would reallyappreciate it if you would be able to edit it for me even though it is against that stupid policy. This is a very important subject, and quite frankly, what right do you have to tell me if I am polite or not. Just get it done, now!!!! They are not paying you to slouch around all day. Pick up the slack and do your job.

P.S., the next time i login and see that it is nit fixed, I will call the manager and you will be given consequences

Dear Sairam3133770147, you obviously do not understand how Wikipedia works. Wikipedia is a volunteer service. That means that we are all volunteers here, and volunteers are not payed. Wikipedia is a community of volunteer editors, and editors are all equal. There are no managers or bosses of any kind. I do not believe you that you even read what I've written. I wrote you two times to sign your posts, but you did not sign again. The whole point is that I do want to help you and any other inexperienced editor, but I simply do not want to do your job instead of you. Vanjagenije (talk) 19:40, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello!

Dear Vanja, I have one important question for you. Could you, please, look up on certain pages like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FK_Hajduk_Kula than sport chapter on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kula,_Serbia and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stadion_Hajduk because, those pages are in the last few weeks, often targeted by vandals. Especially vandals with those IP addresses 195.88.12.94 and 188.2.224.85 I don't know why they keep vandalising fk Hajduk Kula pages, but it is obvious that editors and admins have to react. There is a similar problem on serbian wiki redaction, also with fk Hajduk Kula page https://sr.wikipedia.org/sr/%D0%A4%D0%9A_%D0%A5%D0%B0%D1%98%D0%B4%D1%83%D0%BA_%D0%9A%D1%83%D0%BB%D0%B0 , and serbian admins decided to disable anonymous users to change content for a month. If we look up on history pages and see often content changes and erasing references, it is clear that admins and editors on english Wiki, have to rise up some sanctions.

Best wishes(Ajdukovac (talk) 02:14, 30 June 2014 (UTC))Reply

Hi! I really don't have time right now to investigate this case. But, if you are sure that those are cases of vandalism, you should use WP:REQPROTECT and ask for semi-protection of the article. Vera Bartsch

Hi Vanjagenije, thank you for your recommendations and critiques of the page that I've created. I recognize the obstacles that you've pointed out, and I know that they're pretty significant. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find more relevant, reputably published content about the subject. Since the subject is a model and those links directed to published examples of her work, I thought that they would count as independent sources. (Though they were photos from magazine editorials, each did give her credit for posing for them, which I thought counted as verification of her experience in publication.) Thanks again for your input. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karenwriter (talkcontribs) 23:46, 1 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

The Ethiope People

I just wanted to let you know that OBOBO URHOBO has removed the PROD tag on The Ethiope People. Per the proposed deletion rules, I don't believe that you can recreate the tag. However, you can tag it with CSD if it was created in violation of a ban (I do not know the circumstances of this alleged sockpuppet), or nominate it for deletion. Thanks Piguy101 (talk) 18:52, 3 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thanks for the information. Maybe the best way is wait for him to be blocked, and then to nominate the article for speedy deletion under WP:G5 criteria. Vanjagenije (talk) 19:56, 3 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Possible new sock? New user Goldblog created Ossissa, for which the "Notable people" includes an "Egbunu Mogbue". The Ethiope article tried to list "Egbunu Samuel Akporaro", so maybe he's trying for a little more subtlety this time around--I've been doing periodic searches on "Akporaro" looking for new sock sightings, but I happened upon this other article on a more general new page patrol. Maybe not obvious enough to report immediately, but worth keeping an eye on. --Finngall talk 17:02, 7 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi! You've done a very good work here. I agree with you. The Ossissa article looks very similar in layout to the now-deleted The Ethiope People article. Obviously, "Egbunu Mogbue" is non-notable person, Google Search returns no hits [11]. I think I will report this user to the sockpuppet investigation. RE:Child Labor Amendment ratification map

