Vision Dream Series

Hi. I've declined your speedy because you can't use A7 on books, or anything other than people, groups of people, named animals, web stuff and organised events. Products like books have to go to prod (and often AfD after that...). I've prodded this one as it's self-published and I can't find any reliable sources. There aren't all that many unreliable or dependent sources either, as is usual with self-publication. Peridon (talk) 18:21, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Vaakya technology

Ms.pradeep76 (talk) 12:10, 18 December 2013 (UTC) Hello. I had submitted an info page and it seems to be 'going to be deleted'. I have not made any promotional thing in the article. It is just an information provided about the new technology. Can you please guide me what has to be done to retain the page.Reply

Hi! First of all, you should leave comments on the bottom of the talk page, not at the top, as you did. I moved your comment to the bottom. Wikipedia has strict rules against promotion and advertising (see here: WP:Spam). One of the most important concepts of Wikipedia is Wp:Notability. Only things that are notable deserve to have article in Wikipedia (for companies, see: WP:ORG). Notability is established through wp:reliable sources. In other words, you have to prove that the company is notable by citing newspapers, magazines, books, internet news portals, etc. who wrote something about the company (see here how to cite: wp:citations). You wrote the article Vaakya technology, but you did not cite any reliable sources to establish notability. Without establishing notability, the article seams like promotion. You only wrote about the company, but you didn't explain why is the company notable. You can re-write the article to comply with the Notability guidelines, and than you may remove the "speedy deletion" tag from the article. But, do not remove the tag if you don't improve the article! If the article gets deleted, don't worry. You can write it again, and if the second attempt complies to the Wikipedia policies, it will not be deleted again. Feel free to ask me anything you want to know. You can also visit the wp:Teahouse if you want to hear some more opinions from other editors. Vanjagenije (talk) 12:48, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I do not have power to delete an article. Only administrators can delete. I am just doing wp:new pages patrol and I proposed you article to be speedy deleted under the WP:G3 criteria. If you want to contest the deletion, you can click the "Contest this speedy deletion" button on the article page, and write your reasons. But, I don't think that the article will be alive for more than an hour, since it's total nonsense. Please, do not use Wikipedia for jokes or to write about things invented by you and your friends. Civility

Please read Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers and take the advice to heart. Inappropriate harsh, brusque, and rude treatments of new editors, such as the way you've been treating User:Xaguino, not only contribute to a bad atmosphere, but drive away new users, who're needed to continue developing the encyclopaedia. The declining size of the Wikipedia community has been identified as a problem all the way up to the top of the foundation. Stop trying to exacerbate the problem. WilyD 09:56, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

And, what exactly was inappropriate? Vanjagenije (talk) 15:20, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Don't bite the newcomers can explain why it's a bad idea to behave boorishly towards new users, if it isn't obvious to you, better than I can. If you can't see it, take a step back and look at how you chased away a new editor who was contributing a valuable article with your rude behaviour, who's only mistake was a minor formatting error. WilyD 15:41, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Please, do not bother me if you are not at least able to explain your own comment. Vanjagenije (talk) 15:55, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
What don't you understand? Please don't treat new users rudely, like you did User:Xaguino, who was driven off Wikipedia by your hostility. You damage the project as a whole when you go out of your way to make Wikipedia a less pleasant place for everyone to work, and it's just bad practice to treat people jerkishly. Speedy Deletion on Chee Wah Corporation Bhd

Hi Vanjagenije, If you deemed my post of the above mentioned more of a promotional / advertising, then what about these which are not marked for deletion?

1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasek_Corporation_Berhad 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TSH_Ekowood 3. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pensonic_Group

Just to quote a few from the numerous.

I am just trying to enlist Chee Wah as one of Malaysian companies worth mentioning which is one of the largest paper stationery manufacturer in the said country and also one of the few who is Environmental Conscious by being a Chain of Custody for PEFC and FSC which not many corporate in the world is accredited. Being one or a larger paper stationery manufacturer which is conscious about the environment and one that really is serious about it, in my personal opinion is at least worth some mention. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dominicthong (talkcontribs) 17:04, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I am doing new pages patrol and I proposed your article for deletion because it fails this guideline: WP:COMPANY. Read it carefully to familiarize yourself with our guidelines. After I proposed the article for deletion, my proposition was reviewed by User:Secret who is an administrator. He upheld my proposition and deleted the article [1]. If you think that your article should be undeleted, you may speak to this administrator, because I have no power to delete, nor undelete articles. You are welcomed to write the article again, but to improve it so to meet WP:COMPANY. The other articles you quoted are also quite promotional, but that is not the reason not to delete your article. Hi! You can use Draft namespace to make a draft of the article (for example Draft:Pim de Witte. You can work there on you article as long as you want. and then publish it when you think it's ready. Since the subject of the article is a living person, be sure to follow this policy: WP:BLP. And, please, sign every post you write on someones talk page. If you are not sure how to do it, see here: WP:Sign. Vanjagenije (talk) 10:19, 29 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Joyce de Ginatta

Thanks for your comments about the article I started. You are correct, it is not yet developed enough. I had hoped others might add to it but until I can get a better draft ready please feel free to delete the page. Happy New Year. (Ollamhnua (talk) 01:21, 2 January 2014 (UTC)).Reply

