BuildZoom

I wondered whether you would like to review the latest incarnation of BuildZoom as I see you have been in discussion with the creator about a previous version. The article is promotional and I doubt whether the company is notable. What do you think? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 13:29, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, and it generally reads as poorly written. I am not up for a source review but if it's all passing mentions+non-independent sources it should be sent to AfD again. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 14:01, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

Spanish translation

I am currently translating the article that you requested. I regret that it has taken a bit longer than I first suggested. I have been unwell, and have had an unexpected hospital stay. However, the article should be finalised in the next couple of days. Can you please supply me with your email address so that I can forward you the translation? BronHiggs (talk) 20:30, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

Oh. Well, hopefully you recovered well and there are no lasting effects. Does Special:EmailUser/Jo-Jo Eumerus work for this? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 20:49, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

Jean-Raymond Boulle

Dear Jo-Jo, The above article has been speedily deleted before I could vote. I would like to re-open the vote so I can have the opportunity of expressing my vote because there were definitely too few votes.

What has given rise to the deletion notice is that the BLP has been characterised as

(i) a '''run-of-the mill metals trader. (ii) a Plutocrat (iii) having 'staggeringly vulgar products'

But the BLP

(i) is not a 'run-of-the mill metals trader' as anyone can see because he has discovered revolutionary new heart valve technology (Citations 31,32,33,34,35), discovered a $4.3 Billion mine (Citations: 4,5) and been decorated by Sierra Leone’s President. (Citation : 12).

(ii) A Plutocrat is a strongly negative word and is in and of itself a BLP violation (The Wikipedia Guidelines also apply to discussion pages). In addition, I think there's no source saying that he's one and that makes the ‘plutocrat’ argument doubly invalid.

(iii) "staggeringly vulgar products" cannot be used as a basis for a deletion notice. Perhaps editor concerned can provide a source for his argument.

The ostensible basis on which the deletion notice was created therefore has no rational foundation, nor does it offer a 'tipping point' of any kind because its foundations, per 1-3 above, are not based on rational fact or are not relevant or are a BLP violation. What needs to be done per the third editor is to improve the article where and if there are indications or perceptions of 'promotionalism' or COI, if that is the case. Please can they give substance to these perceptions.

AFD is not clean up and if a notable person's page has hints of COI, that COI content should be edited by neutral uninvolved editors. It does not automatically become a reason for removing. The reason for removing an article is notability and the notability standards are met here. 197.226.250.224 (talk) 19:04, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

Um. Everything under (i) is about the company, not the owner, and 12 has no such claim - source 28 does but: That a company is notable does not mean that its owner automatically becomes notable as well. I am not certain that that award makes him notable. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:40, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Macdonald hotspot

On 22 December 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Macdonald hotspot, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Macdonald hotspot may have formed numerous volcanoes in the Pacific Ocean as well as the Macdonald seamount, which may become an island in the future? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Macdonald hotspot. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Macdonald hotspot), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

GAN

Hi, Jo-Jo Eumerus. I've just nominated two volcano articles for GAN. Seeing as you have experience writing lots of volcano good articles, I was wondering if you think you could provide me with some feedback for one of the two articles. I'm planning to review Nevado de Longaví, which I see has been waiting for a review since April! ceranthor 00:56, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

Greetings, @Ceranthor:. I can give such feedback, but you'll have to point me to the article(s) in question. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 11:23, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

Hey - I appreciate you responded so quickly to the legal threat on the sockmaster's talk page (Frankabr.). I pinged you at AN, but perhaps you did not see it? Request for help from an unexperienced contributor

Hi, I noticed that you are an experienced Wikipedia contributor and some time ago you edited in good faith a article about Revolutionary Communist Party, USA. During the holiday period an IP clearly affiliated with this party has heavily edited this page as well as page of it's founder Bob Avakian and their offshoot Refuse Fascism. Most of these edits put the party in positive light, whitewash, remove criticisms etc, most are sourced from websites directly affiliated with the part.. These are the only articles the IP edits. When I tried to revert these edits I got a warning for engaging in edit warring, which was probably the case, since I don't really know the rules that well yet. The recommendation was to start a discussion on the talk page, which I did in Refuse Fascism article, but my pleads were ignored. I would like to ask you to take a look at the article in question and see if those edits are legitimate/illegitimate and proceed accordingly. Because they do look like a politically motivated PR move from Party staffer/recruit. Thank you. FreedomGonzo (talk) 06:06, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Greetings, @FreedomGonzo:. I am not terribly familiar with the topic but I'd agree that the information provided needs a source. I was about to suggest that you point the IP to the talk page and to WP:OR but if they are using misleading edit summaries maybe a harsher remedy is warranted ... except that now they are adding sources. Is there anything undue or inappropriate about the content added? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 10:14, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
Hi, thank you so much for for replying. The newly added sources are 90% from the actual website of the actual political party in question, not from any press or other independent sources. As far as I know it is not desired in wikipedia. I will contact them, but before that, would you confirm is adding massive amount of data in the lead of the article and everywhere else, for which only the political party's website is the only source does or doesn't violate any policy. It does seem like WIKI:PROMOTION to me, but again I am new to editing. Thank you for your suggestions. FreedomGonzo (talk) 11:20, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
Such first hand sources can be appropriate sometimes, such as when explaining technical details or the party's own position on things. In this case though it may raise relevance concerns. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 12:12, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Linking error while relisting

