Babel edit

Hi Ravave! I had to look around a bit, but from looking at this article it appears that Valencian is commonly known as Catalan outside of the Valencian Community of Spain. I searched a bit more, and it appears that the Babel boxes use the Catalan term to refer to the language, and a list of Catalan babel boxes can be found here. I hope this answers your question, but if not feel free to leave another message on my talk page, or if you perfer you could also try asking someone at the help desk, which is usually monitored by a variety of experienced editors. Hola Ravave.

Speedy deletion of Mojinos Escozíos edit

A tag has been placed on Mojinos Escozíos requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. gnfnrf (talk) 20:12, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lois edit

If you are asking why I deleted it, it's because it is a one time quick joke, that didn't even make the episode. If we included every joke, the article would never end, and would give undo weight to these jokes. CTJF83Talk 15:13, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well if it is deleted, it probably shouldn't be mentioned ever. The problem is, we don't want to give undo weight to one throw away joke (which Family Guy has ALOT of). For example, obviously it is established that she is married to Peter, and is a piano teacher, etc. Peter and Stewie have the biggest jokes about them, especially Peter, so a lot of what happens to him just for a few seconds in a show doesn't need to be mentioned. Like currently on Peter's page, it says "Occasionally Peter soils himself". That is not necessary, as they are just jokes, and have nothing to do with him as a character in general. Also in his infobox, people want to keep adding in ancestry that he is black and Mexican. Again, those are just one time, quick jokes, not to mention that Nate Griffin isn't related to him, so he isn't black at all. This page might give you a little more help too, it is about writing articles about fiction. If you have any more questions, let me know! CTJF83Talk 15:44, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Fernando Cabrera (Spanish dubbing actor) for deletion edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Fernando Cabrera (Spanish dubbing actor) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fernando Cabrera (Spanish dubbing actor) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. j⚛e deckertalk 13:59, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Many editors consider IMDB (and I'm less sure about Eldoblaje) to not be a reliable source. The basic criteria for article inclusion at Wikipedia is the general notability guideline. What it asks is that articles be backed by multiple, reliable sources (generally newspapers, magazines, or books) that discuss the article subject in-depth. The idea is that the article, in the best of worlds, should be written from such sources. I'd love to see additional references on this voice actor, and I will be happy to add them to the article and withdraw my nomination at AfD if some are presented. Do you know of any that might be appropriate? Thanks! --j⚛e deckertalk 15:15, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
If there are newspaper articles, magazines, etc., in Spain, that's fine, but it sounds like maybe not? But don't give up hope yet. One of the reasons that there is a week-long discussion is that it gives other editors a chance to try and look for sources too. I try, but I miss things sometimes, so we require a few editors to take a look at most deletions like this, and speaking personally, I'd much rather that someone found something. --j⚛e deckertalk 15:19, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Edit war edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Salvador Puig Antich. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. JamesBWatson (talk) 07:55, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

The problem here is the "real" nationality about that person. He was born in Catalonia OK, But where's: Spain, France, Mexico?. I just say he was Spanish because Catalonian in those times and nowadays is part of Spain. This user, who i suposse is from Catalonia, is persistent in add Catalonian how if a sovereing country were when actually it doesn't. If the user is Catalonian, he can speak with me in Spanish or Catalonian, but i think he won't (i'm Valencian, almost neighbourgs). --Ravave (talk) 14:56, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Several of the sources used as a references even states that Salvador is a 'Catalan' anarchist. Catalunya has it's own government for Christ's sake, Catalan is his nationality, mention that Catalonia is under Spanish rule if you must but you will find lots of sources all over the internet including books that all describe him as Catalan. He may have been born under Spanish rule but it does not in any form stop him from being Catalan, or being described as one. It's insulting, especially given what the article goes on to say about Salvador's life. The article in it self describes 'Catalan' political movement. I have not 'vandalized' this article at all, practically every source used as a reference all describe him as being a Catalan. This nationality argument is falling on stony ground I'm afraid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CristofolR (talkcontribs) 01:11, 16 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Re: I'm sorry, but... edit

Hi Ravave, thanks for your message. Sorry you disagree with the {{BLP sources}} tag I've added to the Gorka Otxoa article. You must keep in mind however that Wikipedia guidelines tell us that (for neutrality and verifiability purposes) all articles should be referenced by multiple, independent reliable sources... which is an issue that becomes even more critical when the article in question is a biography of a living person. I regret to inform that the interview links you've suggested would most likely be regarded as primary sources, and insufficient for the purpose. If you are currently unable to locate additional reliable sources, be patient, as the {{BLP sources}} template automatically adds tagged articles to a hidden backlog category which is continuously being worked by users who are very sharp at finding quality source material, and will eventually work their way through the list to your article. In the meantime, please remember that this maintenance tag is not threatening the existence of the article, nor should it be regarded as a badge of shame. Its purpose is to raise awareness of the issue and invite the participation of others to help improve the quality of the article itself, and Wikipedia as a whole as a result. I hope I've helped answer some of your questions and concerns. Stay well, and happy editing.    -- WikHead (talk) 18:33, 18 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Chernobil... ¡Que cuchitril! edit

The article Chernobil... ¡Que cuchitril! has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of how this might meet notability guidelines. Lacks citations to significant coverage in reliable sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Making something poor and expecting somebody else to fix it is not how the world works. If you're not capable of translating something properly yourself, then don't do it at all, all you're doing is making Wikipedia worse--Jac16888 Talk 18:49, 26 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