Hi! The article is proposed for deletion (by me) because it completely lacks sources. This is violation of the WP:BLP policy that says that every article about a living person has to have at least one reliable source cited. The article will be deleted in 2 days unles some citations are added. It is generally a bad idea to write a very short article without sources, and to hope that others will do the rest of the job. You may use the draft namespace to make a draft of the article (like this: Draft:Joyce de Ginatta). You may edit the draft as long as you want and then publish it into the articles space when you feel that it's ready. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:25, 2 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

RJ&CO Group

Dear Vanjagenije,

Thank you for your comment to Rubesch Thananjeyan's Wikipedia site. He has actually asked me to put up his profile on Wikipedia - therefore I don't see why there would be any copyright infringement here? We are new on Wikipedia and therefore I might have erred in referencing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by R101j (talkcontribs) 02:39, 3 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! You should understand that Wikipedia is encyclopedia, and not a social network. Here in Wikipedia, we do not write profiles, but encyclopedic articles. You wrote an article about Rubesch Thananjeyan, but it was speedily deleted. The main reason it was deleted is that the text was copy-pasted from http://rjandcogroup.com.au/. On the bottom of that page, there is a note saying "All rights reserved". That means that the text from that page is copyrighted, and therefore may not be directly copied to Wikipedia, because that would be a copyrights violation. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia and only accepts content that is free to use. But, this is really not the only reason the article was deleted. Wikipedia has very strict policies about notability. Only people that are notable may have articles in Wikipedia, and the term "notable" is defined here: Wikipedia:Notability (people). The notability is proven by citing reliable sources that are independent of the subject, and which discuss the person's work and life. You did not cite any reliable source. The official web site of the person's company is not reliable, as it is not independent of him. You are welcomed to write new article about the same subject, but to follow Wikipedia rules. Read this guideline on writing articles about living persons: WP:BLP. Vanjagenije (talk) 11:16, 3 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Abattoir Fermé

Dear Vanjagenije , thanks for reviewing but after some thought I can't really understand why the page for Abattoir Fermé was marked for speedy deletion (and consequently deleted). You state 'self-promotion' and 'similar content as available on the artist's website' as reasons, but I'd like to bring out the following counter-arguments: - this English article is an abridged version of what is also available on the subject on the Belgian Wiki and which had been contributed and redacted by several other Wikipedians other than just myself. I tried to only keep the most (internationally) relevant info for this version in order to contribute a short, factual, introductory article on a theatre company that is regularly a guest on internationally known festivals and venues. - Some content bears indeed resemblance to what the artist write about theirselves on their own page, but I tried to be critical about that: the tone of the article is in my opinion not self-promotional at all, rather neutral. For example: naming the key members and stating that said theatre company is active in diverse sub-genres (puppet theatre, dance, visual theatre etc.) is hardly being promotional, but rather a factual statement, no? Would like to hear your thoughts.

So: open for any input! For example, what would you suggest to improve the article and where? If sources (obviously other than the artists themselves) are needed, where exactly would citation be neededd and which specific sections of the article need improvement? Thanks! Ickselino (talk) 19:19, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! The reason the article Abattoir Fermé was proposed for deletion (and later deleted) is that most of it was simply copy-pasted from abattoirferme.tumblr.com/about-english. It did not "have resemblance", it was simply identical. Wikipedia does not allow copying text from other web-sites, as that is copyrights violation. Wikipedia is free encyclopedia. It contains only text that is free for anybody to use. Text copied from other web sites is copyrighted, and so, not free to use. Other sites may be used as sources when writing Wikipedia articles, but the text may not be directly copied. Learn more about Wikipedia's copyright policies here: Wikipedia:Copyrights. Another reason the article was deleted is that it was "promotional". This means that the article did not cite any reliable sources to prove the subject is notable. Maybe the text of the article was not promotional, but writing about some subject without citing sources to prove his notability is also considered a kind of promotion. You may write the article again, but be sure to follow Wikipedia's policies. Vanjagenije (talk) 19:27, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your thoughts Vanjagenije. I rewrote the entire article, and with sources cited, currently awaiting review. Ickselino (talk) 21:58, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

--Бојанић Тибор (talk) 10:36, 6 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Yes, I do speak Serbian, but this is English Wikipedia, and discussions should be in English (see here: WP:SPEAKENGLISH). You wrote article Brujić about a family name, but I proposed it for deletion, and it was later deleted, under the WP:A7 criteria for speedy deletion. One of the most important policies of Wikipedia is WP:Notability. Only subjects that are notable enough may have articles in Wikipedia. See, there are tens of millions of family names in the world. There is no reason to have separate article about every single one of them. But, if this particular family name is significant, than you have to prove it by citing wp:reliable sources. You cited sources that just mention the family name "Brujić", but you did not cite any source to prove that the family name is notable. See the Notability guidelines for people (this also covers families) here: Wikipedia:Notability (people). Vanjagenije (talk) 11:09, 6 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Vanjagenije,

You and another person who monitors the articles have indicated the same things which I am doing wrong. I thought the process was a lot easier then it is and have looked into getting some professional advice/help from someone who is better then I am at this.

