Hi. When you recently edited Jikki, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mano (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello Sugram, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:04, 5 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Copyvio

edit

Hello Sugram, I was editing at M. G. Chakrapani when it became clear to me that some obviously un-encyclopedic text ("...the subtle and cunning way he spoke the dialogue dripping venom were superb...") may have been copy/pasted from another source. Sure enough, I discovered that whole major passages had been lifted from an article at TheHindu.com. Since you appear to be the person who pasted the edit I felt an obligation to notify you that copying and pasting copyrighted materials is considered plagiarism, and is both legally and ethically wrong. It is also grounds for having your editing privileges revoked, and whole articles deleted. Please read WP:COPYVIO and please do not do it again. You can use articles like the one at TheHindu as a source of information, but you cannot use them as a source of content. Thank you, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:08, 3 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced contributions and original research

edit

Hello Sugram, I noticed your edits at K. V. Mahadevan, and specifically this stretch of about 35 edits that add a lot of original research and personal interpretation, but provide very little in the way of reliable sources. I'm concerned with some types of phrasing, for example: "Right from the beginning he has his own style of music. He was very particular in composing music and believed that music is devotional. He ensured justice by adhering as far as possible, within limitations set by producers, to the basics of karnatic music. He has a trade mark until the end that should there someone wants good quality karnatic and semi classical music, then one should seek KVM." These are all flowery observations that probably don't belong in the article at all, but if they do, they should be backed by reliable sources independent of the subject. In their current state, they definitely shouldn't be proposed as facts if they are products of your imagination or your personal knowledge or interpretation. Because they are unsourced, they run the risk of being deleted. Please either source these claims, or delete them. Further, I'm confused about your massive data tables that are also unsourced. From where is this information being derived? I think you might consider making contact with a WikiProject relevant to your field of interest to solicit help from experienced editors familiar with your subject matter. Maybe at WikiProject India? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 07:46, 23 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Bale Raman

edit

The article Bale Raman has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

It is a dubbed version of the Telugu film Bratuku Teruvu.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Udutha Sarojini moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Udutha Sarojini, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 10:38, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