Hello again, Jo-Jo. I thank you for relisting FFD nominations. Well, you left in a tiny space between /(date)# File:(example).jpg as you did here and there. They might or might not be minor errors. However, they do not directly link to specific relisted nominations. The two are not the only instances; I think I've seen you do this. There must be an explanation about this. George Ho (talk) 00:03, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

I see. Seems like the issue is with the User:Evad37/XFDcloser script, I'll ask Evad37 about it. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 10:49, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Follow Up Question/Issue On AFC Article

Hi Jo-Jo, I had talked with you a couple months ago about an article that you recommended go through the AFC process. I took your advice and went through that process, and the article was approved yesterday but now some people are saying it should be deleted again here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#Path_Solutions! I was hoping the AFC process was going to help me with writing it better and identifying any issues like the ones they noted; like I said I'm new to this, I'm not a professional Wikipedia guy, and thought your advice to use the AFC process for help in re-doing that article would help with this process. I'm not being paid to write that article or any Wikipedia article. I'm a graduate student working on a degree focusing on Middle East cultures and religions, and while traveling abroad I met the guy that works at Path Solutions and thought I could help with their article, as it would be a good opportunity to research an area I don't know a lot about (Islamic banking) and a good bridge-building opportunity for an American to be helping a local company in the Middle East. What should I do now that I took your suggestion to do the AFC process and people are still wanting to remove the article? I'm good with rewriting parts that aren't as good, I had expected the AFC editors to identify those before it got published though. Any advice you can give or any weigh-in on the deletion discussion would be appreciated. Thank you so much!

Prospectiveperspectives (talk) 12:17, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Oriental Empires New Page

I messaged you a while back regarding Oriental Empires and had to put work off due to illness, but I'd like to remake the page now. In the time since Early Access and release the game has gotten a lot of exposure and there are many new sources to make the wikipedia page. It got a review on PCGamer, wccftech, Wargamer, and more (incl. non-english publications) in addition to reviews on Kotaku and Rock Paper Shotgun on the Early Access version. The game is now also on GOG and was Steam named it as one of its top Early Access graduates of 2017. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiNiels13 (talkcontribs) 12:33, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Spanish Translation

Here follows the translation of the journal article you requested. I am sorry that it has taken much longer than I originally expected. As previously mentioned, I have been unwell and had yet another hospital stay just before Christmas. The email link you sent didn't work. But, you don't need to worry about copyright violations as the article is licensed under Creative Commons which means that you can share it, or adapt it provided that it is not destined for commercial use. If you are at all concerned, delete this and you can find it in my sandbox. I'll leave it there for a week or so, giving you time to copy it to your preferred location. I thought it was quite interesting - I lived in Spain when I was a teenager and undertook quite a lot of my schooling and university education there, but have never been to South America, so this exposed me to a part of the world about which I have little knowledge, and inspired me to want to visit there.

Regards Bronwyn Higgs BronHiggs (talk) 04:51, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

Thanks, @BronHiggs: and hopefully you'll get better soon. However, I have to note that the SciELO article is under a noncommercial CC license so it is not actually OK to copy it onto Wikipedia which has a commercial-allowing CC license. I've thus blanked it from my talk page, but I guess it is still usable for article edits. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 10:43, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

John Lennon Songwriting Contest

This got deleted back in December when I wasn't paying attention. I don't disagree that it needed more sourcing, but a while back I'd done a fair amount of work on a small portion of it much earlier as part of desultory effort to make it better and am sorry to see the article deleted rather than fixed. I think I probably can establish notability for this as among the most famous of songwriting contests, e.g. it is so identified in "The Indie Band Survival Guide: The Complete Manual for the Do-It-Yourself Musician" by Randy Chertkow and ‎Jason Feehan, Billboard magazine has reported on it from time to time, etc. Could you be so kind as to restore it to a scratch or draft page for me so that I can give improving it a shot-- I don't want to start from nothing.