Greetings:
The states of Connecticut, Delaware and South Dakota should be colored in pink on the Child Labor Amendment ratification map, as the legislatures of those states rejected the amendment as well. Drdpw (talk) 18:03, 13 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi! I just followed the text in the article. Those three states' rejection is not mentioned in the article. Do you have any reliable sources which claims that those states rejected the amendment? Vanjagenije (talk) 19:58, 14 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes, and the article has been updated & reliable citation given. Drdpw (talk) 20:44, 14 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I added those states to the map. Vanjagenije (talk) 20:56, 14 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for creating this, I hope you can get round to the other three unratified amendments currently missing a ratification map.Graham1973 (talk) 04:22, 14 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Thank you. Maybe I will make maps for other three when I have more time. Child Labor Amendment was most interesting, because most states ratified it. Other three were ratified by much fewer states. Vanjagenije (talk) 19:58, 14 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Regarding maps for the 3 earlier unratified amendments, I'm not sure that they're needed or would be worthwhile. Only 3 states ratified the long dormant Corwin Amendment, and of those 3, 2 have rescinded their ratification and the 3rd ratification is of questionable validity. Likewise, the Nobility and Apportionment amendments are long dormant and have only been ratified by a relatively few number of states. I know that when I fist saw the map on the D.C. Vote amendment page my reaction was along the lines of "so few states ratified this; so much gray space; what's the point of having a map for this? (except to show how few states ratified it)". Hi Vanjagenij, could you please help me to upload this file? thanks! http://votesmart.org/canphoto/150053_lg.jpg --Preceding unsigned comment left by Fishinpku (talk) 04:34, 16 July 2014

Hi! I'm afraid you don't understand Wikipedia's policy regarding images. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia. That means that all Wikipedia's content (both text and images) should be free for everyone to use it for any purpose. That means that images and text that are copyrighted may be uploaded to Wikipedia only if they are released under a free license. In other words, copyrighted material may be uploaded to Wikipedia only if the author (copyrights holder) explicitly agrees that everyone can use it for any purpose. The image you want to upload is taken from the Vote Smart web page. On their Copyright and Attribution page, they claim that "unless otherwise noted, content Copyright © 2010 Project Vote Smart". That means that Project Vote Smart is the copyright holder of the image, and we need their explicit permission to use the file under a free license in order to be able to upload it to Wikipedia (please, see WP:PERMISSION). Wikipedia does allow uploading copyrighted non-free images in rare cases, that is so called "fair use". But there are strict fair use criteria, and a photo of a living man surely does not fall into that criteria. So, the only way to upload that photo to Wikipedia is to obtain a permission of the copyrights holder to release the photo under free license. You can lear more about Wikipedi's copyright policies here: WP:CFAQ. Please, in the future, leave your posts on the bottom of a talk page (I found this one at the top), and sign all your posts. See here how to sign: WP:SIGN. Feel free to ask me for any kind of help. Vanjagenije (talk) 09:59, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of "List of M.2 SSDs"

I realize the page I created currently lacks information, it's something I'm working on adding, as well as Adding a paragraph of information. There is currently a major need for a central place to look up M.2 SSDs. Try doing a google search for them and you will realize just how little information there is, even for currently available drives. This page is meant to benefit everyone, and I was hoping I could get others to contribute to it instead of rushing to get rid of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DracoDan82 (talkcontribs) 00:07, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I appreciate your desire to write a useful article, but Wikipedia has some rules that must be obeyed. Your article, "List of M.2 SSDs" is proposed for speedy deletion (by me) under WP:A1 criteria, because it lacks context to understand what the article is about. The article was deleted from the main namespaces by User:DragonflySixtyseven (administrator), but it was moved to your user space, so it is located here: User:DracoDan82/List of M.2 SSDs. You have to understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and its articles should be understandable to anybody. The article you've written lacks context, so it is very hard for average reader to understand what the article is about. For example, I have no idea what "M.2 SSD" is. I see you posted the identical article to the Articles for creation project (here: Draft:List of M.2 SSDs). The reviewer declined your submission and told you the same thing I did: Article lacks context. After that, instead of improving article, you posted identical article to the main namespace. That is not very good thing to do. Reviewers at WP:AFC are experienced editors, and if they decline your submission, it really means that the article is not ready to be published. You are free to continue to work on the article (better on the "Draft:List of M.2 SSDs" then on the "User:DracoDan82/List of M.2 SSDs"), and you should wait for the reviewers to accept your submission before moving it to the main namespace. Feel free to ask me for any kind of help that you need. And, please, sign all your posts on the talk pages. See here how to sign: WP: SIGN. Vanjagenije (talk) 00:23, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
So, I'm totally new to creating wiki pages, that was my first attempt. Even though I tried to submit the page to Articles for creation but I thought I had messed up the submission. I wasn't trying to game the system in any way. In fact, if you look at the post times I believe I posted the article under the normal namespace prior to the response on Articles for creation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DracoDan82 (talkcontribs) 22:42, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
OK, you shouldn't feel guilty at all. It is normal for new user to make mistakes in good faith, it happened to everybody. Wikipedia works differently from other sites, so it needs time to understand its policies and guidelines. But, it's fun! You now have two identical articles. If you want, you can request one of them (presumably User:DracoDan82/List of M.2 SSDs) be deleted by posting {{Db-userreq}} at the top of the article code. After that, it will be deleted by an administrator. I left you links to some interesting Wikipedia pages at your talk page, in the "Welcome" section. You should read those carefully in order to understand Wikipedia's ways. I'm not an expert in computer cards, actually I don't know what M.2 SSDs are at all, but I see User:Dsimic left a message on your talk page. You can discuss this topic with him, as he seams to be interested in that area. I hope You'll enjoy editing Wikipedia. Just remember to sign your posts (WP:SIGN)! Hello there! Original Tamil numerals

