Sockpuppetry warning edit

Hello, Pete Is Black, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia. Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who misuse multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. Thank you. Celestina007 (talk) 22:03, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello Celestina007, thank you for notifying me about this. However, I don't use multiple accounts neither do I coordinate with people outside Wikipedia. This is an article about a Nigerian Journalist who has done significant works that I'm aware of and have been actively following. I'll try to step up my editing skills if possible so not to seem this way. Thank you. Pete Is Black (talk) 22:22, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Simpa Samson edit

The article Simpa Samson has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Can't find enough in-depth sourcing from independent reliable sources to pass WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Help Needed As Regards Secondary Sources edit

Hello. Since publication for external editing, this article has been called for improvement in its sources by two Wikipedia Editors, including one call to delete due to insufficient secondary sources. Reason why I went ahead with this article was because I read published articles in this category (Nigerian broadcast, photo & video Journalists) and I figured that the sources I found for this article should be enough because the standard for secondary sources seems different from other categories - specifically, not as strict. However, ever since it has been flagged for improvement in secondary sources, I have tried improving this article but only little could be done. I was focused on the works he has done, which I'm a fan of work, and didn't give enough attention to the fact that he doesn't have a good online presence This is my first attempt at publishing a Wikipedia article and I'd be glad if Editors could join in this conversation. Should I delete this? Are the sources enough for publication? Is there a way forward? Pete Is Black (talk) 18:48, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Image without license edit

Unspecified source/license for File:Darmo Art Logo.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Darmo Art Logo.jpeg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 11:45, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Alexis de Bernede moved to draftspace - article about a living person that has no sources - see WP:BLP and WP:RS edit

An article you recently created, Alexis de Bernede, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. JW 1961 Talk 19:22, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Pete Is Black,
It is unfortunate that you didn't follow the advice of an experienced editor and submit your article drafts to Articles for Creation where they could have been reviewed and approved to be moved to main space. By moving them yourself, they were subject to speedy deletion for not being ready for the main project space. If you decide to spend time writing more articles, please submit to AFC in the future and your articles have a better chance of surviving the move to main space. Liz Read! License tagging for File:Alexis de Bernede.webp edit

Thanks for uploading File:Alexis de Bernede.webp. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:30, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Alexis de Bernede.webp edit

Thanks for uploading File:Alexis de Bernede.webp. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 00:26, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Alexis de Bernede.webp edit

Thanks for uploading File:Alexis de Bernede.webp. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 00:36, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message edit

Thanks for contacting me. I suppose that you are aware of the similarity between your username and that of a longstanding troublesome (banned) editor, User:Peteisback. This may be the reason why people have suspected you of sockpuppetry. Having said that, I can't see any great similarity between the other user's contributions and yours.

You appear to have created the articles directly in article space without using the draft/review facility, and this is at the root of your problems. One of your edit summaries said "This is a draft article that has been created and edited in the draft space. The article is good for the main space." But it wasn't good enough, and if you had submitted it for review, you would have found out why. Even now, you have a total of only 59 edits, which, although it does not prevent you from creating a new article, makes it inadvisable for you to assume you know the guidelines well enough. Most new editors begin by editing existing articles and don't concentrate their efforts around a small group of topics.

In terms of Simpa Samson, I can't see any real claim to notability, and the article reads like it's been written by several different people - for example, the use of upper and lower case is inconsistent. You removed the proposed deletion notice on that page without a proper explanation, simply using the edit summary "Improved sources", when in fact you had only added a single source.

On the subject of advertising, here are a few tips:

  1. Never use words like "prestigious" and "fast-rising". These are the kind of words that normally occur only in adverts.
  2. Avoid subjective observations like "In an industry where young artists were often ignored..." and "...where young artist [sic] would blossom..."
  3. Avoid primary sources where possible.
  4. Don't use the subject's first name, i.e. refer to him as "Samson" rather than "Simpa". Using his first name suggests personal acquaintance. Not surprising, since you have a conflict of interest, but not in keeping with our editing conventions.

I hope this helps. Deb (talk) 08:16, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Deb. Your name appears in the article about Wikipedia administrator willing to provide copy of deleted articles. Can I get a copy of these two articles back to draft. I have not recreated the drafts, Deb. I'm asking if I could get the copies back so it'll be easy when recreating them in the draft space. I'm not asking you to restore the articles, I'm asking for a copy of them for easy re-creation. Please, Deb Pete Is Black (talk) 08:55, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

November 2021 edit

Hello Pete Is Black. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Pete Is Black. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Pete Is Black|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Pahunkat (talk) 17:01, 28 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello Pahunkat. I am not a paid editor and I have never edited a Wikipedia page in exchange for payment. You can go through my Wikipedia history or something. My account has been blocked by the same administrator who made the paid editing claim. Pete Is Black (talk) 13:18, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Pete Is Black, you can make an appeal using the process outlined below (.i.e. place {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of this section). However, once more I would recommend you come clean about any paid editing you have partaken, and would ask the reviewing admin to email me to discuss some evidence. Pahunkat (talk) 16:16, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.
