Your Teahouse question

Normally, you continue to ask related questions under the same heading, instead of starting a new section. This question never received a response even though it was related to another question you asked above it. Did you get the help you needed? Yes, I know I'm slow at getting through the archives.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:12, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

@Vchimpanzee: I posted the question somewhere else as well, and the user that responded there responded at the Teahouse with a link to the other post. I’m not sure why his post on the Teahouse was removed. --Puzzledvegetable (talk) 19:38, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

Page Move

You violated policy by moving the Kings County DA page to Brooklyn DA page. As per the guidelines, if a page move is controversial, you are to discuss it on the talk page or request a RM discussion. Further, as you can see on the DA page, the copyright notice says "Copyright © 2019 · Kings County District Attorney's Office" You should revert your move and then initiate a discussion on the talk page. Sir Joseph (talk) 13:20, 2 May 2019 (UTC)

@Sir Joseph: The irony of this message is not lost on me, as, if you will check the edit history you will see that you were the first one to make a controversial name change after you reverted my original edit. Therefore, if you insist on it being Kings County District Attorney, you are more than welcome to discuss it on the talk page or request a RM discussion.
With that out of the way, I would like to clarify my view on this topic. I am aware of what the copyright notice says. I read it the first time you wrote that. However, since both Brooklyn DA, and Kings County DA are used interchangeably on the official website, it is preferable to use Brooklyn DA pursuant to wikipedia:COMMONNAME which states unambiguously: “[S]ome topics have multiple names, and some names have multiple topics: this can lead to disagreement about which name should be used for a given article's title. Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's ‘official’ name as an article title; it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources)” --Puzzledvegetable (talk) 02:23, 3 May 2019 (UTC) + minor edit
The official name is Kings County DA, there is no Brooklyn DA, and in COMMON, it's not so simple that people use BROOKLYN DA, I would venture to say that many people use Kings County DA since that is what it's known as. In this case, especially because it's a legal article, we should have the official name being the name of the article, and you can mention that it is also commonly called Brooklyn DA. Sir Joseph (talk) 02:45, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
@Sir Joseph: Even if the copyright notice is sufficient evidence to prove what the official name is (and I’m not convinced it is), the point is still irrelevant. The website is called brooklynda.org, the banner on top of the home page reads The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office , the twitter handle of the district attorney himself is @BrooklynDA, I can go on. Also, this is not a legal page. Such pages, as defined by Wikipedia:Legal disclaimer are articles on legal topics. This is simply an article about a particular legal agency, and therefore is not held to the same standard as pages with information that can be construed as legal advice. --Puzzledvegetable (talk) 18:03, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
The official title is Kings County DA. People are stupid so they made a page called Brooklyn DA and that's what his Twitter is called, but there is no Brooklyn DA's office. Sir Joseph (talk) 18:23, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
@Sir Joseph: I'm not sure why you don't understand this, but I will say it again: the official name is completely and totally irrelevant. As for your other point, I invite you to use the argument that the Brooklyn DA doesn't exist and is simply referred to by that name because "people are stupid."
I will not argue about this any longer. You are simply reiterating the same point about the official name, despite my rebuttal the first time you mentioned it. If you are so confident you are right, feel free to start a rename discussion. Replying to this post with yet another mention of the copyright notice will not help anything. --Puzzledvegetable (talk) 19:22, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
I didn't mention the copyright notice. Sir Joseph (talk) 19:51, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

@Sir Joseph: I take it then that you have a different proof to support the statement "The official title is Kings County DA" which has appeared in all of your posts to this thread? --Puzzledvegetable (talk) 20:06, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

Yeah, there is no official district attorney's office called Brooklyn District Attorney. Go to Brooklyn and commit a crime, you'll be indicted by the Kings County District Attorney's Office. For example, this is how lawyers speak, not people on the street: [1] , you can also go to the BrooklynDA's own website and look at the badge and see it say Kings County District Attorney, or view any court document and see it say Kings County, not Brooklyn. Brooklyn is not a legal term, Kings County is. Brooklyn ceased to exist as a city in 1899. Sir Joseph (talk) 20:33, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