even though the articles title resembles Tamil numerals,it is different in this article information about old Tamil numeral script is told which shall be expanded.i request you to rethink about the deletion of my article and wait for a few days.

Hi! I understand that your article is about old Tamil numerals, but there is really no need for separate article. You could insert those information in the "Tamil numerals" article. See, for example, the article on Roman numerals: it covers the whole history of the development of Roman numerals. Your article has another, bigger issue. It is totally unsourced. Every article in Wikipedia needs reliable, independent sources to establish verifability (See: WP:42), but your article has none. My advice to you is to try to find sources about old Tamil numerals, and to expand "Tamil numerals" article, there is no need for new article. And, in the future, sign your posts (see here: WP:SIGN). Feel free to ask me for any kind of help. Vanjagenije (talk) 17:16, 18 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Howie Stange

Hello Vanjagenije, I asking asking that the Howie Stange page be allowed to be continued, as I am not completed with my first pass at this effort. Howie Stange was a very popular Rockabilly artist in the '50's and '60's and is in the Rockabilly Hall Of Fame. Additiionally, Howie wrote and sang what is arguably the most popular Rockabilly song of all time, Real Gone Daddy, with B side The Old Bomb Of Mine. Google search of Howie Stange reveals more than 16,000+ hits, making his music noteworthy. Thank you for your consideration.

Hi! I totally believe you that he is notable, but the article is empty at the moment and Wikipedia's WP:A3 policy is to delete empty articles. My advice to you is to create draft article (like Draft:Howie Stange). You can edit the draft as long as you want without the fear of it being deleted. When you feel the draft is ready, you can move it to the main namespace. The original (empty) article will be deleted in the meantime, but don't worry. It is much easier to use draft if you need more time to write the article. And, please, sign your posts in the future (see: WP:SIGN). Vanjagenije (talk) 17:31, 18 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

BEIGE (Retailer) - request for speedy undeletion of speedy deletion

This page should not be speedily deleted because... JonathanFriedmanM (talk) 11:22, 19 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

BEIGE (Retailer) is one of the last of its breed of retailer in the UK. As a niche UK retail category, "Independent plus size retailers" in the UK virtually disappeared during the 2007-2013 global financial recession.

Stepping back up the food chain, plus size brand manufacturer representation in Europe (Dusseldorf was once the global economic hub for plus size independents) is now tiny fraction of its economic former size. As a indicator of the changing shape of the market (pls excuse the pun) the global conference and exhibition for the sector (known as CPD) struggled on for years but finally succumbed to the downturn and closed in 2012. (in its heyday, CPD ran for decades, was attended by 20,000+ across 17 exhibition halls)

There were once 100+ retail outlets in this niche category in the UK. Now there are less than 10. There is no indication that the trend will reverse.

As a historical record of the UK retail "bricks" sector, I believe that we should retain some record that this retail category once existed.

I've been in the sector for 10 years...I'll keep going for maybe another 10 years...by which time maybe the final 10 will go...and this UK niche sector will be history and the only factual record that it ever existed will be with Wiki....and that's what Wiki is for!

PS. I was planning to add a list of all the defunct (ie extinct) manufacturing brands that we used to carry...with a description of their design "signature" as last resting place for their existence.