You should'be know Spain is one of the most country where the English aknowledge level is lowest and the Wikipedians should be help them. You don't need to keep telling me you're replied. We have enough poorly translated articles already, you're not helping matters by making more - I wouldn't try to edit a Wikipedia if I didn't know the language, as I would be aware that I'd just be making things harder for those already there--Jac16888 Talk 19:11, 26 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for answer me although i'm not dissapointed actually. I have a level 2 in English language so i can have any problems with the gramma or the translations. I see the rejection was because haven't more reliable sources (OK, I can search for internet). By the way, the article was partially translated from Spanish language Wikipedia, what do you think the text?, it's comprehensible or i need to improve more the draft?. --Ravave (talk) 17:07, 22 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

The text is not perfect but it's good enough to be understood. Grammar isn't a criteria for acceptance so I didn't initially examine the article for that. Yes, you need more reliable sources. I made a quick search and didn't see anything useful. Chris Troutman (talk) 00:04, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
OK, Thank you very much. I'm going to search another references (I try find someone in English). Bye. --Ravave (talk) 07:46, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Now is referenced. I'm gonna submit again. --Ravave (talk) 11:00, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
None of the sources you added appear to be reliable. Simply finding information on a website isn't enough. If you found information in El País or El Periódico de Catalunya then that would help her notability. Please read the linked guidelines so you understand. The equivalent guidance in Spanish is Artículos sin relevancia aparente. Chris Troutman (talk) 12:05, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well, i will try again. --Ravave (talk) 17:06, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

El País is a generalist newspaper, i don't think there information about her biography being a singer, at most something about her personal life. There's also yellow magazines who likes make crap about the celebrities, but María del Monte isn't too controversial. --Ravave (talk) 17:48, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
My point is, use reliable (perhaps journalistic) sources. Chris Troutman (talk) 00:17, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for answer you with delay, i'd be busy. Search more references will take me for a while, but i'm still searching. --Ravave (talk) 08:00, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

In this time i just added more info about her TV career with sources from: Europa Press, an interview from 20 minutos where she talked about her first TV-performance, another one is El Economista where there information about two TV programs (the first how jury member and the second one how tutor in a Childish edition program). I hope that's enough. --Ravave (talk) 16:28, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes, our guidelines state that selling a platinum album counts for notability. I moved the article to Maria de Monte as it appears English Wikipedia doesn't typically list all the Spanish names. I added Template:Spanish name for that reason so please tweak that as necessary. Chris Troutman (talk) 16:56, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
The template is OK, I guess you say about "tweak" cause her birth name is compound. Well, in Spain and anothers Spanish speak-countries is very often someone has a compund name, for example: María del Mar, María de la Concepción, Francisco José, Francisco Javier, José María, etc. --Ravave (talk) 17:10, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Salamanca AC edit

No problem, it was not too poor at all. :)

BTW, SAC was founded by Hidalgo and its inscription was rejected twice, I don't think it has so much relevance either. We could point both teams in UD Salamanca's page, adding references to them (I'll do it later). I can also create a draft to Unionistas' page (drafts are OK if you want to wait until the day they become notable enough, but today I'm not so sure if I'll have that much time on me).

Thanks for the help, mate! Cheers, MYS77 12:23, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ah, and Unionistas play in Primera Provincial, right? Surely they'll be promoted, Salamanca was a huge club and what happened to it was not right. MYS77 12:25, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Hey, my friend! How are you? Long time, huh?
Remember the "new Salamanca"? They were indeed promoted, as I "predicted" some months ago :) I moved my (our, to be honest) draft to a "real article", as they are just one level behind Tercera, and have coverage in Marca, El Norte de Castilla and ABC (all good reliable sources) and have a great past with UDS as its "precessor".
If you want, you can add more to the page.

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Re:Roman Zozulya edit

@Ravave: Hi and thank you for your encouraging message  . Glad to know you want to improve the Spanish article, last time I looked at it yesterday it was pretty bad as it stated that Zozulya is a Nazi, period.
  • Twitter. I translated the original post on the talk page, it says (in Russian and not in Ukrainian, a horrible crime for a Ukrainian Nazi!) Ох и похожи , which means something like We look alike or So much alike. I don't really think this photo is worth citing beyond the fact it exists: one might also cite that that photo included not just Zozulya and Bandera but also a Minion, and Zozulya's joke was that all three look alike.
  • Regarding the visit to soldiers, I could find just one source in English: one paragraph here. Still, they do show a photo of Zozulya on the same day, but with supplies instead of a weapon. There is a better source in Ukrainian. The main idea is simple (well, simple for Ukraine where many volunteers are helping military in this way): Zozulya with other footballers bought a minibus of water, hygiene products, food and cigarettes, took some football merchandise and visited military of the uk:Донецький прикордонний загін (Donetsk Border Brigade) of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The first source shows a picture of this minibus with a logo of Narodna Armiya fund, the second one shows Zozulya with soldiers. I also gave three more links (here, here or here) about Zozulya helping families and children of military. There are more interesting facts there like Zozulya selling his UEFA Europa League medal in order to help children from the war zone (a pretty poor news item in English is available, and it is mentioned in the uacrisis one above).
  • In addition, there is some information in Spanish on the Ukrainian fact-checking site StopFake: here (August 2016) or here (February 2017).
Good luck and please do not hesitate to ask me if you need any further information — NickK (talk) 13:44, 5 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
