re: Bronx High School of Science edit

Heya Iankap99!

I just wanted to let you know that I just did two things: 1. I just added a proper redirect in the alumni section, and included a little bit more proper summary. 2. I renamed the alumni list to List of Bronx High School of Science Alumni. The title should have the school's full name, as it appears in the school's main article. Also, including words like "distinguished", while likely very apt, goes against WP:NPOV. All other alumni lists are simply "List of SCHOOL alumni". No harm done.

The best thing you can do: find reliable sources that support those alumni and start improving that list. That will go a long way in convincing anyone that the list should be separate. Further, the entry for each alum should be written in prose form (full sentences), and be up to two lines long. See List of New Trier High School alumni for a model). Best of luck to you! Thanks! edit

Iankap99,

Thanks for the barnstar ... I am going to be moving it off of my talk page, but didn't want to move it before saying "thank you". LonelyBeacon (talk) 02:06, 18 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Over-wikilinking edit

NBC Nightly News is already linked once and above in the same section, so the revision should remain as is per WP:OVERLINK. serioushat 02:33, 18 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Alignment depends on what template, if any, you're using to display them. WP:UBX has a general intro, and you can often go to the page for your template, and instructions will be built in. For some, it's as simple as adding a |right parameter into the template. - Draeco (talk) 22:23, 23 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm not familiar with a specific tool per se, but there are several routes to get what you want. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Red Link Recovery, especially the "Related" section. - Draeco (talk) 23:43, 6 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
If you are asking about a tool specifically for citation links (not links within Wikipedia), then I'm afraid I'm not aware of such a tool. - Draeco (talk) 00:51, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

V for Vendetta edit

I see that you nominated this for assessment. I think the article is very close to B-class. Before getting there, the tag should be addressed in the "Differences between the film and graphic novel" section. From the article history, it looks like you deleted some of the sources because they had dead links. Just because a link is dead doesn't mean that you have to remove it (unless it is an unreliable source or if there are better ones to replace it). If it is removed, then the content that it is supporting should be removed (or cited to another source). If there are dead links in the article I would recommend that you try the Internet Archive. Just copy the url into the search box, and usually an old version of the page will be available. Paste the new url into the citation template and we'll now have a saved citation. I checked a few of the ones you removed and they were accessible on the site. Please go through and try to readd the citations or look for others while addressing the tag. Once those are complete, I'll give the article a comprehensive look so that the article can head off to GA next. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be happy to help. I'd like to see this article be returned to FA or at least GA, so I appreciate your work on the article so far. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 05:39, 23 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the advice, noted, I'll work on restoring the links.--Iankap99 (talk) 23:49, 23 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
The tag in the section states that there is suspected original research being used in the section. Reword the section or source questionable statements and the tag can be removed. Consider asking the person who added the tag in the first place for additional guidance. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 05:02, 24 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
There are still a few sections throughout the article that could use additional sourcing. A good rule of thumb is to ensure that a citation is included for each paragraph. The plot has also been expanded significantly, we should try to keep it under 700 words (it's currently just under a thousand). I did a rework of the plot back in May, maybe consider going back to that (it's just under 700). In addition, there are a few citations that have limited formatting or none at all. Make sure to include as many parameters as possible, including author, date, work, etc. Once you've resolved these issues, I'd definitely recommend nominating the article at GAN. --Happy editing! Article collaboration edit

My greatest concern is WP:CHIFTD. Currently Millennium Park is at WP:FAC. There is a strong likelihood that we will need to improve either Lurie Garden or Grant Park Music Festival. If either of those interests you those would be good articles to work on. Also, feel free to comment on the FAC.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 06:32, 3 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Copy edits are the key right now. If you could read through those two and clean them up that would be great. Lurie may need to be updated.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 07:08, 3 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Comments at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Millennium Park/archive1 would be helpful.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 01:00, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
On wikipedia the highest quality articles are WP:FAs. These articles apply at WP:FAC where interested parties give critical commentary and cast votes that either support or oppose the article's candidacy. In order to understand what a FA is see WP:WIAFA. Then if you get a chance you could help me improve Millennium Park by commenting on its discussion page. If you have no concerns or after I address your concerns, you can support or oppose its candidacy.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 02:02, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I just notice that Lurie Garden has a lot of possible content at http://luriegarden.org/node/807 and http://luriegarden.org/node/805 . You may want to check some of that out and see if it belongs in the article.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 02:57, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re:Public Domain edit

Being in the public domain is generally dependent on how long ago the author died, not how long ago the image was created. That is not a standard template (as the likes of {{PD-old}} are)- that is one someone has knocked up specifically for this image. I have explained on the GAC review a few times- basically, we're going to need to know who created this and/or when it was first published to be sure of anything. Just guessing it's pretty old and so probably PD (which is what the uploader seems to have done) doesn't cut it. J Milburn (talk) 22:44, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

V for Vendetta edit

Ref your revert. Many films regarded as British are made by US studios (in the UK) - they are mainly released in America because America has a greater population. It is regarded as a part-British film on other sources and as it is about a British subject that British dates for the event featured should be respected, ie "5th of November" is used rather than "November the 5th". This is further supported by the rhyme "Remember, remember the 5th of November".Darkieboy236 (talk) 16:42, 9 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

V for Vendetta GAN edit

Hey Iankap99. I know the V for Vendetta article has been waiting for a GA assessment for a while but I noticed the article has a couple of {{Refimprove}} tags and several citation needed tags as well. Just wanted to let you know that when a reviewer does come along this will probably be the first thing they check for and since this article has them they will just "quick-fail" it. (The article should not have been nominated in the first place). So these issues need to be fixed by the time a reviewer comes along. You could also withdraw the nomination to give yourself more time. - Kollision (talk) 14:59, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Peer review limits changed edit

This is a notice to all users who currently have at least one open peer review at Wikipedia:Peer review. Because of the large number of peer review requests and relatively low number of reviewers, the backlog of PRs has been at 20 or more almost continually for several months. The backlog is for PR requests which have gone at least four days without comments, and some of these have gone two weeks or longer waiting for a review.

While we have been able to eventually review all PRs that remain on the backlog, something had to change. As a result of the discussion here, the consensus was that all users are now limited to one (1) open peer review request.

If you already have more than one open PR, that is OK in this transition period, but you cannot open any more until all your active PR requests have been closed. If you would like someone to close a PR for you, please ask at Wikipedia talk:Peer review. If you want to help with the backlog, please review an article whoe PR request is listed at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog/items. Thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:04, 3 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