Hi! First of all, I am not an administrator, so I can not undelete the article. I am just doing new pages patrol, and I proposed the article for deletion. But, it was deleted by User:Alexf (administrator), so he is the only one who can help you in undeleting the article. Try leaving a post at his talk page. regarding emineuweb

The content was not stolen from www.emineuweb.dk as we also happen to be the owner of the site www.emineuweb.dk. We are starting up an organization and we need a wikipedia page. Could you explaine further what seems to be the problem? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wickname (talkcontribs) 01:45, 19 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! There are several problems. The article you posted (Emineuweb) was substantially copy-pasted from site http://www.emineuweb.dk/. At the bottom of that site there is a notification that says "EmiNeuWeb © Copyright 2014. All rights reserved". That means that the contents of that web site are copyrighted without a permission to use it for other purposes. Now, Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia, and it only accepts free content. Wikipedia's content is free to be used by anybody for any purpose. That is why Wikipedia cannot host material that is non-free — that practice would be contrary to the basic principle of Wikipedia. You can learn more about Wikipedia's copyright policies here: WP:CFAQ. In short: Wikipedia only accepts material (text, images,...) that is either in the public domain or released under a free license. The content of your web page (http://www.emineuweb.dk/) is obviously not released under free-license ("All rights reserved" is a non-free license). The fact that you are the copyright owner makes no difference. You cannot release the same content simultaneously under a non-free license at your web page and under a free license at Wikipedia. Content may have only one license, and it is already released under non-free license ("All rights reserved"), so it cannot be hosted at Wikipedia. Another problem is that Wikipedia has very strict rules about people writing articles about their own organization. In Wikipedia terms, that is called a WP:Conflict of interest. One of the main principles of Wikipedia is to be neutral, and it is almost impossible to be neutral when writing about your own organization. Please, read this guide to understand Wikipedia's rules on the Conflict of interest: WP:PLAINSIMPLECOI. In short, it is the best way not to write article about your organization, but to let somebody neutral do that. I hope I helped you to better understand the basic principles of Wikipedia. Feel free to ask me for any kind of help. And please, in the future, leave your posts at the bottom of talk pages, and sign your posts. See here how to sign: WP:SIGN. Deletion

Hi, Vanjagenije. I saw you have tagged my page "List of Welcomers" for deletion. Please don't. My friends need this page. It's a very important page for a community we created and without the page, we won't be able to tell who is who and who is a member of the community.

♥♥LlamaGalAndHerLlamas♥♥

Hi! Unfortunately, your page was deleted. You have to understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Wikipedia is not an address book. Your article had no encyclopedic value, so it was deleted. It just contained list of names, nothing else. You can learn more about what is Wikipedia here: Wikipedia:About. Vanjagenije (talk) 18:23, 19 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

DHHDFHDFHD=

So, Why Don't you answer my question?

Why is you delete my "List of songs recorded by..." pages, but there are other pages like that, List of songs recorded by Nirvana, List of songs recorded by Jay-Z...

Care to elaborate how you decide who is worthy of a "List of songs" article?

I don't see any question. I just see you called me a "fool". I am not deleting your articles, in fact I have no power to delete, only administrators can delete articles, and I am not the one. I just proposed discussion on those articles (that is called WP:AFD) because I think they should be deleted. If other editors do not agree with me, articles would not be deleted. You can join those discussions and post your reasons freely, just try to maintain civility. Vanjagenije (talk) 21:37, 19 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Are you serious? You seriously don't see my question? Are you blind? Why are there other "List of songs" pages you haven't deleted? You only choose to delete.. Oh sorry.. PROPOSE deletion for my pages, that I've spent days creating?

I also don't care WHO is doing it, all I know is there are LOTS of other pages with the same "scope" but I don't see them being "proposed to be deleted".

If you don't care who is doing it, then stop insulting me. You just called me "blind". You were already blocked once for personal attacks against other editors, and believe me, next block will be much longer if you continue to behave like that. WP:OTHERSTUFF is not a valid argument against deletion. The fact that there are other similar articles does not mean that those articles cannot be deleted. And, please, try to learn how to sign your posts. See here: WP:SIGN. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:13, 19 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Lol, okay well I dearly apologize if I've offended you, I didn't realize "blind" was offensive, and I guess I was out of line with the "fool" remark, but regardless I had no sentiment to offend you, I Just asked a very clear and reasonable question that has yet to be answered. Seriously if you could just answer this question, there would be no problem. You don't need to threaten me with your little bans, do you think this is my life? I'm just wondering why those other pages are acceptable I just hope you understand my frustration here. I'm only trying to help with these articles. I know loads of people will find them useful.

