DYK calendar
Hi there
Is there any way, to get the articles queued up for the DYK showcase for the next 7 days (or similar?) I know Main Page/Tomorrow exists, but I'm looking for a wider schedule.
You seem active with the DYK part of the project so i thought you would know Rlink2 (talk) 18:27, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Rlink2, what you might be looking for is Template:Did you know/Queue. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 18:34, 1 January 2022 (UTC)

Homestead
I was wondering how you feel about ALT1 at Template:Did you know nominations/The Lost Homestead. I kept on skipping over it for promotion because it doesn't seem right. It still seems like an EGG issue to me. SL93 (talk) 20:30, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
- @SL93: yeah, it's EGGy to me too—I keep skipping over that (and a couple other nominations) because it's not ready, but I haven't actually gone in and tried to address the issues yet. I don't understand how they're both fine with it, honestly; anyways, I'll work out an ALT with the two of them. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 20:33, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
G. D. Sweet Famous Players
I appreciate the Newspapers.com clippings for G. D. Sweet Famous Players. They have been helpful and I finally have Newspapers.com access again. I'm currently working on bringing the article to GA status. SL93 (talk) 13:51, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
- @SL93: Oh, I didn't know you lost access—I would've sent you pictures! Best of luck on the GA :) it looks to be in great shape theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 21:44, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello! I noticed you closed this nomination as "promoted". Did you mean to close it as "rejected"? I noticed you didn't promote it and it had already been marked for closure. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 09:42, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- Oop! Sorry, Narutolovehinata5—muscle memory from pretty much only promoting nominations. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 09:44, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
DYK for Claudia Belk
On 4 January 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Claudia Belk, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Claudia Watkins, the only "lady judge" in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, in 1969, thought it was "no big deal"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Claudia Belk. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Claudia Belk), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Welcome to the 2022 WikiCup!
Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2022 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor you should be able to advance to at least the second round, improving your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page. Any questions on the rules or on anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page. Signups will close at the end of January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will move on to round 2. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Sturmvogel 66 (talk · contribs · email) and Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 14:37, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

FA
I am aiming to get the GA article It's Elementary: Talking About Gay Issues in School to FA status. I just asked a member of the guild of copy editors a few minutes ago if they could copy edit the article though that is one small step. I saw that you have a FA nomination ongoing and I was wondering if you had any ideas on how to even find out if a film article is close to that status. SL93 (talk) 00:53, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hey, SL93! I'm sorry, I'm pretty much flying by the seat of my pants as far as my FAC is concerned; I'm just kinda doing what people tell me to where it makes sense, and so far it's working? Long story short, I'm probably not the best person for this; I'd recommend paying a visit to the FAM. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 00:58, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. I didn't know that page existed. SL93 (talk) 01:02, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- (: happy to help theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 05:08, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- SL93, informal mentoring: that article looks a bit too short for a FA, and would need more background, and anyway a more substantial lead. I suggest you look at other film articles (such as Boys Don't Cry (1999 film)), and at tlc's FAC to see what reviewers might say. - I'm pleased that last year, six FAs began on my talk page (probably because due to alphabet, my name comes up early as a mentor), and one of the users wrote two more in fast succession, and one of those was TFA on Christmas Day. A seventh user didn't succeed, though. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:15, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- Gerda Arendt I do realize that the article is too short for a FA currently which is why I need articles to compare it to for an expansion. I looked at the film articles list, but I specifically need documentaries and not feature films like Boys Don't Cry. Preferably, they would have became a FA within the past few years. SL93 (talk) 16:36, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- I don't recall one, sorry, so all I could do is check the list, but that you could better do yourself. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:46, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- I expanded the article and nominated it for FA. I'm hopeful to receive further suggestions there. The closest FA article that I could find is Trembling Before G-d that passed in 2010 and I doubt would pass today. I have seen longer film articles that passed FA as well as shorter ones. How to?
Can you help me to know how to use this template? DYK views? Bruxton (talk) 18:44, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- Do you mean {{DYK views}}? tlc, it should indeed come with a documentation, compare {{Infobox opera}}. It looks as if you have three parameters without parameter names, just by position: number of views, number of views per hour (which you have to do yourself), and month. You could check an entry. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:55, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, Bruxton and gerda! I've added a documentation page for future reference. :)) theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 20:21, 7 January 2022 (UTC)

