Bob Lanier

According to WP:V, "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth—meaning, in this context, whether readers are able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether we think it is true. Editors should provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is challenged or is likely to be challenged, or the material may be removed." LOL, I'm not mad, I'm just saying that we need reliable sources. I looked for a very long time on the internet, and I have concluded that quintuple double thing is nothing more than an internet rumor. If you'd like to create a redirect page, you can create the page with the name you would like to redirect, then click the #R button at the top of the editor, then fill in your link. I still believe your recent addition should not be included because the event is not notable. Additionally, the section contains original research: were the remarks really "controversial?" You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Tiger Woods. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Hello, Smuckers … I recently encountered the article about Charles Torjo and in my opinion, it either lacks sufficient Attribution that it satisfies the Notability criteria for Biographies, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it violates a copyright.

I am considering tagging Charles Torjo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) for deletion according to the Deletion policy … I do not have time to examine the article in depth at the moment, and it may improve over time, in which case this warning was premature.

This page seems does not assert why the person is notable and also doesn't say why the person in question is notable. It just mentions someone's high school and college sporting achievements. If Nicole Fawcett deserves a page, then the many other people who are in a college sports team would deserve a page.UKWikiGuy (talk) 20:23, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Also, in the future, when such a warning is appropriate, please follow the instructions on the template's page (i.e., Template:Joke) regarding template substitution ("subst:"), and using the parser function to add more detail to the warning, thus helping those being warned understand what the devil you're talking about. re:edits to infobox at Maine South High School

Greetings Smuckers!

I wanted to stop by with an explanation as to why I reversed some of your edits to the infobox in this article

The infobox, because it is a template, works very oddly at times. This big one has a lot of space for information, but also has some peculiarities that are different as to how you and I would interpret things.

The "mascot" entry is typically used for a named mascot like "Howard the Hawk" or "Donnie the Demon" or something like that. "Nickname" is for the actual "name". This is not something I came up with, rather what I have observed after observing and editing a lot of school articles.

If there is no mascot named, anything in "mascot image" will not show up. Virtually every school article I have seen uses some image of the school crest or some other symbol at the top of the infobox, and an actual photograph at the bottom. When I set up Maine South's I was shooting for a level of uniformity.

I'm not attacking you, but I do get frustrated with some of your edits. You do a lot of tagging and templating in articles that I work on and it's extremely frustrating to see things that are on my list to do or to finish get marked up by someone else. If you see something that needs to be fixed, fix it. It feels like you'd rather demand for others to do things that work on them yourself. Things like statistical tables take a long time to update, and I know they are a lot of work, but think how much more work it is for one person to do it all the time. Digger Phelps

I wonder if you might elaborate on this, particularly relative to whether you have any source for it. In response to a query about his Wikipedia bio on a local sports talk show today, Phelps averred that he has never played chess in his life. The factoid, interestingly, has gotten into his official GameDay bio, which seems to have been distilled from our page. Were the trivium inserted by an anon, I might, my distaste for our elevating registered users above the unwashed masses notwithstanding, imagine it to be simple vandalism, but this is evidently a good-faith edit, and so I am just curious (especially because I recall having heard elsewhere that Digger was a chess player) about its genesis. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Custom signature fix needed

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error, specifically formatting tags that are in the wrong order.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.

The African Narrative

Dear Smuckers,

The Africa Narrative is seeking volunteer facilitators in Egypt (two volunteers) and Senegal (two volunteers) for the AfroCreatives Wikiproject.

The AfroCreatives Wikiproject aims to support and mobilize creatives and professionals from the African creative sector, as well as enthusiasts more broadly, to contribute and enhance knowledge on Wikipedia about Africa’s creative economy. Its inaugural effort will target the film sectors of Egypt, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Senegal.

The Africa Narrative (TAN) is a non-profit that develops singular, high-impact initiatives in support of African creatives and the African cultural and creative industries with the aim to strengthen capacity in the continent’s creative economy and the global visibility of African cultural soft power.

All volunteers must have full professional proficiency in English. In Senegal, they must have native or full professional proficiency in French; in Egypt, they must have native or full professional proficiency in Arabic. Volunteer facilitators should have a vast knowledge about Wikimedia projects and experience with teaching new editors. All volunteers will be compensated.

Interested participants may sign up on the project's Meta page. You may also indicate your country and email if your Wikipedia account is not associated with any email address.

Hello, it is redundant/repetitive to Aviation accidents and incidents in 2023. If you click on the category you added, there are multiple sub-categories that are sorted by year, country, etc. The category you added has no specific airline crashes under it and is reserved for general articles like hull loss, forced landing, and air rage.