Well, some pages are acceptable, some are not. It all depends on the wp:Notability. For example, List of songs by Slipknot and List of songs by My Bloody Valentine were deleted, but List of Rihanna songs was kept. Every case is specific and must be dealt separately. And, please, sign your posts (wp:SIGN). Vanjagenije (talk) 00:27, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wow, still fails to answer the question. Why is Rihanna legible, but not Tupac? How does the almighty wikipedia God make these decisions. So that I know in the future who is worthy

Your recent AFD nominations

I've been noticing quite a few from you recently, including ones I essentially support, but the series of "list of songs recorded by..." stood out. The fact that you listed several about a minute apart makes me concerned that you were nominating simply on the basis of it being a list of songs rather than making an individualized determination. Sometimes those are deleted at AFD (and I have little doubt this will be one of those), sometimes not; see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of songs recorded by Led Zeppelin, for example, or the featured list List of songs recorded by Rihanna (noting that not all of the entries are even notable). Just so long as you're not proceeding on autopilot here, and one should always take caution that if you're only using a hammer everything can look like a nail. Cheers, postdlf (talk) 23:56, 19 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I might agree with you (partly). But, I want to ask you something. I just proposed those articles for a discussion. If there are arguments against deletion from other editors, then those articles would not be deleted. What is the point of you criticizing me just for proposing a discussion? I feel a grate pressure here, because every time I propose WP:AFD discussion for some article that eventually survives, I get criticized. It seams like I can propose AFD only if I am 100% sure that the article is going to be deleted. But, what is then a whole point of having discussion if we're gone propose only those articles that are 100% sure to be deleted? Vanjagenije (talk) 00:08, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
The "discussion" that takes place at AFD is very different than the discussion that takes place at other project pages, such as guideline or wikiproject talk pages. It's more formal, has the expectation (at WP:BEFORE) that the nominator has done some due diligence, requires participation from others, requires a closer after a certain time period, and then has certain binding effects. So it's seen as more coercive in a way, and certainly more aggressive than if you were to just start an open ended thread on a guideline talk page. Someone starts an AFD if they want something deleted and have a reasonable belief that it can and should be deleted after following BEFORE. If all you want to do is pose a question like "hey, I wonder whether these lists are valid, what do you guys think?" then AFD is not the place. A relevant Wikiproject would be far more appropriate. And if you find yourself nominating a lot of AFDs that get closed as "keep", then you should rethink your methods.

But I wasn't trying to criticize necessarily, just to raise the concern that I wasn't sure whether you were nominating these lists of songs for deletion just because they were lists of songs, or because you had made an individual determination for each list that you nominated that that list should be deleted. Can you comment on that specifically? postdlf (talk) 14:52, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ahem! If I may interject here, my good sir. You say you are feeling this pressure. First of all from whom are you feeling this pressure, and second do you not realize that this said "pressure" is self inflicted? Maybe if you were so sensitive to feeling a bit of pressure maybe, you shouldn't've actually created the pressure in the first place. Perhaps you are placing "pressure" upon others. Now you probably do not care, so why should others care if you are feeling "pressure". Good day to you my fine gentleman. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChuckT187 (talkcontribs)

Hello, I'm Vanjagenije. I noticed that you removed a Biographies of Living Persons PROD, from Vadim Istrati, and I wanted to let you know that I have replaced it. Please don't remove these Biographies of Living Persons PRODs from articles unless they contain at least one reliable source or were created before 18 March 2010. For these easy to find references for players, wouldn't it make sense just to add a reference, rather than BLPprodding ... or going straight to a Prod if it's felt that netiher WP:GNG or WP:NFOOTY are met? Nfitz (talk) 15:36, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I don't see how is going to PROD easier than going to BLP PROD. Anyway, the burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds material. Vanjagenije (talk) 15:41, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
The burden may well lay there, but given it wasn't done by that editor, and a 2-second Google search can find a lot of material that verifies the article and existence of the person, it's poor editing to be BLPproding an article, that could just as easily have a reference added - particularly for a case like this that clearly and easily meets WP:NFOOTY. The original point of BLPprod was to provide a clear route to remove articles for which there was no verifiable material. A stunning amount of time has been wasted by the project on this article, that could simply have been avoided if the original nominator or the other 3 occasions in which the prod was reinstated! Nfitz (talk) 16:19, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