Once things are clearer to me and more importantly in better shape to be accepted by yourselves, these articles will be submitted again. I wasn't aware I was meant to save them to be reviewed and then move forward from there.

I do apologise and sorry for my poor understanding on how to use Wikipedia in the right way.

Kindest regards,

--Riddleman7 (talk) 22:27, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! You don't need to be sorry, it's OK. I am glad that you seek advice, which means that you are really interested in editing Wikipedia. Editing Wikipedia is quite easy, but following all the rules is not such easy. But, you can always ask somebody more experienced, which you did, and that's good. As I see, You wrote several articles, but all of them were deleted for the same reason: lack of notability. One of the most important rules of Wikipedia is wp:Notability. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it is not a phone-book. There are 7 billion people in the world, and probably as many companies, organizations, groups, etc. We can not have separate articles about every single one of them. Only subjects that are notable enough may have separate articles in Wikipedia. But, what is Notability? How do we prove that something/somebody is Notable? The only way to prove the notability of a subject is to cite reliable sources that significantly cover the subject in detail, not just mention it. So, for example, if you want to write an article about a person, you have to cite books, newspaper articles, magazines, web portals, etc (reliable sources) which write about person, his life and work. You wrote a few articles, but did not cite enough reliable sources to prove the notability of their subjects. Here are detailed guidelines about notability: for people WP:BIO and for organizations and companies WP:GROUP. You are free to write those articles again, but be sure to follow those (and all other) Wikipedia policies. Feel free to ask me for any kind of help. Vanjagenije (talk) 11:30, 6 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Again, Ok that's great and has explained things really well for me. I appreciate the detailed response from you and has made me feel a lot better about sticking around to get this right! You may hear from me again in the near future to have a look at whether my next attempt is closer to where I need it to be. Many thanks and kindest regards, Riddleman7 (talk) 01:02, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

thanks for the help and apologies if I make too many mistakes. I have read many editing articles and it has become a bit overwhelming.

Can her official twitter/weibo be used as references?

Thanks a lot SiW8 (talk) 04:07, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Do not worry if you make misstates. Someone will work it out. Important thing is to ask anything you are not sure how to do. If you have some reliable sources in Chinese, it's not a problem. Sources do not have to be in English. But, sites like Twitter, Facebook, etc. may not be used as sources, because they are not reliable, nor independent of the subject (see: wp:42, the most important rule of Wikipedia). Personal sites, blogs, Facebook profiles, etc. are places where people write about themselves, and can write whatever they want. That is not reliable. We need sources like books, magazines, newspapers, internet news portals, etc. Vanjagenije (talk) 10:28, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I am not the one who can delete articles. Only administrators can delete, and I am not one. I just proposed the article Renee technologies for speedy deletion under WP:G11 criteria. The article was later deleted by administrator User:Jimfbleak. I am doing a process called wp:New pages patrol. I review new articles and propose them for deletion if they are not in line with Wikipedia's policies. I see that User:Jimfbleak responded to you on your talk page and explained you why the article was deleted. If you still have some questions, feel free to ask. You can rewrite the article again whenever you want. But, be sure to follow Wikipedia's policies (especially this one: WP:COMPANY). Otherwise, the article might be deleted again. If you want to experiment, you may create draft article (for example Draft:Renee Technologies), and then move it to article namespace when you feel it's ready. St. Michael's Choir School COI

Hi there,

Thanks for your feedback. I understand what you are saying in terms of Wikipedia's essentially policy, however I have a number of concerns that I have not yet received answers to.

1. If I create a more anonymous ussername, I will surely still be in conflict but no one will know about it. How is this supposed to help? Surely being transparent about any COI is preferable to hiding it and trying to do some kind of an end-run on Wikipedia's accountability policies.

2. Because of my COI, am I supposed to just wait around for some person to possibly edit our page which is currently a) factually inaccurate; b) inconsistent and c) outdated? That seems silly. Even if I sent on the information to someone else, wouldn't that still be a conflict if I had asked them to make changes on our behalf?

3. As school archivist, I have access to resources that are not online (print media, etc) or that might not be available to typical users. If my expertise makes Wikipedia better or more effective, why should I have to keep it to myself when simply being transparent about my COI would vastly improve our page and allow me to make additions to other pages where information relating to my work would be interesting and relevant?

Finally, I have been exploring Wikipedia's policies for curators, librarians and archivists, and I note that it advises the following:

"Edit as yourself[edit] Register for a username (it can be a pseudonym) and write a message on your user page describing your position, institution and area of expertise. The user account should be yours alone (not shared) and should not be named after your institution. Editors must use individual accounts, because the primary role of all Wikipedia editors should be to develop the encyclopedia, not to represent an institution"

It also advises "Do not add material to an article which promotes your institution but which does not help a reader of Wikipedia better understand the topic."

I will go ahead and request a change of username. I'm not going to be sneaky and just create a separate account, so you all will still know I have a conflict of interest, which I will declare on my User page under the following policy:

"Some editors declare an interest in a particular topic area. The benefits of this are that most editors will appreciate your honesty and may try to help you; you lay the basis for requesting help from others to post material for you, or to review material you wish to post yourself, and public relations professionals may be required to abide by code of ethics, such as the GA code of ethics or PRSA code of ethics. The disadvantage of declaring your interest is that people outside Wikipedia, such as reporters, may identify you and generate negative publicity for you, your group or your company. Some COI declarations have the effect of announcing your real name (see WP:REALNAME). Do not publicly declare an interest if this could put you at harm in the real world, e.g., from stalkers."

