Hi! Just wanted to apologise for reverting over the top of your edits to this page - I can see that you're trying to improve it. Unfortunately it was riddled with previous vandalism and I didn't see a way to fix that without also reverting the work you'd done. Thanks for the improvements! Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Mr. Anime

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Mr. Anime, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. jd22292 (Jalen D.   Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits, such as your recent edits to T-Shirt (Migos song), as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 15:50, 21 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Substantial Well-Sourced Text Example

edit

Hello - at the end of this entry you will find an example of my "substantial well-sourced text," as requested by Just Chilling on July 15. Per the administrator's request, I am also elaborating on my statement "I've learned a lot about Wikipedia in the last 6 months." When I first began editing pages, I began doing so before reading the Wikipedia rules for formatting and sourcing edits. This was an unwise decision on my part, and I continued to perpetuate the problem even after being warned by administrators. I also submitted multiple unblock requests with no evidence that I planned to change the way I did things. Given these situations, I understand why I was blocked.

I have done a lot of research on rap artists and this is where I plan to make the majority of my contributions to Wikipedia. Here is an example of a well-sourced article on one of these artists. I welcome any feedback. Noname83746 (talk) 22:45, 15 July 2018 (UTC)Noname83746Reply

Clint Massey (born February 18, 1997), better known as RondoNumbaNine, is an American rapper from Chicago, Illinois, known well in the drill movement of rap music.[1] Massey would collaborate with artists such as Lil Durk, Edai, Fredo Santana, Tay600, L’A Capone, and Lupe Fiasco[2] . Massey began rapping in late 2011, with his song “#9Rockin Polo,” which as of July 2018, has 1.6 thousand views on YouTube[3].

During his rap career, he was also a member of one faction of the Black Disciples[4] gang. Controversy rose in December 2013, when Massey posted a picture of himself holding a rocket launcher-type weapon[5].

On March 9, 2014, it was reported that Massey was arrested for first-degree murder, following the death of 28 year old cab driver Javan Boyd on February 22, 2014[6] . On March 11, 2016, Massey was found guilty, and faced anywhere from 45 years to life in prison[7]. On July 5, 2016, Massey was sentenced to 39 years in prison[8]. Massey’s projected release date is February 24, 2056, and he will be eligible for parole on February 24, 2053[9] .

Request reason:

I originally sent this appeal in on July 15, but due to an error with formatting, it was not reviewed. I understand that I was blocked due to disruptive edits and repeated disruptive unblock requests. I have spent quite a bit of time over the past few months researching the way Wikipedia works, and learning how to source edits. Obviously, it goes without saying that I will follow Wikipedia's guidelines for editing in the future. Admin Just Chilling requested that I submit an example of "substantial well-sourced text," so I am including the passage below that I wrote on July 15. Thanks for any guidance you can provide. Decline reason:

This submission shows that you have not understood Wikipedia's policy on reliable sources - of the nine sources used, I see only two that would be considered reliable by Wikipedia's standards. If these are the types of sources you would add if unblocked, then this block is still very much required. Yunshui  07:43, 7 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

This is a followup to my previous unblock request. After reviewing Wikipedia's sources policy, as suggested by Yunshui, I submit the following text example for consideration. I hope this second attempt will not be construed as making a disruptive unblock request. Noname83746 (talk) 23:20, 7 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Procedural decline, stale. User appears to have given up. Noname83746, if you return, User:Boing! said Zebedee has offered to unblock you subject to conditions. Please discuss with him below if you're interested. --Floquenbeam (talk) 23:49, 17 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Orignial "on hold" comment: I will consult with the blocking admin. I'll also ask Yunshui too, as the blocking admin has not been active for several months. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:43, 26 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Comment: The example text uses some of the same sources (but with different access dates) as the existing article, Tay-K, but the two texts are otherwise substantially different. I couldn't find any evidence of content being copied verbatim. Not being familiar with the history of the user, I'd say the example demonstrates a certain level of proficiency with regards to citing reliable sources with proper formatting. Definitely an improvement over the last attempt. Regards, decltype (talk) 13:35, 8 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Substantial Well-Sourced Text Example

edit

Taymor Travon McIntyre (born June 16, 2000), better known as Tay-K,[1] is an American rapper from Arlington, Texas.[2] McIntyre is well-known for his song “The Race,” which talks about him running from the police on capital murder charges.[3]