WP:BURDEN must be read in connection with WP:PRESERVE and WP:BLPDELETE. The main purpose of BURDEN is to address disagreements as to whether content should be in the encyclopedia, and it doesn't seem that you think this article was a hoax or unverifiable. BURDEN doesn't mean that you get to choose to only apply delete functions and processes to solve all problems. The consequence of PRESERVE and even BLPDELETE as relevant here is that if something is fixable, but you don't want to take the time to help fix it, then you should stay your hand from doing anything at all. Think on my "hammer" comment above; the concept is called law of the instrument. postdlf (talk) 17:13, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Page tagged for speedy deletion

Hi Vanjagenije - You recently tagged a page I created for speedy deletion. The page was for Good4U which is a company based in Ireland. I had just written a couple of lines but was going to write more information (without breaking advertising guidelines) Many companies have articles written about them, what needs to be included or left out in order for it not be considered advertising. Also this company were featured on National UK television last night (July 21st) where they talked about the process of sprouting!

Hi! It is true that there are many companies in Wikipedia, but that does not mean that we should have all the companies in Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and encyclopedias generally do not have articles about all the companies in the World, but only about those that are notable. Wikipedia's has strict definition of "Notability", and it is different from the everyday definition of "notability". In Wikipedia, article must cite several reliable, independent sources that significantly discuss the subject (see: WP:42) in oreder to prove the notability. Otherwise, an article about a company without sources cited might be taken as an example of advertisement. See here how to properly cite sources: WP:CITE. You posted your article directly to the main namespace. The problem with such a practice is that the article went "live" the same moment you clicked the "save" button for the first time. If you need more time to work on the article without fear that it might be deleted, you should write the article in your user sandbox (here User:HisNameIsMark/sandbox), or in the draft namespace (here Draft:Good4U), and then move the article to the main namespace when you think it's ready. And, please, sign your posts. See here how to sign: WP:SIGN. Feel free to ask me for any kind of help you need. Vanjagenije (talk) 10:24, 22 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

A barnstar for you!

  The Original Barnstar
Hello,

I am Mark, an American. I have been contracted by the owner of this account to create an article for him. I am familiar with Wikipedia. The issue you just raised is true and I can't deny that. However, I am working on the reference file and I will avail it soon. My request is that you kindly should not tag "Howie Stange" for deletion. I offered to help because he explained to me how important this page is to him. Otherwise, I am really grateful with your milestones here on Wikipedia! Keep it up buddy :) Steve Stange 10:47, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi! What you are doing here is strictly forbidden. Wikipedia does not allow for the user account to be shared between multiple persons. That is called a role account and is strictly forbidden here. I'm afraid your user account may be blocked soon if you do not immediately stop such a practice. Vanjagenije (talk) 11:14, 22 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have declined your speedy deletion request on خالد ياسين because you chose an invalid criterion. While the article would be eligible if an identical article existed at ar-wiki, this is not the case for the current article. Tagged page

Dear Vanjaenije, I am getting in touch as you have tagged a page I have created for deletion. The page is MAMA VODKA. I don't understand your view on this as it is made as a information on Danish design, innovation and how the spirits industry works with the competitions. After your note, I have looked up other vodka brands from all over the world and I really don't see what the problem is. Pls, explain... Yes, I wanted to link to 'Danish design' and 'list of vodkas', but it was unsuccessful. Mabye, you can help me where to do so...? Thanks Mollysmor (talk) 09:46, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I am doing a new pages patrol. As part of that process, I reviewed your article "Mama Vodka" and proposed it for speedy deletion under the WP:G11 criteria for speedy deletion. The reason the article is proposed for deletion is that it is promotional, not encyclopedic, and as such it is against the WP:SPAM guideline. The reason I think this article is promotional is that it uses peacock terms ("Super Premium Quality") without citing reliable sources to prove this (see more here: WP:WORDS). Wikipedia articles need to cite reliable, independent sources with significant coverage (see: WP:42) in order to establish verifiability and notability. Your article does not cite any reliable sources. In the "References" section there is a link to the official web site of the manufacturer (not an independent source), one broken link [13], and two links to pages that do not even mention Mama Vodka ([14][15]). So, your article promotes the subject using the peacock terms, but does not cite any relibale independent source that discuss this subject. As such, I consider it being a promotional article. Newbie Trying to Do This Right

