Blanking edit

If you that a category, article or template is not needed, please do NOT just blank it, as you did to ... and similarly, please do not remove a valid category from an article, as you did in this edit to First Minister of Northern Ireland

There are procedures for deletion:

Blanking pages is likely to be viewed as vandalism, so you really don;t want to do that!

Cut & Paste Move edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently copied the contents of a page and pasted it into another with a different name. Specifically, you copied the contents of Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister. This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. The mechanism we use for renaming an article is to move it to a new name which both preserves the page's history and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.

I have fixed the cut & paste move in this case for you. Keith D (talk) 22:10, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of "Template:Firsministeranddeputyfirstminister" edit

A page you created, Template:Firsministeranddeputyfirstminister, has been tagged for deletion in accordance with our deletion policy. In particular, it meets one or more criteria for speedy deletion; the relevant criterion is:

Author requests deletion, if requested in good faith, and provided the page's only substantial content was added by its author. If the author blanks the page, this can be taken as a deletion request.

As you created the page, and have removed all content from it, it is assumed that you wish for it to be deleted. If this is not the case, you should restore the previous content of the page

If you have any questions, please contact an administrator for assistance. Thank you —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 03:53, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Massive Northern Ireland government changes edit

Hello. I notice that you embarked on a massive number of changes relating to the Northern Ireland Executive, not just the pages I have on my watchlist. I think it is good that new editors are bold, and there is no doubt that some of the articles are weak and could benefit from your help. However, you might have noticed that I didn't like some of your changes and raised them for discussion. Your proposals might get more traction for change if you respond to questions from your fellow editors on the article talk pages, and raise general issues at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Northern Ireland or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ireland

What are your long term plans for these articles?

Templates for deletion edit

I have nominated for deletion a series of templates which you created: see Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2008 April 29#Northern_Ireland_ministers_templates, where your comments are welcome. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:57, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Stroke City edit

Hi

I reverted your edit to Senate of Northern Ireland. Per WP:IMOS, wikipedia uses the name "Derry" for the city and "Londonderry" for the county. It's a compromise to resolve the Derry/Londonderry naming issue. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 19:32, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry edit

Nanometre, I'm really sorry to test your exceptional patience yet again, but I have just noninated another of your templates for deletion: see Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2008 May 2#Template:Northern_Ireland_Assembly.

As I have note there, this template is implemented perfectly, and in concept it's fine ... it's just that I think that it's too big for its purpose. It may be that others disagree, but I reckon that when the list gets this big it's it's better to rely on the actegory or the list at Members of the Northern Ireland Assembly elected in 2007.

Oh, since I started this msg, I see that you have already replied at TFD ... but I'll post this msg anyway. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs)

US-Northern Ireland Investment Conference edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of US-Northern Ireland Investment Conference, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.investni.com/apps/usniconference/usniwebsite/index.html. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 02:18, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Comp.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Comp.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Speedy deletion of Roads Service edit

A tag has been placed on Roads Service requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. treelo talk 17:54, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Northern Ireland Bureau edit

The article Northern Ireland Bureau has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No secondary sources. Fails WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
