February 2018 edit

Please avoid synthesis of content and adding content to BLP not supported by source directly like you did here. See WP:INTEGRITY also. This is not minor changes like you claimed in edit summary. –Ammarpad (talk) 20:24, 18 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for March 4 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Thabang Makwetla, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ATM (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:33, 4 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your page creations edit

I see you've created a significant number of articles in the past few days. That's great, but ideally the referencing on those articles would be better. Having Google Maps as the only reference for an article on a town like Springbokpan is less than ideal. And for biographies such as Sindisiwe Chikunga, while I have no doubt the person is notable, there's almost no information in the article as is. Including information such as when they were elected as an MP would be ideal. power~enwiki (π, ν) 04:18, 6 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Navigation edit

Hallo, When you create an article like John Jeffery (politician), please remember to provide navigation from the basic name John Jeffery. In this case a WP:hatnote needed expanding - I've done so. Sometimes it's a case of adding to a disambiguation page. Either way, you ought to help readers to find the article you've just created. There's a lot to learn about editing Wikipedia, but it's an interesting journey! Happy Editing. PamD 08:21, 6 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Categories and stub tags edit

I do hate to pile on, but I wanted to ask you also to consider adding a few categories to new articles as you create them. They'll help organize the articles as they're written, and group them with other similar ones. Adding a stub tag will also help to notify other people that the article can be expanded.

Have a look at what I've added to Constance Bapela, for starters. I see you've also edited Thabang Makwetla - that's a great example of an article with categories you can consider.

Sorry to be a bother - you really are doing great work. Just wanted to offer a couple of tips on how to make it even better. :-)

Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. I won't be available tonight, but I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can.

Keep up the good work, and happy editing! --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:48, 6 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

African towns - need inline citations edit

Hi Rigleybr, Greetings. You have created a batch of pages of South Africa towns with only of Google map reference doesnt not reflect a proper reliable and independent citation. Content added/edited in Wikipedia needs "inline citation" from independent (third party / secondary / tertiary) reliable source (in any language) for verification to gauge the nobility criteria is met. The articles's inline citation is the WP:BURDEN which it is on the person adding the information to avoid the deletion of the pages. Please note official website, records of sport events or individual player records are consider primary source and not independent source, and social network source such as facebook, twitter, instagram, imbd and etc are considered NOT reliable source and can not be used for citing. Independent reliable source are sources are those obtain from major newspaper, such as The Guardian, Sydney Morning Herald, CNN news and etc. or source obtain from major publisher of the work (for example, Random House or Cambridge University Press). Pls see

  1. reliable source - see WP:RS
  2. primary vs secondary vs tiartiary source - see WP:WPNOTRS
  3. verification - see WP:V
  4. notability - see WP:N
  5. webcite - see WP:CITEWEB and its template -see Template: cite web

Once you have provided inline citations as you have done with the South Africa's politicians, you could move back the page to "article" to resubmit. For more editing help, you could send your question to the friendly and helpful volunteers at the Teahouse. Lastly, I strongly encourage you to visit WP:The Wikipedia Adventure for there are some short and fun exercises on neutrality, verifiability, collaboration, research and sourcing. Thank you. Thank you all for the help. I'm new to editing Wikipedia (obviously), and this is definitely good advice. I love broadening the "information catalogue" of the world, so doing it right makes me very happy.

Proposed deletion of Thomas Walls edit

Hello, Rigleybr. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Thomas Walls, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

WikiProject Africa edit

Hi Rigleybr,

I saw your work on articles related to Africa and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch the WikiProject Africa talk page, which is a noticeboard for Wikipedia's Africa coverage. It's a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, and stay informed about Africa-related content. Take a look for yourself!

And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider adopting a cleanup category or participating in one of our current formal discussions.

Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 13:27, 18 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thabang Makwetla edit

Hello, I can understand your point, however, we use phonemic transcriptions / /, and allophonics should only be used for phonetic transcriptions (i.e. [ ]). Like I said in my edits, check Help:IPA/English as the glottal stop should only be used for words like uh-oh. — they call me AWESOMEmeeos ... [ˈɔɪ̯]! 04:51, 23 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Proposed deletion of Gratitude Magwanishe edit

The article Gratitude Magwanishe has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Liz Read! Proposed deletion of Ntime Skhosana edit

The article Ntime Skhosana has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Doesn't meet the GNG. Skhosana is occasionally quoted in the press, but my search found none of the in-depth coverage of him needed to establish notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