But I still need to correct the things that are just plain wrong on our page, and I don't understand what you posted about request edit templates. I appreciate that it probably seems totally obvious to you, however it doesn't to me as a newcomer and the help page really didn't clarify as it jumped right into very technical jargon. If you can explain it better, I will use the system. I want to do this correctly, but I am not content to wait around for some kindly person to make an accurate update of our page, since I know more about the topic than most people outside of the organization. Professionally, I wish to adhere to best ethical practices but that should not prevent me from making changes that I'm really the only person positioned to make. Smcs.archives (talk) 17:18, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Additionally: your note about talkback was confusing and I didn't understand the help page. Am I supposed to just insert that code into my own talk page? I need someone to explain like I'm five. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smcs.archives (talkcontribs) 17:20, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I'm glad that you've taken my advice seriously and that you are really interested to learn more about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. As I said: you did nothing wrong. You should not feel guilty at all. Me and other editors are just trying to help you to understand how Wikipedia works. I will be glad to answer all the questions you asked, and all other questions you might ask me in the future. Let me start by answering 3 main (numbered) questions you posted above:
  1. If you create an anonymous username, you are still under the Conflict of interest, and the same rules still apply. Conflict of interest has nothing to do with the username, it is about your real-world connection to the subject of the article. And, believe me, it is quite possible for us to identify COI even if you take anonymous username. This is ussualy done bt tracing IP addresses (see: WP:WHOIS), but there are other methods. Many people already tried it.
  2. I never said that you should just sit and wait for somebody else to edit the article. I said that you are welcomed to propose the edit on the article's talk page, and discuss it with other editors. Wikipedia is all about discussion and consensus. Of course, if you find some blatant inaccuracies in the article, you may delete them or edit them. But do not insert anything controversial or unreferenced into the article.
  3. Your access to resources and your knowledge about the issue is very useful to us, but Wikipedia has very strict policy about the WP:Neutral point of view. See, for example: If an article about myself is to be written, who knows better about it than myself? I have the most resources and knowledge about myself, my life and my work. But, if I would write an article about myself, how would it look like? Would it be objective, would it be written from the neutral point of view? Certainly not, because a person cannot be neutral when writing about himself, his family, his company, etc. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and neutrality is one of the key principles of Wikipedia. So, you are welcomed to help, and to share your knowledge about your school, but you have to be careful about neutrality. The best way to achieve neutrality is to discuss any major edit you want to make in the article about your school, and to properly reference every edit. All I said is about editing articles with which you have a COI. Of course, you may edit all other articles freely.
Now, about "request edit templates". When you want to propose any major edit to the page with which you have COI, you should propose it on the article's talk page, and put this code above the request: {{request edit}}. Just that, nothing complicated. That would alarm other editors to come to the talk page and share their opinion about your proposal.
About the "talkback" massage: If you write something on my talk page, I get a notification about it (you probably took notice of this yourself). But if you write something to me on your talk page or anywhere else in Wikipedia, I will not get a notification. That way I will not be aware that you wrote something to me, and I will probably not answer you. So, to notify me about your post, you should put a "talkback" message on my talk page. You just edit my talk page and add this code: {{talkback|Astra Inclinant}}. This is just en example if you write something to me on your talk page. If you write somewhere else, than you write, for example, Talk:Article instead of Astra Inclinant. End when you add that to my talk page, I will get a notification. I've just done the same on your talk page, in order to notify you about this very post.
Fell free to ask me anything else you'd like to know. Me and other editors are here to help you. I hope you'll enjoy editing Wikipedia and I hope you'll develop interest in editing other articles, not just the one about your company. Vanjagenije (talk) 20:10, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Vanjagenije, I just saw your note about deleting my article on Juan Diego Calle. I literally just started typing the article within a half hour ago and haven't had the chance to put in all the content and references. Can you please not undelete? It is very confusing to get started on Wikipedia. I am doing my best to get it right and i have a lot of great content ....

I don't even know if i am doing this right in this talk box. Please advise. Thank you!

domaindiva Domaindiva (talk) 21:51, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Article Juan Diego Calle is empty and as such needs to be deleted under WP:A3 criteria. You may write it again, but you should use the draft namespace. Use Draft:Juan Diego Calle to write the article as long as you want and then move it to the article namespace when you feel it's ready. That way you will avoid the article being deleted before you finish it. Don't wory if the article gets deleted. That is not any kind of sanction against you. If you write it again, and if you follow Wikipedia guidelines and policies, it will not be deleted again. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:02, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks for the clarification. So can you just delete the article right away? I don't want people to search for his name and see the strange entry that it is contested, etc. : ) (I'm embarrassed that I didn't do it right!)

I'll start over with the draft. Is there an easier way to get help with all of this? I have a whole article and citations on a word doc, but i keep messing it up when i try to input it into the wiki format. It is a real art form. Is there someone that can help me with this? Thanks for your input.