Hi Vanjagenije - thank you for the cookies! So, about two weeks ago, I built a page for a living author/illustrator, Lauren A. Mills. She's an award-winning, highly regarded veteran of classic picture books and I was surprised there wasn't a page for her already. I created what I believed to be an extremely thorough and well-referenced page. I respected that it would take several days to go live. However, it's been 24 days and now I wonder if I submitted it incorrectly. I would like to reexamine my submission, but now I can't find it. That said, I see that there is a backlog of approving pages like that - perhaps it just hasn't been enough time? Please forgive me, the necessary skills to function within Wikipedia seem to be a little beyond my comfort zone. (To give you an idea of my skills, I taught myself html years ago and am usually moderately capable with complicated programming.) Might you know how I can find the page I was building and tell me if I did indeed submit it correctly or not? I've been digging and reading and trying to understand where it might be or what I might have done incorrectly, but I'm honestly stumped. Thank you in advance for any help you offer. I'm also beginning to think it wasn't a good idea to use my real name. Is that changeable, or should I create a new account? ElizabethDulemba (talk) 00:36, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! If you take a look at your contributions page (Special:Contributions/ElizabethDulemba), there is no such a page you are talking about. "User contributions" page logs all the edits made by an editor, whether accepted or not. But, if you really wrote it, we should be able to find it. it seams that an article titled "Lauren A. Mills" did exist, but it was deleted on 11 April 2008 (see: [16]). I guess that is not the one you are talking about, as that was 6 years ago. Can you, please, answer those questions:
  1. What was the precise title of the article you wrote?
  2. How exactly did you write it? Did you use the Wikipedia:Article wizard or some similar process?
  3. Did you write the article using your current user name (User:ElizabethDulemba), or did you use some different account?
If you want to change the user name, it is not a good idea to create a new account, as the edit history of the old account would be lost. It is better idea to change the username of your account here: Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple. Vanjagenije (talk) 01:15, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Vanjagenije! I called the page "Lauren A. Mills" and I created it in Article Wizard, where I clicked "save" thinking I was submitting it. I've since done some digging that makes me think that wasn't the way to officially submit the article. I did save all the information, so can rebuild it if I have to, but I'd love to solve the mystery! I wrote it under my current user name: ElizabethDulemba, but the more I look around Wikipedia, the more I see very few actual names as authors - so I will probably change it after I figure this out. Does that answer your questions? Thanks so much for your speedy response! ElizabethDulemba (talk) 02:03, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

If you used this username to write the article, then it is either deleted or you did not save it properly. But, even if it was deleted, there should be some trace of it, and I can't find any. It is not important whether you submitted it properly or not. If you clicked "save" it should be logged in Special:Contributions/ElizabethDulemba, but there is nothing. The only logical conclusion is that you did not save it properly. There is a possibility that it was deleted for some reason, but I am not able to see deleted edits because I'm not an administrator. Maybe you can ask some administrator from this list: CAT:RESTORE to look for your article in deleted edits. Vanjagenije (talk) 10:52, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I wanted to propose the article for speedy deletion, but did not want to do that just a minute or two after it was created. Hello!

How can I start a wikiproject?--Keslerdo (talk) 21:28, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! English Wikipedia currently has over 2,000 WikiProjects. You should first search the projects directory (WP:PROJDIR); maybe the project you want to start already exists! If you are sure there is no existing project on the topic, you may propose a new wikiproject. First, you should read the guide to WikiProject organization: WP:PROJGUIDE. After that, you may propose a new project here: WP:WPPRO. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:37, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I did explain why I think that article needs to be deleted here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2014 Vietnamese television schedule. Article lacks sources to establish the notability (please, see: WP:42). There is also a Wikipedia policy called "What Wikipedia is not" which says that Wikipedia is not a TV guide. The existence of other similar articles is not a valid argument against deletion (see: WP:OTHERSTUFF). Vanjagenije (talk) 08:43, 13 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Archer Gray

Hi Vanjagenije! I just wanted to respond to your deletion of the page about Archer Gray that I created. Do you mind if I take another stab at it? I understand that I missed the mark on some of the key elements of encyclopedic style, and think I'm capable of improving on it in a second draft. Just for a little background, the company is managed by two people who have accepted wikipedia pages, and is producing films and investing in companies that all have pages on our site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Willi61028 (talkcontribs) 14:45, 15 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Of course, you can write the article again. But, I strongly recommend you to start the article in the drafts namespace (like: Draft:Archer Gray), and then to move it to the main namespace when you feel it's ready. And, be sure to read this carefully: WP:ORG. It is not the style that is important. The article has to be based on reliable independent sources (see: Wp:42). Isabelle Leymarie biography

