WP:Hornbook -- a new WP:Law task force for the J.D. curriculum
Hi Lquilter/Archive 014,
I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".
Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.
- Each casebook will have a subpage.
- Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
- It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
- Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
- I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.
What you can do now:
- 1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
- 2. If you're a law student,
- Email http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:Hornbook to your classmates, and tell them to do the same.
- Contact me directly via talk page or email about coordinating a chapter of "Student WP:Hornbook Editors" at your own school.
- (You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
- 3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

Greetings!
It was great meeting you today at Software Freedom Day. My email and such is on my contact page. I'm looking forward to reading over your paper and perhaps running into you in wiki work at some point in the future! —mako๛ 01:16, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Merging categories
Hi. I noticed that back in 2007 you tagged some categories for merging using the regular merge templates. Since categories are a special story, we list they through one of the templates at wp:cfd. I am sure by now you are already aware of this, but since those categories have remained tagged till now, I have been spending quite some time on tagging them the proper way. BTW, please join the discussions at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2009 September 28/ Debresser (talk) 01:43, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Consumer economy
Hi, you said on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Consumer_economy that "consumer economy" is "a critical topic in economics". Can you provide me with a reference in a textbook where this term is defined? 173.170.157.188 (talk) 15:13, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- Not right now, but Google Books could give you a good headstart. --Lquilter (talk) 15:18, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- I've been through that quite carefully, and all I can find is wishy-washy and idiocentric usage of the term. Let me know if you can come up with anything (on my talk page please if it's more than a few days from now). If it really is a critical topic, I'm sure there are many textbooks where it's defined! 173.170.157.188 (talk) 15:58, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- By the way, is the proper term "a consumer economy" (a type of economy), or "the consumer economy" (a part of every economy)? 173.170.157.188 (talk) 16:02, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Your contribution to The Rainbow Cadenza Wikipedia page
Your contribution to The Rainbow Cadenza Wikipedia page was deleted in the middle of a revert war between the author of the book and editor Orangemike. Linking authors
It's pretty non-standard to embed separate wikilinks to the person's page for both the first and last-name fields, for example, as you added Helen Krich Chinoy to List of Maryland music people and Roberta Sklar. Many of the {{cite}} templates have a separate authorlink field that does what you want (see the {{cite book}} documentation for more info). DMacks (talk) 18:25, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Come hang out at #wikimedia-gendergap if that subject interests you. We hope this channel can serve as a safe haven to hang out, talk about Wiki, brainstorming, increasing women's participation in Wikimedia, article alerts and foster friendships. I hope you join us! Admins and large law firms
Just when I think there couldn't possibly be any more big law firms, someone mentions yet another I hadn't heard of. When you added the category to Volokh's article, I clicked on you, and, lo and behold, yet another admin I hadn't heard of. And with an unusually frank and interesting bio. Anyway, no "Wikipedia" reason for me to post here, but I'm expressively compulsive.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:42, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for creating categories related to Freedom of speech
Hi there! Thanks for creating categories related to Freedom of speech!
Note that with the first one, I've created companion categories on Wikiquote, Wikinews, Wikisource, and most importantly, Wikimedia Commons = commons:Category:Free speech activists. ;) Cheers, — Cirt (talk) 21:00, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- good to know. are you a categorizer, or particularly interested in these subjects, or both? --Lquilter (talk) 21:47, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- Both, mostly the latter! ;) My dream someday would be to get Hustler Magazine v. Falwell to WP:FA, but I've got a few intervening projects. ;) For instance, just recently created Portal:Freedom of speech, but it's not fully done yet. — Cirt (talk) 21:51, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- excellent portal idea -- glad to know about it & i'll look in on it as i have time. and definitely let me know when you start moving on hustler! i can edit and review. --Lquilter (talk) 19:55, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds great, and thanks, I'll try to remember to take you up on the offer of help with Hustler Magazine v. Falwell ! — Cirt (talk) 20:01, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Question: Do you think Category:Whistleblowers could go into Category:Free speech activists or somehow be linked together? I'll defer to your judgment, — Cirt (talk) 04:09, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- First reaction: I would tend to say whistleblowers is not a subcat of free speech activists. WBs are using free speech rights (sometimes) but the core of their activism is related to whatever industry they're in: government agencies, military, industrial .... --Lquilter (talk) 05:54, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- Understood, sounds good. Btw, I created a sister category to your cat Category:Freedom of expression organizations, at commons:Category:Freedom of expression organizations. ;) Cheers, — Cirt (talk) 06:03, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Also, I've finished all the initial layout and coding for Portal:Freedom of speech, now on to populating it with lots of entries (usually 10 or 20 per subsection of randomized entries). ;) After that, I'll nominate it for Featured portal consideration. After that, I'm pondering forming WP:WikiProject Freedom of speech, and judging by Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:User free speech, I'd say there's a bunch of folks already interested in joining. ;) Thoughts? — Cirt (talk) 06:06, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- Given any thought to this? :) — Cirt (talk) 19:47, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