DYK for The Debate (The West Wing)
On 10 January 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Debate (The West Wing), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Dear Theleekycauldron, You're invited to a zoom call, taking place on February 11, with the goal of improving the article on Los Angeles to Featured article status! I often find it daunting to approach the Big Subjects on my own—so if you, like me, want a time to sit down with fellow dedicated editors and tackle something important and complex, this is the zoom for you! I, unfortunately, have no way to transmit snacks over zoom; but I trust you to exercise good judgement and discretion in selecting snacks of your own. Hope to see you there—if you're interested, add your name here! theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 00:19, 10 January 2022 (UTC) To opt out of future mailings about LA meetups, please remove your name from this list. |

So excited about the LA-FA editathon and so thrilled that you set it up! I added it to the Wikimedians of Los Angeles page. Are you on Facebook? If you are -- and if you're not already a member -- will you join the Wikipdia LA Facebook group and post about the edit-a-thon? I'll post it if you're not up for it. Psyched to meet you on Friday! - I'm posting on behalf of Theleekycauldron, who isn't on Facebook (and doesn't want to be). She organized a Zoom meetup on Friday from 11:00a-4:00p (Pacific) to collaboratively bring the Los Angeles article to featured status.

I fixed most of the issues in your review and left notes for ones that I am confused about. Thanks for the review. I'm hoping I receive more reviews soon. SL93 (talk) 01:54, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- I hope I did nothing wrong in my comments. SL93 (talk) 06:31, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- @SL93: hey, SL93! I'm sorry, I've got a bunch of work tonight—digging into the responses is gonna require me a free couple of hours, which (despite the look of my contributions) i haven't had today. - I didn't realize that the article was that bad. I thought I fixed almost everything. SL93 (talk) 14:26, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- @SL93: not at all! I'm sure you handled it all correctly—but if it ends up putting me in a rabbit hole for some other reason, that's rather bad for my work life. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 00:13, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- Looking over your current FA review, I'm curious about when a consensus is formed either way. The information I can find for when a consensus is formed is very vague. I'm hoping mine doesn't last too long because I already have plans on what to work on next for FA. I got One Day at HorrorLand to GA way back in 2013 and I am planning to see what I can do with that article for FA status. I figured it would be easier to look among my older articles for FA inspiration. SL93 (talk) 00:46, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- @SL93: Well, you've got source and image reviews out of the way—that's helpful. I need JJE to finish (with support) the source review, and hopefully that's consensus to promote? I'm not sure, though, because every single nomination last month took an excess of three weeks, start to finish. I don't want mine to take that long either :l theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 00:51, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- True. I recently found out that not all featured articles appear on the main page and the ones that do can take quite a while for that to happen. I never tried further than GA so I didn't know. I don't like the idea of it. SL93 (talk) 00:56, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- SL93, if you have a FA and want to have it appear, it typically appears soon, unless there's a date concern. I had an article that makes sense only on a 25th of March, and besides it becoming FA 26th of March, someone else had a more serious demand for the same date that year. I now had a FA going to appear less than a month later. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:56, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- Gerda Arendt That is good to know. SL93 (talk) 23:16, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