Cheers, Domain Diva — Preceding unsigned comment added by Domaindiva (talkcontribs) 22:07, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I can't delete the article because I'm not an administrator and only administrators are able to delete content. I am a new pages patroler. I review newly created pages, evaluate them, and propose for deletion those that are not in accordance with our policies. One of our administrators will delete the article soon, probably within an hour. You should not feel embarrassed, as you didn't make any harm. Unfortunately, Wikipedia uses it's own format called Wiki markup, so you can't simply copy-paste article text form .doc format or any other format. You'll have to copy the article to Wikipedia manually. You can learn more about the Wiki markup here: Help:Wiki markup. You should also read this: Wikipedia:Tutorial to introduce yourself to Wikipedia. Feel free to ask me anything you'd like to know. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:18, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

HI Okay I just did a new draft where you told me to do it, Draft:Juan Diego Calle. Can you tell me if I did it well enough to turn it into an article? My references seem kind of strange. Not sure if I did them right. Please advise. Thank you for your help! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Domaindiva (talkcontribs) 23:23, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I edited your draft a bit. There are some issues to resolve before moving it to the articles namespace. Some inline citations are given in the form of bare URLs which needs to be fixed (see here: WP:Bare URLs). The article is full of external links in the article body, which is not permitted. External links should be in the separate section at the end of the article (see here: WP:EXT). Otherwise, it's not bad. Vanjagenije (talk) 23:33, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Vanjagenije- Ok I think i edited all the bare URLs and fixed the external links. Can you see if it is ready to become a real article now? If so, can you help me to transition from the draft to the real article so that it is not deleted quickly? The earlier draft i did that you flagged is still there so hasn't been deleted yet - so i'm not sure what to do next. Anyway, please let me know if i've fixed all the bad parts of the article. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP. I really appreciate it. Domaindiva (talk) 00:11, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

it seems OK for the beginning, I'm sure it will not be deleted. Because of the copyright issues, the best way is to wait until the first version of the article is deleted, and than to move the new draft to the article namespace. It should be deleted soon. I'll move it for you if you want when the first article gets deleted. Vanjagenije (talk) 00:26, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

OK I will just wait then. I would LOVE it if you would move it for me when the first article gets deleted. I don't want to risk making any mistakes. Do you have any idea if it should happen today at some point? Thanks again and I'll check back later. Happy New Year. Domaindiva (talk) 00:32, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Done. I've moved it, the article is here: Juan Diego Calle. You should categorize the article now (see Help:Category and Wikipedia:Categorization).Vanjagenije (talk) 01:17, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Richmond Shock Lacrosse Deletion

I have revised and republished my article. I did not intend for it too seem like an advertisement, so i took everything out that i believe contributed to that fact. Please re-look at it. i hope you change your mind about deletion — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mnord15 (talkcontribs) 23:45, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

If you want the article to stand and not to be deleted, you'll have to add citations to reliable sources (see: wp:42 and wp:cite). Whether the article is an advertisement is not defined only by the style of the writing, but also by presence of reliable sources. Your article does not cite any reliable sources to prove it's Notability. The article also has other issues: it has no lead section, it has no categories, it has very few links to other articles, it is an orphan, and it contains external links in the article's body which is prohibited. Hi! This is the English language Wikipedia, so all talk page conversation should be in English (see: WP:SPEAKENGLISH). I do not understand what you mean when you say that you tried to "send some photos, but did not succeed". As I see, the photo you mention is uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. As for the "Brothers Krstic home", I moved it to "Krstić's Brothers House" as it seems to be the correct name per [2]. You can use Template:Infobox building for that article. The article is very poorly referenced, it needs more references to establish the WP:Verifability. Vanjagenije (talk) 21:31, 17 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Mallikarjun Bande nominated for deletion

Hi page created by meMallikarjun Bande is marked for deletion based on the arguement that it has information only on his death. For now yes it looks like that but there are severe allegations about a conspiracy about his death and demanding for a seperate inquiry.

Please help me in telling ways so that i can save this article from deletion , i personally feel that page is prone for improvement as and when new angles of his death come out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prajwalkumarmn (talkcontribs) 2014-01-18T20:07:09‎

User:PrajwalkumarmnSubmit it to wikinews, a sister project, a.s.a.p while it's still fresh. Mind the article structure and a intro for Wikipedians; you will need a quick rewrite to match their requirements before you submit the article for review. Gryllida 10:09, 18 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well, the only way to prove his notability as a person, is to provide the article with references to reliable sources that significantly discuss his life (see: WP:42). Otherwise, if his life is not notable, but his death is significcantly discussed by different reliable sources, you may create another article about his death. We have such examples. See this: Murder of Kitty Genovese. There is no article about her, only about her death. Vanjagenije (talk) 12:29, 18 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Vanja for the help . Vanja, should i rename the page to death of mallikarjun bande and provide info only related to his death and the aftermath like 1.Unrest created in the city when his fans/followers marked his final day as Bandh 2.How encounter exactly happened and how he died ?