Hi, you noticed the Isabelle Leymarie article and asked if I was this person. The answer is 'no'. I'm a 27 designer passionate of Afro-American music. I contacted Isabelle (67 years old with absolutely no Internet skills) to ask her approval for this biography article. She was even happy to provide some pictures of herself to host and share through Wikimedia. Most of the references come from her own book, but I added some. It's sad that this person is internationally famous in this domain but has no visibility online. I hope you will approve the article and don't delete it. THANK YOU for me, and for her :-) Eltacotac (talk) 11:08, 15 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! There are several problems with the article. In Wikipedia, only articles about notable subjects are permitted (see: WP:NOTABILITY). You have to understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, ant it should not have articles about every concept in this world, but only about those that are notable enough for encyclopedia. And, Wikipedia's criteria for notability is the existence of reliable, independent sources with significant coverage of the subject (see: WP:42). If there are reliable, independent sources (books, newspaper articles, trusted internet news portals, etc.) which significantly discuss the subject in detail, then the subject is notable. Otherwise, he is not notable. Articles about non-notable subjects usually get deleted. Your articles cites the books written by Isabelle Leymarie, but those are not independent sources, so they are useless for Wikipedia. You also added some sources that are independent ([17], [18], [19]), but they do not have significant coverage. They just mention her, but they do not discuss her life and work in detail, so those are also useless. You'll have to find and cite some reliable independent sources in order to prove the notability of the subject and to save the article from deletion.
Another problem with the article are photos. Wikipedia only accepts images that are either in the public domain (no copyrights) or those that are released under a free license by the author/copyrights holder. Since the copyrights holder of those photos is Isabelle Leymarie, we need her explicit permission to use those photos under a free license in order to host those photos in Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons. Explicit permission means that she has to send an e-mail to you with the permission to use the photos under a free license. And, "free license" is very important here. If she just sends an e-mail and write "I agree those photos be used in Wikipedia", that is not enough. Wikipedia only accepts images that are released under a free license. That means that the author agrees that anybody may use those photos for any purpose, and may also modify them. Without such a permission, the photos may not be hosted in Wikimedia projects. Those photos will probably be deleted, but if you obtain an explicit permission, they may be un-deleted if you forward the permission to the Commons OTRS team. You also have an example of how the permission e-mail should look like there. I hope i clarified some issues. Feel free to ask me for any kind of help that you need. Vanjagenije (talk) 11:54, 15 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi! Isabelle Leymarie is a real notable writer. She is famous worldwide for her Afro-American Black music expertise and her work is quoted in dozens of books and Wikipedia articles on the topic. I added some more references to show you the importance of her presence on Wikipedia. So please don't delete this article :-)
She sent yesterday a mail for Wikimedia permissions based on the template you provided and it was approved. Thanks!

Nifty erotic Stories Archive

How do I dispute the proposed deletion of this article? It seems to me no different than alt.sex.stories, which no one has proposed for deletion, or even publishers like Random House. What is in dispute? What is the harm done in this article? (It's very discouraging for me to put all this time, which should be obvious, into writing this article, and then to have it end up in the garbage can.) The page [[20]] says to click on a "Contest this Speedy Deletion" button, but I can't find it. deisenbe (talk) 11:25, 24 August 2014 (UTC)!Reply

Hi! The article is not proposed for speedy deletion, it is put into discussion through the WP:AFD process. You can join the deletion discussion which is located here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nifty erotic stories archive. But, be aware. Although it seams to you that this article is "no different than alt.sex.stories", there is a fundamental difference. Every Wikipedia article should cite reliable independent sources to establish the wp:Notability of the subject (see: WP:42). alt.sex.stories cites several reliable independent sources, while your article, Nifty erotic stories archive, does not cite any sources except the NESA site itself (not reliable independent source). Would you please do me the favor of looking at what I posted on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Nifty_erotic_stories_archive#Nifty_erotic_stories_archive and advise me on my best course of action, if further action on my part is needed. I'm relatively new to WP.
You should just wait for the discussion to be closed. It usually lasts for 7 days. Of course, you are free to improve the article while discussion is ongoing. Vanjagenije (talk) 12:52, 24 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