McIntyre was born in Long Beach, California. During McIntyre’s youth, his father was in prison. McIntyre briefly lived in Las Vegas, Nevada. Eventually, his father was released from prison, and they moved to Arlington, Texas. McIntyre also joined a rap group called Daytona Boyz, performing alongside rappers named Santana Sage and Pimpyz.[4] They only have 2 songs: “Drift,” released in December 2014,[5] and “Pharmaceutikal,” released in January 2015.[6] McIntyre started to release his own songs to the digital music platform SoundCloud in August 2015, with a song called “BIFF XANNEN”.[7] More tracks would be released, such as “Sly Cooper” in September 2015, [8] “Megaman” in March 2016,[9] and “Kickback” in May 2016.[10]

In late 2016, McIntyre was arrested on capital murder charges for his alleged involvement in the July 26, 2016 robbery and murder of 21 year old Ethan Walker in Mansfield, Texas.[11] McIntyre was released on house arrest while awaiting a certification hearing, but on March 27, 2017, him and another suspect, Jalen Bell, reportedly cut off their ankle monitors and flew to San Antonio, Texas.[12] McIntyre was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Elizabeth, New Jersey on June 30, 2017. During this time, McIntyre was also accused of assaulting & robbing 65 year old Skip Pepe in Arlington, Texas on May 25, 2017,[13] and also got another capital murder charge for allegedly robbing & killing 23 year old Mark Saldivar at a San Antonio, Texas Chick-Fil-A parking lot on April 23, 2017. In June 2018, Saldivar’s mother sued McIntyre in civil court for more than $1 million over the murder.[14] McIntyre is currently in the Tarrant County Jail awaiting trial on capital murder and aggravated robbery charges.[15][16]

Response

@Noname83746: I've discussed this with the blocking admin, and here are the resulting thoughts: While that article is significantly better sourced than previously, there are still sourcing problems...

  • The SoundCloud citations are no good as reliable sources from a WP:NMUSIC perspective, as it is user-generated and just about anybody can use it to distribute their own music. So I'm not seeing music notability based on those sources.
  • On the crime front, it's largely sourced to a local newspaper, though there is one citation from the NYT (but it's the music section). And there does not appear to have been a conviction. That makes me seriously doubt that there's sufficient there to satisfy inclusion in accordance with WP:BLPCRIME.
  • On a WP:GNG basis, there are some independent and potentially reliable sources, but I think it would still face problems with WP:BLPCRIME.
  • So we seem to have several distinct approaches to suggesting notability, and I'm not really convinced about any of them. Still, if this was your first attempt, I don't think you'd be facing any real problems - though I'm not convinced it would survive a WP:AfD review.

Anyway, to the point... Overall, you clearly have made a significantly better effort this time and your understanding of sources is definitely improving. So I'll agree to unblock you on the condition that you do not create any articles directly but instead only use the WP:AfC process so that experienced editors can check your submissions. You could appeal that after six months and after having successfully had some articles accepted at WP:AfC. The actual number I'll leave to you, but I'd really be looking for quality rather than quantity - a small handful of well-sourced articles accpeted at WP:AfC with little trouble would count more than a larger number that needed multiple submissions and/or were accompanied with outright rejections. You could appeal directly to me to have the restriction lifted, or to WP:AN (if you prefer, or if I'm not around). How does that sound? Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 15:20, 29 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please respond to Boing! said Zebedee's comments/offer above. This kind of a content-free unblock request is useless. Did you see Boing's offer? Do you agree to that condition? Do you think it isn't necessary? etc. I don't want to decline another unblock request just because you haven't addressed the comments above, and go around in circles some more, but I can guarantee no admin is going to unblock if you don't address the outstanding issues; we don't care whether you trust yourself or not. --Floquenbeam (talk) 19:37, 30 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I really understand why I got blocked and that I willfully ignored the editing rules of Wikipedia and know not to do it again. I'll remember to source my edits with good sources. I realize SoundCloud and YouTube aren't the best sources, but Star-Telegram and MTV are fine to use

Decline reason:

There have been multiple comments here pointing you towards Boing! said Zebedee's proposal above. You haven't acknowledged either the proposal or any of the comments. Huon (talk) 12:07, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

You still haven't responded to the offer made by Boing! said Zebedee above. If you continue to make unblock requests without addressing it, your talk page access is probably going to get blocked. GoldenRing (talk) 15:44, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