This article is a bit strange case because even though the person was s strict police officer who was respected across the town , there are no additional references from the major newspapers. I could see only few references that too from regional (non-english) language websites , as a policy i should not quote such references.Correct me if am wrong. There is only one major incident during his career that is seen in regional websites such as arrest of a prominent politician . Recent allegations are Bande didnt get bogged down to release him when there was severe pressure from his higher authorities which caused his transfer and he was transferred to a new station. Within three months he was asked to catch the notorious rowdy under poor startegy from his higher officials.Day by day the reasons for his death are taking different turns, unfortunately this is not captured only on regional websites. Can i quote them while re-altering the page ?

Hello again. There is no point for you to use the {{helpme}} template on my talk page. When you write to my talk page, I get notified, you don't need to put "{{helpme}}". The template is intended to be used on your talk page. Now, about the article. There is no policy that says the sources have to be in English. I don't know where did you get that. Sources may be in whatever language, provided that they are reliable and independent. If you can find reliable independent sources to significantly cover the persons whole life, than add them to the article. If you only have sources about his death and surrounding controversy, then you may create new page about the murder. I can't tell you what to do. It's up to you. And, yes, be sure to sign every post you write on a talk page. See here: WP:SIGN. Vanjagenije (talk) 21:00, 18 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

This page should not be speedily deleted because... This is not an advertisement but the fact that he's a prominent personality in the field of image processing. He has several research publications which includes more than 200 international journal publications. Do you think this is a small achievement? At the age of 30 he earned his doctorate in engineering and is recognized guide for doctorate aspirants in various universities in India. At age of 32 he is working as Dean R & D at a leading engineering institute. He published few books which are also available for sale on amazon.com. Hi! First of all, the article Sudeep Thepade was already deleted before you posted this message. It was deleted by User:Callanecc who is Wikipedia administrator. Only administrators have power to delete articles. I cannot delete, and I do not decide whether the article should be deleted or not. I am doing new pages patrol (reviewing new articles) and when I find an article that fulfills speedy deletion criteria, I propose it for deletion. But, only administrators are able to actually delete an article. I can explain you the reasons the article was deleted, but I can't undo the deletion because you need an administrator for that. My opinion is that the article you've written falls into two criteria for speedy deletion. It does not explain, in any way, why the person is significant, why he deserve an article in encyclopedia (see: WP:A7). Wikipedia has very strict rules on wp:Notability, especially about the notability of living persons (see: WP:BLP). Unfortunately, publishing books, earning doctorates and working for universities is not itself an indication of notability. The basic rule of Wikipedia is that the notability should be established trough citing reliable sources that significantly cover person's life (see: WP:42). You did not provide any reliable sources in your article to prove person's notability. The other reason the article was deleted is that it is written like a promotion (see: WP:G11). That means that the article describes the person from a promotional point of view, rather than a neutral point of view. Neutrality is one of the key principles of Wikipedia. You can try to write a new article on the same subject, but I recommend you read this carefully before starting new article: Wikipedia:Your first article. You should also sign every post you leave at a talk page (see: WP:Signatures). Vanjagenije (talk) 11:47, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

SARAJEVO

Hello vanjagenije.

Due to the Canton Sarajevo Government and the "Infrastructure Law" of Canton Sarajevo, Article 88: Sarajevo is "european metropolis".

Please look at Sarajevo[1] and use Ctrl F --> metropola in order to find the fact.

Jangir Maddadi

Hi vanjagenije! I am wondering why the Jangir Maddadi page is still considered an orphan since there is a page that links to it. Look forward to your feedback! Caroline.littlefield.jmdb (talk) 14:42, 21 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! There is only one other article that links to Jangir Maddadi (see: [3]). Technically, it is not an wp:orphan, but it is very close to being one. Wikipedia articles need to have at least a few incoming links to be integrated into Wikipedia. You are welcomed to establish such link (to DE-ORPHAN the article). When you do that, feel free to remove the "orphaned article" tag from the article. Vanjagenije (talk) 15:11, 21 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi vanjagenije! Having read through the Wikipedia definitions of orphaned articles, in which "a single, relevant incoming link is sufficient to remove the tag, three or more is ideal and will help ensure the article is reachable by readers," I'm wondering if it is OK for me to remove the orphan tag from Jangir Maddadi, since it does not technically count as an orphaned article, and in the meantime I will make an active effort to link other articles to it? The less time it can have with this tag, the better, and I'd very much like to polish it up! Thanks in advance for your help! Caroline.littlefield.jmdb (talk) 12:54, 24 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Of course, you are free to remove the tag. Vanjagenije (talk) 18:36, 24 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Joseph Bondarenko

I wrote the article taken from the good call ministry website, please remove deletion tag. thank you----ProjectinProgress_12345 (talk) 23:33, 25 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I did not delete the article, actually I have no power to delete articles, only administrators are able to do that. There are several problems with that article (Joseph Bondarenko). Most of the article content was copied from another web site (this one), which is a copyright violation. That web site clearly states "Copyright © 2007-2014 The Good Call Ministries, Inc.". Wikipedia does not allow material copied form copyrighted sources (see: WP:Copy-paste). The copyrighted content was removed from the article, because it was in violation of Wikipedia Policies. Another problem is that, when you are writing about your grandfather, you are in the WP:Conflict of Interest. There are special Wikipedia Policies for the users in the Conflict of Interest. Read carefully this guideline: WP:PLAINSIMPLECOI and be sure to follow it. Don't be afraid to ask me anything you'd like to know. And, yes, leave your posts at the bottom of this page, otherwise they might be overlooked. Vanjagenije (talk) 23:44, 25 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

