Archive pass?Edit

Hi, Powerenwiki; would you have time to run through Talk:2019 Venezuelan presidential crisis with an eye towards stale sections that can be archived? I have been trying to keep up with archiving, but on sections where I have opined, or where resolution is unclear, I don't want to open myself to charges of inappropriate or premature archiving, so another set of eyes would help. I think some sections can go, but unsure. Thanks in advance! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:23, 20 February 2019 (UTC)

I'll take a look later today. power~enwiki (π, ν) 15:54, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks; I know you are busy, so appreciate it! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:58, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
@SandyGeorgia: there are several talk-threads about inclusions on the per-country list I've refrained from archiving for now, but will archive once the pages are split. I should have more time this week and will try to go over the whole article at some point in the next few days. power~enwiki (π, ν) 03:25, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks! The talk page keeps hitting 140KB, and it's got all those threads at the top that I just don't know what to do with ... will be glad to have all of that on another page so we can do some writing without bickering about Morocco. But also I'm amazed at what ZiaLater was able to accomplish with the map! What a labor that must have been ... SandyGeorgia (Talk) 03:29, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

RFC RequestEdit

Dear Fellow Wikipedian

I would like to invite you to my RFC request on  the page One America News Networks. I am reaching out to you to include your expert opinion and your solution to this problem in the RFC request. Please also invite more editors so that we can have a fair discussion that will improve the page.

Kind Regards

Kirsten GillibrandEdit

What's the next step in dealing with User talk:Bill518? I don't want to risk violating 1RR, although I think its exempted as vandalism + unsourced material on BLP. Hydromania (talk) 02:42, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

don't know if it makes a difference but these are the same edits as Special:Contributions/100.4.226.156 Hydromania (talk) 02:46, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

Current events tagsEdit

Thank you! I hate those things. Could we also remove it from Juan Guaidó? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:44, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

I haven't read that article yet, I'll check it later today (after 2019 Venezuelan protests, which is next). Do you know what "Venezuela Al Día" is? (currently a redlink in the article) power~enwiki (π, ν) 17:46, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
It is not a source I would use because I can't get through the pop-ups to even find an "About us" page. Not sure if redlink should stay. Not sure if they should be used. @Jamez42 and ZiaLater: may know better. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:49, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
Venezuela Al Día is generally a reliable source, and there are sometimes where it is the main source I can use to reference an edit, but it's not a main outlet such as others including Efecto Cocuyo, El Pitazo, El Estímulo, El Nacional or El Universal. If the question is that if the outlet can be trusted, I'd say it is alright and suggest to quote another reference alongside; however, I can't find the aforementioned red link. --Jamez42 (talk) 22:32, 3 March 2019 (UTC)

Titania McGrathEdit

As I mentioned at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Titania McGrath I think your diagnosis of WP:TOOSOON was correct, so despite my !vote wasn't too unhappy with the outcome. But as I expected there has been a jump up in reports as her book gets close to publication. In particular The Times has now published three separate articles on her or her book: see [1], [2], and [3]. This raises a couple of questions on which I would appreciate your opinion: (1) do you think the AFD would have gone the other way with these sources? (2) is it too soon to try recreating the article? My personal guesses are "yes" and (given that articles created over previous deletions tend to get more scrutinised) "probably still too soon", but I would value a second opinion. Regards, Jonathan A Jones (talk) 15:20, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

The book is coming out this week, right? I would wait until Saturday to try to re-create it. With the coverage I expect will come out this week, it should be an easy pass of AfD then. power~enwiki (π, ν) 15:23, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. Good advice. Jonathan A Jones (talk) 15:33, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Move requests removalEdit

Hi,

You removed the move requests at these articles:

Why is that? Did I use the wrong template? If so, I apologise. If not, may I remind you of WP:AGF? Just because a non registered user did some edits it's not automatically "disruption/evasion".

My apologies. Please note my User:Power~enwiki/Blog - there's WP:MOSMAC which is going to start a single bulk nomination later this month. power~enwiki (π, ν) 18:02, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Fair enough, I understand now. I'm aware of the running RFC, the reasons I was making these changes (and several other) are because:
a. Most page names have already been changed, those left are the exception,
b. I don't think there is an easy way to automate some mentions of the name "Macedonia" (in contrast e.g. with Categories that were already changed automatically) because instead of the country they may refer to Macedonia (Greece) or Macedonia (ancient kingdom) or even... fruit salads. :) So, the human factor is still needed (maybe I'm wrong in that and bots already have the upper hand).

If the discussion is closed, these are non-controversial moves that don't need a discussion - I'll check (and do it) myself soon. Feel free to ask for any future moves here. Sorry for any hostility. power~enwiki (π, ν) 18:30, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

The embassy pages are controversial and I won't do them myself. Perhaps a talk-page stalker will, or else I will re-open that discussion tomorrow. I'll move the template pages (and Talk:Health in the Republic of Macedonia) now. power~enwiki (π, ν) 03:48, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

No problem, thanks for the help! :) 2A02:587:2605:9700:6EEF:D696:69CF:9278 (talk) 07:30, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Follow-up on education for sustainable developmentEdit

Hi Power. Thanks again for your action at Education for sustainable development. I've since discovered a number of related articles, which are largely copy-pasted from single UNESCO sources, and as a result read like POV essays. See Climate-friendly school, Climate change education (CCE) and UNESCO ASPNet. I'm not sure any of the content of these is worth keeping, so I'm considering redirecting them all to the main ESD article, but would appreciate your opinion. NPR Newsletter No.17Edit

Hello Power~enwiki,

News
Discussions of interest
  • Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
  • {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
  • A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
  • There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
Reminders
  • NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
NPP Tools Report
  • Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
  • copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
  • The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.