Stumped
Hi, I got stumped trying to come up with a new hook. I actually like the ATL1 but the reviewer does not. The person was a central figure in the 1950s quiz show scandals. If you cannot - just let me know and I will dwell on it again. Thanks Bruxton (talk) 03:40, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Bruxton: Hi there! So, I can think of a few hookier hooks, but to be honest, I think your ALT0 is the hook that should be running for this article. I agree that repeating quiz show isn't great, but other than that, you don't wanna give away too much of the story. Not every interesting bit needs to go in the hook. I'd say that you should asked that ALT0 be approved, and if the reviewer wants, they can submit a new ALT of their own and let someone else approve it; then the promoter decides. (also, you should know that it's ALT, not ATL) :D cheers! theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 14:51, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- Good advice. Thank you. Someone submitted one on my talk page also. Bruxton (talk) 15:24, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
WP:CIVIL
and probably a general WP:NPA - remove this, please - or ask an admin to do it for you --> Promoter's comment: oh way down south in the land of traitors / rattlesnakes and alligators / ride away! ride away! ride away! ride away!...
- For those playing along at home, they're referring to my comment at Template:Did you know nominations/28th Virginia battle flag—quoting a parody of a southern song known as "Union Dixie". It's not a personal attack, nor is it uncivil—i see no reason to strike it. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 05:05, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

DYK for The Long Goodbye (The West Wing)
On 25 January 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Long Goodbye (The West Wing), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that while Wired recommended that readers binge The West Wing, it also advised readers to skip the fourth season episode "The Long Goodbye"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Long Goodbye (The West Wing). Am I too late for a DYK?
Hi, Theleekycauldron, I recently did a new article, that I think would be interesting in a "Did you know?", but lost track of time and I might be too late! Is there any discretion on that? The article is Take-note Debate, which I started on January 15, 2022. That darn Real Life thing got in the way. Two possible hooks are "Did you know that the Canadian HOuse of Commons holds Take-note debates, where the members debate but never put the matter to a vote?" and "Did you know that the Canadian House of Commons held a Take-note debate on the discovery of the graves of over 200 indigenous children?" Hope it's still possible. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 03:23, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hey, Mr Serjeant Buzfuz! Good to hear from you again :) the article does look pretty promising! There'll often be IAR exceptions on the week rule; file the nom, explain a little why it was late, and it's a roll of the dice! 10 is pushing it a bit, but it's not extraordinary... theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/they) 04:12, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- Done! I like the new template - lot easier to navigate than the old one! Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 05:23, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- I'm curious: what's an "IAR exception"? Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 05:48, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- Aha! That! Let's hope it works. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 00:42, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
your response to Ritchie
You probably meant to link to this page, not to yet another mysterious redlink :) —Kusma (talk) 14:39, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
- I see you've withdrawn, which looks like the right thing to do. As you can't try again in 2006 when it was easier, I hope we'll see you at RfA again some time this decade. Just keep going and try not to be too disappointed. —Kusma (talk) 12:39, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Kusma: a shame, too—toddler claudia would have made an excellent admin. believe it or not, my first words as a child were actually "rm unsourced" :) in all seriousness, i feel great. Lots of stuff I can do without the toolbox, and I have no intention of letting that go. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/they) 12:57, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

By the authority vested in me by myself it gives me great pleasure to present you with this special, very exclusive award created just for we few, we happy few, this band of brothers, who have shed sweat, tears and probably blood, in order to be able to proudly claim "I too have taken an article to Featured status". Potential DYK for Sysop
I'll try to give you something to ponder about and get over the RfA which is rather controversial for a variety of issues. With a bit of patience, you have a fabulous Wikipedia career ahead of you and I hope you know it. Anyway, I was delighted of your DYK for the welsh locality Cwmhiraeth. Maybe we could think of a DYK for a Sysop or all Sysops? Best regards, Paradise Chronicle (talk) 03:27, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Paradise Chronicle: expanding that article to 6,755 bytes of prose? we're really reaching for the stars this week, aren't we :) theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/they) 12:30, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

Apologies for my RfA contribution after withdrawal
I'd like to apologise for contributing to the RfA after you withdrew. I started the contribution 4 hours before, went back to bed, did 4 other WP things, then made my !vote. TROUT me for that. Wishing you all the best though and hope you get the MOP some day¬ (I'd love to give you a barnstar but I don't do barnstars for anybody! 13:11, 29 January 2022 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Djm-leighpark (talk • contribs)

- @Theleekycauldron @Djm-leighpark I also apologize, while I did not actually participate in the RFA I apologize through all that you both went through. Get some rest, RFA is very hard and requires serious precision and restlessness(not even sure that's a word). SoyokoAnis - talk 13:28, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