I am curious

Hi Vanjagenijie: I am one of the very few wiki editors who works on deletions from Commons. I answered a person's question about uploading images at the Teahouse, and it seems like you erased my entire contribution? I am sorry but if she just fills in the rest of the "easy" form without doing what I suggested, our deleters may mark her picture for deletion. I was trying to keep that situation from happening by being so specific and providing a link to a page of instructions on how exactly to do it. I am very curious why you blanked my help? Thank you. Ellin Beltz (talk) 00:20, 6 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! You are wrong. I did not blank your answer. That person (User:Balvenie Street) posted two identical questions to the Teahouse. You answered the first one (Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#I_want_to_put_photo_of_me_on_my_wikipedia_page), I answered the second one (Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#Photo_up_loaded_to_my_page). Bergen performing arts center

Marked and deleted so fast? Really. Totally remiss that it does not even exist in the first place. What a disincentive to move forward or have any hope for wikipedia with such actions. I might very well just say goodbye forever and dismiss as a dying fad. My financial support is certainly on the wane. --Wikipietime (talk) 05:57, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Your article (Bergen performing arts center) was deleted by User:Y, who is an administrator, not by me. I am just doing WP:new pages patrol, and I proposed the article for deletion. The article was deleted because it violated the WP:SPAM policy, as it was overly promotional. If you think that you should quit Wikipedia after more than four years just because one of your articles was deleted, that's your choice, but I don't think that's a good idea. Dozens of my articles were deleted, but I did not quit, and that really helped me to understand the way Wikipedia works. Financial support to Wikipedia is totally voluntarily, and Wikipedia community appreciate it. But, you should not think that you can bend the rules just because you gave financial support. Wikipedia policies are here for all of us. Vanjagenije (talk) 11:26, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! Appreciate it. I am not a quitter, generally; but I run across so many blatant articles that are promotional with dubious citations and value where zero action is taken for deletion or validation. I have no affiliation on any of my contributions but see them as starting articles for others. Oh well, I will proceed cautiously. The blem on my profile for vandalism was so wrong. I merely had tried to edit out a reference to the topic that on my talk page and something went way wrong. Maybe what I should do is mark articles for deletion and see where that goes towards confirming a subtle bias and agenda of some editors. Thanks again.--Wikipietime (talk) 12:44, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well, the problem is that Wikipedia currently has a very large wp:backlog. There are more than 4,000 articles currently waiting for review (Special:NewPagesFeed), many of them should be deleted, but we do not have enough volunteers to handle that quickly. You are free to propose articles for deletion if you think that they should be deleted, but be sure to read out these before nominating any article: WP:Deletion process, WP:Guide to deletion, WP:Field guide to proper speedy deletion. Vanjagenije (talk) 16:53, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Granted, but how do mine get such speedy priority and deletion. I am thinking that I must be tagged as a rogue agent due to earlier issues of political nature and the private equity debacle. A slow and fast lane, like net neutrality..--Wikipietime (talk) 17:06, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I pick articles for review randomly. Nominating your article for deletion has nothing to do with your prior behavior. I was not even aware of your earlier issues when I nominated the article. And speedy deletion is usually performed very quickly, in few hours, but also often in few minutes. That is the usual procedure. It is not any kind of punishment. Articles are speedy deleted because their content, not because their author. Vanjagenije (talk) 17:59, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sayyed Muhammad Al-Makki

Hi, I was just working on an article about Sayyed Muhammad Al-Makki and received a message from you that you have tagged my article I just started fo deletion. Please allow me some more time and you will find information with references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sayyed Hasnain Naqawi (talkcontribs) 21:03, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! First of all, you should leave comments at the bottom of the talk page, not at the top, as you did here (I moved your post to the bottom). And you should sign every post you leave at a talk page (see here: WP:SIGN). Your article "Sayyed Muhammad Al-Makki" was proposed for speedy deletion by me because it did not have any content. I am doing the wp:New pages patrol and I proposed the article for deletion. The article was later deleted by an administrator (only administrators can delete, and I'm not one of them). You can write the article again, there's no problem. If you need more time for it, you can use your Sandbox (here: User:Sayyed Hasnain Naqawi/Sandbox) or you can use the wp:draft namespace to write the article and then move it to the wp:article namespace when you fell it's ready. There is also an option called WP:Articles for Creation which is a good tool to write your first article. Anyway, be sure to read this before writing the article: Wikipedia:Your first article. And, feel free to ask me anything you want to know. Vanjagenije (talk) 21:14, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

side note

BTW the formatting is off to the left here and overlaps with the Wiki menu bar... it's nearly impossible to read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Vanjagenije

I am wondering why you are placing articles on an American Businessman when your profile states you are interested in Serbian History, geography and rock music.

What type of rock music do you like?

I work for a music label in Los Angeles, and would absolutely love to collaborate with you on building those pages out. It seems to me that I could benefit from your technical understanding of wikipedia, and I could perhaps help make some connections for you here.

Hi! I think you should read "Wikipedia:Signatures", as you did not sign your post again. You typed "~~~~" in the wp:edit summary, but you should actually type it at the end of your post together with the text. It is a wp:magic word and transforms into the signature the same moment you click "save page".
The reason the formatting of my user page is off is probably the wp:skin that you use. It is formatted to work with MonoBook and Vector skins. There may be other reasons, but since you managed to read out my interests, I guess it's not so bad.
I am a volunteer doing the WP:New pages patrol. I review new pages and propose for deletion those that satisfy the WP:Criteria for speedy deletion. That is the reason I proposed your article for deletion. The article was later deleted by an administrator (User:Bbb23). Only administrators can delete pages, I only propose pages for deletion. I review all new pages, even those on American businessmen.
I am currently not interested in creating new articles (although I did create many in the past). But, feel free to ask me anything you want to know about Wikipedia. I am part of the WikiProject Editor Retention, and I already helped many new editors to understand the way Wikipedia works. I can also recommend you visit the WP:Teahouse whenever you have a question. It is an user-friendly forum where experienced editors can help you with almost everything. Source and Citations in Vicky Krieps article

Hello! I am the author of that article - I responded to the tags you added and included more information, including sources and citations. Can you review the article and delete the tags if possible? If not, I am open for further suggestions. Greetings,--Roude Leiw2001 (talk) 06:12, 15 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! One of the main rules of Wikipedia is that every article must have several reliable, independent sources that significantly cover the subject (see: WP:42). You did add some citations to the article, but those do not fulfill this rule. Some of the sources you cited do not even mention Vicky Krieps ([4]), some just mention her name, but without significant coverage ([5], [6]). Articles like IMDb are not considered reliable (see: Wikipedia:Citing_IMDb), neither are internet forums and fan pages. Official page of the subject is not an independent source. So, I'm afraid the article still needs lot more sources that satisfy the rules (see: WP:CITE). By the way, some references are in the form of WP:Bare URLs, you should fix that. Feel free to ask me anything you want to know. Vanjagenije (talk) 19:10, 15 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

New articles being marked for deletion

Hi! Thanks for your efforts with the New Page patrol. I notice that you recently proposed the Scalliwag article for deletion when it was only twelve minutes old. Although a cursory internet search does tend to suggest that the song is not notable, I am concerned that such a rapid PROD can only discourage editors. May I therefore suggest that you patrol new pages from the back of the queue as suggested here? This would allow editors time to establish any notability from offline sources. Proposed deletion of Patanjali (Patu) G Keswani

Hi,

I have fixed all issues highlighted. Please review my page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patu_Keswani again.

Hi! You did not fix all the issues. All articles (especially WP:BLP) should have WP:Inline citations in order to establish WP:Verifability. Your article has only one inline citation. Other sources are also not properly formatted. See here how to format sources: WP:Citing sources. Other issue is that the article is nearly WP:Orphan. There is only one other article that links to it (see here: [7]). You should try to WP:DE-ORPHAN the article. Feel free to ask me for help. And please, sign your posts (see here: WP:SIGN). Vanjagenije (talk) 10:43, 29 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi,

I have fixed issues. Please review and let me know if any other issues left.

Thanks

Actually, you did not fix all issues. You inserted inline citations, but they are all WP:Bare URLs, they are not in the proper style (see: WP:Citing sources). One of your citations points to another Wikipedia article, which is contrary to the WP:Circular policy. The article is getting better, but you have to work on the proper style of citation. And, please, SIGN YOUR POSTS (see here how to do it: WP:SIGN). Vanjagenije (talk) 14:09, 29 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Olla Podrida

I don't really care one way or the other. I just found this old brochure and thought somebody would be interested, as other malls (past and present) seem to have pages. If somebody wants to write an article based upon the brochure, be my guest. By the same token, if it does not qualify, they can also delete it. Elpablo69 (talk) 14:17, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! The problem with the article was the WP:Notability. Yes, some malls have Wikipedia articles, but not all of them. Only those notable enough have articles. Notability is generally established by citing reliable sources (see: WP:42). Your article did not cite any source, nor did it explain why the said mall would be notable. Another problem is that you filled the article with images scanned from the brochure. That is a copyright violation, since you are not the author of the brochure, and since you do not have author's permission to publish those images (see: WP:COPYRIGHT). Vanjagenije (talk) 21:46, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
My plan was not to write a detailed article, but provide source material for other editors. However if it is not within the guidelines, I take no offense to deletion. Interesting that WP would consider something to be copyright when there is no copyright notice anywhere, and the publisher is out of business. Gotta love lawyers, huh? Elpablo69 (talk) 04:35, 6 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
According to the laws of almost all countries that ratified the Berne Convention (including the United States), copyrights do not depend on any kind of copyright notice. Every work is copyrighted per se, the same moment it is created, with or without notice. The copyright belongs to the author of the work, and copyright is valid even after the death of the author (70 years after his death in most countries). And, yes, copyrights are very important for Wikipedia, and any kind of copyright violation is quickly removed. You can learn more about copyrights on Wikipedia here: WP:COPYRIGHT.
